It's a good laptop and honestly my experience with it wasn't that bad. If reliability of this thing was bulletproof and I didn't have to deal with lenovo customer service for repairs, I would easily recommend it. I love taking notes on this thing especially paired with the lenovo pen pro. I'm however going to have to replace this laptop because it isn't even a year into it's life cycle, but it's already experience major screen flickering problems. This wasn't something I was aware of while reading and watching reviews but its a problem that plagues many yoga line laptops because of the poor routing of the display cable. A simple search for lenovo yoga screen flicker will reveal countless other people with the same problem and countless other people getting absolutely no support or any proper responses from lenovo regarding the problem. This is my first lenovo laptop and it will be my last until they fix the poor build quality or actually honor their warranties regarding manufacturer defects.

Screen Cracked and Unusable after 11 Months

Started off as a great laptop; however, 11 months after buying it new the screen cracked near the hinge for no reason - it was not dropped or mistreated, only opened and closed. The laptop is unusable as the touchpad and touchscreen no longer work. We considered paying to have the screen fixed, but after reading that others have had the same problem with screens cracking near a hinge, we thought it would continue to happen. The design of the glass screen next to the hinge without any plate to protect the screen looks flawed. After spending so much for a laptop that lasted only 11 months, we've moved on from Lenovo and replaced it with a different brand.

    Screen Flickering

I read some of the reviews before buying this about the screen flickering issue and thought that there would be no way I'd get one of the laptops with that issue. I've had the laptop about two months and have been plagued for the last month with the flicker. It has gotten to the point where the screen becomes unusable when it is having one of its flickering episodes. I took it into GeekSquad last week to get everything updated and had high hopes that it would come out fixed. This was in alignment with the recommendations Lenovo has made in response to other reviews on the flickering issue. Last night as I was sitting down to do some homework, the flicker reared its ugly head again (one day after picking it back up from GeekSquad). The way I get it to go away is by moving the lid or slightly tapping the side of the machine (makes me think it is hardware related). I can almost guarantee that the response from Lenovo will be that I need to update drivers (that's why I went to GeekSquad) or that I need to reach out to technical support, which will in turn require me to send the machine to a service center (I chatted with them briefly a month ago, and that's what they wanted me to do). The problem is that I am in school and need a machine to do school work. I can't go without a machine while I'm waiting for it to be repaired. I hate writing a negative review because I really like the look and feel of the laptop. It is the perfect size and really was what I was looking for. That being said, I don't feel that it is unfair to expect a laptop to be dependable and usable two months after purchase. From what I'm seeing in other reviews, a number of people aren't having this issue, so maybe I just got one of the lemons. Feel free to roll the dice...

Wish I could even give a zero stars. I don't know whether to blame best buy or Lenovo. I first got an Asus 2 in 1 ,14 inch from best buy which just shut off and could not be switched on and this happened intermittently. I had to return it within a week of purchase. I got this one because most of my friends had the 15.1 version and I opted for 13.3 because I always prefer a portable laptop. And that was the beginning of an end. The screen flickers so bad, some of my colleagues get upset just by staring at it. It could even trigger seizures in a predisposed person! And now..I have a completely blank screen.... Nothing shows and it's been less than 2 months since I got this ..supposedly brand new laptop from best buy. Terribly disappointed!

We are sorry to hear that you are having screen flicker issues with your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. The issue you describe may be caused by a recent Windows 10 update that also requires a separate update of both BIOS and video drivers. This can easily be accomplished by using the Lenovo Utility software installed on this device. If you can not boo the device up, you will need to restore the device back to factory original settings. To do this, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. Once the factory reset is done you can now update all the operating system software on the device by using the Lenovo Utility software installed on this device. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. This laptop's features are great don't get me wrong. Its lightweight, easy to use, and is very fast. However one year into using it and the screen started to go out. It would flicker off and come back on. It progressively got worse and eventually the screen wouldn't go back on. I took it to a repair shop. The cost to fix the screen was over $350 due to the FHD screen. They also said it was very difficult to replace. They said the reason the screen went out is because the cable connecting to the monitor is very close to the hinges of the laptop. So constantly opening and using the laptop in tablet mode led to the monitor going out. Well fast forward a year after that, and lo and behold, the screen is going out again. After fixing it the first time I never used it in tablet mode because I wanted to be sure that the cable wouldn't be damaged but flipping it around. The cable is some how get damaged by just opening the laptop. I love Lenovo, but they need to fix this issue on future products. The moment this screen completely goes out I am going to have to get a new lap top because I am not going to spend twice the price just to get it fixed. Stay clear from this laptop!

Bought Lenovo yoga 730 in may 2018, the screen started flickering after 5 months off and on, finally took to best buy they repaired it, but started flickering again. Since it has passed 1 year called lenovo CS, they said they were not ready to take care, but after long discussion and many calls finally they agreed to send shipping label, but never recieved one. Its one of the worst laptops ever, lenovo's product quality has gone so bad and so is the CS. I have U430 before, never once had a problem, not going to buy lenovo products again.

We shopped for a new laptop for my daughter's senior year then hopefully for college. We found the Yoga 730 was great for size, weight, appearance, and features for its price, and bought it. Word to the wise - read those negative reviews and take heed before you buy. I wish I had. A couple weeks after the 15-day return period, the screen flickering started. I have performed the recommended system and BIOS updates as instructed in multiple reviews, they didn't help. The machine is virtually unusable. Next step will be to call Lenovo support, i assume i will have to ship the unit in for repairs. Don't know what the girl is going to do for school while her PC is in the shop. i am one Disappointed Dad, I never expected this kind of crappy quality from a company with such a good reputation.

I purchased for this my daughter who is a freshman in college. The computer was purchased on 8/3 and on 8/22 she called to say the screen is flickering. She shut it down and powered it back up and it was fine. She had the same issue over the next few days. Finally, on 8/29......Friday before Labor Day weekend....it was getting to the point where it was hit or miss if it would even work. Of course the school's Tech Department was closed for the holiday. She took it to them on the 4th and they were unable to fix it and by this time the screen was just black and the computer was not usable. Today is the 11th and she is still without a computer as they are waiting for the part to fix it....they will not replace it. AND, her HUGE business project she started working on is on the computer so now she has to start over again. It's a huge stress for kids starting college to begin with all the adjustments and now to add this to the mix it has been an awful start to the school year for her. All of her books are online. All of her assignments are online. It has made it very difficult for her to get a routine in school because of this laptop fiasco. We spent a lot of money and had hoped to get 4 years out of this computer and it is not starting off so well.

I bought this computer 1 year ago. I was interested in the Microsoft surface laptop at the time, however the sales representative at Best Buy pointed me in this direction since they are pretty comparable. I was hesitant from the start because I was not familiar with the lenovo brand. I ended up buying the product because it had a pretty high overall rating. I did extensive research that day when I returned home and called Best Buy customer service to answer some of my questions (one being about the repeated screen flickering reviews). I was not treated the nicest, but overall came to the conclusion that this laptop was going to work for me as a student. Three months ago the screen flicker started to appear on my computer! It has proceeded to get worse and worse and is super frustrating. I called Lenovo and they said it is most likely a hardware issue. They initially were going to do nothing for me because I was 3 days out of the one year warranty. Lenovo customer service finally agreed to allow me to send in my computer for a one time fix. This is going to take about 20 days from start to finish (and there is still a chance the issue can come back!). Luckily I have a family member's laptop I can borrow since I am a full time student. I would not recommend this laptop or lenovo products because I know this is a repeated issue. If it wasn't for the flicker this computer would easily be a 4 star rating.

I was looking for a computer for college. I saw this at a high price, but it seemed really nice. I got it and it worked fine for the first 2 months. After it started to flicker. It got worse and worse every day until I was unable to use it. I then went to have it fixed. Couple days later and $65 dollars down I got it back. They said it seemed like the cord came loose. I thanked them and was happy to have my computer back. An hour later it started again. I cant afforded to have them fix it again and I leave for college in a day. I'm now down almost $900. I tried to fix it the way they said to and it did nothing. I looked at the reviews and this has been a problem for MONTHS. This is a disgrace to Best Buy and to Lenovo. I didnt het the warranty because I was on a tight budget. Won't be using Best Buy or Lenovo ever again. Thank you for wasting my money.

This is a great little 13 in. computer except for one major flaw. The wire that connects the screen to the motherboard is located next to the hinge and over time begins to pinch the wire. This leads to the screen shorting out randomly. I brought it into a repair shop months ago and was told this was a known issue in the Yoga 730 line up. Sadly the year warranty had passed so when I reached out to Lenovo to address this issue no help was offered. It is sad that this is a known issue that has been widely reported and yet Lenovo won't even offer to fix the issue. Because of this and how it limits the life of the computer as you cannot use a laptop without a working screen, I cannot recommend this computer.

I purchased Lenovo yoga 730 about a month ago in mid Aug 2018. I initially chose yoga 730 because of its value and quality (storage space, light weight and battery life) over other laptops. Well, the battery life is about 6 hours max, not even close to what they advertised in store (up to 11 hours). I called the customer service and they said 6 hrs is typical and there is nothing they could do about the battery hours. My issue with yoga 730 is not the battery life though but its reliability and durability. It literally died after 3 weeks. The screen turned to black and it just stopped functioning that I was not able to use it for a week now. I called Lenovo and they said I will need to wait few more weeks until they can get the parts. Overall, I paid $800 for a laptop that lasted 3 weeks. It is UNACCEPTABLE! It sounded like a good laptop but it is not reliable and badly made product in my experience. I regret buying Lenovo and I will never buy LENOVO again!

Not sure if we got a dud, but my daughter has been having issues from the start with this computer. Purchased in August 2018 prior to school starting. Monitor has constant issues with flickering and lines across the screen and constant glitching at times. It is an on and off problem so sometimes doesn't present but the problem has just gotten worse. We have taken it in to Geek squad twice under Lenovo's warranty with them sending it off to get wiring for screen replaced. Second time, lady at Geek squad was kind enough to just open it up to look at it. She moved wires around a bit to make sure they weren't getting trapped in hinges. At this point my daughter has gotten frustrated that she does not want to take it to school anymore because she can't get anything done on it as it flickers constantly anytime she puts it on a hard surface.

I purchased the laptop for work. Within just one year, conveniently right after the warranty expired, the computer started giving us problems. The screen blacks out and glitches/flickers (for lack of better words) all the time making it impossible to continue using. We took it back to geek squad at Best Buy but the cost of shipping the laptop to have it diagnosed + repaired was going to be pretty costly so we decided it was not worth fixing. I ended up buying an apple instead. I have not had a problem with that laptop.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. It is possible that resetting the computer back to original factory settings may correct the issue you are having. Here is a link to instruction for a normal reset of your Windows 10 computer:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415. If you can not boot the computer properly to the Windows 10 desktop to do a normal reset, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

We liked this computer, had it about two years. About one month after the warranty was up the screen began to flicker, you constantly have to adjust the screen for it to stop. This progressively got worse over a few months and is now completely unusable. The laptop ia fast and fit our needs but reliability and longevity is the worst laptop I've ever had. When you Google lenovo yoga screen flicker there a ton of people with this problem and Lenovo will not recall them. Buyer beware.

I purchased the Lenovo 730 on Sunday 11/11. Took it home and start installing and moving files to the new laptop. Everything seemed to be working fine until Monday 11/12 evening. I continued to work on it and the screen went black. I thought it went to sleep mode but nope... Hardset the laptop to reboot and then it was stuck in a loop with the Lenovo logo on the screen. No luck with different boot options by pressing control keys. Tried to reset the laptop by poking the small pin hole next to the head phone jack, no luck. The laptop turned on and just do nothing. Plugged into an external monitor and nothing on the screen.... What a waste of time and money. On my way to Best Nuy at 10;20am this morning and if they can get my files back, this is the last time I buy anything at Best Buy.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the Windows 10 operating system on your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. Be sure any software you have installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. I purchased this computer based upon the screen quality, backlit keyboard, and overall design. I found it very difficult to open. You need to stick your finger nails between the edges which are flush. I had problems getting it to start up two out of three times. After 11 days, there was no way of getting it to boot. Recharging the battery didn’t work nor did attaching the power cord. There’s no available customer service for Lenovo. I had to search the problem and follow solutions in consumer forums. After spending 5-6 hours trying to fix and refresh the screen, I finally decided to give up. The Novo button is supposed to boot up the bios menu. I followed every suggested remedy at least three times with no change. The keyboard would light up for one second and the fan would start, then it shut down. No bios menu visible but a totally black screen. Based upon the reviews that I have read, I would never buy another Lenovo. Going back to HP Spectre for my next computer. So glad this happened right away and I’m not stuck with this piece of junk!
