    Good replacement for my older LG micrwowave

    I had an older LG, about 6 years old, at that time their top of the line over the range microwave, with the pretty blue interior. It worked well (after the first was replaced because of a bad part after 10 or so months) but I needed to replace it when I started changing the rest of the appliances in my kitchen over to stainless steel. This one won after all my research because I knew my LG had been rock solid, and I loved the extendavent technology. The thing I lost was my old one had multi movement on the tray - not just rotating in a circle, but it also moved side to side in the microwave, the entire tray had a two way movement. But I'm not seeing any loss with my cooked food in here. It looks good, but seems a waste of space for things to the right of the door handle. I would've preferred the door be the entire front surface then if they weren't going to use that for anything. I have mine vented outside, and the top position vent works well with this. I just wish the standard microwave use, not just the vent from the stove beneath, used that. But that's not a particular issue here, it's just how all have been so far that I've ever owned. I like that you can enable or disable the clock, and I also like that the clock is considerably subdued compared to the Samsung stove I have underneath it, which is insanely bright when the room is dark. Enough that it becomes its own nightlight. This one is far less obnoxious than that. The various things I've cooked in it so far turned out fine, but I'm a pretty simple single father, so I don't use the microwave for much beyond steaming veggies and such, so I haven't played with the sensor technology at all, as everything I do is timed. I only have two complaints about this, neither big enough to knock a star off - first, the window in the door is useless - with my old one, I could see what was cooking through it. This one, you can see what would be on top of the rack if you cook something on it. The tray is below the viewable area of the window. The second complaint is that the buttons are not nearly as easy to use as my old one. I often have to press multiple times to get something to register. I never had that issue on the old one, so these take a LOT more force to press. But on the plus side, I like the "add time" feature. Fan is INSANELY quiet compared to my previous LG model, the HIGH on this one (turbo actually) is about as loud as the LOW was on the old one. The lower settings here are nearly silent. Amazing.. Extendavent works great as well, you can SEE the difference. For me, it's a huge plus since I generally only have one thing going on the stove at any given time, and it's invariably on the front right burner, so the old LG microwave never was able to get anything from it. I even now move my dehydrator on the stove top now so I can vent that when I make jerky. All in all, I'm very happy with this unit.

    Terrible LG Customer Service!

    I purchased my LG microwave less then a year ago. I love the black stainless and the way it functions. The small latch on the inside door broke, making it impossible to use it. I phoned LG immediately. Thanksgiving was the following week and I needed my microwave repaired ASAP. I spoke with people in their Customer Service dept. who were not located in this country and I believe didn't really understand 50% of what I was saying. I requested to speak with someone in America. I believe with ALL my followup phone calls I have been on hold a total of 3 hrs. if not more. I had to email pictures, copies of my proof of purchase, etc. They sent a repair service from over 2 hours away from another city. Due to weather conditions, this caused my appointments to be delayed or rescheduled. The repair person was not even sure why LG didn't use a different contractor in my area. I live in Denver, Colorado! Anyway, first he showed up with the wrong part. They then ordered a new door. He returned to put that in the week before Christmas and it was defective and the repairman stated he was going on vacation and I would be lucky to get this fixed by sometime in January!. Called, LG again, explained the contractor situation, they then allowed another contractor in Denver to provide the service. He contacted me the next day and informed me they cannot due the work because the door to replace mine was no longer available to order. I again had to be the one to followup with LG. At no time did they EVER call me to inform me of the status of the repair or lack of parts. They then stated they will put in for my microwave to be replaced and I needed to follow up with Best Buy to insure they got what they needed for this to take place. They will also NOT pay for the new install (It's an over the stove unit) or for the broken one to be removed! This is going to cost me approx.$400.00!! right after Christmas! It is now 12/28/16 and I have spoke with Best Buy regarding if they received the paperwork from LG to replace the unit. They will call me back.....Stay tuned. TERRIBLE LG customer service!

    Great upgrade to my LG LMVM2075SW

    I needed to upgrade my microwave when I got a new stove. Since I went with black and stainless steel on the stove, the white microwave had to go. I've had it for over 8 years now, and it's worked flawlessly for me all this time. I picked the LG's again because I liked the "extenda vent" feature. I almost always am using just a front burner, so much of what I'd want to funnel outside (my microwave vents to the exterior) was missed my the "normal" microwave. I had seen the video tests of this, and liked how much more it would suck up. People talked about the noise of the vent - I'm actually shocked that anyone would think this was loud. The microwave I had prior to my almost 9 year old LG and my 9 year old LG were, on the lowest settings, as loud as this thing on turbo. The noise level for this one for me is about as nonexistent as you can get. The light is alright, but I really wish there were two, one towards each side, to get a better spread of light on the stove underneath. As it is, at least it's not any worse than I had with my old microwave. But I had hoped for an improvement, just didn't get one for that. I also lost part of my "moving food" inside. My old microwave not only rotated, but also slid side to side. This one is strictly rotating. I've not noticed any real difference though as far as getting food cooked goes. I love the look - but the buttons are a bit tougher to press than the old one. Sometimes the light takes a few pushes to get it to "read" the press. I think I'm just still not used to pressing a little harder for these buttons, so I may be "soft fingering" it too much. I'm sure I'll get used to it. Otherwise for cooking, it works well. Again, I don't see any real improvement over what I already had as far as that goes, but my old one was an 1100 watt LG, about the same size, and did a comparable job. The finish is a magnet for fingerprints and hand oil though, I"ll have to find a good cleaner that's safe for stainless use. Will need one anyway for the stove, and the fridge as that's also being replaced with stainless... Someone had commented about how this one, compared to what she had, made it harder to see the back burners or the control panel of her stove. Since I"m over 6' 1", I was concerned with that. But I can stand in front of my stove, and this doesn't block ANYTHING, even the top of the stove's panel. Either she was a basketball player who had to duck when walking into her garage, or the mounting point for the microwave was way lower than it's supposed to be. This had no impact on me at all as far as being able to see the stove. I picked this up on sale, and for the price, I'm very pleased. I love the looks, I like the better air flow with the extendavent, and I love how much quieter the fans are on here.

    I purchased this Microwave only 16 months ago and also purchased extended warranty directly from LG within the first year. Like other people have reported, the extended Vent tray on my microwave cracked because of the heat/poor quality. I called LG premium plan number for extended warranty and they told me that they are not LG and this issue is not covered and I need to contact LG. The extended support was purchased from LG, but its a third party who handles the extended warranty. They will not cover it saying that its a "cosmetic issue". I contacted LG and had a worst customer service experience. After multiple emails and phone calls they opened a ticket and keep assigning ticket to different companies who service LG products. Have spent 2 months talking to LG and different companies and was finally told that the ticket LG opened will not cover repair. Very disappointed by LG product and customer service, will not purchase any LG product again

    Best Microwave Functions on the market

    This is our 3rd LG microwave. We have had them everywhere we have lived! We moved into our new home which had an OLD 700 W Amana over the range microwave. We knew it was a matter of time before it would finally give out. Parts are no longer available for it. It happened, of course, when we had a house full of company for my Mom's Memorial! I read all the reviews before purchasing. The LG microwaves we had in the past were countertop models. We needed an above the range that self vented (that's getting fixed when my husband allows me to remodel the kitchen!!). This model "swings both ways" self vent & external vent! LG has spoiled us with the soften/melt features!! This one "senses" the cook time needed for a lot of items, especially popcorn! No need to select bag size like our countertop model!! LOVE all the Cook button features! Still haven't memorized them, I keep the owners manual handy! The one feature we had on our countertop model that is not on this one is the rounded back. I miss that! We haven't used the metal rack. But, I'm glad we have it for when we might need it. Ez to clean is really nice. Our SS LG fridge is a pain to keep clean. Thought having the controls on the door would be awkward, but, so far so good. Just need a wipe down from fingerprints. Extend a vent is Awesome! & the reason we bought this model! We've had it a month, & are very Happy to have a higher wattage microwave with the all the functions we grew to Love!

    I bought this microwave as part of an LG suite of kitchen appliances. I thought the Black Stainless looked great in the showroom and thankfully it looks really great in my kitchen too. Installation, performed by Best Buy's Geek Squad, was a bit of a bear. This over the range microwave replaced a Whirlpool model and unfortunately none of the drill holes lined up between what the Whirlpool model needed and what the LG model needed. This led to two separate installation appointments and several hours of work. So be prepared if you purchase this to replace a non-LG appliance as it may be a complicated install. With that out of the way, the microwave looks beautiful now that it is installed and works as well as I think any microwave should. I read reviews that praised how quiet the exhaust fan works, but that's not my experience. I think the fan is a bit on the noisy side (no more or less than most others I've heard) but the claim that it's very quiet isn't accurate. Heating/reheating functions well and the microwave is fairly quiet when running just as a microwave and not as an exhaust fan. The turntable has a clever feature below it, small wells all around to catch any spills that may arise when something boils over. There is a wire rack in the middle of the oven cavity, which I probably won't even have much use for but it's easy to pop right out if it's not needed. The touch controls on the front are intuitive and self explanatory. Note that this is not a microwave/convection combination. It's just a microwave.

    Stopped working after 3 months, repair nightmare

    This microwave looks great and worked great for three months when it abruptly died, I mean my wife pressed the start button and it shut off and never turned back on. We called LG who unfortunately outsource their customer support to India. The process to get someone out was not very difficult. The issues began when the repair guy showed up and began our three month journey of not being able to repair it. I spent probably 4 hours on the phone with LG and the repair facility and had my called dropped anytime I asked to speak with someone stateside. LG's repair program was a total nightmare and their repair vendor was absolutely terrible. My wife finally got passed to someone stateside who realized that the vendor had reported that they had fixed the unit on the first try which is funny because it hasn't worked for three months. The stateside agent finally issued a RMA for a exchange, but now almost no one carries it. I'm going to have 60 miles to make the exchange. Its been three months now and I'm just at a loss for words... I may just sell the new one and buy a different brand...

    Needed to get a new micro as part of my remodel and to match my LG range. Thought the extended vent thing was a great idea, but not impressed. Controls at the bottom require a bit more height to see inside, but not a big deal. I personally probably wouldn't buy a model with controls on the bottom like this again. The right side (where normal controls are) is just blank and looks kind of odd. Not a deal breaker though. Pros: - The microwave works and is big - It seems to be average as far as sound - Looks good Cons: - The vent is VERY LOUD and there is very little difference between any of the 4 settings - The extended vent does very little to capture steam from front burners - The vent does not automatically turn on/off when pushing the extended vent out/in. Seems like a no-brainer here to build that feature - No setting for light control (my previous builder grade model had this so my light would automatically come on/off at night. Didn't realize how much i liked having that) Its not a bad micro, just not as impressive as I had hoped. Probably 3.5 stars worthy

    Could be great except for a couple things

    I have had the microwave for a couple months. I installed it myself. A couple minor things on installation. Even if you have a standard opening the template has to be trimmed. Once the templates are taped up, you also find that they are not 100% 1to1 for the proper spacing. I allowed for that but still to make some minor modifications. I had washers, but the top bolts should come with washers so that you can make the holes a little larger. Major nit pick is that the front is all metal except for the face of the extend a vent, the feature I paid extra for, which is cheaply painted plastic. Paint came off exposing white plastic just taking the protective tape off. Very poor. It should be metal or better chromed plastic matching the rest of the finish, especially since it needs to be frequently wiped for cleaning. Every once and a while the bottom half of the display will act up and not display properly until the door is opened and closed. Otherwise the microwave works well, has nice features,. and the extend a vent works great for catching extra vapors coming off the front burners of the stove. I frequently use the sensor cooking.

    This was a replacement for a cheap "builder's " Wirlpool microwave. This LG has 4 speed fan with the lowest working well with little noise. The older Whirlpool's fan sounded like the engine of a 747. The extended fan unit works nicely and definitely grabs all cooking smoke. Only takes a few days to know the controls. The shaded lower window is not an issue for me since the programs are pretty accurate. Holding the unit during installation can be a little tricky since instructions state too much pressure on the under mounted slide out fan can be damaged. Recommend a friend to help. If you are venting through the wall, there are clear instructions how to flip the fan from the top to the rear. A 5 minute job. As in any microwave suggest you check to see if the exhaust lines up with your ductwork. The provided paper template shows this as well as where to install your mounting bracket.

    I hate this microwave

    I purchased for 2 reasons 1- the good reviews here and 2 - we have an LG washer which has held up well. For being a $400 microwave with no other features I am very disappointed. The first one had a faulty door interlock so BB had to bring out a 2nd. It still does not feel very reassuring when one closes the door. The Magnatron is louder than my mom's from the 80's and the plate actually squeaks as it goes around in circles and I cannot ID why. I had a Jenn Air that had Stainless interior. This painted dark interior is depressing next to that. I really wish I had gotten white or stainless again. I don't see the value. The door looks nice from the outside is about the only positive thing i can say about it. I would return it in a heartbeat if I had not spent so much for install and then paying restocking fee I will lose too much money.

      We hate to see you had an issue with the door on your first microwave but are happy to see a replacement was given. With the microwave squeaking, make sure that the tape over the shaft at the bottom has been removed or squeaking sounds will occur. Noise can also occur if a lot of food is being placed on the glass tray , preventing the glass tray from moving smoothly because of the weight. To ensure proper operation, do not place too much food on the turntable at once. ^CP LG

    The microwave itself is awesome. Working great! However, (I'm not sure who's fault it is? LG transfer, Best Buy Warehouse, or delivery guys. The box it arrives in has no damage, so probably not the delivery guys). I received the 1st microwave with the Face mashed in (not smashed, just mashed). I returned it and reordered. The 2nd one arrive. The Back of that one was bent and mashed also. And it had a fairly large dent an upper side in the crease from the top to the side. Having no microwave for another 7 - 10 days was not an option, so... I was able to hide the dent (mostly) and able to reinforce the rear so it would hang on the mounting bracket without fear of it to come crashing down.

    Pretty average microwave

    Purchased and installed in August 2017 so have over 5 months of use. Installed ok. Elected to vent the fan outside so that is a nice feature. But it is just an average microwave. The glass to view inside is rather small once it is installed above the cook top. Another really bad design flaw is the fact that you cannot clean the back of the glass door because of the mesh screen prevents you from wiping the back of the glass. Our previous GE Cafe microwave had the mesh screen between two panes of glass so you could wipe the back of the glass should some food splatter. I have contacted LG about this issue. The customer service spent all of 20 seconds brushing me off on this issue. I was hoping that they had a work around. If any of the other owners/ reviewers have solved this issue, please comment on my review. Thank you.

    Factory Defective Product No Quality Control

    The product was defective(Extremely noisy).I contacted the customer service reps at LG, they were very polite in defending their product, while at the same time implying very strongly that I was wrong regarding my complaint. After two separate phone conversations with the LG reps they agreed to send a repairman. The repairman uninstalled the unit, removed the cover and observed the fan was not bolted down at the factory and was causing all the loud noise, he secured the fan and the problem was solved. I do not have a problem with Best Buy but the customer service people at LG should be more receptive and understanding regarding any complaints about their products and not be so defensive while treating the customer like an idiot in a very polite way of course.

    Solid choice for gourmet kitchen

    We have a Wolf 30" cooktop, one of the higher end brands for stoves and cooktops. With two 18,000 BTU burners, you need a hood or combination microwave/hood with enough fan and vent power. This microwave has that, and saves us from wasting counter space on a traditional microwave. We don't microwave that much, so it isn't worth going overboard on a much more expensive one. I'm not sure they're worth the extra cost. We have a similar Samsung microwave/hood in our other house. It's really good, too. But the light over the stove is blue and not as bright as the LG. The electronics (controls, display) are intuitive and feature packed. I do recommend shopping around for the best appliances, regardless of manufacturer. We have Bosch dishwasher and oven, LG microwave/hood, Wolf cooktop, and Samsung refrigerator. Going with only one manufacturer is bad because most are great at only stoves or dishwashers, but not both.

    We had to quickly replace our range that went out cooking dinner one evening. We bought the LG double oven and decided we should have a matching microwave. We ordered this one without seeing it in store, but we are glad we did. The presets cooked the items we have thus far perfectly - reheated chili, softened butter, baked potato. I love that the buttons are at eye level for me at only 5’2” tall. I like the extended vent as well. My only complaint is that the glass plate sticks out oddly from the front opening and I tend to hit bowls on it as I put them in the microwave. I added some photos to show how it sticks out. Other than that, I am very pleased.

    Only one drawback

    I love the look of the microwave, and the fan which extends over the stove. The fan has several speeds and the under-the -microwave lighting is excellent. I tried the settings for reheating and defrosting and was impressed with the accuracy. I gave it a 4 because the inside is dark and you can’t see what is cooking. The inside light is very dim and combined with the dark interior, it is impossible to look at the food without opening the door. Other than that, the design of the touch panel is convenient, but requires a lot of wiping because the fingerprints show. If they make the interior lighter it would be perfect.

    Only 19 months old and no longer working

    We bought the entire LG black stainless steel line. Double wall oven, over the range microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. After 19 months of use the microwave is completely dead. Everything lights up, microwave turns on. Turntable turns, vent works, and clock is working...it won't heat. According to the manual it is the magnetron. Thank goodness I do have the receipt and the magnetron is warranted for 10 years. I bet LG will make me hire a repairman to tell me its the magnetron which should cost around $150. Very disappointed that this is already broken and it isn't even 2 years old.

    Frustrated with purchase

    Our LG quit working after 5 years, have had trouble with other LG products but decided to go with this one so it matched other LG products in the kitchen. Waited for it to arrive and after installation the vent drawer wouldn't stay shut so went to the store and found the one they had on display wouldn't stay shut either. They ordered a new one, it arrived, I installed the new one and all was fine until this week. After using for 3 weeks it has now quit working. Not sure when we will have a new working microwave. I have purchased a $90 (not LG) countertop microwave so we have something to work with for now, it works fine! Frustrating to have 3 trips to the store, had to do 2 installations and still without a working unit.

    Looks Great, Delivered damaged

    Upon opening this I found the entire bottom corner was smashed in. I had to use pliers and a hammer to get it shaped enough to be able to install it. It made it very difficult, and I really had to rig it up to get it onto the bracket. Make sure your measurements are very precise when hanging this. Other than that the microwave performs fine. Very quiet which I like. I also like that I can turn off the sounds for early morning cooking. The buttons at first seem hard to press, but then I realized you really just have to soft touch them and don't try to mash them. The finish is a bit hard to keep clean. Its says easy clean, but it's deff not. I do like the buttons on the bottom of the door instead of the side. This DOES NOT have one touch cooking, major bummer there.
