A PROTRUDING NIPPLE - too tight thru doorway

I bought this LG fridge in January 2016. It has been quite an improvement over our last fridge. I am a repairman (not refrigerator), so I tend to see what's wrong with things before I see what's right with them. Here's what I see. PROs... -The LED lighting is wonderful, although LG should have designed it with some LEDs on the ceiling of the fridge as well as the ones they put on the sides. This would help light up the backs of the glass shelves, as they are a bit dark, but still okay. -The LEDs in the freezer are a joy. -There's a lot of room in both sections. -It's dead quiet. -No height issues with the fridge door, as other have commented about the door hitting their foot upon opening bit. -I feel the extended warranty is not necessary, but my wife made me get it. Even still, $124.59 was not a bad deal for a renewable 5 year warranty. I almost hope it breaks! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONs... This is going to sound worse than it actually is... -The butter holder is not big enough to hold all our butter products and it's not moveable. -Unlike the fridge door, I can't get the freezer door to close automatically. There is a slight alignment issue that causes the freezer door to have a detent in its smooth open/close swing. This keeps the door from closing automatically, no matter how high I adjust the front legs. -The two front legs are adjustable for height, but they don't go high enough and the right one is positioned right next to a roller, so it's much more difficult to turn with the wrench than the other front leg. -This last thing upsets me. We have an old home. The doorways are tight, so I MADE ABSOLUTE SURE we had enough room to get this fridge into our kitchen with the fridge doors removed as well as my living room door removed. I even discussed this potential issue with the salesperson. She assured me it would fit. I must have checked and rechecked the measurements 10 times, 10 different ways just to be certain. So, the delivery guys show up exactly when they're supposed to. The head guy comes in to my home via the same path I planned the fridge to come through. He immediately says "it won't fit". I said "you're kidding, why?". He said "the nipple for the ice maker's water inlet sticks out an extra inch in the back and it won't clear the doorway... they don't tell ya that in the dimensions". I said "how can that be?". Well he was right, so I spent the next 15 minutes removing doors and clearing a much longer pathway to the kitchen through our porch. IMPORTANT TIP; REMEMBER TO ALLOW FOR ONE ADDITIONAL INCH OF CLEARANCE (FRONT TO BACK) NOT SHOWN ON THE LG DIMENSION SPEC CHART FOR THIS REFRIGERATOR. Even with these small negatives I've mentioned, I think this LG refrigerator will become an old friend very soon. It's the sexiest appliance we own. I will plumb it for the ice maker in the following months and keep this review updated (if it lets me edit it). CONSIDER THIS FRIDGE!

Full disclosure, I bought this refrigerator to replace a 1994 14.5 Cubic ft rental unit fridge so I would probably be impressed with a stryofoam box and some ice. That being said, this refrigerator is everything I wanted and more. First off, it's huge. 24 cu ft is a lot of space. So much space in fact that almost all the food that was in our old fridge that was literally falling out it was so packed in fit in the door of the new fridge. IN. THE. DOOR. The door has very deep shelves that hold a lot of items. You can fit 4 gallons of milk in the top shelf alone! Amazing! The fruit and veggie drawers are a respectable size but the real star of the show is the full width pantry drawer. Its huge and easily holds all the lunch meat, cheese, tortillas and hot dogs you could possibly ever eat before they expire. It keeps all those little things like that organized and together for easy access. The freezer is also very roomy with deep door shelves that easily hold about 3 chickens worth of chicken and 4 lbs of ground beef in just one door shelf alone. It also has an ice maker. It looks nice, but we don't have a water line to hook it up to so I can't comment on its function or quality. It has fancy LED lights in in both the fridge and freezer parts which is amazing. I haven't experienced any of the problems about it being dark like a few others have said. It's actually very well lit and bright, but again, I'm coming from a 1994 unit that barely had any light at all. With all that space inside, it is surprisingly compact on the outside. As I mentioned before, we live in a rental with a fairly tiny alley kitchen and a fairly small spot for a fridge, Any other 24 cu ft fridge would have been way too tall. But this guy is about the same height as a smaller 18 or 20 cu ft unit at just under 68 inches tall. It's whisper quiet which is a far cry from the freight train like sounds the old 1994 model I was running before used to make. Though, now it's almost too quiet at night and I can hear myself think and that's not good for anyone. I also really like the gray color of the sides. Some people are turned off by them apparently, but I like it. I never liked the black sides on a stainless steel fridge. To me it always looked weird, The gray matches well I think. The stainless steel is super nice. I used baby oil on it which is supposed to help prevent smudges and finger prints (thanks internet!) and it seems to be working despite making me question some things and making me feel weird rubbing baby oil on a major kitchen appliance. Overall, for the money it is a great refrigerator with a TON of space and a compact footprint. It feels top of the line even though it's more mid range. It has a ton of space and is very quiet. I am very pleased with every aspect of it.

Consistently excellent cooling in a huge refrig

First, since reviews sometimes get mixed on these sites, I’m reviewing the LG LTCS24223D Black Stainless Steel Refrigerator – 23.8 CU Ft. I’ve had the refrigerator for over two months now and all is well so far. I continue to be impressed by how consistent and exceptional the cooling is in all parts of the unit. I have two thermometers – one in the freezer and the other in the refrigerator compartment. And I move it around to all locations. The freezer is consistently minus 5-10 degrees F regardless of thermometer location including the door shelves. Very impressive. The refrig compartment is 34-36 degrees except in the bottom veg trays where it is 38. This can be regulated to some degree by opening the vents on the top front of those trays. And this is with the refrig set at default settings – 3 for both settings. Note, the setting in the refrigerator compartment controls the compressor and overall how cold things get. Since this refrig circulates air from throughout the unit (freezer to refrig compartment) the freezer setting only controls how often and much air flows from/to it. It is also is important to leave a small amount of space around sides when loading food items, so the air can properly circulate. The stainless steel is beautiful in the kitchen. And the refrigerator compartment is superbly designed and LED lit. HUGE amount of storage space and shelving and trays that allow excellent ability to organize and store food items. The shelves in the door are also huge as you can see from pictures. And the all glass trays and lighting allow easy viewing of everything you put inside. The only criticism I would have is the space in the freezer compartment. I really wish they had robbed a bit of space from the refrigerator compartment for the top freezer – for me it is barely large enough. And with only one shelf, not easy to organize for easy use. But I added a couple of small containers I had lying around and those helped a lot in organized and separating items by class – i.e. frozen veg, meats, etc. Overall I am very pleased with this refrigerator and highly recommend.

We had our old fridge for 26 years. Standard builder grade fridge. Always dreamed of having the water and ice in the door. However, a friend gave us their old side by side for our vacation home. Nice fridge. So glad they did because I hate it. Freezer and fridge seem so small. No more room than our old fridge and they are super expensive! So, our fridge died and because we live in a townhouse, we found we were very limited on choices. Only a few would fit. Though there were side by sides that would fit with ice and water (those things break all the time), when I saw this fridge, I loved it! Pretty stainless, simple beauty and HUGE!!!! Seems like we have twice the space in both the freezer and the fridge and we do have an ice maker! Less things to break on this and much more space! Great lighting and nice drawers. The reason for 4 of 5 stars is we had issues with the door ajar alarm going off constantly. It went off all night the first night. It will drive you crazy. We had Geek Squad come out (we purchased warranty and recommend) and they adjusted the door and it’s been perfect ever since. I really should give 5 stars, but the alarm was annoying and I’ve read many others have the problem. However, it is completely fixed and works perfect now. It is an awesome feature we didn’t know we had until it went off all night. Anyway.....simple, basic, huge, pretty, affordable. I like my fridge more than the super expensive ones we looked at.

Our old fridge decided to die after a bad storm. We have a smaller kitchen and didn't want something that we would have to adjust cabinets. Another thing that was going to be a possible issue, (which we saw in another review), was the water inlet line for the ice machine. Yes, it does stick out an inch. There was a concern of getting the fridge through the door. No worries, The fridge doors are removed when there is limited entry. Might I add that the doors are reversible, Im sure this is possible with most models built now a days. We purchased the white model. The area inside is very spacious. I like that larger containers like 2 liters and or milk have a wide shelf built on the door. Inner shelving is adjustable. Center slide out drawer is a nice addition. There are no handles on this fridge. So, no extra depth. The "handles" are on the top part on the lower door. and underside of freezer door. I quite like this feature. Having LED lighting is nice to have in the fridge section, Its nice that the freezer is lighted the as well. We have had this unit for a little over a month and couldn't be happier. Very quite. Keeps everything nice and cool. Good for those hot days when you want something cold to drink. The shelf inside the freezer is nice to have, Keeps one from over stacking and never seeing an item for a long time. One draw back, The water line for the ice maker was not supplied. I'm sure because of required length. Might as well get a length you can use. Better than having too much or coming up short. So, measure for that as well. FYI As you look at the front of the fridge the water connection is on the bottom left. All in all. we are very happy with this purchase. I would like to add that the delivery guys went above and beyond. We were called the day before. Verified the delivery time. Called the morning of the delivery. Called one hour from delivery. Called when they arrived out front. Very professional. Thanks guys! Yes, they hauled away the old unit. One less thing you have to do. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

    Terrible design; terrible finish

I thought this would be a good product -- I liked the shelf design. But the freezer has never held temperature properly, partly a function of a terrible door seal. When you close the fridge (bottom) door, the freezer door can and will pop open, and doesn't always close tightly. The seal design is deeply flawed. I have had two repair calls: the first was satisfactory in that the design flaws were explained to me and the fix -- rearranging the weighted items on the freezer door shelf and putting an adhesive gel on the gasket -- worked for a while. The second time, the guy took exactly three minutes to declare that the appliance was working properly. When I showed him lots of freezer burned contents, he said the interior freezer temp might be too cold. When I showed him the chronically partially melted popsicles in the door, he said the freezer temp might be too warm. When I asked what I should do, he shrugged and simply kept repeating that the appliance was working properly. I got a freezer thermometer that showed the internal temp, with the indicator set at the recommended level, at 11 degrees. That is not a properly working appliance. I bumped it up one level (next to last lowest temp setting) and that brought the temp down to 4 degrees -- still not the zero that it's supposed to be. If I take it down any further, the fridge stuff will freeze. The popsicles in the door remain partially frozen. I am SO frustrated and tired of not being able to trust the freezer for food storage, and having to throw food away. I did get reimbursed for food spoilage the first time, but since the 2nd service rep reported the thing is working, I can't get reimbursed again so I'm out of luck for all the food I've had to toss. I'll add one more thing...the supposedly smudge proof finish is a joke. I cannot get the finger prints off the door and I have used every recommended method and special stainless steel cleaner available. In short, do not buy this product.

My delivery was painless, the Refrigerator is very clean looking. It is very quiet. I left it on the factory 3 setting and It’s holding out at 30 in the refrigerator part. The temp drops real quick if you hold the door open and The alarm is priceless. The doors need to be aligned.. The freezer is holding at 0. The ice maker makes ice pretty quickly. In just two days it has almost filled the bucket twice.. I keep dumping them until it’s all clear.. it will wake the dead when the ice drops. Maybe because I need to go food shopping.. Both lights are very helpful and bright..wow. Anyway... I have a Complaint! These shelves are pretty flimsy. Mainly the one without the drawer under it. Mine has a crack in the plastic and the glass is popping out on the other side upon delivery. You can not put weight on that shelf. They bend.. I moved it to the middle so I can keep the heavier items on the more supported shelves but the door doesn’t swing freely out of the way to clear the shelf. You would have to move the shelf on the door to do so.. Honestly I’m dreading having to put a Turkey, Pork, Ham or any other large item In this fridge..

LG refrigerators have bad warranty support

I purchased this refrigerator based on these reviews. However, after 45 days the defrost cycle doesn't seem to be working. The main compartment must be blocked from air flow by ice and frost build up inside the evaporator area. The freezer is very cold (-15 degrees F.) but the fresh food compartment is around 50 degrees F. It should be below 40. BestBuy support was nice but said it had been too long and I would have to deal with LG support. BestBuy transferred me to LG support where they asked questions not even relevant to the model I have. After several questions, they suggested I turn the temperature control one level colder and wait a few hours. It had no effect so I called again. After additional questions which were not relevant to the model, they agreed to send a ticket to their scheduling department. They said it would be 3 to 5 days before the scheduling department would get back to me. I'm still waiting to here back. Fortunately for me, I have an old mini refrigerator so I can use that. Perhaps LG should recommend anyone who purchases this refrigerator to have a spare just in case - a warranty service call will likely take several days before they get to you. Based on my experience with LG support, I will not buy any other LG products again. I only hope my other LG products won't need warranty support.

Most cubic feet for a top-freezer unit

It took awhile to get used to having no door handles and just grooves instead which are easier to get dirty. The factory settings for temperature are spot-on. The sound of the unit running is not horrible and does not have a high-pitch fan sound like another brand we tried. But it does make substantial sound. I guess all the modern ones do now since they run more often due to efficiency standards. I actually like the lighting and think it's pretty. It is not too dark to find things as some people have said as long as you have a kitchen light on. The exterior back of the unit is very well made and sturdy. It is solid top to bottom. The butter container is way too small but the shelf-drawer is great and easily stores numerous small packages. The control panel hangs down from the freezer compartment into the middle of the fridge and takes up valuable space of the top shelf unfortunately. That is what I dislike the most. And also the placement of the vents which are hard to keep from being blocked which you must adhere to to make it run properly. We removed the ice maker which we don't need to make more usable space. Overall I like this refrigerator and studied many reviews and specs before settling on this brand and model.

I bought this to replace an older bottom drawer refrigerator that: -- was a bit hard on my aching back using the freezer, and -- developed a slow leak from the bottom left corner. I am glad I made the purchase!! This refrigerator at almost 24 cubit feet has a lot of room in both compartments. Storing and retrieving food is more convenient for me, It runs very quietly, It did take a few hours for the refrigerator compartment to come to a good "chill" temperature, but that is pointed out in the user manual. Once the optimum temperature was reached, it stayed there. I set the temperature level one higher than the default. The freezer compartment dropped to the optimum temperature rather quickly. The black stainless steel door is easy to clean as advertised -- why I chose this over regular stainless steel. The door will not hold a magnet, but the sides will. I knew that going in. The left side of my refrigerator is in an open area and accessible so that's where the calendar resides now. The ice maker works fine and makes nice large ice cubes. Ice dropping and water resupply make a little noise, but less than other refrigerators I have owned. I have noticed that negative reviews basically complained about temperature, lack of magnetic door, or ice maker noise. I have no issues with temperature, know about the door, and can't understand the noise issue since other refrigerators are much louder. Only time will tell about reliability.

This LG refrigerator was the only stainless model that fit the dimensions of my current space. I was very concerned about the height as my space is 68.25 and the height of this is 68.5, but it fit with at least an inch to spare. Even though it takes up around the same footprint as my 20-year old Kenmore (which was still working but an eyesore), there is much more room in the LG. I can see what other reviewers are saying about the LED lights and it would be nice to have them run through the top, but still I can see just fine with the kitchen light on. I kept a couple of the side trays from my old fridge (a side by side) and use them as catch-alls on one of the shelves to store smaller condiments. I do think that stuff in the back of this fridge could get easily "lost." The installers were very nice, though they tried to adjust one side of the fridge to make it level as my floors are slightly uneven, but didn't test it with a level, so it's visibly lopsided (I believe it's an easy fix). Overall, this fridge is absolutely beautiful and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Many of our recent applicance purchases have been made via Best Buy (smooth top stove, above range microwave, washer/ dryer, etc.). We have been very satisfied by the quality of the products, the competitive prices/ financing and more importantly the assistance we've received at the store. Unfortunately our latest experience was great up until our new fridge was delivered. The delivery rep removed the water line to the old fridge before the pipes were clear so a we had to mop up a large amount of water from the floor before installation, no biggie. He then removes the old fridge without putting plywood on the floor which resulted in a significant tear in the floor that was newly installed less than a year ago. Again, "stuff happens', we're not happy about it but it's repairable. We were instructed by reps at Best Buy to contact a 3rd party insurance company who then required us to obtain 2 quotes within 30 days to repair the floor. We obtained one quote from the company who installed the floor originally because we still have some of the new flooring left over from the install, which in turn should save money, time and some of "our" hassle. We are still waiting to hear back from the insurance company. We're hoping the issue will be resolved soon. Unfortunately, in speaking with friends and co-workers, we've heard many stories of how the delivery of these items go bad. We can appreciate the difficult job that the delivery reps have and how much their work contributes to the overall customer experience. We can only hope that they are recognized, appreciated and vetted properly by the company we entrust our business, Best Buy.

First off the front is NOT STAINLESS STEEL whatever it is you cannot stick any magnets to it. The inside looks nice and advanced but it's really small. I had to lower the top shelf just to get my Brita filter in it. Next the led lights you see on the side do not light up the whole refrigerator making it difficult to see whats in the back of the fridge. If you just look into the refrigerator you have no idea what is on the bottom shelf because there is a drawer that slides out and it's full of items so you just can't see the back of the bottom shelf. Next it has an ice cube maker which we don't have connected so it's just taking up space. If you don't have the plumbing already you have to get a plumber to set it up. If the refrigerator is just for 1 or 2 people in the house then it may work for you. We have 3 people and it's smaller then my old refrigerator so it's just not working for us. Also someone on my job just told me their LG refrigerator broke after a year and 8 weeks. Make sure you buy a warranty.

The stainless steel used on the front of this refrigerator is austenitic which means it has a a higher chromium content and nickel is also added which makes it nonmagnetic. We greatly appreciate the feedback and we are sorry the refrigerator did not meet your expectations. ^CP LG

There weren't a lot of refrigerators that would fit into the space we had to work with but this one worked out perfectly. It's beautiful and matches the LG black stainless stove we bought at the same time. We love the no handle feature. The doors have a fantastic tight closure. Hardly get any fingerprints because of the no handle design. The LED lights inside the frig and freezer are super bright. I do keep thermometers in both compartments. At first the freezer was so cold it cracked an ice cube tray when twisted (we didn't hook up the auto ice maker). After turning down one notch it keeps everything at the perfect temperature. It would be nice to have a place to hang a thermometer in the refrigerator. There are not as many adjustable shelves in this model as in our old refrigerator so that could probably be improved upon. It is also very deep so things can be forgotten unless you frequently take some time to do an inventory of what's way in the back. It is super quiet and great looking! We love it and hope it lasts as long as our 20-year-old refrigerator did. I think LG really puts a lot of thought into design and engineering of their products and we now have 4 of their major appliances and are very pleased. We had Maytag before but switched to LG.

I'm very happy with this purchase so far since I've only had it a couple weeks. This is the only style that would fit where my old side by side was as all others were too tall for the opening. I am pleasantly surprised by the roominess inside the fridge and like the deli tray and fruit/vegetable bins plus the door holds much more than I thought it would. I don't keep my milk in door as I prefer it on shelf. I don't think the freezer holds quite as much as as my old one did but that doesn't matter to me since I have a separate freezer. Temps are right on with a couple thermometers I checked them with and it runs very quiet. The doors sound an alarm when opened for more than a minute which is a great feature. I also like the hidden handles better than the ones that are attached to the outside as it presents a nice clean and slick exterior. The one thing to be aware of is the bottom of the door is low and as others have mentioned be careful not to pull it over your toes(After a few times you'll remember). All in all this is an exceptionally nice unit and if it's also repair free for many years I'll know I made the right choice.

We used to have a bigger and more extravagant refrigerator but our new house made it so that we had to "downgrade." This refrigerator is much smaller than your usual fridge, but it doesn't feel that way. There is plenty of room. I thought that not having a water/I've dispenser was going to be a big problem, since we'be always had one... I do not miss it at all. Actually, I'd suggest people don't get one. This fridge has an ice maker (you have to open the door to get to it) and it makes more ice than we can use, even when our big family is over. Our other fridge, with the dispenser (side by side) always got stuck, always let ice go on accident that would melt on my wood floor and leave puddles, and seemed to always run out. It was messy. This one is very clean. We put a water filter ($50) under the kitchen sink, and now we always have access to clean water and it's way faster than that little hose on our side by side could have poured out. All in all I'd says it's a great buy. Good price too. The only thing some might not like is that the freezer doesn't hold a huge amount of food. We don't have that problem at all. It holds all that we have and we have a little room left over.

I have cleaver kids, you know what I mean, when we wanted to get a new fridge The button-freezer where not an option at all, just imagine what would kids do having Popsicles handy? No! We wanted a bigger fridge since our family is growing. My In laws have a French door fridge and they complain about the size of their freezer, so they have an extra freezer to compensate the lack of space. So I well I stared to look for a real spacious fridge for a good price. When I went to the store I saw this LG, I liked the handle was inaccessible for my kids, and whe I opend it I it looked quite big. So I looked it up in the webpage and compare with a French door in the price range and it was a huge top freezer almost same capacity than the French door one. So I got this one, great service, ice cube maker noisy, but I disconected since this not come with a filter (you have to buy it separately) so, not noisy if is not conected to the water. It arrived fast! And looked huge in my house! Almost as big as a French door fridge. Looks nice. Magnets don't hold in the doors, I found that weird. Just in the sides you can use magnets. Overall I like it.

Bought this LG because of the great lighting. Unfortunately when we put food in it we found you couldn't see anything on the bottom shelf. Anything at the back of the shelves is pretty difficult to find the lighting is so poor. The front of the shelves is very well lit. I would not recommend this refrigerator to anyone who has vision difficulties. I would not recommend this refrigerator to anyone because LG was so rude when I asked about this problem. Their advertising does not show this is a problem. Not having handles makes it ideal for a smaller space. It seems to work just fine. Just can't find anything in it unless you bring your own flashlight. LG says that is the way it is. There are other brands out there that will fit smaller spaces that don't need a flashlight as an accessory.

I loved the look of this refrigerator and the interior lights are great. Better than average interior space, too. However, here are my problems: 1) when I shut the refrigerator door, the freezer door pops open. It usually shuts again but not always. 2) the alarm is unrelenting when i’m taking things in or out of the refrigerator but if it’s inadvertently left open a little bit, the alarm does not work. That’s the only reason I wanted an alarm and it doesn’t work. 3) I put a few magnets on the door. When I took them off to wash the door, the paint was rubbed or chipped underneath. Very fragile paint job! I had a Kenmore for 20 years and it worked perfectly for 19 of those years. I don’t think i’ll be keeping this fridge very long at all and I would not buy another LG product.

Picked this fridge up on sale around black Friday as a fridge for the garage. I debated between this and the Insignia, which looks almost identical. I have to think the Insignia may be made by LG but the salseman couldn't verify. Since it was going in the garage, I didnt need anything all that fancy. For the price and size this thing is pretty awesome. Fridge portion is massive with lots of nice storage bins. LED lighting is great All the in door storage is great for drinks, milk etc. Since its in the garage I don't really hear it run, but when near it it seems to run pretty quiet. I haven't hooked up the ice maker yet but it has a nice size bin to keep ice. The only complaint I have is the bins and drawers do feel very plasticy. I am a little worried if one of them was not closed and someone tried to close the door hard they may crack. This is the second LG fridge I've owned and never had issues with the previous, so I'm hoping I won't with this one either. Overall as a second fridge and even as a main fridge I give it 5 stars.
