No need to set a manual alarm - just tell Google what time you want to get up. Has a USB port in the back for charging your phone, although it is a slow charge.

Alarm doesn't sound

Technical support through Lenovo tries to pass off as two different volume levels being available for the speaker and the alarm (which is true). Sat on the phone with them to reproduce, we were able to reproduce but they offered a diagnostics look and replacement that would last 3-4 weeks! I see this is starting to be a common occurrence through other sites. All of this after two weeks of ownership. Best Buy refuses to return after the period. Lenovo offers no efficient solution. Please save the money over the risk of this happening to you. Not with the time, money and energy to deal.

Its small size is a major advantage for small nightstands. OK sound quality.

While you are not able to set alarms remotely at this time you can set Family Bells remotely. When A Family Bell sounds you will hear a bell followed by the assistant reading aloud the name of the bell notification.
