Laptop over heated within months will not turn on!

I’ve only had this laptop for about 5 months or so and it’s already given out! It was good at first up until yesterday. I tried to turn it on and it did not want to. The fan sounded like an airplane taking off and the laptop heated up pretty bad. The keyboard lights up but the screen would not turn on. Basically 800$ for nothing. I have no idea what I’m suppose to do now ! I didn’t buy the warranty because of personal money factors so now I’m basically stuck with a laptop that doesn’t turn on. My mistake. I start my college courses on January 21st and have no idea what I’m going to do now. Would not recommend this brand.

Mid laptop, trash-tier customer support

Be warned, Lenovo Support is a major hassle to deal with. Sent unit in for repair, just to have it returned to me with scratches on/creaks from the chassis when picked up, thermal paste smudged all over it - and a partial system wipe, for a display replacement. I escalated the issue and refused repair, as their quality was terrifyingly bad. After back and forth with Customer Care, I was sent a replacement laptop - and it was shipped across the country 3x due to them failing to properly enter my address. On the third use, the replacement developed bright flashes in the bottom corners or the screen whenever the display was adjusted, less than 30 days after I received it. Now am back to back and forth with Lenovo, and have been without a properly functioning laptop for over 3 months. Customer Care is now refusing to replace the unit again, and is offering either a refund (on a 9 month old computer) or to attempt repairs on the replacement laptop, despite their poor repair quality being why they owed me a new laptop to begin with. No warranty extension, and I've got 3 months of warranty left, so they've wasted 25% of my warranty *just* during the back and forth. The computer was nice while it lasted, but I have been left disgruntled by Lenovo's customer service, and expect that I'll be buying something else regardless of how customer care wishes to resolve my current issues - I'm appalled that a company would rather just dissolve their relationship with a new customer than right damages caused by their mishandling of a very simple issue. Buy a Dell, buy a Mac, whatever you buy, buy something else.
