Regarding your issue with battery life – as you may know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery and in gaming laptops that can increase even more due to their high-powered processors and graphics cards. If you want to squeeze out more battery life and are completing non-intensive graphics tasks, you can utilize the MUX switch built into this model to turn off the dedicated GPU to greatly decrease power draw. This can be done in the Lenovo Vantage app > top right box > GPU working mode, then choosing your preferred method. Users can also take advantage of the keyboard shortcut, Fn + Q to toggle thermal modes and easily switch between prioritizing battery life or power, or even the best of both words, along with custom settings configurable in Lenovo Vantage. You could also press the Fn + R key combo to toggle to a lower refresh rate for even greater power conservation.

Decent Laptop for the Price

Hard Drive Woes; Fixable.

But as some know, manufacturers often use b-stock components specifically in their holiday models and for me it was the QLC 512GB SSD that was throttling and overheating this laptop to a crawl. I've had mini PCs with lower specs that ran smoother. The SSD couldn't sustain big download files (writes) like games on Steam if you have fast wifi or directly via ethernet. Once the SSD's virtual cache fills, it has to empty which cause Steam downloads to drop to 0Mbps momentarily, and this constant refreshing will overheat the drive, thus computer. The solution is to cap your download speed in Steam which is unfortunate. The other solution is to add/replace the SSD itself with a TLC SSD for your Steam library (or any large file writing). Some good though, I felt the trackpad is a tad better than the one in the Legion 5 15.1" and the speakers too. 1080p is good enough, not as sharp as 3K when you're doing regular PC tasks, but when gaming it's not noticeable. RTX 5050 is more than enough for 1080p gaming! But I don't chase max FPS, I prefer a solid 60fps with quiet fans which is achievable on this laptop and 5050. I think the CPU is 2 generations old? But really any CPU within the last 5 years is solid. Conclusion, great budget gaming laptop when on sale! But I'd reconsider at retail price.

Great content creation laptop!

To start, regarding performance, this could be due to excess heat which can lead to performance throttling to protect internal components. This LOQ is equipped with an active cooling system, along with other components and software, designed to enable the user to power through work without throttling due to heat produced. We recommend that the bottom of the device, where the air intake vents are, is clear of obstructions to increase air flow. Additionally, this LOQ features Smart Control, enabling the user to use the key command combination of Fn + Q to toggle between thermal/performance mode.
For instances where you may use the device in your lap or a situation where the intake vents may be obstructed, we recommend switching to cool or quiet mode to help with the heat felt on the bottom of the machine.
Also, please check for and apply any available updates through Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update Settings to help ensure you are using the latest software and drivers to ensure your system is running as efficiently as possible.

It has played all the games he wants to play and done so with ease. he was getting frustrated with the frame rate and the lag from his previous laptop. this one has the chips and processer that makes the issues nonexistant. Run the Built-In Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
- Run the Network and Internet troubleshooter
