Also, while in a bag, you're not sure if the power button is being pressed. I often brought this out of a bag to find the battery dead, after being sure I put it into the bag with a full charge and shut down.

We apologize for the frustration and inconvenience that this has caused you, and we'd like to work with you to resolve this issue.
To start with performance, we recommend ensuring you have the latest software by checking for updates, as this could correct the issue. To do so, first, open the Settings app > Select the Windows update tab > Select the Check for updates button, apply all available updates. Next, open the Lenovo Vantage app > on the homepage, select the Check for updates button, following on-screen prompts to apply all available updates here as well. Another aspect to consider is if the system is under a stressful workload and shuts down, this could be due to overheating. While an updated system can improve performance and efficiency, please ensure clearence of air intake and exhaust areas under and at the rear of the laptop for proper air exchange to take place.
Also, there is a possibility that the power button is being pressed when the laptop is closed, powering on the system, but if the laptop is shut down, it should not power on without opening the lid. To try to address this, we also recommend

To start, with heat produced, this Yoga Pro 9i features an active cooling system, along with other components and software, designed to enable the user to power through work without throttling due to heat produced. We recommend that the bottom of the device, where the air intake vents are, is clear of obstructions to increase air flow. Additionally, this Yoga Pro features Smart Control, enabling the user to use the key command combination of Fn + Q to toggle between thermal/performance mode. For instances where you may use the device in your lap or a situation where the intake vents may be obstructed, we recommend switching to cool or quiet mode to help with the heat felt on the bottom of the machine. Also, please check for and apply any available updates through Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update Settings to help ensure you are using the latest software and drivers to ensure your system is running as efficiently as possible.
In regard to battery life, as you may know there are lots of variables that contribute to battery and with systems designed for performance like this Yoga Pro 9i, that can increase even more due to their high-powered processors and graphics cards, and high refresh rate displays. If you want to squeeze out more battery life and are completing non-intensive graphics tasks, along with taking advantage of Smart Power, you can utilize the MUX switch built into this model to turn off the dedicated GPU to greatly decrease power draw. This can be done in the NVIDIA Control Panel app, to choose your preferred GPU working method. You can also use the Fn + R key combo to toggle to a lower refresh rate for even more power conservation.

This model does not have the ability to be used as a tablet but has the better GPU and CPU. Not a dealbreaker but really like the tablet feature so I can tent it as a screen or use as a tablet. It had been my misundersranding that the Yoga line was all 2 in 1 laptops.
