This laptop is leagues faster than my old one. That is mostly due to SSD and updated processor. It runs very silent 90% of the time when running chrome, word, powerpoint, excel, etc. all at the same time and even when streaming content hooked up to an external monitor. It only seems to throttle when the device is plugged in and is being used to perform these tasks. This is a non issue, since the battery on this will last for 6+ hours easily depending on usage. I say 6+ because streaming and browsing do use a lot of power.
The only department where this laptop is lacking is in the build quality, which is plastic. The base and key board are solid, but the screen housing seems just a touch too pliable for my liking. So be careful with this if you are taking it across campus and to class. Overall, build is a little disappointing considering the regular price of $740, but if you can find a great deal, say around $500 or less then it is a non-issue.
I have had this laptop for about a month now and it has been showing no signs of issues. Solid thinkpad from lenovo, lightning fast, light, and good value for students who don't want to risk paying for a mac just to have a roommate use it as a plate.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo ThinkPad E495-14 laptop. Thanks to the ironclad durability that comes with being a ThinkPad, you can carry the ThinkPad E495 with you everywhere. What’s more, with its smooth lines and sleek design, the ThinkPad E495 looks as much at home when presenting at a client meeting, as it does while working in a hip café. Regarding your ThinkPad E495 throttling up when plugged in, check your Power Management Settings when the computer is plugged in. It sounds like the power setting on battery is different from the power setting when the computer is plugged in. Here is a link to instructions for changing your Power Mangement Settings within Windows 10: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027067/windows-10-how-to-adjust-power-and-sleep-settings

I am in love with this computer! I haven't been in a position to buy a new laptop for years nor have I needed one very much until recently. With the transition of everything to online and remote work due to COVID-19, my last laptop was just not cutting it and couldn't handle zoom calls. This computer has well enough space I have been able to install and play games on it with ease for those breaks in between school and work. The graphics are well done and solid, the ease of use of the system is wonderful, I have yet to experience lagging of anything even if I have quite a few programs open at once. The design is sleek and comfortable. The only very very tiny thing I think I should mention for others is you can hear the fan in the laptop as well as the touchpad isn't sensitive but a wireless mouse takes care of that if that's important for you. Overall a very wonderful computer.

This is a good laptop but I had bought it on sale. I don't know if it is worth that full price tag.

I purchased the Lenovo Thinkpad for my wife. She loves her computer. It was worth every penny. Every review she read before choosing this brand was absolutely true. This is by far the best computer she has ever owned.

The laptop is ok, but the memory reduces to 6GB in reality due to AMD video card uses about 2GB of memory out of 8GB. I couldn't find a way to lower the video card's memory usage... AMD Ryzen family does that, but there usually a way to tweak it so that the usage could be much lesser if you are not a gamer. It's disappointing.

The Lenovo ThinkPad E495 Laptop ships with the Ryzen 5-3500U processor with integrated Radeon Vega 8 Graphics. Since graphics processing is integrated within the processor, VRAM is allocated from the 8GB DDR4-2400MHz system RAM. All integrated graphics processing software uses a portion of system RAM for graphic processing. The Ryzen APU architecture allocates 2GB of system RAM for graphics processing due to the higher quality of images found on today's web sites and basic Windows 10 requirements.

Was trying to get a cheap laptop on sale for Black Friday last year, and i made the worst choice possible. This laptop had such slow startup and decides to stop working whenever I need it most. Even with only one application over the computer sometimes decided to freeze and shut the application down. I don’t know if there was some inherent defect with mine, but it has caused me so much misery over the year. Get any other laptop
