I played ZZZ in the winter at 40F and the machine gets thermal throttle after 5 minutes of gaming. Additionally, the screen is very easily damaged. Otherwise, the tablet is okay.

I am nothing if not an Apple fanboy... but I don't want this to be another review comparing non-Apple products to Apple products. But also... I can't help it, at least to provide some context. Apple seems to 'run the world' when it comes to how we use particular products. This is largely because of the ubiquitous nature of Apple's market share, specifically in things like earbuds, watches, tablets and phones. I remember my first iPad. I remember the confusion around (and Apple's subsequent response to) 'how we should view "tablets" as a unique market segment.' And by and large, I think the world has conformed to this expectation, wherein a phone is different from a tablet, and a tablet is different from a computer. I would argue this has been largely disappointing to many who view tablets as an opportunity to move the bar forward in the computing space, with direct opponents to the idea like Microsoft with its Surface lineup. So much of my experience has been with [many, many] iPads over the last decade and a half. I've owned a decent number of Android tablets as well, from many manufacturers, and they (generally speaking) tend to disappoint in several ways. And in that sense, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet Plus is... refreshing. We'll start with design, which is where the title of this review comes from. It looks high class, fancy, pretty even. I see some design similarities with the Pixel 7 and 8, with a large 'hump' along the back that houses the cameras, but runs the entire width of the device (and in the Yoga's case, this hump runs along the width of the device in 'landscape,' as opposed to the Pixel's 'portrait'). In some ways this is weird, but with the included magnetic kickstand, it can lay flat on a table. In the box you get the tablet, magnetic kickstand, keyboard, stylus, power brick and power cable. And I don't want to bury the lead here: this is all for $699, and it doesn't disappoint. The stylus is phenomenal (albeit a bit of the light side), the keyboard perfectly functional, and the trackpad near perfect. The included power brick pushes 45W, meaning you don't need to purchase an additional fast-charge brick. This is truly an all-in-one package, something I don't know that I've seen at this price point. My issue with most Android tablets has been performance. Such is NOT the case this time around, as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 16GB of RAM make easy work of any task you might hope to accomplish on this device. Add to that a brilliant 12.7", 144Hz capable 3K screen, and the aforementioned input mechanisms, and the Yoga Tablet Plus is a wonderfully capable and enjoyable to use device. I found it great for productivity, and absolutely wonderful for media consumption, thanks to its great screen and a Harmon Kardon 6-speaker system that rivals any (and I do many ANY) tablet on the market. Honestly, given the price point and the included accessories I was really concerned about the user experience suffering, and I was pleasantly surprised to find no major gripes. I do, however, have a few minor irritations that I believe can be worked around or addressed. The screen is gorgeous, but it is a 3K screen that has a strange aspect ratio. I would call this "wider" than normal in landscape mode, and for multitasking and media consumption that is fine...but the way that some apps are stretched to this screen can cut off content or controls; I noticed this mostly with game apps that are meant to be run in portrait mode, where I didn't have access to menu controls or entire areas of the play area. Additionally, the power button's built-in fingerprint reader doesn't seem to consistently read my fingerprints after several attempts at re-registering them. This was more of a slight inconvenience as I can enable the facial recognition for unlocking the device. I want to quickly mention the included stylus, which had a combination of both 'good' and 'bad' traits to it. For the built-in Lenovo note taking app, I friggin' LOVED the pen's haptic feedback that honestly made writing on glass feel and sound almost exactly like writing on paper. It was a wonderful surprise to say the least, as I think most times a stylus is a pretty basic and boring accessory. I've not said much about the Yoga Tablet's multitasking capabilities, which far go beyond what I'm used to as a long time iPad user: the sheer number of *ways* that you can use this device--whether it be for traditional "laptop" productivity work, "tablet" entertainment, content creation with the included stylus, and the ability to bounce between these different capabilities with ease was kind of mind boggling. Kudos to Android and the folks at Lenovo to package this product in a way that make it a true multi-faceted device that can adapt based upon the user's need (or needs). While I'm admittedly not used to having so many choices around how I use a tablet, it did leave me feeling a little confused on how I was *supposed to* use it. Yes, it seems that it can cover a very wide gamut of use cases, but there's a borderline feature bloat to this product in that it can be used in so many ways, I as a user don't really know what the most efficient ways to use it really are. I know this seems like a weird thing to complain about, and it probably is: but with only a few days to gather thoughts on a review, it makes testing the full set of features and getting really comfortable with the different use cases difficult. That said, I think with time I will grow to love this full featured and highly capable tablet. I already mentioned the price, which brings home the 'wow' factor of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet Plus. $699 is a bargain for such a broadly useful product, and while the extensive feature set seems a bit overwhelming at first, it seems to perform well, and given the included accessories, this would be a hard product to pass up.

I’ve been using Android devices my whole life, but after several months I still can’t get used to the interface on the Lenovo Yoga tablet. The interface feels very inconvenient and not user-friendly, and sometimes it even has performance glitches. Honestly, I regret not buying a Samsung instead. If I get a chance to return or exchange this tablet, I will definitely switch to Samsung.

Bad form-factor design and software UX

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet Plus has good core hardware. But the poor form-factor design and the software user experience drop this to a 2.5/5 star rating for me and prevent me from recommending this device. Before taking a dump on this tablet and possibly sounding biased, I’ll mention that I also own a Lenovo 2-in-1 Yoga laptop which has been my favorite non-gaming laptop among the many I’ve owned and used across many different brands. They aced that design. [ Core Hardware ] The core tablet design feels solid and looks polished. The screen has good palm rejection when using the stylus and is relatively vibrant, but the limited peak brightness suffers in outdoor use. The max 144 Hz refresh rate allows smooth animation that is easy on the eyes while also offering adaptive frame rates. The speakers sound great for a tablet with a full-sounding mid-range and bass that isn’t terrible, though the higher (75%+) volume levels send the quality plummeting. The tablet’s cameras are decent, though mostly there for convenience and not anywhere close to matching a half-decent smartphone. The stylus was easy to use and very accurate, though quick taps seemed to be largely rejected, requiring a minimum (tiny) swipe distance to register. The processor performance was very snappy for everything I tested. The battery is great, providing many hours of streaming video with room to spare on a single charge. It barely sips battery life when on but not in use, and charges quickly when using the provided AC adapter. The keyboard design, borrowed from Lenovo’s other products, has generously spaced keys and great tactile feedback; they make the best mobile keyboards I’ve used. The keyboard does however flex when typing. The trackpad is smooth and responsive. [ Form Factor Design ] The form-factor design is horrible from a utilitarian standpoint. The kick-stand offers very little flexibility in screen positioning, and when combined with the floppy docking surface of the keyboard, this tablet is an absolute no-go for on-lap use when used with the keyboard; a stable flat surface is required. The location of the docking/charging spot for the stylus along the top of the tablet makes the stylus a nuisance when opening the tablet from a closed position (with keyboard) and is prone to being knocked off and lost when carrying the tablet. When used with the keyboard, the positioning of the power button with built-in fingerprint reader at the top-left corner of the display is a bit inconvenient to access and shoe-horns me into using my left hand for unlocking. There are so many ways they could have designed this much better, that this feels like a major failure. [ Software User Experience ] The software is a mess, but I only have enough space to highlight a few issues. In the setup process of adding my Google account, the instructions for accessing the security code from another device (Pixel phone) were completely inaccurate, though this is Google’s fault. The first-start experience introducing me to the stylus inexplicably disappeared in the middle of my reading through the text, with no readily apparent way to bring it back. The concept of ‘PC mode’ is nice, allowing apps to appear in windows, with multiple visible at once, while changing some other interface behavior. However, the default window size is almost always useless, requiring manual resizing. There is no synchronization of the desktop and tray icons between PC and tablet modes, which to me is ridiculous design. The prominently featured Notepad app designed with the stylus in mind was side-loaded, is not available in the Google Play store, and apparently has no sharing/syncing ability, making it practically useless. The Lenovo AI Now app, which is part of the advertising for this tablet, is a narrowly focused LLM-driven agent that trains on user-provided documents. This app was a complete trainwreck. From the start, I had to reset my password because I didn’t have my Lenovo account saved in my BitWarden vault. This process is completely broken in tablet mode. Switching apps to copy a password from BitWarden causes the password reset screen to disappear, resetting the process in an endless loop. Switching to PC mode fixed this because of the windowed apps, but for whatever reason, the app suffered from DPI scaling issues making the text extremely tiny and hard to read. Once that was resolved, attempting to add a PDF file from Google Drive, which the UI was *specifically* designed to allow, was met with the error message “Drive files import is not supported” which showed for about a second before disappearing. That is pretty disgusting. After manually downloading the file to local storage and attempting to add it to the knowledge base, it again errored out with a message that lasted far too short to read in one go, but essentially complained that the file was too big, while in no way indicating by how much, or what the specific limit is. It was at this point that I gave up entirely on this app.

I didn't think I would like an Android tablet as much as I thought I would with this tablet. This is the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus which is pretty awesome. I would like to give it 4.5 Stars but you can't give out .5 stars so 5 will work. I saw the press release for this item and it seems this is a BestBuy exclusive SKU Inside the Box: 45 Watt USB C power Adapter USB C To USB C cable Keyboard that attaches to the tablet with a touch pad for using like a mouse Back part which keeps the tablet up like a laptop Lenovo Tab Pen Pro Specs: 3k 12.7 Iinch IPS LCD Display 16GB LPDDR5X RAM 256GB storage Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SOC I have used Android tablets in the past and as much as I prefer Android I have found iPad's to just give a better experience because Google in the past didn't do much and just felt like a bigger phone. I think it was with Android 12 Google made 12L which helped with devices like foldable phones and even tablets. With the Top end SOC from 2024 not current one it is still powerful with 16GB of RAM. The screen is the only reason why I want to knock half a star down. It is a great screen but it still is IPS which has its own quirkcs like LCD panels do. I very much prefer OLED but this is a great LCD panel. This Tablet also comes with AI features like all other devices want to promote in 2024/2025. This Lenovo AI Now and other Google AI features like Circle to search. Part of it is on device which is great as well. Lenovo AI Now can help with documents. The pen is nice add on which works similar to how it works like the S pen down on my S24 Ultra or like Note phones which is cool. Also the keyboard is quite good for the type of keyboard it is which is a keyboard cover. It won't be at an actual dedicated keyboard for PC's or some laptop keyboard but it is good.

    Lightweight, powerful laptop replacement

My typical use of a tablet has been to watch movies while on flights, as I travel a lot for work. I picked up this one because my old one was feeling sluggish, and I can't get over how snappy it is. But what I really didn't expect is how it can act as a laptop replacement, although that will take some getting used to. Weight/Physical Considerations This is definitely heavier than other tablets I've had, but it also has the largest screen at 12.7". The form factor is the right size for a pull down tray in an airplane seat, even when in "laptop mode" as I call it. As this comes with a detachable, nearly full size keyboard, touchpad, and stylus - it has everything needed to act as a laptop replacement. The keyboard is responsive and tactile, and the touchpad is much like every touchpad you've ever worked with. The stylus is an interesting option and I found myself using it when I had the keyboard detached. The handwriting recognition is impressive; however, when using it on websites, you have to fit your text into the window alloted - most sites have a font size that is definitely smaller than my handwriting which can be tricky. Performance It's been quite some time since I've used a device where webpages load instantly as I click on them, but that's what happens (typically) with the Yoga Tab Plus. Naturally, websites become more complicated with each passing day, but on this tablet I feel like any lag is because the other side isn't sending the information fast enough, or perhaps my connection has become unstable. The screen refreshes when watching movies or reading text is perfect - I see no flickering or other unexpected artifacts. Battery Life - I was able to watch 5 hours worth of Netflix (on a flight in airplane mode) and the battery only went down 30% from full. When I use it outside of airplane mode, it definitely drains faster, but I definitely get a solid two to three days worth of intermittent use (reading emails, typing emails, watching 30-60 mins of videos). Sound - for me personally, I'm almost always going to use headphones with this tablet. However, I've never heard such good sound out of a device so thin. I could almost use it as the main speaker in our kitchen if I wanted to. It gets loud but maintains definition easily to still hear the bass with minimal distortion. Included Software/AI One of the flagship features of this model is the Lenovo AI Assistant. It requires that you have documents downloaded to the tablet for it to use for training, and then you can ask it questions. I rarely use local storage on tablets for anything beyond airplane viewing, so I struggle to see how useful this could be. Ideally, it would connect (with my explicit permission) to my Google Drive or specific folders there to learn and answer questions. That said, I could see perhaps someone who works for a law firm have their documents securely stored but also easily searched on this device. My final thoughts on the software - Lenovo will support the Android OS for approximately 4 years from launch, which is good; however, I was surprised to see that it came loaded with Android 14 when 15 is the latest. I know this update will come eventually as that's how these things work, but it was a surprise to me. Also, the "laptop mode" takes a lot of getting used to. Android devices have been able to drive an external/large display for quite some time now, and yet I've never been able to get the usability to my liking. There's "full window" mode which makes whatever app is launched take up the entire screen - but that's often not what I want depending on the app. The other options include split screen - which can make each app just a bit too narrow to use meaningfully. I'm also more inclined to use a keyboard to navigate when I have one, so it takes a lot of adjustment to get used to how Android handles multiple windows, navigation between them, and scrolling (the arrow keys want to jump from link to link instead of line to line of a page). Final thoughts: overall I'm blown away by this and I don't think I'll have to carry a laptop around with me anymore (as I do most of my work via cloud-based applications). That said, I hope Lenovo comes out with a cover I can buy that flips around the tablet instead of the keyboard - that way I can stand the tablet up and have a secure way to carry it for when I don't want a keyboard.

    Productivity and entertainment work horse

The Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus is an android tablet that looks to compete with the AI chip powered laptops that have been released recently. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, is optimized to perform AI tasks including image generation. This is a true tablet powered by android, it is not a windows based tablet so the operation is different but in a good way. For one I can download Netflix shows for later viewing which I could not do on a windows based laptop. That is where the 12.7-inch 3K IPS display with a resolution of 2944 x 1840 comes in. The screen is bright and has a high refresh rate that will make any mobile games crisp. The IPS screen offers the bets viewing angles. All of this to say you get a bright, capable, and functional screen to cover work productivity and entertainment in a portable package. As far as productivity goes, the Yoga Tab Plus COMES WITH a magnetic kickstand which allows you to modify the tilt angle or completely remove it if you want, a keyboard with track pad, and a pen for taking notes or drawing. These three items are very important because the kickstand is used whether or not I am using the tablet for productivity or entertainment. Now the keyboard can be removed completely or folded under the tablet while remaining magnetically attached. Same with the pen, it remains magnetically attached and is charged up while it is attached to the tablet. All of this is great because you can remove and attach any or all items with ease depending on how you will be using the tablet. There is no need to buy peripherals for the Yoga Tab Plus that would add an extra $300 minimum. I didn’t expect much from the speakers of the Yoga Tab Plus, however they get loud and don’t distort as much as I thought they would. I was very surprised by the audio quality, especially during Whatsapp video calls. My biggest concern will be storage space. 256 GB of space is not going to be enough for my usage. My phone has more space, but the USB C port will allow for offloading large files to an external drive. However I would have liked to have seen a microsd card slot on this to mitigate storage issues. In any case, the USB C slot allows for reverse charging! This is great because I am able to charge my iPhone 15 Pro via the USB C port of the Yoga Tab Plus. The screen, keyboard, track pad, kickstand, and pen have pen responsive and easy to use. I see great utility as an iOS user with this tablet even though sticking to an iOS device like an iPad may be easier, The quality of materials and accessories included with the Yoga Tab Plus make it a no brainer for me, especially with the amount of air travel I have. I want something I can download my own entertainment to when I have some down time, but I also want something I can use word, PowerPoint, and excel with. The Yoga Tab Plus fills all of my travel needs with the accessories included and has replaced my work laptop going forward.

I will be comparing this tablet to both a Samsung S7+ and a 2 year old Apple that my wife uses. First off, I am pretty impressed with this tablet. Set up was a breeze and only took about 15 minutes with updates, etc. Holding the tablet, I would have to say that Lenovo got this size and feel down perfect. Feels premium, looks premium and sounds premium. The screen is bright, colorful and responsive. I have had zero lag when multitasking and/or gaming. Everything transitions smoothly. Now, where I believe this shines is with the included keyboard and writing pen. Both work flawlessly and I have found that I keep the tablet on the keyboard 80% of the time. Battery life is shortened up a bit since the keyboard uses the tablet for power. The trade off is worth it! Both the keyboard and tablet stand attach magnetically and I find it works great! No issues. My knit picking complaint is that I wish the tablet and the all the accessories were of a different color. Vanilla in color is beginning to attract dirt and discoloration. But one minor complaint over the "almost replaces my laptop" is more than worth it! Excellent product!!
