Great Starter PC - Lacks Some Functionality (iGPU)

Overall, not a bad PC if you're not planning to do some serious gaming. It has decent specs for the price and will work well for an average user. Lenovo seriously knee-capped this PC with their "Legion" branded motherboard and opting for an iGPU capable CPU with no way to swap between integrated & dedicated, which is why I only give it 3 stars. Here's what I like and dislike about it:
*Pros*
-Price: can't beat the $800 price for what you get
-Speed: I don't do a lot of heavy gaming, but there's a few I play on occasion. My old PC couldn't keep up - terrible lag and low FPS. I was getting 25fps on low graphic settings with my old PC - this Lenovo PC is giving me 200+fps on the highest graphic settings
-Aesthetics: It's a cool looking tower with RGB lighting. If you're into that sort of thing, this has it and you can control it from the Lenovo Vantage software.
-Quiet: This PC is silent, even when really pushing the CPU & GPU. This is great because I will be recording podcasts with this PC. My old laptop was so loud that my mic would pick it up every now and then. Not the case with this Lenovo.
-Memory: It comes with 8gb of RAM. I immediately tossed that and loaded it with 32gb (2 x 16gb 3200mhz). There are 4 memory slots, so you can expand on that even further. The case was very easy to open - took 2 minutes to install the new RAM.
-Power: In previous Legion Tower builds, Lenovo opted for a 400W power supply. That left a lot to be desired and didn't provide much room for swapping in higher powered components. For this one, they used a 650W PS. Very nice.
*Cons*
-iGPU: In much of the marketing literature, Lenovo touts that this PC has an integrated GPU (Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics) and a dedicated GPU (RX 6500). I was excited about this, because there are a few things I do that required swappable graphics. Lenovo's gaming laptops can easily swap between integrated and dedicated via the Lenovo Vantage software. That is not the case with this desktop. There is no point in including the info about the iGPU in the specs for this because it isn't usable. There is no option in the BIOS to enable swappable graphics and the iGPU does not appear in device manager. Had I known this, I would not have purchased this PC because it doesn't meet my needs. At this point, I have no idea why they opted for the 5600G instead of the 5600X. The main advantage of the "G" is that it offers decent integrated graphics. The "X" does not offer this, but clocks in at higher processing speeds. I would think most gamers would pay a few bucks more to have a little bit more speed instead of having an iGPU that doesn't work with the configuration.
-Motherboard: This uses a B550 microATX motherboard, which I was pretty excited about. However, this is Lenovo's "Legion" branded MB that has been modified. The ports have been seriously knee-capped for what would typically come on a B550. There is no display port for the MB, which is likely why the iGPU is not accessible. You must have a dedicated GPU for display. Not a big issue for most folks, but does not work well for my purposes.
-AMD GPU: This isn't Lenovo's fault, but it has made me regret this purchase. I was not aware that newer generation AMD GPU's are not working well with games that are based on DirectX 9. Two games that I regularly play are DirectX 9 and will not run on this PC. I figured out a workaround by partitioning the HD and loading Linux in a separate partition. You can then enable vulkan rendering via DXVK in wine games. Kind of a pain, but my games work now. Also, the RX 6500XT is not compatible with the Xbox Game Bar recording function. Another simple feature that worked on my 9 year-old PC but is not working on a brand new gaming PC, what a bummer.
Overall, it's a decent PC if you don't plan on doing anything crazy. For the price, you get a solid starting point for venturing into the world of PC gaming. For my personal needs, it was not a good fit and I didn't find this out until I started messing with it. I will likely keep it and just swap in a new B550 motherboard that will allow me to use the iGPU.

Perfect mid range gaming computer for me. I needed a midrange gaming computer since the place I’m moving to is mainly hot and humid most of the time so heat is a factor for me and this Lenovo Legion 5 should work flawlessly since I won’t be gaming most of the time and I tend to play mostly older games. Easy upgrading when needed and I love the layout of the Lenovo. Setup was easy, no unnecessary bloat ware, fast booting and very quiet and acceptable heat

A very fair priced and good quality starting computer, especially being pre built.. I recommend anyone that buys this computer, and wants to have a lot of apps/games and files on it that you will need to upgrade the actual memory cards which is relatively cheap to do.. and also upgrade your RAM because 8 GB is bare minimum if you intend to game. With that being said I bought this for my little brother and he can play warzone and other “demanding games” with little if ANY frame drop at low/medium settings with max view distances… he also has not upgraded his ram yet and has no problem listening to a video or music in the background while playing games. LASTLY the tower has decent room to add new parts..ALL IN ALL, and IF IT WASN’T obvious already I do highly this computer for starting pc gamers.. then it coming with a mouse and keyboard is helps save a few extra dollars, though the mouse isn’t the greatest.

I'm not a serious PC gamer but all the the games I have played on this have run smooth as butter. For the price it is a great mid-level pc right out of the box the only 2 things that I will upgrade is the RAM and storage as in 2022 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is pretty weak. If you need a PC that is able to play high level games and use for school/work for under $1,000 this is one of your best bets

This was definitely a worthwhile purchase for me. Turned out to be around the same cost if not cheaper than building my own PC when I bought it on sale.
I ended up replacing the GPU with an Sapphire RX 6700 XT 12GB card for $200. And upgrading the ram to Corsair Vengeance 16GB for around $35. Thankfully they don't design their towers the way DELL does. You can actually replace parts really easily.
The only downside I was unaware of is that the ram is set by default at a lower speed than 3200mhz. Some Lenovo motherboards don't let you change this in bios like other brands allow. This was easily resolved by downloading AMD Ryzen Master and adjusting the settings so now it runs as it should.
All in all I'm happy with it almost a year later.

It's not what I thought at all. I'm not a computer expert but I thought this would be able to handle a lot of data and photography processing since it had big storage. We knew we would have to add some ram but it still has struggled to keep up with 5 tabs open online. I also don't like the way programs are now. No My Computer, everything goes to cloud, not actually to the computer. Hate it actually. You have to pay for basic office features like Word.

Good computer, I bought it on sale, the processor without a graphics card is lacking in terms of video games, with the card you can play competitive games or heavy games in low-medium quality at 60, the RGB looks very good, the computer For its promotional price it is a very good purchase, only the only detail that I found is that the processor is a PCIE 3 version and the graphics card is PCIE 4

My honest opinion about this pc it’s amazing for what is is but for sure upgrade the ssd on it and ram and maybe the graphics card but it depends on what games you want to play on it like fortnite you will get roughly around 120 fps by lowering your quality of graphics but overall great for me because I’m new to PC it’s easy to set up and to navigate through I prefer pc now over console (coming from a ps5 and switch owner)

Great beginning PC, I have been able to play any game but do have to adjust the settings to make it smoother. I was able to double my FPS on almost every game by upgrading the RAM to 16gb. Overall a great start that gives you the option to upgrade as you please!

Excellent PC for beginner or intermediate gamers. Got everything you need to play pretty much any game out there on average-great graphics and frame rate. The case is also more than large enough to allow for future expansion and customization. I bought this as an alternative to building my own, and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made. Excellent value when I bought it for $639.99

My fiance builds/works on towers. He says he hasn't seen a cleaner prebuilt build in awhile, wire management is great, you can add and remove things without having to tear the entire thing apart. Definitely recommend as a starter gaming PC, it loads up quickly, runs smoothly and the lights aren't too bright in it, the controls are easy to set to ones liking. Amazing machine.

Great PC. This thing is fast. It looks like a beast, and the RGB lighting is a nice bonus. Spend a few more bucks and add some RAM and you're set. There's also room for another M.2 SSD as well as 2 HDD's so additional internal storage is a piece of cake. The GPU is stellar, and the Lenovo software is impressive too. I highly recommend.
