Customers are positive about the Legion Slim 7's performance, battery life, build quality, screen brightness, and portability, with many praising its lightweight design and excellent display. However, customers are negative about the laptop's tendency to overheat and generate noticeable fan noise, particularly under heavy load. Some users also expressed disappointment with the sound quality of the speakers and limited storage options. Overall, the positive aspects of performance and portability seem to outweigh the negative feedback regarding heat, noise, and audio for many users.

I really do like gaming laptops in genral
The way their designs go and with the amazing performance it all holds. The thing is, it's always too heavy with a short battery life and a fancy design which makes it hard to carry around outside.
This legion laptop caught my eyes on display and I could not belive that it was a gaming laptop. The simple slim design and its performance was enough for me to stop thinking about which laptop I wanted to get.
But as always all laptops have it's pros and cons
As I mentioned the weight and the design being more casual to me was a big pro with its battery lasting almost 8 to 9 hours when just watching youtube and working on documents with dim backlights and quite mode. I am even thinking about switching this laptop battery to a 99watt one so that I dont even have to think about charging when I am outside.
But then to admit, when you use ryzen cpu and graphics cards, its not the same as what the nvidia graphics with intel gives you on a gaming laptop so if you do play very high end games that you know the 6800m cannot handel, abd also if you need that dlss 3 from nvidia for your max experience i would say go for something else.
Also this comes with one sodimm and one soldered ddr 5 4800 ram totalling 16gb. I changed mine to 40gb since I needed more ram for multitasking but normally 16gb is good enough. For the ssd i am not sure why but the amd edition, it only has one slot and kind of sucks that I cannot upgrade with 2 ssd like the legion slims with the nvidia can but I figured one 4tb ssd is also enough for most people who want upgrades so its good to rake considieration
Also i cannot tell the difference between 144 165 and 240 hz but this is a 165 which is good enough for me
Also when now its all open box going under a 1000dollars get it when you can

This laptop has really been a great all-around laptop for my day to day use as well as able to handle the latest AAA titles with relative ease it seems. Everything I have thrown at this thing has been so buttery smooth and I am impressed with it.
The specs of this thing are incredible, but there are a few downsides as well. I will start with those first. The RAM not being fully upgradeable is a bummer and the most you can have and still keep the dual channel is what it comes with. 8GB of DDR5 is soldered onto the motherboard so you are stuck with that. My second complaint is the lack of an Ethernet LAN adapter port, I had to go out and purchase a USB to Ethernet adapter and that leads me to my third complaint of not enough USB Type A ports, there are only two and that is another bummer. My fourth complaint is the placement of the power/fingerprint reader button. It is very close to the monitor and if you have big fingers or long nails, good luck using that. Lastly, the lack of being able to add additional internal storage, although still not a deal breaker, is unfortunate.
Now for the good, the 2560x1600 resolution screen is beautiful! It is nice and bright, and the colors seem very accurate to my untrained eye. The 165Hz refresh rate responded quickly and I have not noticed any motion blur while watching movies or playing COD. The included 1TB SSD is speedy and I have noticed no issues with it. The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor is one of the main reasons this laptop has been able to handle multiple excel spreadsheets and other processor intensive tasks that I have asked it to do. Not one slowdown that I have noticed. The Radeon RX 6800S 8GB graphics card has been fantastic as well. I have a gaming laptop from another manufacturer that has a competitor chip inside (3070 model with 8GB) and this Radeon RX is just slightly slower that that one, but still its not that much slower. The 3D mark TimeSpy scores are just hundreds off. I mentioned earlier that I wished this has a third USB type A port, but it does have two USB Type C ports located on the left side. The right side has the 3.5mm headphone jack, a full-sized SD card reader (nice!) and a physical button to disable the camera (very nice). And to round out the list of ports, power and USB type A ports are on the back. Trackpad has a glass surface and is fast and responsive. The power button does support windows hello, but the built-in 1080p camera does not from what I can figure out. Battery life is rated for about 8 hours, but I have only been able to get to the 6.5-hour mark and if I played a game or two, then you can count on that number going down dramatically. The down firing speakers are good enough for me, but I did notice that they don’t get too loud. Lenovo also offers the option via their Lenovo Vantage software of upgrading and extending the 1-year warranty for very reasonable prices. I plan on getting the 4 full years of coverage, so I won’t ever have to worry about this since it even covers accidental damage or spills.
Over-all, the sexy slim design will fit in well with any business environment and the 4.51 lbs. is not too bad to carry around with you. This is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and your fellow employees won’t know how much of a monster this PC is.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16 AMD Advantage Edition, Gaming Laptop, model number 82UG0002US. This Legion Slim 7 configuration ships with a 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0x4 NVMe solid state hard drive installed. The maximum storage capacity that this model configuration can support is: One drive, up to 2TB M.2 2280 SSD. The Storage Slot configuration is: One M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4x4 slot, supports M.2 2280 SSD. We recommend you consult with your certified technician about your storage up grade options. This Legion Slim 7 configuration ships with a Integrated 71Wh, Lithium-Polymer Battery, which within this model configuration has a battery life of up to 9 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. To maximize battery life between charges, switch your Power Management Settings to a Hybrid Power Setting. Some other battery saving tips are: Set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery Charge Threshold is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. You can turn off Battery Charge Threshold within the Lenovo Vantage APP installed on this computer. In Vantage select Battery Settings and turn off Battery Charge Threshold, if turned on. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 11 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://websiteforstudents.com/how-to-find-what-is-running-in-windows-11/. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 11. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your Windows 11 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If you have questions about your Lenovo Legion Slim 7 16 AMD Edition Gaming Laptop, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support for more information at: 877-453-6686

After going through the setup process and finishing all updates, the laptop runs smoothly. It doesn't get as hot as my older gaming laptop. Another perk is how it doesn't look like a gaming laptop. My games has been running smoothly and I did upgrade my ram, if you browse through q&a it will mention what others have used. No rgb lighting on keyboard, but I can live without it. i'm still in the process of yesting it so hopefully it can last a long time.

I bought this to do programming as a dedicated unit from my work computer. So far it has been fast and impressive. It was easy to set up and charges very fast. It is very light and doesn't get hot. The screen is very bright and sharp and it has edge imaging-like a flat screen TV or smartphone. It has a keyboard that while light touch is easy to type on. It has a lot of connectivity options which is very helpful. And I love that it has a separate keypad. I wish the backlit keyboard did the rainbow pattern but that is minor. I'm happy with my purchase so far. It has more than enough memory and it is lean and just flies especially on web pages-love it. It is pricey but I like this more that intel based machines and like the graphics better than NVidia so far. I haven't had it long enough to give it five stars but I would recommend it to someone looking for pure horsepower for IT type work

Thin and light 16" gaming laptop.

Let me get the major pros and cons out of the way up front:
Pros:
- Surprisingly portable 16" gaming laptop.
- Generally solid, attractive construction.
- Gorgeous screen.
- Good sound.
- Good connectivity (2xUSB-A, 2xUSB-C, HDMI, SD card, headphone/mic, separate power).
- Solid 1080p webcam.
- Good everyday battery life.
- Surprisingly cool, even when pushed.
Cons:
- Sacrifices some power for portability.
- Fan can get a little loud.
- Keyboard and touchpad quality is so-so for a high-end laptop.
- Questionable power button/fingerprint reader placement.
Overall, this is a solid gaming laptop with a nice balance of power and portability. Battery life is quite good (~8h for basic tasks like web surfing). That is, as long as you don't make heavy use of the discrete GPU but that is to be expected. The screen is spacious and bright with good color accuracy and HDR support which looks absolutely amazing on the 16" screen for my favorite games! I'm a big fan of AMD-powered gear and this laptop is another good reason to not worry about leaving Intel and NVidia behind.
For gaming, I can play my newest titles at full resolution and high/epic quality at reasonable/playable frame rates (40-60 FPS). For a thin and "light" 16-inch gaming laptop, this is acceptable. Display, sound and performance allow for an immersive gaming experience. The fans kick in when the GPU does, but heat is very well controlled. Fan noise is louder than I'd like, but less than other gaming laptops I've used.
On the downside, there are a few odd choices, mostly input related. The keyboard is responsive but not the most pleasant I have used on a higher-end laptop. The touchpad (which is not really good for gaming anyway) seems a little flimsy. The oddest choice for people with larger fingers (or longer fingernails) is the power button/fingerprint reader being positioned right up against the screen hinge. I find it a little difficult to get my larger finger to cover the sensor completely. When I do get my finger on the power button, however, I am rewarded by a fast and accurate unlock.
I did have a few stability issues with the laptop in the beginning, but I think these have now been fixed with Windows updates and patches, so I'm not deducting any points. I don't think Lenovo should be held responsible for Microsoft's OS.
Bottom line: For a 16" laptop, the Legion Slim 7 is surprisingly portable and performs adequately to play games on the go, just don't forget the large power brick if you want to do a lot of gaming away from your desk.

I got my first Legion 7 Slim delivered and unfortunately it crashed over 20 times in the first day while trying to download a game and watch youtube. I took it back to best buy, exchanged, and new one was at my house in 2 days. The new one is AMAZING. The screen looks great and its handled every game and benchmark I’ve thrown at it. I was hesitant to exchange instead of refund at first but it was the right choice. I love this laptop. This is the slimmest yet most powerful laptopI’ve personally laid hands on.

Plays games like Destiny 2 and Apex Legends at around 80 to 90 fps without changing anything.
Ableton Live and Gimp open up blazingly fast and are ready to go.
Fans do go brrr but they're not loud or annoying.
Battery life is ok. Probably gonna wanna be plugged in.
Keyboard does get hot.
Screen is very nice, metal body is too.
Rare but sometimes the computer has restarted while on standby or sleep mode.
Laptop is on the heavier side but nothing you can't handle.
Backlit keyboard is nice (white only).
Speakers are a no go (they be ok).
Fast fingerprint censor is cool.
No ethernet port, needs adapter.
When put to sleep or falls asleep, it will exit out of your tabs for some reason. Maybe it's just me.
Overall great computer, not perfect but nothing is. Could always return it if it isn't your cup of tea.

This laptop covers most of my wants and needs in a laptop and I am happy to write a review for it. Overall, I am very impressed with Lenovo and the quality of the Legion Slim 7 AMD Edition. The last Windows laptop I had was a Surface Book 2 so the things I value center around screen quality, build quality, and performance.
Screen quality – As noted by everyone, this screen really is great. While I have enjoyed bright, 4K glossy screens from the Surface Book and Macbooks, this screen holds out well against those. The screen is plenty bright, and everything looks nice and crisp in productivity apps and wonderful in gaming.
Build Quality – Compared to Microsoft laptops and Apple, Window laptops generally leave you feeling like you have a cheap piece of equipment. Port placements, quality of materials, and cooling mannerisms typically leave much to be desired. This isn’t the case with this Legion laptop and the overall quality is great. Lenovo has put thought and care into their design and software and it shows. The ports are all located in great spots. I love the ports on the back with the led lights. The camera notch up top looks great and works well. Fingerprint scanner is fast and effective. I love the keyboard with then number pad and the keys feel great. The off centered tack pad works well but caused me some issues at first due to the placement and the issues stemmed from my hand being on the edge of it. The rapid charge feature is great and the hot keys for the performance settings is nice.
Performance - This thing is fast. Geekbench 5 score of 1533 single core and 7865 multi-score while in quiet mode. Fans barely kicked in. CPU-Z scores were 627 single and 6377 multi core in performance mode. Fans kicked in at the end. Not terribly loud. Most of the time, this thing is silent. There are times when the fans kick in due to whatever is running in the background (downloading updates, anti-virus, ect.) but mostly it runs quiet unless you are gaming. With performance mode on and gaming, I registered around 48 decimals (dB) with an apple watch located right near the vents. So unless you are getting after it, this laptop is a quiet beast 90% of the time.
Upgrades - I got this laptop while Best Buy was running a sale, so I invested in some upgrades. While it would have been nice if there was a second m.2 slot internally and no soldered ram, I didn’t find these to be too big of an issue. I added a 16gb module (24gb total) and noticed no diminished performance. I also bought a 2TB m.2 drive and an external enclosure. Very fast transfer speeds and no issues besides having to plug in a dongle.
Other thoughts - Battery wise I am very happy with the laptop. No official tests but using the laptop normally I have easily gotten over five hours with plenty of battery left. The audio from this machine is the only thing that struck me as disappointing. Its not horrible but to me, the sound just seems a little off. Regarding fans and performance, there were times in which the laptop seemed to either not run at full speed or the fans seemed to run more than they should. This appeared to be resolved by either updating the software or playing with the options in Lenovo Vantage and Battery settings.
Compared to the Intel version of this machine, I’d rather have the better screen than an extra m.2 spot inside and thunderbolt ports.

I travel for work and I have owned Nvidia and intel laptops in the past, this being fully AMD has been a game changer literally. I've had the asus g14 and g15 as well as the MSI g65 stealth and decided I wanted to try and all amd option. This is also my first Lenovo gaming laptopm and i couldn't be more impressed! It runs everything I've thrown at it from rdr2,ffxiv, ac Valhalla and Odyssey (which took a lot of tweaking to get working without lag or fps drops on an rtx 3070 ti ) . This laptop is smooth, quiet and stays surprisingly cool . The biggest gripe are the speakers but they have nahmic software for sound and it seems to work for the most part. I recommend this big time and will probably stick with all amd for the future.

A Beast!

This laptop is a beast! Stout and sturdy build, high quality internals, and a beautiful screen.
I have owned several gaming towers but this is my first gaming laptop and I have to say I am impressed with the performance and build. Everything runs incredibly smooth from the OS to the screen thanks to the Ryzen 9 and the Radeon RX 6800S. It has handled everything I have thrown at it so far. It is the "slim" version which seems laughable since it is bigger than all my other laptops, though I guess I should expect that considering what's under the hood. The case seems very sturdy with a strong hinge. The camera sticks out of the top of the screen so there is no notch in the screen but above it which doubles as a way to lift up the screen when the laptop is folded.
Speaking of the screen, the 2560x1600 resolution makes games and videos look crystal clear. The refresh rate keeps things buttery smooth. Playing Forza is always fun but it looked amazing on this screen.
But how is the battery life? It depends on what you are doing. If you are gaming at 165htz and 100% brightness you'll get about an hour, oof. Consider though that the point of a gaming laptop is to be able to take your gaming with you on the road to be played somewhere else, not necessarily to play on the road. If you change up some settings like lowering the refresh rate to 60htz (standard for most laptops) and lower the brightness, I have easily gotten 7+ hours of web use and idle time.
This is a powerful, beast of a laptop. You won't regret your purchase.

It preforms pretty well and overall is a pretty light laptop to lug around. I bought an open box and there seems to be a problem with the wifi chip. It struggles to maintain a connection and will usually be fine after a restart. Overall it’s good machine that can run most games and get other work done as well. Its been okay. It gets extremely hot while gaming (nothing crazy. Sims 4 more than anything lolol) and both of the fans blew up (fan blades everywhere) within the first couple months of use. Lenovo wont just send replacement parts to you. You have to send your laptop to them. Even for something as simple as a fan replacement. And will be without your laptop for up to a month. I couldnt do this because i have a job that requires me to use my laptop so i had to replace with offbrand fans (lenovos arent available). It has been a huge headache and I will never buy another Lenovo product simply because the customer service blows.

I believe in the concept of "work hard, play hard." As a pharmacy student that is constantly traveling to wrap up their rotations, this laptop perfectly embodies this concept. It looks clean and classy to take with you to hospitals, clinics, and classrooms without getting weird looks from your coworkers, preceptors, or patients. I can confidently say that this laptop lasts an entire shift at the hospital (8-10 hours) if you do balanced mode, no more than 50% brightness (100% brightness is blinding, in all honesty), and are in hybrid mode. Fast WiFi works with every single connection I've tried so far. Keyboard is an absolute joy to type on and I can bet that it'll hold up to sessions of League, Valorant, or CS:Go as well. The only time I've heard it spool up and get noisy was when I tried to replace my current desktop and plug in my two office monitors and all I/O into it, but it quickly died down. I haven't had an opportunity to game much on it, but I can say that running Citrix, Zoom, Edge (20 tabs), Spotify, and Wallpaper Engine running a 4K background is not a problem for this device.
