    Faulty?

    I purchased this during black friday. Once I got it plugged in and going everything seemed fine until I started fiddling with some home consoles, namely the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. I wasn't quite able to get to the bottom of the issue but I'm hoping that doing an even exchange and bringing home a new one will fix the issue. The issue I seemed to be experiencing was that the soundbar was having problems playing high pitched tones specifically from the menus on both the Switch and the PS4. So, for example, the key tones whilst navigating the menus on both systems would play a distorted tone from what it actually should bne playing. Yet when I would scroll across on the menus to get a bunch of tones all at once it would play them just fine. Meaning if it was a continuous stream of data being sent to it, it would be okay. Something akin to watching TV or listening to a song would work just fine. So I'm guessing that the soundbar was having problems picking up very fast short loud pitches and I'm hoping that it was just this particular unit that i recieved and that it isn't some actual issue with this soundbar. If it is then I'll just get a different kind but I was really hoping this one would fit my needs. If you're looking for a soundbar for your home theater then look no further, the quality was great but it failed to meet my expectations. If you're looking to get every single bit of sound detail out of your piece of hardware then I can't quite say this will meet your particular needs because from my point of view it has problems picking up smaller sounds that in actuality are very loud and obnoxious to the human ear. I guess the hardware has problems processing a fast button tone. Or I was just unlucky and recieved a faulty one.

    Ok sound, remote needs improving

    I never knew what a sound bar was used for, but when I saw them on sale for Black Friday at B.B. I decided to read the reviews and see what others had to say about them. I finally decided to buy two for our two TVs to help improve our listening of all shows and movies. I bought this LG and the other was a Samsung that was $20 more. What is missing on this LG bar is a digital readout screen that the Samsung has, which lets you see what changes you are making with the remote, such as volume level. With the LG bar, I can not tell what mode I’m in or get any indication that the remote is working except when I turn up the volume up enough to hear a change. Despite the sound being Ok, I think having a readout window showing the modes the sound bar is in, is a helpful feature when making adjustments and would recommend looking for that feature when selection a sound bar.

    After reading the reviews and ratings, I thought it foolish to pass up the great savings at the sale price. It was easy to set up, but I have been having problems with the product. I bought an LG tv prior to buying this LG sound bar and thought it should be a great match. However, often after pausing the tv, the sound did not start until seconds later after the program began. I also noticed an occasional lag, as if the sound track did not match the show, as if I were watching a foreign movie. I had also hoped that I could marry up the remote with the direct tv remote, as I had done with the tv, however that didn’t happen. So now the number of remotes to keep nearby continues to grow. So, I’m somewhat disappointed in the functionality but somewhat satisfied with the quality of sound. I DO like the sound quality. Everything is very clear and the quality of sound is much better than that of the tv alone.

    Bluetooth Auto-connect, audio sync problems

    We had some trouble at first with the system auto-connecting (without any authorization) to my wife's iPhone. That appears to have been solved by turning off the feature, but now to connect to a mobile device we have to turn the feature back on, then back of again after, or it will interrupt the TV audio in the middle of a show. Very annoying. We also had some trouble with audio sync with our Roku Ultra. Although to be fair, it may be the Roku that's the source of that problem. I'll find settings that fix the issue, then the next day the audio is out of sync again. Other than those very annoying issues, the sound bar produces great sound. Much better audio experience than the native speakers on flat screen TV's.

    It’s just “average”

    I very rarely regret a Best Buy purchase after researching and working with customer service reps, but this product is one of the few. It’s not bad, it’s not great, it’s just “eh” If you want something cheap that is better than standard TV audio but don’t want to break the bank, than this product is perfect for you. If you are a more geeky guy like me who usually spends more on tech gear, this will disappoint. Sound quality is not as pure as expected. And the volume levels are to sporadic. There’s to much space between each level and never feels “just right” My advice- if you care about sound or like to watch movies or game, pony up and get better. If you just want to check a box for cheap, this is perfect.

    Good for a smaller room

    This sounds fine in a smaller room but you'll really be disappointed if you use this in a room with more than 250 SQFT. It just doesn't have the power to provide clean and clear sound in a larger room. The subwoofer is very powerful and sounds really good but the soundbar is where the problem is. It just can't seem to get the audio levels right. If you turn it up enough to clearly hear voices you'll be blown away by the music or sounds of action. It was on sale and sounds fine when moved to a smaller room, so it's not terrible. Just be aware you're going to be disappointed if you have a larger room.

    Great sound, blue tooth unreliable

    Purchased this late November of 2018. Initially was very pleased, easy to hook up, sound was good, pleased that I could easily connect blue tooth to listen to music. In January 2019, blue tooth began disconnecting repeatedly. Stuck at home and not driving for 2 months due to foot surgery, I contacted LG Customer Service. They required that it be returned for repairs, suggested it should take 7 to 10 days, and send a FedEx label. Repair took nearly 1 month and unit still has the same problem. On calling again, the only option offered is to return again for repair. Unacceptable!

    Okay for Basic SoundBar

    I have a LG 4K TV. I went in and due to size restrictions, I did not need an elaborate Soundbar however due to native sound in my TV needed something for living room. There was only the product on display and one of the reps retrieved a packaged one from the back and it the subwoofer does not work properly and sometimes produces a loud "scratch" sound during feedback when watching television. make sure if they bring one out to you ask for another and take the second one home if you do decide on this product

    There is a problem with the Bluetooth == set up to my new lg 65 inch 4k tv The soundbar worked fine for 3 hours than noticed it was picking up other t v programs in my apt bldg. Called LG THEY SAID TO TURN OFF THE BLUETOOTH SIGNAL I DID THAT AGAIN OK FOR 2 HOURS THAN IT REVERTED BACK TO PICKING UP T V VOICES FROM OTHER TVS IN MY BLDG==BROUGHT BACK TO BEST BUY GOT REFUND PURCHASED SAMSUNG SOUND BAR $279.00 WHICH WORKS EXECELLENT GREAT SOUND AND SUB-WOOFER AND NO MORE INTERFERENCE FROM OTHER TVS IN MY BLDG

    Good sound quality, fatal remote control omission

    This sound bar will give you good sound. However LG made one really boneheaded mistake. This device will not allow you to control it with a universal remote. My previous sound bar allowed it. And pretty much any home theater system of TV allows you to connect to a universal remote. To use this sound bar you're gonna have to have 2 remote controls handy all the time. Not a wise decision by LG to not include this basic functionality.

    This system had good sound quality but doesn’t go nearly loud enough. Plus there’s no display indicating levels of anything, just a light that’s green or red and blinks in acknowledgement. Another annoyance was the subwoofer, with it’s own power source, has a light that constantly blinks red looking for a bluetooth connection to the soundbar, even when the soundbar is off. Between the weak volume and lack of any level or mode display, I returned it.

    Great, but more is needed.

    Purchased for my dad who is a bass guy. Putting it together was ok. Instructions were not all that great, so if you are decent at tech, it will be a quick set up for you. Sound is great, but only on cinema mode. ARS and the regular mode are not great. Keep it on cinema. The biggest thing for me were the inputs. There's only Bluetooth and optical inputs. NO aux, NO coax, NO HDMI in/out, and NO L/R channels. If you can live with that, it's great. 3.5/5 stars

    I bought this because my husband and I sometimes have trouble hearing parts of the conversation between characters in movies. We put the subwoofer between our chairs. It seems to have an echo and distorts the sound so much that we don’t turn it on much anymore. There was no instruction book that came with it, so it could be that we just don’t know how to properly adjust it. It needed to have instructions included. For us it is basically useless and a waste of money.

    Good sound but controls are confusing.

    With no feedback this unit is hard to control. Is the volume up or down? Is bass boost active or inactive? Is the unit in cinema mode or not? Get my point. There is no way to determine how the unit is set up or what is happening. You just have to play with all the controls until it sounds right which can take a while. Not my best decision to buy or keep this unit. An app to control the unit would be nice.

    Great sound but no mount

    Love the sound. Easy install and improves my LG TV experience. I want to mount it to the wall, but because the mount holes are in the bottom and brackets do not come with this model, but do with other models, I cannot use a generic mount. Can not locate the brackets on LGs web site. Seems odd they have not come up with a solution. I need to mount this, but if I can’t locate a solution I will have to return it. Sad.

    A great sound bar for the price I paid on Black Friday. But ease of use can get complicated. First the sound lagged, which was fixable going into my TVs setting and changing the digital output settings. And another time the audio would just cut in and out a lot, which according to some research online might have been caused by Bluetooth interference?

    The first I'd give five stars but two to the second so the product gets 3 out of 5 overall. One of the units has difficulty at startup. They both have limited sound options and product decent sound. For the price point they are good options. Don't get the rocket fish soundbard mount unless you are ok with the units pointing down. You need the LG mounts.

    Good, solid soundbar

    This LG soundbar was purchased to use with a new 65” LG TV. It was installed under the TV on the wall. I had to really search the internet for a bracket for this soundbar since the attachment screws go under the bottom of the unit and not on the back like most soundbars. The sound quality is good not great. Buy it when it’s on sale only.

    Full disclosure: have not tried the item yet, as it's a gift. I'm writing a review because it was ordered as a gift, but arrived in factory packaging. I would have really appreciated an alert about that, so I could decide to have it routed to another location or something. So much for surprises. Whomp Whomp

    My old soundbar sounded better

    Purchased this as an upgrade to my 38" 2.1 Vizio sound-bar. The bass not he LG is kind of flat. I unplugged the subwoofer just to make sure it was working, (the bass went away until I plugged it back in) and it definitely is working. It sounds much better than the TV speakers, but I am a bit underwhelmed.
