Perfect smart home apartment accessory!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an apartment that I can’t change the lock on. This device is the perfect solution to keep from changing the lock on my door while bringing my smart home technology up another step. It’s simple to install, easy to pair, and you can’t tell from looking at the lock this was installed. It keeps management happy and keeps me happy. Locking and unlocking my door is easy now and I don’t have to fumble around for a key, especially at night. The auto unlock worked pretty well and was super convenient. Additionally I now have a backup plan for when I somehow forget my key in the future. If you need a hidden, apartment friendly, door lock solution, look no farther! This is a prefect solution.

Just Works and Easy Install
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking for a smart lock that I can use with my current key cylinder since I can't change the actual keying due to being in an apartment. This lock fits the bill perfectly. As far as anyone is concerned the lock is exactly the same as it was before I installed it, now I just have the added benefit of being able to control the lock with my phone and Home Kit as well. Installation was very quick and easy, just remove the old lock bolt insert the new one in it's place and screw everything back together. I did not have any fitment issues and everything was installed in under 10 minutes. Setup with my phone was even easier, just install the level app and register the lock, then add it to Home Kit with the QR code and everything was ready to go. Operation is fairly quick if I select lock from my home app it takes maybe 15 seconds total for the system to register the request and then lock the door, and as an added bonus you can add automations with Home Kit so that it will lock if your the last person to leave or unlock when you arrive home. Home Kit does prompt you if you want to actually run the automation first so no accidental unlocks or locks as well which is a nice touch. If I had any complaint (and I'm really stretching here to find one) it might be that when you lock and unlock the door with the key like normal the bolt feels a little more mushy than the standard deadbolt I had but that is probably more to do with lock tolerances in the tailpiece since the lock has to accept different types for compatibility, the lock works fine though so it's not really a problem at all just a "feel" kind of thing.

Works well. Virtually invisible.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this lock purely because you cannot see that it is there. It uses your existing housing for your deadbolt and hides inside of it. The only way you would know it's in there is because there's a logo on the bolt. That's also where the battery is located, which should last about a year. You can still use your existing key which makes this really brilliant. I had to do some minor modifications (just shaving down a bit of the inside of the bolt area) for it to fit but it fits nice and snug now. The app works seamlessly to unlock and lock the deadbolt. It also works with apple homekit if that's your thing. I haven't had any issues with it. Works when it's supposed to. You can set up additional users and are able to share passes with people so they can access your house. There's plenty of other options but all in all it's a pretty simple process. If you're looking for a camoflauge version of a smart lock, this is for you.

Strong Design With MANY Failures
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Conceptually, this is a desirable and well-designed device. It is a compact device that is inserted in the hole in your door between the front and back of a deadbolt lock - the deadbolt is replaced and is designed to act with your existing keying mechanism and to also act with that new bluetooth device it is paired with. Mounting hardware is included and is designed to fit immediately in newer doorways. My house is older and the existing indentations for deadbolt and strike plate guards are smaller and would require modifications. Summary: older locks might not be ready for a simple upgrade. Also: all of the installation information showed the lock being installed on the left side of a door (from the inside) - and it was not at all obvious that the lock installation could be rotated 180° about the vertical axis without problem (it can be, but that was another call to technical support). The larger issue I had, though, was in the design and testing that went on before release of this lock. There was no way I was willing to dismantle everything in my doorway to install a new lock without measurements and without knowing if the new lock would actually work. And, to start out with, it just didn't work. Assembly is no problem (surely in the door, but, simply enough for me, off the door as well). The application was easy enough to install and I was able to pair with my lock immediately (bluetooth). But nothing worked right with the locking and unlocking. But I was doing this in front of me on a table with my smart phone and the lock in front of me and nearly touching. Customer support started out unable to help me because, after my description of all my observations, they told me they had to transfer me to someone specific to Best Buy to answer my questions. Possibly the dumbest thing I have ever heard from any customer support. And that initial response I got from customer support had to be via email which was a canned answer that didn't address any of the specific issues I discussed during my initial call. So I called back. And I went through a TON of tests with the lock which failed each time. Every time I clarified the specific nature of the problem, I got put on hold while the helpdesk escalated the problem and nobody had ever reported my problem before. Based on a random comment from the (very patient) person helping me, and after over an hour on the phone during multiple calls, I realized that I was testing the lock resting on the table in front of me (it was not oriented up/down). Standing the lock upright (but also re-calibrating it (?) this way) seems to have resolved all my problems so far. So I guess that people who have locks on doors to attics and basements can't use a lock like this? How could something like this ever be left unclear in the installation and operating instructions and requirements? So....I did the dumbest possible test for a lock like this (I tested it uninstalled to make sure it worked seamlessly before installing it!) and it failed immediately and the company (and literature) didn't react like this had ever come up before. This is a solidly designed device and I think it would be very desirable for a modern home. But if my first simple test out of the box fails repeatedly and nobody in technical support can be assertive with a response, then there is no way I would ever recommend this product or company to anybody. Zero stars. This company needs to sort out horrifically bad failures before going to market.

Posted .We are sorry to hear about your recent experience with your new Level Bolt. The lock is intended to be used and tested in an upright position, as it would naturally sit in a door. For convenience, there is a “TOP” and arrow indicator on the bolt face to aid in the installation and orientation. Going forward, our support team will clarify if the lock is installed properly prior to troubleshooting.
Level locks are designed to fit American National Standards door measurements, regardless of age. To view exact ANSI door measurements, and to verify door compatibility, we provide several support articles on level.co/support for customers to reference.

Great bluetooth smart lock!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lock is fantastic! When I got this lock I did not know that it was the guts only. What I mean is you take apart your current lock and then remove the internal parts and replace them with the smart lock. It was very easy to install and setup. I really enjoy that I can use the Homekit feature and I then realized I could use my apple watch to open the door. I really like that you cannot tell that you have a smart lock. I plan on buying another one for my other door for my house.

Seems like a good idea
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a nice concept. My current lock is old and doesn’t match up size wise, so it would take some modifications to my door to make it work. I’m sure it would work well with a newer style door and lock mechanism.

Great Lock When It Works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace my August Wifi Smart lock that I didn’t like because of it’s size and it love of batteries (had to replace them every two months). I love that this Level Bolt is invisible. I don’t love that since the latest firmware update the lock doesn’t unlock when i arrive home. I also came home one day to my sister standing on the front porch trying to unlock the door with no success. It works with Apple’s Home app which is pretty iffy too. Although I’ve had better success with the home app than with the level app a lot of times.

Poor response from Homekit and Alexa
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The hardware is nice quality and i had no problem installing the lock. The smart feature is terrible outside of the bluetooth connected Level app. Homekit shows the status after a minute or so and notifies when unlocked (again, after a minute or so). But forget about operating the lock with Siri. All I get are errors. I switched to Alexa with similar results (you can select one or the other).

Great product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What I like about this lock is that can be used both way, with covering plate or with your old existing key mechanism. Very easy to setup but has Bluetooth only, no wifi. I would only recommend that you install the battery before you insert the lock, it makes everything lots easier. Took me about 7-8 minutes to install. Pros: Could be used with cover plate or with existing key mechanisms Bluetooth Cons: No wifi

Level Smart Lock is working well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This worked well. I have to replace my bolt lock mechanism with Defiant brand since the existing item has complicated mechanism to avoid tampering. Also, for Level to work remotely, it requires a Doorbell Pro. It currently worked with Level app via bluetooth signal. So, you have to be within range to lock and unlock.

Easy set up and convenient
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been cool so far. My apartment doesn’t have an outside light so having to use my phone light and find the key was annoying. I added this smart lock and using the app it opens up without having to find my key. It’s nice that it’s hidden inside the door so it doesn’t call attention. I turned off the sound because my dog kept barking at it.

Best smart lock in the market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lock is incredibly smart and sleek. I love the that I was able to make my deadbolt smart without the device protruding, out unlike other competitors. Pros: -- Incredibly clean & simple, and installation doesn't leave damage to the door. -- The auto lock feature, where you don't need to worry about the door being locked. -- The battery placement in the bolt is ingenious, you don't need to take out the whole lock but just unscrew the end of the bolt and insert the battery. -- If you have a Apple eco system this lock would be really handy, as it has Homekit integration which you can use via Siri on any apple device. Cons: -- The installation can be a little pain, if you are not hands on .

Great Product! Quality and simplicity!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently started adding smart-home devices to my home. I just added the Level Bolt yesterday. I installed it in 4 minutes and programmed it on the Level App and Apple HomeKit App in another 4 minutes. So simple and easy!! Great quality and design. Doesn’t change the nice look of our existing doors hardware! The battery design is genius. No more hassles with lending my key to our house sitter and dog watcher. All controlled from my iPhone. Great product would highly recommend it!!

Level Lock vs August
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HomeKit bolt is simple to set up, easy to use, and more reliable than the August smart lock. The bonus is its ability to hide within your door so others have no idea you have smart lock for your home. It works with most hardware and quiet in comparison to the August lock which is bulky.
