    Returned because of flickering screen

We had this laptop a total of 3 days. The first day, everything was great. The second day, we started to notice an occasional flickering. By the end of the third day, it was every few seconds intermittently. While rebooting, the bios screen was flickering too. Tried the updates that Lenovo suggests and nothing seemed to fix it. After researching, we found that this is a common problem for the older c730. We just returned it.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-15. Windows 10 should not cause any screen flicker. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

Had high hopes for the first seven months of using product. Deteriorated quickly from there. Issues with hard drive, then the fan unit, now the graphics card. Have had to send in for service twice and will be sending in a third time. Don't let good reviews fool you.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-15. Be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer, then update all of the BIOS files and drivers up to this latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software installed on the computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

Hello, we are sorry to hear you had this experience with the Lenovo Yoga C740 15" laptop model #81TD0005US. This unit is rated for up to 15 hours of battery life. If you are getting substantially less battery life, please adjust your screen brightness settings. A setting of 100% brightness will drain your battery much faster than a lower setting. We recommend setting the screen brightness to some value below 100% that is still comfortable for you to view. Next be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. We hope that the issues you were having with the webcam on your Lenovo Yoga C740-15 have been successfully resolved by now. If not, first be sure the manual Privacy Shutter is open. Be sure the Privacy Shutter is completely open before trying to use the webcam or the webcam will not operate. There is a small slider, directly above the webcam lens. Move the tab to the right to open the Privacy Shutter. There is a red dot over the webcam lens that will disappear when the Privacy Shutter is fully open. This will indicate that the webcam is really to use. You can close the Privacy Shutter when you are done with the webcam for your security, by sliding the tab to the left to close the Privacy Shutter. The Red Dot will appear over the webcam lens when the Privacy Shutter is closed. If the issue is not the Privacy Shutter, then, be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer. Then update all of the BIOS files and drivers, including those for the webcam, up to that latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. Loved this laptop until on the 3rd day of owning it, it wouldn’t turn on. We tried everything but it had totally shut down. What a waste! We have always had HPs but wanted to try Lenovo... needless to say I returned this immediately and am going to order another HP instead. I would say bad apple but I have seen the same scenario in some of these reviews which leads me to believe there could be a bigger issue.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-15. It is possible that resetting your computer back to original factory settings will correct the issue you are having. Since you can not boot the computer, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the bottom, right side of the device, right near the top right corner of the cooling vent on the bottom of the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. Once you have the computer reset, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C740-15. This system will boot from off to the Windows 10 desktop in less that 10-seconds. Beautiful and intuitive design. This laptop has helped me throughout out all of my post-graduate program thus far. Apple laptops perform subpar to my Yoga Lenovo as exemplified by classmates constantly needing to recharge their computers in class and while studying in cafes; the Battery Saver mode is awesome! I go back and forth between using the computer's tablet mode for note taking and laptop mode for everything else. The touch screen display transitions remarkably well, superior to any tablet device I've used previously including Apple and Galaxy products.

This laptop has over 500G of storage space. Too bad 475G is on the local D drive. The C drive has 53G which is mostly taken up by the system. Once you add office a couple apps you are in low storage purgatory. I has a consultation with a Geek Squad agent and that led nowhere. Thank goodness I was able to return it before the 15 day expiration and got another one.

The Lenovo Yoga C740-15 ships with a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 already installed on the computer as part of the Windows 10 Operating System. If you have installed an additional copy of the software you are causing a conflict with two copies of the same software running at the same time. Additionally, be sure any other software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. As stated, there is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. I purchased this Laptop on 7/24/2020 (in Store) with an estimate delivery day = 8/4/2020. Until 7 follow ups via email and 3 visits to the store the computer arrived on 8/21/2020 a total waste of time in these critical times of COVID. The Sales Person never indicated at the point of sale that the Laptop will take too long to arrive, thus creating incorrect expectation to the customer. This Laptop is critical for College first day where classes started without the Laptop.
