The Ultimate Smart Lock?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Level Lock+ is the next thing in smart locks for your home. Gone are the days of fumbling with keys or leaving a key under the mat as a backup. You can simply lock or unlock the door with your iPhone or Apple Watch. Installation is no more difficult than replacing a dead bolt. If you've done that, you'll have no issues installing the Level Lock+. Simply remove your old deadbolt and replace. For me, this was replacing an older, not-smart, keypad lock. Once installed, download the Level Home app from the app store and it will connect to your Lock+. If you're a Apple HomeKit user, you'll have to enable HomeKit. From there you can create scenes to have smart lights turn on/off, set your smart thermostat, etc. What a time to be alive! Once you have everything configured, you can control the Lock+ from your phone or using Siri voice commands. Lock+ is also compatible with Alexa if you prefer to go that route. I think my favorite feature is being able to check if the door is unlocked. How many times have you left and wondered - did I lock the front door? The other cool feature is being able to set an auto-lock so you can have the door lock within seconds after you close it.

Multiple ways to access lock, durable.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Level Lock is a great lock to keep your home secure from breakins. This particular design is in satin nickel. It has some weight to it, durable, and has a beautiful finish. Unlike a regular lock, this lock is a smart lock and has a battery with it. You can unlock your home using the level app, apple home keys by tapping, key fob, or the regular key. As someone who tends to lose keys often. Having myltiple ways to unlock my door is a lifesaver! You can easily control your lock from the level app. I can open my home up for anyone like emergency services or family if i am away from my home. Installation is easy and does not take long at all. I followed the dorections and was able to easily uninstall my old lock and install this one within about 20 minutes. You can use this locl with alexa or google home as well with voice automation. Overall i love this lock because its durable, looks great on my door. And provides and extra level of protection with its durability... all while allowing me multiple ways to access my home.

Nice lock. Secure. Works as advertised.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first "smart" lock, so I was a little wary to try it. In brief, it is a nice, secure lock that works as advertised. To begin, the company is very clear that the door in which the lock will be installed must have a clear path for the bolt. If the door needs to be adjusted for your existing deadbolt to work, this lock will have problems (unless you can fix the physical issue with the door by adjusting the door or boring a larger hole). The electronic motor is very smooth, but does not really have much "oomph," so a lack of adequate clearance for the bolt will create issues. I actually had to bore out my door just a little bit as it wound up being too shallow for this lock and, as a result, the lock would not register as being fully locked (nor would it calibrate itself). Once that was done, however, I did not have any other problems. The lock can accommodate both a short and a long bolt throw by changing the end cap of the bolt (which screws on and off). The lithium ion battery is stored within the bolt itself was well. I do not know how long the battery will last before it needs to be replaced as I have only had the lock for a short period of time. I am hoping the app will let me know when it starts getting low? Speaking of which, the app is pretty simple to use and the setup of the lock through the app was very simple. As I am an iPhone and Apple Watch user, it was also nice to see several ways in which the lock can be toggled between locked and unlocked. There is an option to use the Level app itself and the Wallet feature can be used on either the iPhone or the Apple Watch, but my favorite way to toggle the deadbolt is to use the Home app on my Apple Watch. Unlike using the Wallet, which requires me to be within a short distance of the lock, I can actually use the Home application to remotely lock and unlock the deadbolt from anywhere that I have wireless or cellular access. With this being the case, I can also check the status of the lock remotely as well. No more trying to remember if I locked the door after leaving the house. Now I can just check on my watch or phone! Additionally, when the deadbolt is locked or unlocked, I receive a notification on my phone and watch. Pretty nice. The deadbolt comes with two physical keys as well as two thin fobs that can be used to toggle the lock. Additionally, I found it very easy to add other users as either admins or guests through the Level app and, if using Apple Home, anyone who is a member of your "home" will also have access to the lock through the Home app. At this point, the only thing that I did not necessarily care for is, while the picture makes the lock appear as though it is the same color/finish throughout, that is not the case. The faceplate on the exterior (where a physical key can be used) is kind of an off-white color and it appears to be plastic. It appears sturdy enough and I do not think it negatively impacts the integrity of the lock (or at least I would hope it doesn't), but that color is in stark contrast to the rest of the lock, which is beautifully finished. If half stars were allowed for this review, I would probably go 4.5 stars given that aesthetic and the strict tolerances (or lack thereof, depending on your perspective) that are required in your door when installing the lock (as I mentioned previously). Overall, though, if I had to round up or down, those two items are relatively minor, in my opinion (especially considering that Level was very clear about the door requirements), so I rounded up to five stars. Those two things aside, it is pretty hard to find things not to like with this deadbolt. I may have to start researching other locks made by Level to see if it would make sense to replace some of my other exterior locking door handles/latches.

Great smart addition to your home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This lock does exactly what it says it will do! I haven’t set up the key cards or passcodes for anyone but myself & my wife but I have set up the remote lock and unlock, added the gateway to make it wireless and communicate with Apple HomeKit, and obviously I’ve used the key. I had been looking for a deadbolt lock with Apple Home connectivity for some time and decided on this one due to how it looks and some reviews I had read here and elsewhere. The finish on the lock matches my existing hardware perfectly! I was not expecting the weight of this lock. It is definitely heavy & quality. Much heavier than the deadbolt it replaced. The lock is built very well and made of solid materials. It consists of four main parts with different strike plate options. The installation kit is neatly packaged to include all the screws, parts, and a couple of options for the length of the bolt and strike plate. It connects via Bluetooth and the setup with the app was quick and easy. The lock set includes two key fobs and two actual keys. The fob work great, was easy to set up, and can be assigned. The fobs can be turned on and off in the app. I've been using this smart lock for two weeks. So far, it is working as intended. Instillation was easy enough to install with the preexisting holes. If you are buying/hanging a brand new door with no holes the lock comes with mounting plates for ideal placement and spacing which I thought was really nice. With the preexisting holes, it took me 20 minutes from start to finish to install. Once the physical lock was installed, I downloaded the app. Programming it was really as simple as downloading the app & then placing your phone next to the lock itself. It runs on Bluetooth so there is never a worry about wifi being out. I followed the relatively straightforward instructions to link it up with Apple Home on my phone. It worked very smoothly and the app is easy to use. It is important to note that the battery is easy and fast to replace without having to take the lock all apart. The lock can be set up to be part of Apple Home Kit which allows your iPhone to connect to the lock and lock/unlock with apple devices. It also works with newer Apple Watches. In addition to Apple Home, the lock also works with Siri commands, Google Home, Ring, and Alexa. It can be set up to work with Apple or Android phone devices. As I'm an Apple guy, I did not try to hook it up with Google Home or Alexa, but I assume it would be just as easy as it was to set it up in Apple Home. The lock comes with 2 standard keys was well as 2 very small fobs, The thinnest fobs I have ever seen that are also simple to program, just lay them on the fob to be identified, name then and away you go. You can set the door to lock automatically after 30 seconds to as much as 1 hour. The lock itself turns smoothly. It works quickly when it locks and unlocks. It verbally tells you that the door has locked or unlocked, it tells you if the system locks itself and if the operation has failed. The Level Lock+ is a stellar example of smart home innovation. Its modern aesthetics, seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, and top-notch customer support make it a standout product in its category. I think this lock is well worth the investment. No one will ever know it a smart lock either. Whether you're an early adopter of smart home tech or simply seeking enhanced security and convenience, the Level Lock+ undoubtedly earns a 5-star rating.

A Decent Deadbolt if You live in Apple's Ecosystem
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Smart locks have taken off recently with everyone wanting to be able to remotely control access to their home for a multitude of reasons. While for me personally, I do not rent my home out or have guest access needs, but I do like to have a smart lock for having the peace of mind knowing that my house is secure and locked up when I am away. If you are someone who wants the same peace of mind, I would recommend this lock to you ONLY if: - You are fully embedded in the Apple ecosystem - Use an apple TV/homepod for "Wifi connectivity" If you do not have a homepod or apple TV, don't get this lock, its useless without the homepod integration IMO. Without the homepod/TV setup, you are stuck with a $400 bluetooth deadbolt that only works when you are within 20 feet of it. You won't be able to manage the lock via the Level app from remote locations, you won't even be able to tell if your door is locked or not locked. This is perhaps the biggest gripe I have with the unit is that it is $400 and requires you to spend hundreds more to really get the full experience, while you can spend a third of that money and get a just as comparable Wifi lock. Now, I understand that this method is actually more secure, no risk of your lock being exposed to a Wifi network that could get theoretically hacked and someone have control of your lock. However, there are more than enough security features now and days to help circumvent that, so not having Wifi builtin this lock is a major downside. Also, setup was poor for me. I did follow the instructions in setting the lock up via the Level app first and then I added Apple homekeys. However, the app bugged out, and then 2 days later my lock was completely dead and bricked. I contacted support, they did send me a new unit out and stated a firmware bug was the cause of my issue. The new unit has worked flawless so far which I am happy about. The setup process IS easy when it works, you can have the lock installed/configured in 10-15 minutes. The apple homekey does work well with the new lock, I am able to tap my watch and unlock the door, along with the included key-fobs as well. So far, home automation has worked well with my new lock, it was a little buggy at first but since then, the kinks have been ironed out. One other worry I have about this lock is the strength of the deadbolt latch. It just feels cheap, and looks cheap, and I worry about it's longevity because of this. It just does not feel very heavy-duty and secure like most deadbolt strikes are, just feels.... cheap...The exterior face is durable along with the inner mechanism inside the covers, but the actually bolt itself... not great. Because of the poor experience in initial setup, massive lack of remote controllability without a homepod/apple tv, questionable build quality and high price tag and requirements make me not too keen on recommending this product. I would pick it up on sale at half price, but would look for cheaper and more sturdy options that have just as many features (maybe not homekit) but others that can be used via Homebridge. I just hope that this lock stands up to the test of time.

Best smart deadbolt you can buy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Level Smart lock deadbolt replacement, and I still love it. What's included: Everything you need except for the screwdriver, including two keys and two keychain keycards (you don't have to use these, just an option) Pre-Setup: First, and this is important, make sure your door is compatible and can lock without pushing or pulling on the door. Both doors I installed a lock on was compatible, but I had to adjust them so they could lock. It is an easy fix, just search YouTube for videos on how to adjust doors. Install: The instructions are straight forward. First, you remove the existing deadbolt. You then follow the directions on how to install the new one. You start with the deadbolt itself, then the motor, then the key side and finally the paddle side on the interior side of the door. You can have this installed within 15 minutes, and the instructions are straight forward. Setup: Also very easy. Once you have the app on your phone, open it up and and follow the instructions for adding the lock. It is very quick and straight forward. If you have an apple device, it guides you through adding it to HomeKit, the home app, and using apple home key. Use: There are many different ways of using this lock. You can use it as a "dumb" lock with regular keys, using the key cards, using the Bluetooth and geolocation of you phone and simply touching the lock, using apple home key, OR using HomeKit/siri. This is just with apple, the lock integrates with other smart ecosystems as well. You can ALSO use a combination of any of those. The app, as well as apple home app, can tell you whether the door is locked/unlocked. You can also guest access to other users, and add/remove keycards as needed. Overall: I love this lock. It looks great (you can't even tell its a smart lock), works well and is easy to install and use.

Looks gorgeous, but doesn't actually work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The lock looks fantastic and works quietly but that's the only good part of it. It was a pain to install on my door - because the hole wasn't absolutely perfect, the lock wouldn't sit flat in the door. Took a bunch of maneuvering to get it to sit on top of the hole and function at all. I can deal with an annoying install... but the lock worked only about 9/10 times. That 10th time, it would lock and unlock in a constant cycle for ~30 seconds, or it would just refuse to lock via the app or Apple's HomeKey integration. And the deadbolt has the battery inside, a cool design, but not very secure feeling (just an aluminum shell over the battery). And in 4 months, I had to replace the battery twice, both times with no app warning, getting locked out if I didn't have my key. Their tech support was useless for all this, and won't let me return the lock since it's been installed in a door. I just don't trust it. Swapped to a Yale Assure lock for less money, and it's such an upgrade. It actually works and the batteries seem to be lasting longer.

Great design. Reliability depends...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always wanted to get into some smart door locks for my home but have never loved the way they look. I understand that some of them are makeshift conversion kits that are super easy to install over your existing lock but they're really bulky. Others include extra things like keypads and such which could be what you're after but I've never cared too much about that. So this lock is perfect for the "invisible" smart lock design I've been looking for. It does suffer in some areas, though. Installation wasn't too difficult. If your door is fully supported (there's a compatibility quiz on their website) then it's probably as simple as unscrewing the old deadbolt and putting them one in it's place. The strike plate for the door was a little larger than our old one so I needed to fix that but otherwise it was a pretty straight forward install. Setup is also pretty straight forward and shouldn't cause any issues. You download the Level app for your phone and it should just find the lock and let you set it up by following the instructions. I'm using HomeKit for my lock and didn't run into any issues getting it set up through both the app and Home. Setting up the HomeKey was also easy and automatic the first time I opened the Home app after setting up the lock. Your HomeKey is then shared with your family automatically so the only extra setup my wife needed to do is tell her phone if she wanted Express mode on or not. Everything about the setup was simple and straight forward. I'll talk about the looks of this lock again because it really does feel like an "invisible" smart lock as advertised. Besides the odd shape of the actual bolt (it's just round), you would really just assume it's a normal standard deadbolt. The outer lock with a key looks pretty similar to our old one. The inside looks a little different than you'd find on most dead bolts but nothing that would scream "smart lock!" at you. I'm just impressed with how stealthy this lock looks. Usage will vary depending on your method of unlocking which is really the only thing I'm not incredibly happy about and the main reason for my rating. For us, it's not a huge deal because we don't use the door that this lock is attached to all that often, but it can still be frustrating when you try and unlock your door and it either takes a really long time or it just doesn't work and you get a connection error of some sort. When it comes to unlocking with HomeKit itself, you'll run into similar issues with a lot of HomeKit devices where Home just struggles to connect to the device sometimes. I haven't experienced anything where I was locked out of the house for hours or anything but I've had it take multiple attempts at unlocking the door before it finally connected. Using the Level app also had some connection issues but they felt a little less frequent. I did have multiple times where I pressed the unlock button and had it take a full 40 seconds of thinking before the lock actually reacted. It's, again, more rare but in the short time I've had the lock, it's happened more than once. Opening with HomeKey was fairly reliable. Not always the fastest but it seemed to work most of the time and usually didn't take very long. The less "smart" ways of opening the lock still felt really good. The physical keys work if the battery dies on the lock so you won't have to worry about having backup batteries if you just have your key on you. Worst case scenario, it just turns back into your dumb lock. The package also contains some NFC key fobs you can program in the Level app and assign a name to. These seemed to work really well and quick and even shows which key fob was used to lock and unlock the door so you can keep track of who's coming and going for the keys you've given out. Along with the ability to disable a key fob if it gets lost of stolen, I almost feel like the key fobs are my favorite way of using this lock. So if you're in the market for a smart lock but you don't want your front door to scream "HEY LOOK AT ME I'M A SMART LOCK!", then this is a lock you can seriously consider. The connection issues are annoying but since I've never had an issue that persisted for more than a few retries, I can live with it. The look of the lock seals the deal for me and if anything can be done about the connection issues and speed issues, I would rate this lock even higher. Worth a look!

Great minimalist deadbolt
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's get the basics out of the way. The Level Lock+ Smart Lock is definitely a deadbolt lock, so make sure that if you decide to purchase this device, you already have a matching doorknob. Also, keep in mind that the electronics in this deadbolt do not extend to control anything on your doorknob, so if your doorknob also locks, it will continue to be a manual process to lock and unlock it (something maybe folks don't think about when considering these kinds of things, but are crucial for the process of securing your house!). Overall, this is a great deadbolt made of top-quality materials, so if cost is an issue for you, you won't be dismayed by less-than-stellar materials. Plus, I personally like the design that the included battery actually sits within the bolt itself; not only do you have to get to the end of the bolt to unscrew it, but if a perpetrator actually cut the bolt, they'd kill the battery to the electronics, making it impossible to electronically open the lock (you'd need one of the two included keys). I haven't tested that out, but the way the battery is situated in the bolt, that's what, in fact, would happen. The hardest thing for most folks to deal with will be following directions. If you can follow directions to get your current deadbolt uninstalled and this one installed, you'll be golden. Honestly, the directions are very straightforward, but if you miss key aspects -- such as making sure the "TOP" side of the bolt assembly is, in fact, "up," or that you do not want to use a drill when screwing in the multiple screws (seriously, you'll damage the threads and/or heads) -- you'll definitely have issues. Pairing on the Level app was also straightforward -- the device uses Bluetooth for such setup. There is an extra step for setting things up with the Apple Home collection. Not sure if they support anything for Google, so keep that in mind if you have such devices. Overall, this is a great deadbolt.

Nifty little lock with Apple Home Keys
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using smart locks for a few years now but mostly ones with keypads This is my first lock that I can use my phone to unlock through Apples Home Keys. The unboxing presentation was nice. All components you need to install were in the box, no need for anything other than a phillips head screw driver. After reading the instructions thoroughly I laid out all the components on the table and removed my old bolt lock. I started the process of the installation by trying to put the bolt/cylinder through the hole. Well I hit my first snag, the hole was not wide or round enough for the fairly fat cylinder to fit through. I was able to bore the hole out a bit more with a drill and drill bit and after that I had no more issues getting the lock installed. The real key to getting this installed correctly is making sure the center housing/motor is installed correctly and the set screw is tightened so nothing moves. This is clearly illustrated in the instructions. If you have installed other bolts locks before you will not have an issue installing this. Downloaded the Level app and walked through set up with no issues. In about 30 minutes after unboxing I was using my Home Keys to unlock the door. I was super impressed. After I had everything working I invited my family members to the level lock app and within minutes they too were up and running. No more fumbling with keys or even a keypad to get in the house. Just whip out my phone and verify myself in the Wallet app with my face ID and bam Im in my house just like that. NFC is just a tad slow on this lock but within about 5 seconds it does unlock. This lock can also get added to your Home app (iPhone) and you can manually lock/unlock from there too. If you're looking for a similar lock I can easily recommend using the Level Lock system. It works really well.

Must share precise location to use all features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you aren’t prepared to always share your precise location with Level, this might not be the smart lock for you. I was excited to try out this smart lock from Level, however, upon installing, I quickly learned that I needed to share my data and precise location all the time in order for the lock to work smoothly. Personally, I try avoiding this with most of the apps that I use. I prefer to share my data or location only when using the app, and unfortunately this smart lock does not work efficiently if you want to keep the app from not knowing where you are at all times. I wanted to try this instead of the smart lock that I currently have installed which is a keypad and not as smart as this lock. Here is my review based on my experience with this lock for less than a week. Unboxing experience 4/5 Presentation for me is key, and this product presents itself as a luxury product that even unboxing is part of the experience. Installation 5/5 Easiest smart lock to install. Had it installed in less than 10 minutes. Quality Built 5/5 The craftsman ship is excellence. Quality product all around. Heavy and sturdy as a lock should be. Accessories 4/5 The box came with 2 key fobs and 2 keys. The keys are great as a backup which in my experience I needed because the lock lost connection somehow as I was using my phone to open the door. Connectivity & HomeKit 2/5 I am not prepared to always share my precise location to make using a home door lock efficient and easy to use, and when I didn’t want to share my precise location at all times, the door lock still worked but I had to take out my phone or use my apple watch to unlock the lock. This would be great and work for me, but in my experience the recognition of my watch or phone could be laggy and the times it recognizes me right away, the lock took approximately 3 seconds to open. 3 seconds doesn’t sound like a lot but when you’re carrying groceries or other stuff, it makes the process harder. I decided to go back to my smart lock with a keypad because it’s faster even when I must enter the quick code. Overall, I would recommend this if you were okay with sharing your precise location at all times because the lock will know when you’re getting close to your house and will even unlock itself as you get close to the door. However, if you’re not ready for that, this might not be the lock for you.

Buy a Schlage instead.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased the Level Lock + with the assumption it was going to function the way we wanted and look great whilst doing it. Unfortunately, we could not have been more wrong. We bought a Level Lock back in July and, after the last 6 months, I wish we would have just lit the $400+ on fire. Level Lock claims that the batteries should last for a year with normal use, which is locking and unlocking the door 10x a day. Ours lasted 2-3 weeks. After replacing the battery a couple of time, we reached out to Level’s customer service. For a over a month, we exchanged emails with them, following their instruction of providing pictures and videos of our lock, updated our firmware, answering questions of what phones we had, how thick our door was, if we had a storm door, if our screws were loose, what kind of firmware we had, have we replaced the batteries after they died, resetting our lock etc etc. We reassured them numerous times there was no obstruction in the receiving hole of the door frame, there is no signs of wear and tear on the bolt indicating there’s an obstruction, that the lock doesn’t stall and locks and unlock when asked (as long as the batteries weren’t dead). Our experience with them went round and round like above, answering the same questions multiple times. Not once did they ask for the lock to be sent in for internal review, even after we inquired if we could just send it in for internal review. We are not able to have any of the automatic functions on because it drains the battery more and don’t trust the smart features of this smart lock. Throughout all of this, Level Lock maintained the lock was working as designed. If the intention is to replace the batteries every 2-3 weeks, then gold star. We ultimately replaced the lock with the Schlage Encode +. What lead us to Level Lock in the first place was Apple’s recommendation through their website. As much as we trust Apple, Level Lock was the wrong choice. Stay away, save your money and go with Schlage.

Waste of $200
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is a waste of money if you don’t buy the whole set level bolt plus level lock- as the bolt itself is not compatible with a vast majority of locks. Which defeats the point of of this product being invisible and allowing you to use regular esthetic locks.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really wanted to like this because it looks like a standard lock but its garbage. We found the door unlocked in the morning a new times and habe noticed the lock randomly unlocks itself in the middle of the night. Generally it works as intended about 50% of the time. We also bought the key pad for the kids and wnd up using that more because the mobile and touch features arent good. Save your money and buy something else
