I bought this laptop after purchasing, exchanging, and then returning the new OLED Spectre 13. My reasons were: -Crackling speakers above 65% volume on almost any music and video (both units I owned exhibited this characteristic, and as a musician this was unacceptable to me) -Clacky trackpad (also on both units) -Keyboard was offset to the left and made typing difficult -Dots on OLED screen- especially visible on whites and greys- however, contrast and color accuracy and vibrancy are best in class on the HP- probably amazing for video and picture editing What makes the Lenovo superior: -Build quality is top notch -Incredible sound system for a laptop- almost like listening to a Bluetooth speaker -Much more comfortable and well placed keyboard- my typing accuracy doubled -Trackpad is larger and sturdier -the 14" screen makes streaming and browsing the web much more enjoyable -The battery seems to last about 1-2 hours longer -Geekbench, Cinebench, PcMark 10 and Novabench benchmarks were higher on the Lenovo than the Spectre I had the Spectre for about 4 weeks before exchanging it for the Lenovo, so I had plenty of time to form my opinion. I hope that this review helps those who may be on the fence between the two. Build quality is so important on a laptop, and I feel much more secure with the Lenovo.

Within days of purchasing this laptop the screen began to have problems. The bottom section of the screen would replicate multiple times covering the entire screen. So far, it has returned to normal after touching the screen. This has been documented by several other owners on https://forums.lenovo.com. I am debating whether to return it. Given the price, I would expect higher quality.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga C940-14 4K model. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If there is no incompatible software installed, then be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer. Then update all of the BIOS files and drivers up to that latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. Lenovo

Great laptop, especially with the discount. The feeling of the keyboard and the material is top-notch. The sound quality is very impressive. I switched from surface pro and there are several things can be improved. First is the pen. It is smaller and slender than surface pen. It is not easy to use at first and there is no “eraser” at the top. The second is the fan noise. The fan will run start constantly even stays on desktop with almost no task. It still happens when I update to the newest driver. I try to change the battery plan but there is no option. The noise is not crazy loud but it is obvious with a quiet surrounding. It is very close to a perfect purchase(4.5/5). This is the best price with such configuration. But definitely can be improved.

I'm in IT and engineering. I usually don't purchase computers through Best Buy, but this pandemic is changing a lot of things. I needed a machine for my own use after sending my last laptop (mine) to an employee who was in trouble. One of the reasons I don't order consumer computers is because the OS and BIOS are usually need to be updated (a lot) out of the box. Moreover, the include a lot of crapware. This was not any different. However, once you put the time in to rid it of junk and update the important bits, it's a pleasantly speedy machine with good specifications for most users. It's equivalent to the Dell XPS 9300 in terms of performance so far, after the myriad of updates. And, the 14" 4K screen is a hair larger than my Dell's 13.4" screen, which is nice for tired eyes. My plan is to order another Dell for work, but I will be keeping this machine for home use. My kids will enjoy using it too for their creative work, given it has pen support. Two Thunderbolt ports and a USB-A port seems sensible and about the minimum a home computer should have, given one is used by the charger. One item of note is that the BIOS needed to be updated to solve a rather frustrating initial video glitch. Once complete, the machine works as expected. Wait to catch it on sale for $200 off. At the lower price, it's about the best option on the market for the money.

The Lenovo Yoga C940-14 4K model ships with just two adware programs, a 30-day trial of Microsoft Office 365 (as part of Windows 10 operating system) and a 30-day trial of McAfee virus protection. Lenovo computers ship with one of the cleanest factory software installs within the consumer computer industry. Highly recommend, with a few caveats. I have had about 6 or 7 laptops in my hands the last few months (thanks to return period widows), and often 2 or more at once, which is helpful for comparison. So, the C940 has very few ports, that is my 1st (and really, only) complaint (it's why I marked 'ease of use' down to 4 from 5). There is no SD card reader. Battery life is better than any other laptops I have; battery life is not good when 4K is in use, obviously. With 4K enabled, I get 6-7 hours of display time. That said, you can set display to 1920x1080 in settings, and battery life improves drastically, you'll see 9 - 10 hours of display time. Very little content is in 4K so you really don't see a difference, and you can quickly switch to 4k for instances where you want it on. Battery is 60wH, though some best buy employees will read the specs and tell you it is 45, it's not. (at one point there was a typo in the specs that said the power supply was 45wH - it's not, it's 65wH, but that is the 'power supply', not the battery) Display is gorgeous (4k or FHD), the color gamut is great. I'm very picky about the display, that's the main reason the other laptops were returned. Too often, what should be red appeared burnt-orange, and whites were too warm and creamy; NOT on the YOGA display; it's a little on the cold (bluish hue) side and reds are vivid and perfect. Blacks aren't super inky-black (my HP ENVY x360 15.6" with Ryzen 5 has the super inky blacks, but doesn't cover the rest of the color spectrum as well as the Yoga). Build quality is fantastic. I considered returning it for the non-4k model for better battery, but would lose 4GB of RAM and the optane memory (better to just switch off 4k and still have the option to enable it). The design choice to have a lip near the camera for lifting the lid is super nice. Hinges are snug and not floppy/sloppy. Keyboard is very good, in my opinion. The keys are a little 'squishy' compared to the HP ENVY 15.6" I have - not as 'clicky' as the ENVY, and slightly less travel than the Envy. 2 very different key experiences, and I can't quite say which I prefer, but if you know your own preference, that's where things stand. I'm a student, and always have about 15 tabs open on the taskbar, a few of them are chrome tabs using different accounts, and each has a few windows, and this thing NEVER slows or has any hiccups; always lightning fast. (side-note: The Ryzen processors are better at multi-threading, and you will notice that when you open your screen/login and instantly try to scroll on a chrome page and it doesn't respond for a second because it's busy trying to get the Hangouts widget to render/load; that 'waiting' doesn't happen on a Ryzen CPU, because it's better at doing multiple things simultaneously. Something to consider). I have an ENVY x360 13.3" with the 11th gen evo CPU that will get returned, as I don't notice any real benefit of the 11th gen over the 10th gen CPU, though color reproduction may be marginally better, but that could just be the display on that device. And the 13.3" is considerably smaller than the 14", I didn't expect it to be. Final note, I highly recommend this device and this configuration, IF you can overlook its lack of ports (which can be remedied by buying a hub, but who wants to carry extra stuff around). It would be nice if it were available in the iron gray, rather than ridiculous silver tones, but at best buy, it isn't. The other caveat would be, if you can wait (or play the buy-and-return game long enough) to get a device built around the new Ryzen 5000 series chips that just came out, as even the cheapest CPU in that series smokes all of intel's chips of any price-point by every metric. - Cheers (I hope I covered it all, congrats reading it all)

Intel Optane SSD failed after only 6 months. This computer is owned by a 65 yo Granny. She does not stress it much at all. Mainly email and the occasional ZOOM meeting. The computer performed well but who would expect a HD failure so soon. And this was unlike any HD failure I ever encountered. It would not boot. File System completely gone. SSD no longer recognized by BIOS. In the past when a HD would not boot at least I could access the drive using recovery disks. Not in this case. I could get a windows to start from disk but still no SSD access. Very Disappointing. think twice before you get a Lenovo with Intel Optane. I don't wish this on anyone.

We are sorry to hear that you had issues with your Lenovo Yoga C940-14 4K model number 81Q90041US. You can recover the Windows 10 Operating System by using the OneKey Recovery System on the Yoga C940-14 4K model. There is a very small pin hole on the bottom left side of the device, right near the bottom left corner of the cooling vent on the bottom of the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

I purchased this laptop in January, and right off the bat, it began to give me issues: the fans were SO LOUD that it was discernable at all times in a quiet room (and could even be heard above normal conversational levels), even when I was just running Google Chrome. I assumed this was just because the device was set to operate at such a high level with 16 GB memory and i7. In February, I left the country, so was unable to bring it to Best Buy for a look. In March, when I returned to the US due to COVID, I had to spend a lot more time on Zoom, and the laptop would crash constantly. It would freeze, the screen would flash green and red, and when it froze, it would make a horrible screeching noise. It froze nearly every day. I eventually did a factory reset on the device which cleared up the freezing issue for a few months, but the device's fans were still loud and it would get HOT. Unable to touch it HOT. Last month, the green/red flashing continued, and I took it to Geek Squad. They sent it out for diagnostics/repair under warranty, where I've now been informed that the device had a defective motherboard and defective thermal modules upon purchase. I've had to buy a Microsoft Surface Pro ($800) in the interim to attend my classes remotely, which is working far better than my $1600 Lenovo device ever did. I look forward to getting my device back, but now that I have a Pro, I'm not even sure that I want my Yoga back given the multitude of issues I experienced with it. I've attached a photo of what happens when the screen would flash.

This is a great 2-in-1 laptop!. It is very quick and can handle almost anything I can throw at it on a productivity level. I regularly have 50+ Chrome browser tabs open, a few Edge or Firefox tabs open, Outlook, Word, OneNote, Excel, and other apps open, and I never feel this thing slow down. The fast processor and all the RAM make things easy to do without worrying about "managing" open apps. I use it as a tablet regularly to consume media from streaming services, Kindle, Youtube, etc. This is a nifty benefit that makes this item useful for more than just computing. The Yoga retracts it's keys and makes them inactive so you do not strike them. Switching to "tablet" mode allows you to disable the keys and use the laptop in a "stand mode with the keys face down on a table. The screen is stunning and bright. The speakers turn towards you as you move the screen. This allows for good sound and a fantastic picture while watching movies and videos. This is a great tool for drawing and marking up documents. The touchscreen and pen help you unleash your inner artist. I use it regularly to annotate documents and to suggest changes for others. It is a new way to interact that I really enjoy. Finally, the battery life is quite good. I can get a full day of work out of this with the screen turned up as much as I want If I do start to run out of battery, a 15- 30 minute charge will buy me many additional hours of use. I have had every version of the Yoga, and this is the best one yet. I highly recommend this product.

I love love love this laptop! The build quality is excellent. The picture quality is top notch. It is super fast and meets all of my expectations. I love watching movies and TV on this little gem. The size and weight are perfect and honestly it is a sexy little laptop that I'm proud to pull out of my bag. I don't use it as much in tablet mode, but when I do, I like that the stylus is right there in its compartment ready to go without me rooting through my bag. The quality for the price is surprising. I purchased this to replace my Dell 2 in 1 after hours of researching expert tech reviews. There were some issues with my Dell that soured me on going with a new one. I am so glad I chose the Lenovo Yoga. There is only one small complaint. All the ports are on the left side and only one USB. For more robust use at my home office I have purchased a port adapter to provide an HDMI and additional USB ports. This has solved the issue nicely. My pro-Apple friends keep trying to get me to convert to Mac, but after experiencing Lenovo quality, all I can say is Mac who? Dell? No thanks. I am Lenovo fan all the way now.

This is my first Lenovo after having exclusively Dell Latitude systems for the past 15 years. My last Latitude 7390 2-in-1 constantly blue screened and Dell wanted me to send my computer in to them and be without it for 14 days. This simply wasn't an option so I got this instead. The screen is beautiful, the sound is impressive. Very well made with high quality materials. I also love the finger print reader, the keyboard and track pad. My Dell had the same memory, a lower capacity hard drive and an i5 yet this Lenovo seems to lag quite a bit. I notice it in Chrome and Microsoft applications and it isn't subtle either. Perhaps it needs to be wiped and loaded with a fresh copy of Window but I shouldn't have to do that on a brand new system. I hope it's an easy fix and I get to keep the system!

Great 14 inch laptop! Premium build all around. Screen is vivid and bright. Battery life is almost all work day with normal uses. Sound bar is impressive. The pen can be a bit hard at first to remove, but got better after it was used a few days, it is a bit small. Gets warm on your lap but not too bad. Optane. You need to disable it, download the latest optane drivers from intel and then reenable. If not your fans will be constantly spinning up and down and a annoying process never ends in task manager. Took me a week but found out the old optane driver was the issue. Laptop is quiet and fast now!

I had planned to use this part time plugged into a full size monitor, mouse and keyboard & hard drives, and part time as a laptop. As a laptop it's virtually perfect except for short battery life (about 4.5 - 5.5 hours) and the edges are sometimes uncomfortably sharp. I had to return it however because when used plugged into externals, the mouse hangs up a lot when the usb ports get busy, especially activity with any kind of external storage. So the mouse was super jumpy or completely dead sometimes for 40 seconds at a time. I discovered that laptops with ports on two sides typically have two separate buses and can handle this type of application with no problem, including my 4 year old samsung spin. Strange that an old mid level machine outperforms this one in that one way!

Bought this for a college art student. It is lightweight and easy to carry. The colors on the screen are very vivid which is good for art and the garage for the stylus is very convenient for keeping it charged. Love the way the stylus can be used as a mouse when drawing with it, and that you can set the buttons to work with functions of your choice. It also converts to a tablet. So far it is working great and easy to use.

High quality screen resolution. Very fast start up, lots of RAM. The package I bought was economically very good. The versatility of flipping back and forth between laptop and tablet is nice but I don't use it as often as I thought I would. The screen size is not optimal, I wish I had gone to 15" and spent the $. Give that a thought if you are considering this machine. Great touch screen!

I purchased this as an upgrade to use for teaching during the pandemic. Much of the time it works seamlessly. I do have college age kids in the house and a husband who are all utilizing wireless connections and are having no problems. I, on the other hand, have instances in which I am continually losing connection - not a good thing with a full class of middle school kids and not an issue I had with an older laptop. (I pay the absolute most for internet, so I don’t think that’s my issue.) The Lenovo been fine for personal uses like streaming movies or checking email.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with WiFi connectivity with your Lenovo Yoga C940-14 4K model number 81Q90041US. This configuration ships with the latest Intel 6G, Wide-Range/High-Speed 2x2 802.11AX WiFi. It is backward compatible to older b/g/n/ac frequencies. Be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer, then update all of the BIOS files and Drivers up to that latest version of Windows 10. Lenovo

    Cons mentioned:
    Battery life, Heat

This is easily one of the prettiest laptops I've ever laid eyes on. Smooth and premium metal, solid construction and a very nice keyboard. Lightweight and fairly easy to operate one-handed. The display is good, but not great even though it's 4K. Color accuracy is a bit off even with calibration, although very sharp image overall. The case does get a bit hot when under stress as well, and I'm sure the lack of vents contributes to that. Very fast processing and the SSD in particular reads very fast. The audio from the sound bar hinge is also very impressive as well, definitely a nice change of pace to have good audio in a laptop. Now for the major negative, battery life. You'll be lucky to squeeze 6 hours out of this thing unless you keep the screen fairly dim or use battery saver. I realize a 4K screen is going to use more battery, but battery life this poor at this price point is unacceptable in my opinion. There also isn't a fast charge option unless the machine is completely off. If you can live with the poor battery life, it's a solid machine.

The Lenovo Yoga C940-14 4K model number 81Q90041US, delivers 139.3-percent of the sRGB color gamut for great color accuracy:  https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/lenovo-yoga-c940#:~:text=The%20C940%20covers%20139.3%25%20of,the%20Dell%20XPS%20hits%20113%25. This model ships with a 4CELL_60WH_INTERNAL, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 10 hours, depending on the work the device is performing. For better battery life, First, set your screen brightness at less than 100-percent - try 80-percent to start with. Then, be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10. Then, finally, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. Incompatible software will drain the battery at a faster rate. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

This review is long but very helpful to graphic designers :) I'm a graphic design student. I previously had a 2019 MacBook Pro with Touchbar, it was average. I didn't purchase the upgraded version simply because it's too expensive. Apple has great products good quality, premium feel, excellent screen resolution overall I was satisfied with the MacBook. I have an iPad pro which works great with the pen but something kept telling me to get a touchscreen laptop. I was really searching for a while and first found Surface Book 2 but for the price it was the same specs as the MacBook and I wanted more. After this I found the HP Spectre. Great laptop only issue I had was the color and size. It was too big for me and the pen was so easy to loose so I returned it. When I found this Lenovo Yoga C940 I truly fell in love. To begin the display is GORGEOUS. 4K display for graphic design is PERFECT. My Photoshop files are larger than 5GBs and the laptop does not lag AT ALL. The touchscreen saves me so much time when editing designs on Photoshop. The pen built in feature is PERFECT. I don't have to worry about loosing it plus it charges at the same time. I was actually going to return it 7 days ago because I wanted to try the new iPad pro but let me tell you the Photoshop file that I transferred was so big even a simple task like erasing a section of my 5GB Photoshop file was too much. The iPad LAGGED! The sound is PHENOMENAL!! The 2 in one feature makes it so easy to use the pen. Battery life is strong. I use Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, 5 tabs of Google all at the same time. I use it heavily and for a long period of time. I also play Xbox sometimes, it lags a little but it's not a priority for gaming. Overall the laptop is AMAZING!! BEAUTIFUL design, slim, practical, and most importantly AT A GREAT PRICE. 16GBS of ram, 512 GBs of storage. Something similar to this would be over $3,000 with Apple, but most importantly not touch and that is a must have!
