    Good but fan was problem

I’ve read nothing but good reviews about this computer but I believe my own has a defective fan. When I first got the computer I had absolutely no problems with the computer it self, the Wacom pen however was a different story. After about a month of light use however the fan began to become loud and vibrate so now using it to take notes is a disruption in class. Other than this I am satisfied as the computer has performed well on all of the tasks that I have performed with it. I’m hoping that either Best Buy or Lenovo will stand by their product and fix this obnoxious problem.

    Great Potential But Falls Short

So I bought this product today. I exchanged a Dell Inspirion 13 7000 series I had purchased originally (problems with the speaker) in order to upgrade to something that I was told was an upgrade, not only to the speakers but to the screen as well. Now don't get me wrong, the Lenovo Yoga 720 has a beautiful screen compared to the Inspirion. The keyboard feels great and the boot time is very snappy. But there is an inherent problem with with product: the fan noise. Now it is my fault for not doing my research before purchasing the product; this seems to be an issue with other models of Lenovo laptops and 2-in-1's. The fan kicks up for no reason, under very little stress. I can open up chrome and I can hear it start to fly. If it is doing anything under stress (such as an update or downloading software) the fan becomes obnoxious. Again, this doesn't seem to be an isolated incident, as many reviews have suggested that there are issues with the fan noise. I just don't understand how products are shipped out like this. This may not be a big deal to some who may be using it in louder settings; but as a college student who needs relative silence in order to study, it is a huge distraction. I will probably go back to the Inspirion 13 7000 series and deal with a sub-par screen than to stick with a horrid fan. Really sad since I was really excited to start using such a nice laptop.

A nice laptop but a few issues

    Posted .

My trusty Dell laptop was coming up on its 6th birthday and was definitely on its last legs so I decided it was time for a new one. I first ended up getting a great deal on an open box Lenovo 910, but I could not live with the misplaced shift key issue, so I returned it for the Lenovo 720. I also bought a Dell Inpsiron 5000 series i7 model at Costco and I used the two head-to-head for about a week. I really liked the look and feel of the lenovo - it was more high end looking (definitely going for the Macbook look) and I preferred the feel of the keyboard as well. Though the Dell was an i7 and the Lenovo was an i5, I didn't really notice much difference in speed on day-to-day tasks. I don't think the Lenovo's speakers sounded quite a nice as the Dell's but I don't use the speakers all that much anyhow. So I ultimately returned the Dell and kept the Lenovo. That said, there are definitely a few issues with this laptop. I actually had to return the first one that I had due to an issue with the backspace key -- it only worked if you hit it exactly dead center in the key with exactly the right amount of force. I ended up swapping it out for another one where the backspace key works fine. (Thanks Best Buy!) Also, the Lenovo has only 3 total usb ports and only 2 are really usable since one is used for the charger. And of those 2, one is usb-c which is the new style that isn't very widely used yet. So you really only get one normal usb port - I had to buy a big dangly hub to split that USB port so I could plug in my mouse dongle, fit bit dongle, mp3 player, etc. It kind of defeats the purpose of having such a sleek streamlined machine if you have to buy a big usb hub to sit next to it. I also noticed that the fan was kind of noisy at times -- my husband ended up doing a bios upgrade on it and then finally removing some extra software that came installed on the machine before he got the fan to quiet down. Also, I'm having repeated problems with it falling off my home network - I'm not sure if that is the network or the laptop though, so the jury is still out. It is aggravating though, and it is the only device that does it, so I do think it may be related to the machine. Other than those issues, I have been really happy with this laptop - I love the touch screen and the ability to flip it over into kind of a tabletop easel tablet (great for streaming netflix!). And it is so light and small compared to my old laptop -- I just hope it lasts as long as that one did!

    Fan noise is extremely obnoxious

I purchased this on 4/18/2017 and the laptop is great, it runs smoothly, touch screen is perfect, light weight, decent 6 hours of battery, everything is great. Except one thing, the fan. My goodness the fan is extremely loud. it kicks in every 5 minutes on full blast and is embarrassing when you're in class on in a library and all you can hear is the whirring sound of the fan. It sounds a if I have 20 programs open when in reality its just on the home screen. if the sound of a small typhoon wont bother you, then over all this is a perfect laptop.

    Excellent despite hesitations...

Overall I've had a great experience with this laptop. Its fast and sleek but also surprisingly sturdy considering how thin and portable it is. It also came with hardly any bloatware out of the box, which I appreciate Lenovo for greatly. This is definitely the one to buy if you are looking for a more affordable 2-in-1. However, there are a few things stopping me from giving it five stars. The first is minor, but the trackpad is far less intuitive than what I am used to. So much so that it is actually more comfortable for me to use the touch screen and avoid the pad altogether whenever possible. The touch screen itself is near flawless. The second drawback is the fan, like many other reviewers have mentioned. It never gets TOO loud, and it never lasts very long, but it is certainly noticeable. Especially in a quiet room. I'd understand if it spun up during heavy use, but it will start when I have only 2 chrome tabs open. Its not a deal breaker but I hope there is a bios update in the future. The third and final problem almost caused me to return the laptop on day one. It simply would not run Chrome. Any more than one tab open and the browser would lag like crazy then eventually freeze altogether. I decided to wait another day to see if things improved, and was surprised to see that by the second day it had absolutely no problem running Chrome, even with a dozen tabs open and it doesn't slow down. To end this on a positive note, the overall experience has improved over time (I've had it for about a week). I wish the battery life were a bit longer but its acceptable, and i'd like more than one USB type A port instead of 2 type C's but I knew what I was getting when I bought it. Photoshop cc runs great on this thing for the designers and artists out there, videos play well, and the fingerprint scanner is a nice edition and works great.

The computer looks good and is very light weight. It has a backlit keyboard which is nice. Screen is okay. Also, no loud fan noise. Turns on in an instant. When I first got it, the wifi did not work well. It kept disconnecting and also webpages would take longer to open than they did on my 5 year old HP laptop. I was concerned I wasted my money. I did some research and changed some battery savings setting options and also did a Windows 10 update. The wifi problem went away and now the computer is working great. I am actually enjoying using it. A few bad things. Battery life is not good. Three hours is about it. There is no HDMI port and I had to purchase and HDMI adapter for about $15 which works fine. If the battery life was better, I would give it 5 stars.

If there was a way that I could give 100 stars, I would!! This 2-in-1 is everything, and more, that I was needing. I am a junior in college, and was searching for something that was extremely portable and that was touchscreen. This bad boy weighs almost nothing, and the touchscreen is astonishing. I consider myself an "Apple man", but after playing with the Yoga in my local store, I have changed! This is almost identical to a Macbook Air, but without the Macbook pricetag. This is a MUST for a college student!!

Perfect 2in1 but the Fan Noise

I bought this 4 days ago. Size, shape, weight and the look is PERFECT (it looks very PRETTY :). Easy to use in tablet mood due to light weight. keybord is nice (except up/down arrows too small), Keybord back light is too bright (at lower setting). HAS ONLY 1 USB, NO VGA adaptor. Battery life about 5 hrs. By the look it can compete HP spectra. Unfortunately as few other users also mentioned it definitely has a problem with fan. First two days I did not connect it to internet (I had lost my WIFI password). There were NO fan issue at first two days before I connect it to the internet. Since I connected it to the internet in Yesterday morning the fan WON'T STOP. It was running all the time, but some times it runs pretty fast and make excessive NOISE. It get really hot as well. I had open a folder, Microsoft word, Edge. But fan did not stop untill night. I played 'Asphalt 8', no any other issues everything is smooth (even can be easily played in tablet mood due to light weight), but the lap top got VERY HOT and two fans were running so loud and fast with very hot hot air (felt like two silancers of the car I was racing :D). Tried to install BIOS as Lenovo suggested, but it was failed saying 'The version of ROM file is not newer than that of BIOS'. Then I changed the settings in " power options > change plan settings > change advanced power settings > processor power management > system cooling policy > change both options to PASSIVE " , as one of the users suggested. I do not know if it really affected, but in the night it was a little bit cooler and ok. But when ever CPU performance goes around 20% fans kiks out. This is my first experience of this kind of issue and I am quiet disappointed. Even though I really love the machine, I might return this if issue of the fan persists. Kindly EXPECT and answer from LENOVO I would recommend this to a friend ONLY IF NO ISSUE WITH THE FAN

I had my heart set on a MacBook and walked out with this laptop due to better specs. I really like it, and its very versatile especially for school, writing papers, etc. Lightweight, it is NOT noisy whatsoever and it doesn't get hot, also the mouse pad is fine, I don't know why other reviews here state otherwise. Very sleek and pretty fast. I love the 2 in 1. I just wished Lenovo had a hard case to protect it. Now I just pray it lasts!

I purchased this laptop for clinical private practice. I researched this laptop on the internet, bestbuy, youtube and cnet. The reviews were typically good however there was a complaint about opening the laptop and the fan noise. I have not experienced any loud fan noise whatsoever. It is difficult to open it up due to the top and bottom being completely flat which helps it remain very thin. I think this is fixable just hadn't figured out how. The touch screen is amazing, note taking so easy, set up fast and east and I love Cortona. The only thing that you might want to think about before purchasing this laptop is the cost of the stylus, $70. I thought I could purchase one from Amazon that would work just fine. NO!!!! The bamboo stylus is the only one that will work with all the windows apps. I do recommend this laptop. It is cost effective, an abundance of features and easy to use.

I needed either a laptop or an ipad pro for work after my 5-year-old ipad finally gave up, looked at both but ended up buying this little 2 in 1 and couldn't be happier. I chose the 13" for portability mainly and I am amazed by how thin and light this laptop is, great solid built, great features with windows 10 and windows ink + pen. Also noticed super fast performance for my needs, it starts windows in few seconds and works great, comparing this Yoga 720 with the Specter its almost half the price for the same exact specs, its a no brainer. I would recommend this laptop to anyone with no hesitation, would be nice if the pen was included but I understand they need to keep the cost down.

Been waiting for my company to say we could get new laptops, been looking and looking for something sub $800 and ran across this. Read the reviews and knew it was the one. Know before you purchase that all the USB ports are 3.0 so different form factor, same with the thunderbolt port for an external monitor. I'd recommend purchasing an adapter with the laptop, vga, hdmi etc, also get a bluetooth mouse, the mousepad is quite sensitive but you can customize it to your liking. This thing boots up as fast as my iPad and weighs almost the same. I'd buy again.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 720-13. With regard to the touchpad, you can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad. lenovo

Can honestly say this computer has by far been one of the best I've ever laid my hands on. The processor not being an i7 really has helped me get through studies and work. I love how fast it goes and how easy it is to use. There are a lot of awesome features, it reminds me of Apple (mac) computers when it comes to speed and reliability. First I had got a MacBook air witch was around the same price but expensive with Apple tax. I liked it , it was smooth and light but it was outdated the screen was terrible the Intel I5 was really dated and Apple has not updated the air for awhile only minor upgrades. So I returned it after a day and saw the Yoga and was amazed This laptop is very light and powerful, with a SSD and I5 , 8GB Ram this is perfect for college , Its a full 1080P screen and its amazing, keyboard is better then the MacBook air and the trackpad is amazing just like the macs ,plus you can fold it and use it as a tablet for movies. if your looking for a laptop for college this is a good choice fast, good screen battery , keyboard trackpad and light up keyboard with build in JBL Speakers Cheaper then the air and the pro that cost way more with the same stuff.
