I wanted to really love this lock but it was not very functional. The touch unlock feature wouldn’t work at all. The Bluetooth feature was not much better and work error out more often then it would work. Unfortunate since the aesthetics were very nice.

This is the fourth “Smart” lock I've installed and like the others, just as simple - just six screws and a set screw and boom, it really is a no brainer. One thing to be aware of when installing, unlike my previous locks, you do have to take the old bolt and strike plate out of the door and frame and use the supplied Level Lock bolt since this is where the battery goes rather than in a box on the back of the door. I think the coolest thing about the Level Lock is that no one knows you have a smart lock unless you tell them. There are two versions, the Level Lock and the Level Lock Touch Edition. I received the Touch edition. The difference between the two is the ability to touch the key housing or use a hotel-like key card to open the lock vs only able to use the app, the remaining features are the same. Once installed, the Level Lock looks and acts like any deadbolt lock - with the addition of the smart features. Pairing with my phones, both Apple and Google was seamless and straightforward as was adding additional family members. The only thing to note here is each user should have their own account rather than sharing one account among the family. Using the Level Lock Touch offers three smart ways to lock and unlock. The first is by simply touching the exterior of the lock. This method does require you have your phone with you and the app permissions set accordingly. The second is by using the included key cards, once set up, just tap the card to the front of the lock and it opens just like a hotel door. The third is by enabling the Auto Unlock feature. Once the lock recognizes your phone within range, the lock will unlock - again as long as the app is configured with the correct permissions. Finally, you can use a physical key. You can also connect the lock with either Apple HomeKit or Amazon Street Network. This adds and allows internet connectivity to the lock as well routines, voice control and remote capabilities. Both of these features do require additional hardware such as a Ring Video Doorbell or Apple HomeKit device like an Apple TV or HomePod. Setup with Apple HomeKit was also simple. There are only two things that I didn't like about the Level Lock Touch, neither of which were deal breakers but were the reason I only gave four stars First, the Level Lock uses Schlage internals and includes two keys. You can have the lock re-keyed if needed but this would require disassembly or having a locksmith. At this price point, I would have preferred Kwikset SmartKey internals which allow the end user to re-key at their convenience. An option to choose at purchase would have been a plus. Second, and more importantly - there is no Google Home integration. While I assume many people have multi-platform homes and this may not be an issue for them, not including Google Home at this price point is a big missed opportunity. Hopefully this will be added in a future app/firmware update. I really do like the Level Lock Touch and it has worked flawlessly for me. Yes, I would recommend this to my friends.

The Level Touch Invisible Smart Lock is beautifully finished and comes in high-end, purpose-built packaging with no waste materials. This Smart Lock works though a Bluetooth connection to your phone. You can use the lock if you carry your smartphone, one of the credit card-sized key cards, or one of the provided keys with you. The installation instructions are clear and thorough. The instructions walk you through removal of your existing deadbolt and installation of the Level Touch deadbolt. You have a choice of short or long screws—the long ones would make the installation more secure. All you need is a Phillips-head screwdriver… That is, if the Touch Smart Lock is the exact dimensions of the deadbolt lock you want to replace, and if your deadbolt works smoothly without pushing or pulling the door when you turn the bolt. Our installation took about 90 minutes, and required quite a bit of chiseling. The door frame was very hard wood and we had to use the shorter screws because we did not have a long enough drill bit to make a pilot hole for the longer screws. If the Smart Lock is not a perfect fit for the deadbolt you are replacing, and you are not handy with tools. you will need a carpenter or handyman to install the deadbolt. The Level app controls the smart lock. It is easy to install the app (I installed it on my iPhone) and pair with the lock. You can choose “touch to lock” and/or “touch to unlock” or have the device unlock automatically when you come within range. You cannot lock and unlock multiple times without leaving your home area. This is a disadvantage if you have the Level Touch deadbolt installed on a door that you lock and unlock frequently, without leaving your home area—for example, a back door or a garage door. Remote use of the Level Touch Invisible Smart Lock requires the use of apple HomeKit and the latest version of iOS or iPadOS and an apple device—a HomePod, AppleTV, or iPad set up as a home hub. This allows remote unlocking and voice control with Siri. If you choose, you can use this Smart Lock with your phone, without setting up your home hub. All told, this is a great-looking Smart Lock; outsiders would not be able to tell it from a normal deadbolt. It is a well-built, nicely finished piece of hardware with electronics and battery hidden inside. The firmware has data encryption.

Touch feature is unreliable and complicated. Have to leave the zone...so I leave the zone... Never works. With a lock you want consistent performance. There are other options so we just disabled the touch thing

The Level Touch lock never works. It's particularly frustrating when my wife tries to use it and always ends up pulling out her key because this $300 lock never does the one thing it's supposed to do. On top of that, they have the ability to make Apple key work on it, but instead chose to keep that feature deactivated and created a new $300+ lock with that feature "added". Trash company with mediocre products.

I have two types of August Smart Locks installed at my home and have installed a Wyze Smart lock at my parent's house. In general, I look for Smart Locks where I can keep the same physical key and alter as little as possible from the outside so I'm not advertising that I have a Smart Lock installed. I like the concept of the Level Smart Lock where most of their technology is located in the deadbolt mechanism, as opposed to the August and Wyze Locks, where most of their technology is located in the throw lever side. What's also interesting to me is that the Level Lock has WiFi built in without having a plug in adapter. Installation of the Level Lock - Touch Edition went very smooth. I have installed all the exterior lock sets for my house previously, so I did not require any more instructions than what I already knew or found in the Level Lock instructions. While some normal lock sets allow you to customize the installation from an in-set rectangular faceplate to a rounded faceplate, the Level Lock - Touch Edition only allows the in-set rectangular faceplate. So you may need to chisel out some door material to allow it to fit properly. After installation, setup in the app was very easy. The lock was recognized very quickly and a firmware update was needed. Operation within the app is fairly intuitive. The Touch aspect of this lock comes from the outer ring on the keyed portion of this deadbolt. You touch the ring when you want to lock or unlock the deadbolt (provided the right conditions are in place). I enabled the auto lock and unlock feature and set the geo-fence area. However, my neighborhood is pretty small so if I go for a walk around my neighborhood, I'm still in the geo-fenced area. The auto-unlock feature needs me to be outside of my geo-fenced area for a pre-set period of time (e.g. 2 minutes) in order for me to touch the lock for auto-unlock. So I would like the ability to change the geo-fence size. The lock set includes two keys and two keycards. These keycards are handy to give to a child that doesn't carry around a smart phone. However, to set up these keycards, you must have a NFC enabled phone. I recently replaced my phone with a budget friendly device and it doesn't have NFC capability. So I wasn't able to set it up. I still have my old phone with NFC capability, so when I have a need for these cards, I can set them up for use. I like that the Level Lock - Touch Edition has several styles to choose from. I chose the Satin Nickel finish and it matches the finish of all my other locks. While it doesn't exactly fit the same style, it's close enough. From the outside, it looks like any other keyed deadbolt. There are no signs of it being a Smart Lock which is big in my book. Power for this lock is supplied by a single CR2 style battery that is located in the deadbolt itself. I don't know how long it will last. Since I have it installed on a door that is rarely used, I expect it will last several months. As a side note. I happen to have Schlage locks installed on all my exterior doors. I previously spent the extra time to learn how to re-key my locks and purchase a $12 kit to re-key them with. When I ordered this Level Lock - Touch Edition, I was a little hesitant because I knew it would likely mean a separate key set. I would much rather have one key to open all my doors. However, to my surprise, I have noticed that the key style, tail piece, and after removing a cover, the mechanisms seem to match Schlage. I even tried my Schlage key to make sure the side notches matched up and they did. So I plan to play with this in the future to see if I can re-key the Level Lock - Touch edition to match the rest of my lock sets. I already anticipate that this will not be as easy of a re-key as other locks, but I believe it can be done. This will likely void any kind of Warranty, so this should only be attempted if you have the proper tools and experience. I got my first Smart Lock to address a very specific use case. When we receive a package, she will unlock and open the front door, retrieve the package and then close the door and forget to lock it. After many years, of struggling, I came to the realization that it would be easier to purchase and program a smart lock than to re-program my wife. :-) Since the Level Locks don't offer a door open/close sensor, they cannot address this use case. Overall, the Level Lock - Touch Edition is a solid product with a good feature set. If you're looking for the touch lock and unlock or the NFC card capabilities, the Level Lock - Touch Edition is the only solution that I know of. But for my use case, I need a door open/close sensor and so I would recommend a different brand that costs a bit less.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. Level Touch uses a 5 pin C style key cylinder that can definitely be rekeyed to match your existing Schlage keys. We recommend contacting a professional locksmith to perform the rekeying of the cylinder. levelhome

Terrible software! this locks needs a wifi! considering cheaper locks offer it. the NFC cards never worked , like never. The touch to open works sometimes and the bluetooth functionality prevents remote control ( I can unlock the door from my garage coz its too far, I live in a condo ). I went for August smart lock instead. This one is not worth the money for the price and features. Cheaper locks are available

Defective out of the box. Manufacturer and BestBuy making it nearly impossible to get it fixed. Just paid $99 extra to force BB to come out here nearly a MONTH after purchase to get it to install correctly but I'm not that hopeful. I should've just paid to get a regular manual deadbolt because I just spend $300+ to have a "smart" lock that only works manually with a physical key.
