I like the computer. It works well. *BUT* for the love of God, I hate the stinking keyboard lights! The keyboard is either swirling rainbow or not backlit at all. I can't have a single color?? I can't have rainbow without motion?? My only two choices are swirling rainbow or darkness?? So ridiculous. Honestly, It's so annoying that I would have bought a different computer had I realized.

You can adjust the keyboard lighting within the Lenovo Legion Vantage Dashboard, installed on your Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15 Gaming Laptop. The Legion Slim 7 uses iCue software to control keyboard lighting. Here is a link to the YouTube video demonstrating the static color feature of the keyboard lighting on this Lenovo Legion Slim 7:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni5tWhCkc_g. Been using this product for over a month now. Quality is very good for work and gaming. Temperatures get quite high for AAA games (Ultra settings) but cools quickly and fps is consistently and comfortably above 60. In case it wasn't made clear, the specs that mattered to me include Ryzen 7 5800H, 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz (8+8), RTX 3060, 512GB PCIe SSD, WIFI 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. which makes it quite a mid-ranged beast on paper. Looking to get at least 3-4 years of usage. This is also a very portable gaming laptop, which means that it looks and feels sleek and is light. However, this also means that it lacks an HDMI port. It is also good in a professional setting due to it's look, and other properties such as a decent 720p camera (with a built in physical cover, if privacy is a concern), and fingerprint scanner. All in all, I am very satisfied with this product which I purchased on sale for ~$1200. The only things I am unhappy with are the small storage space and lack of HDMI port but such problems are easily fixed with adapters and upgrades. Battery life is also an issue but it doesn't concern me since I am usually plugged in anyways. Avoid this product if HDMI port and long battery life are necessary.

This is an amazing machine! bought it a week ago on sale for $1100, I would happily pay the off sale price of $1500 but for the $400 off its quite the deal. I will say this is my first AMD rig as I am an avid Intel fan but this CPU paired with the RTX3060 pushing a 1080 display is an absolute beast. I am spoiled when it comes to graphic fidelity, I MUST have a sharp image and a minimum of 60fps, which this rig happily supplies. I play Ark, WoW retail/classic, Diablo 3, CoD Warzone/Multiplayer, PS2 emulation through PCSX2, Sims 4, The Forest, and LoL. All these games easily displayed 60-100FPS at 1080 at or near max settings. The 165hz panel on this display has changed the game for me, I have always loved 4K@60 but on a 15.6in display at 1080@165hz for me the image is very sharp and refresh rate is insanely high giving a very smooth gaming experience. Yes the fans can get LOUD but your gaming on a laptop that is quite slim, its not enough to worry but definitely loud enough to hear while gaming. There is no HDMI out so this was purchased as a standalone PC but you could always get a hub/adapter for type C to display of some type. I would highly recommend as soon as you boot this beast to install the Windows 11 ISO on a usb drive and do a fresh install, not too much bloatware but enough to justify a clean OS install. Also has secondary NVMe slot inside, I had a 1TB Samsung Evo Plus 970 NVMe I threw in it along with another 1TB for steam games, 512GB is nice but for some of us thats not quite enough. 16GB DDR4 Ram is perfect for entry/mid point of gaming, Couldn’t give you my opinion of battery life as this is used as a portable desktop for me. Thermals are decent, she does get very warm near the finger print scanner/power button but not enough to freak out. All in all if your looking for a “budget” gaming PC/laptop that you wont have to upgrade next week, this is the one. Oh and the RBG Keyboard is amazing to type on and look at, track pad is not the best but if I wanted a pro track pad I would of went Apple. 100% would recommend this to anyone in the market!

I was skeptical at first because of all the idiotic reviews. First of all, the 3 problems with this computer off the bat are, wifi chip, battery life, and cooling. What do you all expect i can only believe those reviewing this are coming from a desktop because that is an issue for pretty much all gaming laptops minus the chip.I solved all 3 instantly. I bought and adapter for Ethernet so there is that, wifi chip is better for those always on the move which is under 50$ with easy install even with no knowledge, YouTube will help or you can buy a usb wifi range adapter worked like a charm honestly for me in the mean time. Battery life drains if youre playing obviously but no one should have it unplugged if youre gaming kind of common sense. I bought a cooling pad with fanswhich solves the cooling issue. That is for problems straight out of box. As for gaming quality every game has default graphics setting, its up to you to balance it out on ingame sertings to get optimal fps and quality, i play apex and nfs and decent graphics games and no issues obviously with adjusted settings but again im not picky like most pc people bc at the end of the day this is for school and casual gamming hence it being the slim. Im very soon going to upgrade ram and ssd from the 16gb ram to 40gb ram by removing one of the 8gb and replacing it with a 32gb, and will also replace ssd with a 1tb or better. Agin youtube pretty much will help you do installs for free. From what I researched those are the only upgrades you truly need/can do. Now if youre looking for amazing gaming quality and reliability all around you might as well be looking at the 2k plus price range because then you’re asking for too much from this specific laptop. All around this is a great laptop 1 month in so far. I recommend 100% best buys warranty, they will replace if not give you store credit if computer is deemed unrepairable and or give same store amount in store credit to pick another therefore you can pay the difference for the same laptop with better specs as opposed to geek squads warranty they will waste your time send it away for a month just to tell you its unfixable and leaving you without a laptop for a whole month which is unacceptable let alone just to be refunded. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as i do!!! WAIT FOR IT TO BE ON SALE I DIDNT BECAUSE I COULDNT!!! You save 150$ which can be used for the mini upgrades and or warranty (btw, the rgb keyboard is pretty sweet and easy to use, i would advise to wait till lenovo drops their software to customize since Icue is having problems with games thinking it’s meant for cheating, research that and you’ll see what i mean)

Amazing laptop! Purchased over a year ago and still runs like a beast. I play on 1080p and the FPS in most games is amazing, running at over 200 for a lot of the games I played (Fortnite, Overwatch 2, Minecraft, Call of Duty, etc.) Works very well, has a decent amount of storage and is able to run pretty much everything you can imagine. For a laptop, this is probably one of the best options you can go with. Wouldn’t recommend using it unplugged, because the performance is honestly bad. But when it is connected to power, the thing runs amazing. Good size so it’s pretty portable, but it can get hot so be careful when putting it in a bag. Honestly would just use it like a desktop PC.

Pro tip for eliminating noisy fans and coil whine

    Posted .

Pros: 1) 2nd best display out of all the gaming laptops I've looked at. 350-375 nits and decent accuracy. 2) Excellent keyboard - tactile and accurate. 3) Good build quality for this price bracket. It's not Razer Blade level by any means, but it's not an Omen. 4) The Slim's design lets you bring this into a professional environment without raising eyebrows Cons: 1) Noisy fans and coil whine out of the box, even on quiet mode. There's an amazing fix for this. Search up "lenovo disable aggressive cpu boost" and follow the directions in the video. There's a registry tweak that lets you show cpu boost behavior in power options. By default, even on quiet mode and battery, the cpu is set to "aggressive", meaning any time it's under even a small load, the cpu will spike to it's highest performance state. I played around with these settings and got about 15c lower temps while gaming at a negligible performance loss. To get complely silent fans in quiet mode, limit cpu speed to 80% and disable aggressive cpu boost. You will still get more than enough performance for everyday tasks, with no fan noise and significantly improved battery life 2) The Slim does not have an HDMI port on the back like it's bigger brothers do. You have to plug in to the USB-C ports on the right side with a dongle to connect an external display. This is exactly where my mouse is. It's annoying. 3) The two USB-C ports can't output past 120 Hz to an external display. I had to go into NVIDIA settings and manually change the refresh rate of my displays because they were detected by Windows but they weren't getting a signal. Tried lots of things. Lenovo customer service confirmed this is the max for these ports (which is beyond stupid). 4) You pay a premium for the slimness of the device. For the same price as this device, you can get a Legion Pro or Legion 7 with a 3070. 5) I had to factory reset the AMD chipset/integrated graphics drivers TWICE before I stopped getting error messages. Out of the box, the AMD control software wouldn't launch.

This is great general purpose laptop that doubles as a pretty good gaming machine. I wish the screen was a little high resolution, as 1080 just doesn't cut it anymore on a laptop with this size screen. Overall though, I am pleased with this laptop. The 3060 can handle almost anything because the screen is only 1080 and the machine is well built and feels solid. The screen is nice and bright, and the keyboard with the number pad is actually quite nice to type on. There was little bloatware, and some of the installed programs are even useful. For the price, this is a good machine. I would recommend for students or entry level gamers that don't need crazy resolutions to game on. Again, the screen really is quite nice and the keyboard is easy to type on. I love have the 10 digit numpad for when I need to do work on the laptop. It is also slim and light enough to slip into any bag and you're on your way. The 512GB SSD is a little on the small side for me, so I added a 2TB SSD. I install programs on the main drive and everything else goes on the 2TB drive. I have mine loaded up with Steam Games, movies, shows, documents, etc. All around a good laptop for people that want a daily driver that can also run most games at relatively high settings when they want to game.

Very good and portable gaming laptop. Screen brighter than 300 nits advertised. Only one slot for Ram upgrade, you get another slot for nvme ssd 2280. Getting inside the machine is quite difficult (not recommend if you don't have the appropriate frying tool) Battery life - average, but consider this is a slim gaming laptop, it is adequate (4-5hr, uninstall iCue) Gsync work over usbc Fantastic build quality - metal chassis (finger-print prone though) Keyboard: good enough, RBG lightning (pre-set or customizable with iCue) Trackpad: average, get the job done, some accuracy and feedback issues * Return because difficult to upgrade (hard to fry off bottom cover, only 1 Ram slot)

I have owned many different laptops and desktops in the past so I feel like I am able to give a fair representation of this Lenovo Legion. I picked up 2 of these for my twin boys for Christmas. I haven't had time to do any true objective measurements to examine frame rates or temperature etc. I can say that I am so far impressed with the general characteristics of the laptop. The aesthetics are great - I like the relatively understated presentation. The build quality is pretty solid - finish is nice and the screen so far has been plenty bright with little to no ghosting. I have seen no light bleed on either of the laptops. They are both plenty fast with everyday tasks and the 3060 handles Forza 5 on Ultra with no hiccups. However, the laptop gets very hot under that type of load - but I've only experienced this with Forza 5 on Ultra - everything maxed. The fans def crank in this scenario, however, I don't find the fans to be overly loud. Lowering the settings a bit on Forza and placing the laptop on a Zalman laptop cooler lowers the heat quite a bit. Games like Minecraft, Roblox Gang Beasts etc are a breeze to run and regular web browsing or downloading apps is whisper-quiet (minimal or no fans). I know some people find RGB keyboard lighting to be garish and tacky but I rather like it. This particular keyboard lighting looks great when lit and I like the shortcut to change the lighting profiles or turn it off. The Lenovo Vantage app is okay but I don't find that it does anything incredibly useful as of yet. I find the webcam surprisingly good and like the built in slide cover. Minor Cons: So far I have only identified a couple drawbacks. I don't love the frequent pop up reminders to finish certain setup tasks or asking to maximize this or that. Also, although I love the addition of rear-facing ports, I feel Lenovo could have added a bit more connectivity for a gaming laptop. I will probably have to get a hub to accommodate common gaming peripherals. Unless you are using BT for everything, even wireless additions (Xbox Controller, Headsets, Mouse) usually require a dongle. I could def use a couple extra USB ports (and an ethernet port would have been nice as well). Probably the biggest con I can identify with this laptop is the meager SSD capacity. At this price point, come on Lenovo - you have to go to 1TB - especially for a gaming laptop. 512GB just doesn't cut it. To be fair, I knew this going in, but it's hitting me pretty hard already (just Forza is well over 100GB alone). In closing, I think this laptop at the sale price of $1499 is a solid purchase. I would have a hard time spending much more than that just because of the small SSD and relatively difficult process (so I've heard) of cracking open the bottom and adding a secondary. I just may pay someone to do it for me. That being said, I have so far enjoyed the short couple weeks of ownership and look forward to seeing what else it can do.

Overall the laptop performs really well! From typing essays for exams to being a hardcore Warframe lover and video editor, this laptop can still handle games of our current era! I will warn you tho, just like most gaming laptops it does have a weakness when it comes to cooling. Not too crazy but if your deciding to use this on hot summer days with and have no backup/external cooling methods, your going to want to limit your usage.

For the refurb price of $1000 I couldn't ask for more. Pros: - Good repairability and access to components. The fact that lenovo is still selling a battery for this guy 2 years later is a good sign for what is to come for this machine. - The screen is nice and large (and high refresh) - Keyboard is solid - Trackpad is large - Fast hardware - Slim and high quality build - Great thermal management and quiet under light tasks - USB-C PD is super nice Cons: - Mediocre and quiet speakers - Battery life is generally good (around 8 hours on light tasks) but can be inconsistent (sometimes is more like 4 even with dgpu disabled) which is frustrating - Windows is a buggy mess (don't get me started) - Linux support is lacking as the mux is non-standard at the firmware level which causes issues

After having the laptop for about a month I can say that this is a solid buy, if you can find it at the right price. Pros: - Form factor. It's smaller and more compact than other laptops - It does the job for typical 1080 gaming at a low to medium setting - Note: A few games I've played on it include Three Kingdoms, HALO Infinite, and a few others - Sturdy design, no flexing - Keyboard; not a mechanical keyboard but there's some weight on the keys to feel more tactile - The "Bloatware" included with the laptop wasn't unbearable Now for the Cons - The total weight for carrying this thing... it's heavy with the 230w brick (I certainly do not think it is necessary TBH). - Keyboard heat when playing at full blast, it can get quite hot and almost unbearable at times - Battery life, do not plan on playing AAA games for longer than 2 hours (if at at that) - ICUE is garbage and I highly recommend uninstalling - No fan control - I haven't yet tried installing another program to try to control it but other reviewers have said it's not possible

Absolutely love this laptop!! Very impressive how thin and light it is for the amount of performance you get. I’ve had no problem running all my games at 1080p max settings. It does run a bit hot, but that is to be expected with any gaming laptop especially thin ones. A tiny complaint I do have is the battery life is not amazing, but at the end of the day it’s a gaming laptop .. Not a notebook laptop. Very happy with my purchase! Go Lenovo :)

Do you plan to play high FPS first person shooters with this? If so - TAKE NOTE. You have to replace the Realtek wifi chip with something else (I went with Intel AX200). I read a review on here from someone with an open box who returned due to this same issue. They were not wrong. I ordered two of these for gamer kids, who do up Fortnite (have read Reddit posts about same problem with CoD), both experienced roller coaster up downs of internet connectivity. Full connectivity to no connectivity back to full, Wtih my other Lenovo Y740 on playing no issues. Impossible to play with this Slim even when set next to the wifi router. Hardwired through dock is fine of course. I am a huge Lenovo guy, I burned through HP, MSI, Asus in my quest for the right laptop for my kids, they all stink with thermal performance, other strange issues that kept me from keeping them. This machine nails so much, but just missed on the Wifi chip. Being a nerd, I grabbed a new Wifi and for $40 over the top of the sale price of this machine at $1199, I now have the dream computer for the kids. It should be a 4.5 review but can't do that. Audio is great, keyboard is great, Screen is just stellar, track-pad is a trackpad. Benches just below UFO on user bench - the 3200 RAM is XMP'd out the gate, Hard drive has snappy solid performance, battery (configured for auto-saver in Windows) gave me about 6 hours of netflix watching. Case opens very easily as well to add that second NVME. It is a really good laptop, a steal at the Best Buy sale price...you just have to spend $40 more for a better wifi chip if playing high FPS games (I should note every other game is fine, Minecraft server, no problem)

I would recommend this to a friend

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 15 Gaming Laptop, model number 82K80083US. This model ships with the latest, wide-range/high speed WiFi-6 frequency WiFi installed. WiFi-6 is also backward compatible with older a/b/g/n/ac frequency WiFi. If you are getting less than expected WiFi performance, check to be sure you have the latest version of Windows on the computer. Then update all BIOS files and drivers up to that latest version of Windows. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo Legion utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Legion Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Legion Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Legion Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Legion Ultimate Support at: 888-278-9707. Lenovo
