Customers are saying

Customers value the LOQ 15.6" Gaming Laptop's performance, ease of RAM upgrades, and good graphics capabilities for the price. Many appreciate its build quality and the option to expand storage. However, some users point to less-than-ideal battery life, screen issues, and the laptop's weight and heat generation as potential drawbacks. The fan noise was also noted by a few customers.

Lenovo LOQ mixed bag of tricks

Really wanted to like this Lenovo gaming laptop. Elegant and reserved style for a gaming machine. The blue color was kinda weird at first, but the fin vents won me over. Excellent keyboard feel for the price-point. Very quiet operation while being a performance beast. Excellent benchmarks all around. Never got really hot along top case around function keys. (The Nitro 5 from 2019 it replaced would cook an egg up there.) Did exactly as hoped for the ONE game it was primarily for. Now the disappointing bit... It had the intermittent no-boot after shutdown or hot-plug power and then shutdown that the forums noted. Also had driver and other conflicts between the 7840's integrated GPU and the NVIDIA 4050 discreet GPU. With some deep fiddling of the BIOS, and Windows tools, and other adjustments way beyond the average consumer, I was able to get mostly stable performance by completely disabling the integrated GPU and more micro managing game graphics settings. But it still had stuttering and other graphics and boot weirdness. I didn't buy a new machine for that nonsense being included, and reluctantly returned it. I bought up to another brand and higher price point, but, Intel CPU/integrated GPU and NVIDIA discreet GPU. No driver or other issues. Intel plays well with NVIDIA, and AMD plays well with Radeon, but hoped this mixed combo would work for me to get that 7840 CPU. If you have one (it's gone now), and ducked the issues above, it rates a 5/5. As I experienced it, only two stars for a good try, Lenovo.

Good CPU and decent GPU4050. Needs more system RAM

Decent laptop for budget gaming. This laptop has a fast Ryzen 7840HS CPU that is very fast - scoring 30k in passmark. For comparison, my desktop Ryzen 5600X only scores about 22k, and it can play any game out there in 2023 without any problems. The 4050 graphics card is also pretty decent for this price range ($700 used, $800ish new), and performs about equal to a desktop 2060. My desktop GPU 3060Ti is still much better, but I paid $400 for that graphics card alone while this entire laptop cost me around $700ish. The 512GB SSD is ok - not great, not bad. Performance and storage space is both mid tier and to be expected for this price range. RAM is my main complaint. It is strange why Lenovo cheaped out with only 8GB of system RAM. 8GB makes the computer slow when running multiple programs, and 16GB is the recommended amount these days. Another 8GB of RAM (for a total of 16GB) would've only cost them $20. They should've had this laptop start with 16GB of RAM. The battery life is ok, about 4 hours when using the internet (less than 2 hrs when gaming or doing anything intensive). The 1080p screen does not the best color display, but it is overall is acceptable and ok for this price range.

I have to admit, this laptop has become my son's new best friend, and I'm starting to get jealous! It's like a magical portal to the gaming universe. Every time I see him using it, he's got this huge grin on his face like he just discovered the secret to eternal happiness. I half expect him to start introducing the laptop to the family as his new sibling. But hey, if it keeps him entertained and out of my hair, maybe I'll buy a matching one and we can all game together. Who needs family game night when you've got a laptop this awesome? It's practically a member of the family now!

Very capable gaming laptop. Fast. I'd suggest adding another stick of 8gb ram. Only drawback is the display is not high-end, but neither is the price.

Decent cpu and gpu, but low memory for gaming. Also runs hot, so you’ll need a cooling plate if you intend to play newer games on medium graphics settings.

All the problems I had: Bad touchpad - Not sure if it was a system or physical issue Low Ram - Heavier games (or apps) like Marvel Rivals and Fornite you will see lag and must sacrifice quality for performance. ____________________________________________________________________ Good qualities: Normal games can run amazingly well, Valorant, Overwatch, etc. ____________________________________________________________________ Versatility (Would I recommend?): I would only recommend if you just want to do gaming nothing else and don't mind to sacrifice quality. Heavier things like video editing, or other things is not a good investment. It's not terrible, but there are better options.

Nice configuration except a little low on memory. The track pad could have been bigger (coming from Mac) The good thing here is upgradability on memory and hard drive. 2nvme slots 4x4 is a big advantage. The bigger bezel (big chin) is a let off they could have made it to 16 inches display easily. Type C is charging the laptop as high as 80watt so a big plus. Love 7840u every but if it. Whatever you throw at it takes and kills it easily.

Good specs can run games that I want more than 60fps but after a week I got blue screen maybe the ssd was broken or the operating system was corrupted I tried everything I could but it won’t let me I tried system restore, uninstall the latest windows updates I even tried to reset the laptop but won’t let me so I returned it and replaced it for a new one hopefully the new one doesn’t have any issues (will update soon after 2 weeks of using the new one)

This PC is way better than what I had before, I'm just not used to having up-to-date hardware. The only issues that I've had have been third-party software being badly optimized (Discord, as an example, is all over the place). A lot of that should be recitified with some more RAM, an upgrade I was going to make anyway. Felt like a veritable steal for the money I paid and has been a worthwhile investment if nothing else.

Traded in a 2020 Macbook PRO M1 to try out this LOQ and I am not disappointed. Out of the box this thing runs faster then anything I've had in the past. I did and do recommend upgrading the RAM to minimum 16gb though because you will run into some issues with the 8gb on certain games as other reviewers have pointed out. Battery doesn't last forever but its a gaming laptop and having the cord plugged in provides much better power options.
