Customers frequently mention the large screen size and touchscreen functionality as significant positives, praising the performance and ease of use. However, many comment on the relatively short battery life as a significant drawback, with some also noting the weight as a concern. The ample storage and impressive graphics capabilities are also frequently highlighted as positive aspects.

Got this at a steep discount, but once I did more research, I learned that the intel arc graphics card is not something to be desired. Constant updates. Possible conflict with windows updates undoing GPU driver updates. No resizable bar. VRAM claims to be 4GB, but when running Halo:Infinite, it only accesses 3.92, which does become a problem and does not run very well.
Upside is, it has a ton of storage and a decent amount of ram. I like having the smart options of controlling the refresh rate and intelligent fan speed mode. After I got help with the Geek squad/remote control, I was able to have a little better experience with this laptop.
Still not sure whether I will hang onto it, or not. Intel arc has a long way to go, in order to optimize this GPU.

I got mine for practically half of MSRP, BestBuy was having a great sale on it, so for ~eight-hundos instead of full-price it was a great deal, but bear in mind that everything I say here is relative to that sweet price that I paid.
For what I paid, you can't get this much quality/specs/features pretty much anywhere else. The devil is in the details, you can get a 16 inch screen anywhere any day of the week BUT you can't get 500 nits of brightness + touchscreen so easily. I have been a fool in the past and not paid attention to details like brightness, but now I realize it's one of the most important things to me. One of my other laptops has a meager 250 nits of brightness (and that's only when it's plugged in, otherwise its limited to 200!!) 200-250 nits on my old laptop does not cut it in a brightly lit room, or in a car during the day. 500 nits gets the job done, the screen can be clearly seen even in sunlight which is pretty impressive. Then throw touch, 120Hz, and 2.5k resolution on top of it and you've got an uncommonly great screen that doesn't show up on just any mid-priced laptop. It's a gorgeous screen.
Moving on, the chassis is quite good too. Real aluminum. Cold, solid, durable, beautiful. Reasonably good array of ports. Only thing I could have wished for was an ethernet port and for the SD card slot to be full-depth. SD cards only go in part-way so you wouldn't leave a card installed and throw the machine in your bag, but at least you don't have to dig out a card reader. It can and does charge on it's USB-C port, but only up to 100w, so you won't necessarily charge fast depending on what you are doing. If its light browsing it charges just fine. Nice for travel to potentially not have to carry the slim-tip adapter (assuming you know you are not gaming or doing intensive tasks while traveling, you definitely want the slim-tip power for going full throttle). Thunderbolt-4 works well also, I have been using this with my Powercolor Gaming Station eGPU and it works flawlessly.
Last things on the physical side, the keyboard is great, love having the numpad and full arrow keys. Great layout. Nothing I could ask for here except that I do love a ThinkPad trackpoint, but you have to buy an actual ThinkPad to get that, and surprisingly most ThinkPads have inferior screens unless you are buying the highest of the high priced models.
Last thing on physical, it is heavy. I'm OK with that. To get these kinds of specs at the price I paid, I expect to give up something and weight is the best place to compromise (for me). The ultra-thin laptops have poor selections of ports and poor thermals that restrain sustained system performance (I have one, I know, nothing worse than trapping an i7 in a paper-thin body). For work I have an X1 Extreme and its similarly great to this 7i but it's also at least triple the price. Sure my X1 is a pound and a half lighter or whatever, but this is my money vs my company's money so when I have to spend it I have to look at whether a pound or so will really break my back, and it doesn't.
This machine has decent fans and cools well provided you don't put it on a blanket or any other soft surface that restricts air flow. The fans are not too noisy at high load.
The ARC graphics card can contribute a decent amount of heat while gaming, but hey, it can game. When I use my eGPU this laptop actually stays surprisingly quite cool during gaming, apparently when you take the graphics load out of the machine the cooling for just the processor is a breeze for it. One thing that I believe personally helps keep heat down and makes the battery last a lot longer is to IMMEDIATELY go into Lenovo Vantage and turn OFF the fast charging feature for the battery. Fast charging creates a lot of heat. Heat is the enemy of battery longevity. If you really need a quick charge its OK to do that once in a while, but I would not suggest leaving that setting on all the time as usually I personally have no reason to fast charge and it makes everything inside the chassis hotter, heat robs performance and lessens battery life. Otherwise use your power modes appropriately and with the above heat and fan noise is not an issue for me.
Performance of the laptop is quite good with all those cores and the discrete graphics. The entry-level arc is nothing to write home about, but for those who know they want AV1 encoding and decoding (video editors), the ARC is great, it also handles a moderate amount of gaming. I like that the internal card is NOT an nvidia card because I have found that having two nvidia cards creates issues and conflicts when I'm using my ePGU. When I want more gaming performance I plug in my nvidia card externally and no conflicts with ARC and I'm off and cruising. Conversely my old thinkpad from work with the discrete nvidia card has issues adding a second nvidia card to the mix, so in a weird way it works well for me to have the ARC card. Really lets the processor run free, or so I would think except that I catch Intel Iris graphics doing a lot sometimes, maybe to save battery(?)
Battery life is not as great as I hoped. Kind of the trade for the power I guess. I get 3-4 hours with light use, full brightness video conferencing can burn down the battery in a little over two hours... so I have some battery anxiety with this unit but I also have a lot of outlets in my life, so overall I'm still ok with it, but I would have loved to have had more battery life. I guess I will drop a star for that as it is a good bit below its rating and my expectations for battery life. That is the only thing I can ding it on, though.
Overall the laptop is a good performer as you would expect from listing its specs on paper, and unlike the thin travel laptops it can sustain good performance over time playing some games or doing video editing which is great. I think I would have paid up to 50% more (3/4 of MRSP) and still been fairly happy, but since I was a lot closer to 1/2 of MSRP I'm thrilled. It's an outgoing model at this point in 2024, a good two generations behind in CPU, but a very strong CPU nonetheless and if you can snag similar savings like I did it could be well worth it to pick one up before they are all gone.

Hello, andrewr. Thank you for choosing Lenovo! Regarding your issue with battery life – as you know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery life. Thankfully, many of those variables can be adjusted. By default, the system will tend to give more speed when needed, which can sacrifice battery life. If you want to squeeze out more battery life, we recommend users utilize the Lenovo Vantage application that is preinstalled to adjust settings related to power and battery performance. We are glad to hear that your Slim 7i is working out well for you, meeting your needs, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.

I have been a die hard HP fan for years. When I couldn't find the size I wanted with all the options I am used to for THE PRICE I wanted to pay I took a suggestion for one of the guys in the computer department. I am VERY pleased with this machine and purchased when it was on sale, sale. I may consider another one... wait did I just say I may buy something OTHER than an HP again? I really like it. The only thing it's missing is a unique color, brown or blue would have been awesome. The only negative and the reason for the 4 that I considered making a 3, is the battery life. The battery life stinks

It was a little heavy for what i was expecting but it is great! It is actually a little overkill for what i need it for, but its great with Xbox game pass and for my non-work related use. The screen is awesom for movies, games, and especially for paper work. I use the touch screen to sign documents for work.

Decent laptop. It has a beautiful display. However, it seems like i do too much at once at it has to take a few seconds to catch back up. This usually occurs while im listening to music, typing a lengthy assignment, and have multiple browser tabs open.... I'm a college student.
