    An expensive frustration

This machine is so frustrating. I just came onto the website to see if I could return it but I'm two weeks too late. There are things I really like about it: the screen and sound. But then the things that drive me crazy: 1. Black keyboard with no outlines. Who designed this?? You can't see the outline of the mouse or the fingerprint scanner. It's so bad I don't even use the fingerprint scanner. The mousepad is a constant nightmare. I literally have to tilt the keyboard or my head to figure out where the mousepad is so I can right/left click. I need to get a paint pen or something to outline it. 2. Wi-Fi is the WORST. I've lived in my home for 20 years and have had countless laptops/computers and have never had an issue like this. I had to buy a booster because without it I got zero bars -- in a 1,500 square foot single story home, no less. 3. Sound just suddenly will go out and I have to restart the computer. I've looked to see if drivers need to be updated but they don't. I really wish I could return it. As much as I hate having to reinstall all the software, I hate the thought of living with this expensive machine for a few years. Lenovo came so highly recommended. Should have known to stay with what worked for me (HP).

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Intel Evo-Certified, Lenovo Yoga 9i-14 Shadow Black model. This configuration ships with an edge-to-edge glass palm rest with the all-new Glass Sense touchpad which brings a whole new experience with 50% more active surface area and haptic feedback. You can make adjustments to the touchpad in your system settings. You can get there by clicking on the magnifying glass at the bottom left of your Windows 10 screen. Type "touchpad" in the search window. Select "Mouse & touchpad settings" from the list of choices. You can make general adjustments to the touchpad there. You can also select "Additional mouse options" for more detailed adjustments to the touchpad sensitivity by increasing the delay of the touchpad. This configuration ships with the latest 6G Intel, Wide-Range/High Speed 2x2 802.11AX frequency WiFi, which is also backward compatible to older a/b/g/n/ac frequency WiFi. If you are experiencing less than expected performance from the individual components of the Yoga 9i-14, first, Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If there is no incompatible software installed but the issues continue, be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer. Then update all BIOS files and drivers up to that latest version of Windows 10. Be sure not to miss any of the updates. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

I love the computer— big screen, good keyboard and functionality. Seemingly fast and easy to use. I got this when I returned another high end laptop that was too small and didn’t work right from another brand. So far very good for work. It’s a bit heavy but it’s a larger laptop so sxpected

First off i would like to say that i really enjoy this computer, although, i had to return my first purchase of this computer less than a week after buying because the bottom left speaker was blown so bad even with the volume at a minimum it was making awful noises. The return process was okay, luckily it was only a few days and i still all the packaging/paper it came with. Fast forward to about four to five months now since ive had my second computer and i opened up a video on youtube and noticed that my bottom right speaker is now blown out as well. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the speakers that i have experienced thus far. When they were not blown they sounded fine but i am not sure why the quality of them seem so cheap. I do not listen to anything over 20 out of the 100 the volume can go to on my computer since i have plenty of other headphones or stereo equipment to enjoy music with. It's just a shame since they advertise the dolby sound but not the dolby quality. Other than the issues i have had with the speakers this computer is amazing, the picture quality and color is wonderful. The responsiveness of the touchpad and screen are very nice as well. I cant forget the battery life, absolutely incredible, at least for the work load i use it for, it will last the entire week until i need to plug it in. Usually lasts about 14 hours for me in the intelligent cooling mode with the blue light filter on. I would recommend it based solely on the performance and picture quality, just be warned of the speakers. Hopefully i just had some bad luck with the two I've gotten and isn't a reoccurring issue with all of them.

Touchpad ruins it. If a fix for the terrible performing touchpad comes out, i will gladly improve my rating. The computer seems great otherwise. It's fast, lightweight, great display. The touchpad is infuriating, a simple swipe with hardly any pressure registers as a full on click and ruins anything being worked on. I'm not the only one to complain about this. Google it. This will be returned next week if a fix isn't presented soon Lenovo. (Yes I've done all updates, spent hours trying driver updates and setting adjustments) Buyer beware!!

I am so pleased with this device. I purchased this for law school, because I had difficulty with my Surface Pro 7's smaller screen. This laptop is gorgeous and looks like it belongs on a future lawyers desk, or any professionals desk. It's not overly flashy, it just looks very sophisticated. One area where reviewers seemed to complain the most was with the trackpad, I don't have any of those problems. I found it tracked well and had no problem moving windows around with two fingers. I will say it is a bit different of a feeling than normal trackpad, but I really like it. Also because its flush reviewers were mentioning that it was difficult to know the bounds of the pad, but there is a thin outline of where the trackpad is, and it has a different texture so you can feel if you go outside of it. Maybe I just have sensitive finger tips but I didn't notice that. The pen is also a nice inclusion, but don't expect this to be a pen you'll use for an extended period of time, its just for a quick note jot or highlight of a document. If you need something more full featured I believe the Active Pen 2 works with this model from what I heard on Reddit. The display is gorgeous. But I had to disable the Intel display settings because it causes an annoying flicker, but I have this problem on all of my PC's so its usually the first change I make. I would have preferred a 16:10 or something because there is a noticeable chin at the bottom that I believe they could have removed at this pricepoint. It just makes it seem less modern than the XPS or spectre line its competing with. It's also nice how quite this runs. I can hear my partners macbook in the other room but I can be in bed when they are sleeping with this and the fan is hush. The battery life really depends on what you are doing. I can usually work most of the day on it if im just taking notes or reading documents, etc. but obviously if you push it, its not going to last that long. I would say I average anywhere from 6-10 hours depending on the tasks, but that is also with chrome running and usually dozens and dozens of tabs so I imagine that would probably give me a boost if I stopped doing that. The keyboard feels great. Nice premium bounce, although it does show fingerprints and smudges so keep that in mind. The speakers are also really nice. Not very bassy but they atleast have good enough sound for a laptop. Also, I really like that they follow when you flip the display over. I have had many two in ones and never realized how much this would change tablet mode for media consumption. The fingerpring scanner is great too. one review on youtube said they couldn't get it to recognize their finger all the time, but I haven't had that problem. I guess just try to redo it in the windows hello settings if that happens. Overall I am really happy with this device. It looks sleek and different, It feels great to use, and if you can catch on a deal like I did its great. When lenovo put the introduction to this a while back I knew I wanted it and just kept waiting to see if best buy would offer a deal.

Could not be happier with the laptop. This speed is fantastic when compared to a Chromebook. The 4K screen, the deepest of color, the sound from Dolby Atmos is so pure. The support from Lenovo is excellent. Not one issue in the three weeks that I have had this unit. Looking forward to the 27" AIO Desktop coming from Lenovo later this year. Five Stars Plus. It is pricey but well worth it, you are future proof for many years to come.

Good product. Many iterations of the 9i. I purchased the shadow black, 512 ssd, 16 Kevin Greene ram, intel core i7 1185g7, uhd 4k 14" display. Open box satisfactory; lucked out, very good condition@Tustin, CA Best Buy. Have had it for 9 days. Everything ok so far(as I knock on the granite countertop and cross my fingers and toes). There is one BUT however: the fingerprint reader on the shadow black units are ultrasonic, mine is very finicky. Don't know if they are all like this or maybe just mine(could be why it was open box returned; the previous owner may have become frustrated and returned it). Everything else works like a champ. Will give an update in the near future. The good: up to date with two usb C thunderbolt 4 ports, and one usb A port that is gen 3.2. These are the latest versions of the usb C and A. Many vendors only offering usb C non thunderbolt 3 or 4, and usb A 3.0; so, caveat emptor when comparison shopping. I'm too tired to write any more...

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo Yoga 9i-14. Here's a tip for making your fingerprint reader work every time: Try lightly sliding your finger over the fingerprint reader. No need to press hard on the reader, in fact pressing hard on the fingerprint reader will distort your fingerprint and cause read errors. Lenovo

Been hesitant to get a Lenovo for years because they were no longer IBM but based on specs and pricing I couldn't pass this value up. The 4k display is wonderful. I had doubts since it wasn't an OLED screen but the display is clean and bright. The sound bar is also excellent, great for meetings, watching movies, or listening to music passively. There are only 2 thunderbolt ports and one usb 3.2 but a $50 mini-dock fixes those issues. Thought I would need a $250+ dollar thunderbolt 4 dock but found that a usb-c dock works fine for my needs. The garaged pen is small yet works fine, responsive and charges quickly.

Wow did Lenovo miss the mark on this one. It has a beautiful screen, very fast and nice looking. I'm a review reader, and by reading the reviews of the mouse pad being hard to control and the fingerprint not working properly I thought people were maybe just judging the computer a bit much. Not the case! They were right! I've had the computer one night and it's going back today. I have an older Lenovo that works better than this, I just wanted something newer. Microsoft here I come! Sorry, Lenovo this product is a dud and isn't worth the money.

I bought this because I wanted a laptop for my startup business, I have always used ipads but this is the best of both worlds, I got the touch screen and approximate size of my old iPad pro but I have the power of a laptop, performance and memory is great, if you are looking for a laptop where you can do memory upgrades and just add a bunch of stuff then this is probably not for you, but for everyday needs or running a business out of a bag pack or small bag, this will fulfill your every need I even have a couple of video games in it even though I have a gaming PC for that.

Some of the things that stood out for me is the picture quality of the 4K IPS panel, the audio, the trackpad, and the finger print reader. I normally HATE track pads and just won't use them. For some reason this one is fantastic. Performing a drag drop or selecting multiple items using this trackpad is as easy as using a mouse. It's fast, precise, and the glassy surface makes movement smooth. The fact I'm even reviewing a trackpad is funny to me but there were a few reviews here complaining about the track pad. Since the whole hinge is a sound bar the audio is surprisingly good for a laptop. The finger print scanner is also very fast. The laptop has what feels like an instantaneous unlock. Having used Surface Books the one things I didn't care for was the stylus pen. It's very small and flimsy feeling but it does seem to work okay in OneNote. But I hardly even use it on the Surface. I would have also liked to see a camera that can support Windows Hello, but the finger print reader makes up for that.

It is a very nice and powerful computer with up to date specs. The only issues relate to the fingerprint scanner that doesn't work well and identifying the edges of the trackpad, they are so subtle that it is easy not to feel them or identify where they are.
