I have dry heat in my house from an electric furnace, and I constantly have to moisturize my skin excessively! I had a few different humidifiers, and they would either run out of water really quick, or they will leave a big puddle of water wherever this unit is at. So when I had an opportunity to get this humidifier, I jumped at the chance! My first thought about this humidifier went assembling it, was it I thought maybe they had too many separate pieces to put together. It took me a few extra minutes because I had to realize, that the very last piece had to be turned in the opposite direction of which it was facing at the time. So next, I had to fill it with water, which was a little difficult because the wheels kept spinning in like a circle instead of straight forward or backwards. After everything was finished, I finally got a chance to use the humidifier. I've used it now for approximately three days and already noticed a difference in my skin! I haven't had to refill it yet, but I'm sure I will have too soon. I also noticed that my nose isn't extremely dry when I wake up. Some of my past humidifiers cost a lot more than this one, and was much less effective and gave me a lot of problems. I also really like the app that you download, because you can turn your unit on or off anytime you want and you can see the humidity in your home from the app! So far so good, but I really think I'm gonna Love having this humidifier around!

The Levoit Superior 6000S Smart Evaporative Humidifier is by far the best humidifier I have ever owned. It has a 6 gallon water tank. The water tank which is the base of the unit sits on top of 4 wheels, making it  easy to push anywhere around the floor. Filling the unit could not get any easier. All you have to do is push the base over to any sink and attached the included funnel and hose. The funnel is a soft rubber that is easy to wrap around any faucet. While the funnel will fit around a tub faucet, the funnel does not make an airtight enclosure and still needs gravity to feed the water through the tube, so a tub faucet is not recommended as the height is not ideal. The best feature of this humidifier is the way that it introduces the water into the air. It uses 4 separate wick filters that sit above the water tank. Water is pulled from the bottom and trickled down over the filters. A lot of other humidifiers place their filters in the water. This causes the filters to stay wet all the time, which not only breaks the filter down quicker but can also lead to the growth of bacteria and mold. Filters that sit in the water also do not get the same coverage of  water across the filter area either, making this process less efficient. Levoit does not recommend using their humidifier  on slanted surfaces because of the way the water is distributed over the filters, plus the unit is on wheels.  Levoit's filters last longer and stay cleaner because the humidifier has a dry feature specifically for the filters. You can  set the dry feature on or off, and even change it's setting on the unit, or through the app. Drying the filters helps to prolong the filter's use and prevent mold and bacteria from growing. Because of the capacity and ease to fill this humidifier, I do use tap water. However, we have very hard water in  my area, so I also use a water treatment drop in. The manufacturer doesn't say that it is necessary, and doesn't claim that you have to use distilled water either, but it just makes maintenance a bit easier.  Unlike other cool water and warm mist humidifiers this evaporative humidifier doesn't leave surfaces around the  unit wet. I was constantly having to place towels around my other humidifiers to help collect the run off of the  falling mist. Neither my furniture nor my floor has gotten wet from using this humidifier, and I leave it running  all day and every night. I have dry eye syndrome so having this in my room definitely lessens the morning symptoms. The winter months are typically worse for dry eye and my sinuses because of the natural lack of  moisture in the air. It is amazing how well this unit increases the humidity in the entire room, and not just in front of it. Technically this could be used to maintain a whole floor of a house, but I use it just for my bedroom. I will  probably get a second one for the other parts of the house. There are several different humidity settings that be activated through the app or the unit itself. There are presets for "Auto Home" and "Auto Away" in which the unit has a specific humidity level and fan setting that it uses for the current temperature in your home. If you want a little more control, there is a regular auto mode that you can adjust the humidity level and fan speeds of the unit, the unit will shut off temporarily when the target humidity is met. It even has a sleep mode that lowers the fan and turns off the display lights.  It is very easy to use the app and connect the unit. All it takes is your wifi password, the app does all the rest for you. With the app you can turn on or turn off the unit while away from the house, and even set the humidity level.  The app even makes it easier to change the settings from bed if you feel you need it a little more or less humid.

When I say it’s worth every penny, I mean it. With the rising costs of electricity, any assistance in keeping our heating bill in check is worth its weight in gold (quite literally). Using this humidifier in a central location in our house immediately affected the humidity level in our entire house! We have tried in line humidifiers, connected directly to our HVAC and even with them running 24/7 they never achieved the results that one 24 hour period did with this humidifier. So lets start from the beginning. Unpacking and physical setup were simple and easy. Setting the app was also straight forward, but it took a couple times for the firmware update to take. I had to turn the machine off, remove it from the app, and then link it again. That did the trick! Also, if you have a 2.4ghz/5Ghz mesh network, you may have to do some adjustments to your network settings. I would recommend for simplicity (and safety) setting up an IOT (internet of things) only subnetwork that is only running on 2.4ghz. This keeps your personal devices ( cellphones, laptops, tablets, etc) disconnected from all your other smart devices that can be more susceptible to hacking attacks. It also also IOT/smart devices a network to run on their own, which divides traffic and available IP addresses. But I digress. Getting this thing in the dead of winter was a godsend! Once I turned it on, I set it to reach 47% humidity. It took about 24 hours and 8-10 gallons of water, but it is comfortably sitting at that point now and is not constantly running. Obviously it may take longer due to environmental variables, but it will get there and maintain. We have a Nest thermostat that allows us to have the circulator fan kick on the HVAC from time to time. I think this helps disperse the humid air to the rest of the house. We are on well water. And while I know the manufacturer said it can take water straight from the tap, we opted to use water from our reverse osmosis system. This is straight H20 that has been filtered to remove any contaminants. This helps keep our unit cleaner, longer. I did recently clean the device following the instructions in the owner’s manual online. It is very simple and was done in less than five minutes. There are a couple of parts that have to be replaced after a time. The four blue filters at the top and the round, white inline filter that sits on the end of the hose in the tank. Both can be washed out during the cleaning process, but it is recommended by the manufacturer that they be replaced during the times listed in the owner’s manual. For the life of me I couldn’t find these replacement filters. They are not offered on the company’s app, or store. I contacted Levoit and they immediately responded giving me links to purchase the filters off Amazon. You can find them by searching “LEVOIT 4-Pack Premium Filter for Superior 6000S” and “LEVOIT 10-Pack Top Fill Humidifier Replacement Filters”. They’re not very expensive which surprised me, as other air cleaning devices we’ve purchased in the past have a low-cost device but the cost of the filters is exorbitant! Not the case with Levoit! Well done! Our machine has be running for nearly a month now. I will warn again that if your house is dry, it may take A LOT of water at the beginning. But after running for a bit it will slow down. We now keep our house 3-4 degrees cooler in the winter because it feels so comfortable and even throughout the house. That is definitely putting money back in our pocket. I would HIGHLY recommend this humidifier to anyone looking to make their home more comfortable!

This review covers the Levoit Superior 6000S Smart Evaporative Humidifier. I looked forward to receiving the Levoit because of the rather dry air caused by the heater during the winter season here in the south. Although I enjoy the cooler weather, the dryness always plays havoc with my sinuses and skin all throughout the winter months. Unpacking and assembling the Levoit humidifier was rather unremarkable, that is, other than making sure a couple of components faced in the correct direction, and making sure the siphon hose was properly placed, the entire process was simple and easy. There is a Quick Start Guide included with the enclosed literature, and it was more than sufficient to get even me through the setup. After assembling all the components (which took right at ten minutes), it was time to fill the water reservoir. Filling the reservoir utilizes a rather unique system in which a rubber grip attaches to a faucet and allows water to run down a plastic hose into the reservoir itself. I wasn’t too sure about how well the rubber grip would grip the faucet, but it worked like a charm. The reservoir holds six gallons of water. My water pressure was a bit low, so I had time to brew a cup of tea while I waited for the Levoit to fill up completely. After it was filled, I wheeled it to the living room which is the most central location in my house. The Levoit humidifier is rated for 3000 sqft. My house is nowhere near that large, so I knew it would be more than adequate. After I put it where I wanted, I plugged it in, and according to the directions, turned it on. The Levoit humidifier comes with a well-lit display panel located at the top of the unit. There are several different functions to choose from: Power, “Dry Mode,” Sleep Mode, Automatic Mode, Fan Control, Humidity Level, Display On/Off, and Timer. Also, by holding the Power button for several seconds, you can activate the Wi-Fi connection function. After familiarizing myself with all the different functions (outlined in the included User’s Manual), I tried out each one. It’s really amazing just how much control Levoit had designed the user to have over this unit. The user can set it to fully automatic which allows the humidifier to do everything, or the user can control everything from the desired level of humidity, how long they want it to run, even the fan speed. Speaking of which, there are three different fan speeds to choose from, Low, Medium, and High. Levoit boasts of “Ultra Quiet” operation, and in the lowest fan speed this is true. However, Medium and High are quite noticeable, even across the room. However, if the television is on, or if you are having a conversation, you most likely won’t notice it so much. Levoit states a full tank of water will last up to 72 hours on the lowest setting. As I stated before, I have been testing this unit out for several days. I have had it on Automatic mode. Due to the dryness of the air, it seems like two days is about as long as I can get before refill is needed. This doesn’t mean I let it run all the way out, but not knowing if what was left would last the night, I chose to fill it up before going to bed. The refill process is simple…just lift off the top of the unit, attach the refill hose to a faucet, and fill it up. This is where I am super disappointed with Levoit. For the most part, the humidifier appears to be very well constructed. The parts seem durable, and I get the impression that the unit will last several seasons. However, for whatever reason, Levoit chose to equip the unit with some of the “cheapest” wheels possible. As I wheeled the unit from the sink back to the living room, the wheels bogged down under the weight of the water. I was literally afraid that the unit would tip over, so I had to bend over and push it from the base to prevent a possible disaster. This was ever so much more noticeable on the area rug. I had to fold the rug over and let the unit roll on the floor. The results have been quite good so far. The air in the house is noticeably more “friendly.” After only a day, I noticed my sinuses didn’t feel so dry and irritated. Even my skin was noticeably relieved. The one thing I was most concerned about was what affect the added humidity would have on the furniture, flooring, and the rest of the interior. I have noticed that everything is good…no moisture anywhere, even on the furniture closest to the unit. BOTTOM LINE I have to admit I was most concerned about the introduction of additional moisture to the interior of my house. Levoit has done an outstanding job in designing this unit, and they absolutely know what they are doing. The humidifier has worked wonders on the overall living quality inside my home…not just the living room where the unit is located, but all throughout the house. For the most part, the noise of the unit is unnoticeable on its lowest setting. And the lowest setting is really all I have needed after the humidity level reached its initial goal. The wheel issue is a major distraction from the overall experience. I can’t help but wonder how many units have already toppled over. Six gallons of water can do a lot of damage. Would I recommend the Levoit Superior 6000S Smart Evaporative Humidifier to my friends and family? I would have to give a huge resounding “YES!!” Even in spite of the wheel issue. The unit does its job and does it extremely well. It is a well-built unit, built for several years of good use.

I haven’t used a humidifier in my house for years. The ones mounted on the furnace required much maintenance, and the portable units were difficult to fill and required constant filter replacements. I thought I’d give the Levoit 6000S a shot and I’m glad I did. First, it’s really easy to fill. It uses regular tap water and is on rollers so it rolls right up to the sink. Included is a rubber hose with a ‘faucet gripper’ end which grabs and holds onto the sink faucet so you don’t have to hold it there. Of course, like most everything today it’s wi-fi capable and the app makes it so easy to use. You can set the unit a number of ways. You can set the target humidity level, set the speed of the fan if you’re not happy with the self-setting. You can set a sleep mode which will keep the fan low at bedtime or turn it off altogether. There’ s a “Dry Mode” which will extend the life of the wick filters. All these features can be controlled by the app. Of course, if the unit runs out of water, it turns itself off. I was delighted to see the filters are easily removed and WASHABLE, so they don’t need constant replacement. Most importantly, I found the unit humidifies the house very efficiently. It arrived during a cold spell in Chicago, so I could actually see how effective it was. I’m a ‘weather geek’ so I have several humidity indicators around the house. In just a few minutes the humidity in my room started rising, and not long after I saw the humidity in other rooms in the house showed an increase as well. The only negative I could find to talk about, is that the clear ‘tube window’ at the front of the unit which shows the remaining water in the tank is very hard to use. The problem is since the water you put in the unit is clear, I needed the light on my phone shining in the window to see the water level. Since that’s not the fault of the humidifier, I really can’t blame Levoit, lol. Bottom line, if you want a well-made, easy to clean, use and operate device to help humidify your home, I think you’ll be happy with the Superior 6000S.

I was skeptical of the utility of a 'smart' humidifier, but after using this for a few days, I must say that it's quite nice! Is it necessary, not really, but it's a nice feature to have. Much like a smart thermostat, it's just a nice feature to have, and they complement each other nicely to control the air in your home. Ultimately, this is a high-capacity humidifier which you can set up and forget for a long time. It does have settings for timed use, night-time darkening of the display, schedules, and more, but what I find to be the primary setting to use is just to say, "keep the humidity at 40%". When you set the percentage, it simply comes on when the air is too dry. It's really just that simple. Another nice feature if you live in an area that can be quite humid during certain times of year is that it has a "dry" setting where it will run it's fan without generating humidity in order to dry out the four filters that are built in so that you can store it without worrying about things growing and needing to be cleaned or replaced before you set it up again. It's also a very nice consideration that they have included a hose to fill the tank indoors. I don't know if you've tried to lift 6 gallons of water before, but it's quite heavy. With the hose, you can just put the rubber fitting over your sink nozzle and the end into the tank and fill it up without needing to lift it or worry about spilling. That being said, it's on casters which are nice if you have hard floors, but not so great for carpet. If you plan on putting this in a room with carpet, you may want to get furniture sliders to let it glide across.

However, with the size of the 6000S and how much air it can move over its pads, it can raise the humidity fairly quickly. The two big selling points are the 6 gallon tank and smart connectivity features, but both those features have significant flaws. Levoit claims the thing is "easy to refill," but that all depends on your house layout, where you put the humidifier, and which faucet you use to refill it. Ideally, you roll the humidifier to your sink, set aside the top fan assembly, run the hose down into the tank through the filter assembly, fill it, then roll it back in place. However, if you have a lot of carpet, those four articulating wheels on the bottom don't work so well. The tank also lacks carry handles. As the tank alone weighs over 50 lbs when full, moving it up and down stairs is a major hassle. And if you need to remove the filter assembly, it's awkward to set it aside due to the exposed filters and wet hose hanging off the bottom. They may be small complaints, and they certainly don't apply to everyone's situation, but these small niggles add up to big frustration if you have to deal with them every few days. In order to use the humidifier with the mobile application ( VeSync ), you must register an account with Levoit/VeSync, which is just another password to remember and another source of spam email. If you want to operate the humidifier remotely while away from your home, an account is fine, but it's completely ridiculous if you only want to manage things locally. There's a decided lack of options to customize how the humidifier runs. Four modes are available, both on the mobile app and device control panel. Manual sets the fan to one of three static speeds. The app shows 10 speeds, but it's incorrect ( speeds 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 are all the same ). In Humidity mode the fan will turn on and off automatically trying to maintain a set humidity %. Auto mode is similar, except it uses a preset table that changes humidity % target depending on the temperature. Sleep mode is the same as Manual on low, except it turns the control panel on the humidifier off so it doesn't light up a room at night. You can also set up schedules, such as turning the humidifier on in the morning, turning the display off at night, etc. While the fan is very quiet on low, it's noticeable on medium and quite loud on high. The Humidity and Auto modes tend to use fairly aggressive fan speeds, keeping the fan on medium or high. Unfortunately there's no way to customize these operating modes, like limiting fan speed on Auto or setting a humidity target on Manual, etc. That's unacceptable to me for a humidifier that costs $250 ( as of this writing ). The VeSync mobile app does allow more custom and complex operation, but it's not fast or easy to do. You create "Smart Scenes" which are programmatic if/then functions. If certain criteria are met ( a time of day, change in room humidity, etc ) then do certain actions ( turn off humidifier, change to other mode of operation, and more ). To its credit, VeSync is designed to link multiple smart home appliances and can make a very integrated system. However there's no instruction manual for it or online guides to explain exactly how the triggers work. Instead you have to search through the help forums visible in the app to find the answer to your questions. In doing so I found that there's no way to set Scene priority. If multiple Scenes can be triggered on at a given moment, it's random as to which will be triggered. This means you need to be very careful in how you set your Scene criteria, or risk having the humidifier constantly changing modes. In the long term, there's also the question of maintenance costs for the S6000. New filter pads are $40 for a set. While the filters are washable, the manual recommends replacing them every few months. Thankfully the humidifier has a dry mode feature. If enabled, whenever the humidifier turns off, the water pump will stop while the fan continues to spin for 30 - 120 minutes. This dries out the filters when not in use, which prevents the growth of mold and helps them last longer. I don't think the S6000 is a "bad" humidifier. It just doesn't seem up to the current retail cost. Individually, my complaints with it are fairly small, but added together it shows a lack of thought and finish on the product, like having only a 5-foot power cable. If you're not too specific on how you want it to run, or if moderate fan noise isn't an issue to you, it will probably suit your needs fine. For those that have more specific requirements, or that need more precise control over room humidity, you'll probably be disappointed given the asking price.

Got this in and immediately setup. Setup was intuitive and easy, Filling with water was made especially easy using the water tube. not having to life the base up to the cabinet or use a pitcher to move water was a really nice touch. Wish it did store the tube in the machine some how. I ran this at 40% humidy and didn't see much movement on that measurement but it ran out of water. The app did alert me that it was dry and I promptly refilled. The second container did increase my RH from 32% to 40% this time. I guess the wick filters had to become saturated?? Wheels on the bottom permit the easy roll to the sink. Touch panel on the top is responsive. App is easy to use and notifications work well. The unit was a bit larger than i expected but we put it in the corner and its running well. I do have a thermostat about 12ft away and the 2 are only about 3points difference. I do love that I don't have any condensation along the wall or near the unit like other units. The fan can be a tad on the louder side but its tolerable and only when wide open. So far, so good= Recommended!

Living in Minnesota in the winter dry air is a real problem. Static shocks are a common occurrence. Finding a good humidifier to keep the humidity level at a comfortable point is a necessity. The Levolt Superior 6000s definitely does the job. What I like about this humidifier: 1). Size - it doesn’t take up a lot of space and it is collapsible to store when it is not needed. 2). Portability - having had other humidifiers the ability to roll them on wheels is unique. This one has sturdy wheels. 3). Remote App - smart home devices are becoming more common. I have space heaters and other items that are controlled this way. The ability to set up schedules, monitor water levels, and turn the unit off and on remotely is a fantastic option. What could be different: 1) water refill - typically the water will last 24 hours which isn’t too bad. You just need to plan on filling it daily. The real problem is carrying the water tank for refills. It can be awkward and you need to be careful not to spill. Overall this is an excellent humidifier and I would definitely recommend d it.

I am love with my new humidifier, who knew that something like this could have such a positive impact on my home. I live in a condo and cannot install a humidifier that is hooked up through my furnace, so I've had to use small humidifiers in my bedroom and office. That means filling up the water often which always created a mess. Without a humidifier, my nose burns some from the dry heat in the home come winter. My new Levoit makes it so much easier and I can keep in the center of my home and have coverage in all rooms. Setup was a freeze, including the smart features. Just remove all of the plastic and follow the instructions to put it together. I keep mine in my kitchen and it's incredibly easy to wheel it over near my sink, then using the included faucet/hose attachment, I fill it with water in minutes with zero mess. No water on my countertops or on my floors. I keep mine on Auto most of the time, unless I am leaving the house, which has been often lately. I can control it with the app and not waste the water or electricity. The humidifier works perfectly! It was really cold last week and my nose wasn't burning at all with the heat up high. This is one of those products I wasn't so sure of when I ordered it, but I am so happy that I did. I highly recommend it.

Works very well in my large, open floor plan, single story home. In my parents 2 level home, one unit on each floor works better than just 1 unit on the first floor. The unit does not require distilled water.

I just purchased and it will be delivered soon. I didnt ready any noise complaints and wondering the rated decibel rating. Im excited about this purchase. I will write another review once recieved and in use.

Very satisfied with the quality and performance of this humidifier though the water level gauge is difficult to read.
