Works great

Nothing is broken it’s been 2 years that I’ve had this fridge. The only thing is that you can not place magnets on the doors. However, magnets are placed on the side of the fridge which works just fine for where it is placed.

LTerrible compressors, terrible customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased on of these 14 moths ago and it worked fine until it didn't. That's when the nightmare started. The compressor died (I have been told that this is common with LG Fridge). I called LG and they said the compressor was covered by warranty but I had to pay for labor. LG gave me the name of the two authorized service reps in this area. I googled both and each had close to a hundred terrible reviews stating that they take weeks to fix the fridge and charge $500 - $1,000 for labor. I called one and he told me that he had to order the parts and it would take 4 - 6 weeks! So, I am supposed to go 4 - 6 weeks without a fridge? LG Had no answer when I contacted them. I am now in a position where I wait a month for a fridge and pay an arm and a leg to have it fixed "under warranty". I had another repairman look at the fridge and he told me that he sees new LG refrigerators with blown compressors on a regular basis. I am forced to buy a brand new fridge after only 14 months. LG clearly could have a better product and, more importantly, competent authorized repair people! Interestingly enough, I was about to buy new LG washer/Dryer and gas range. That will not happen and I will never buy another LG Product again!

LG Refrigerator, love scanner for diagnosis

So many problems

First off I spent several weeks reading reviews and researching many places. My wife and I choose this model over the French door design and loved the space on the freezer side as well as the door in door. Issues: When it was installed at my home I noticed the light out of the refrigerator side as well as the door alarm beeping 3 times every 30 seconds with door closed. After 26 hrs still not up to temperature 54 degrees and 30 degrees in freezer. No ice yet either but maybe I am helping the temp with the bags of ice I placed in there to help my food from spoiling. I called Best Buy which I also purchased the 5 year plan stated they couldn't help until 24 hrs after delivery call tomorrow which I did and they said sorry again the center is closed on Sunday call LG or geek squad. Geek squad same response as Best Buy and LG setup a service call for 1 week. Best Buy update your systems quicker and why can't geek squad help on Sunday. I had my delivery on Saturday. My suggestion is choose a weekday when Best Buy services are working so someone can help if you have issues. Otherwise plan to buy lots of ice until they reopen like me.

Do Not Buy

I researched for a long time before I bought a refrigerator. We like LG over Samsung, but we would never buy an LG refrigerator again. We purchased it July 10, 2017. Best Buy from Waterloo, IA installed it. We left for the weekend and came home to water all over and our laminate flooring buckled everywhere. It was a problem with a "sharkbite" off the water line going into the water in the door. LG paid us to replace the floor and Best Buy helped with the claim. I was impressed with how easy it was to work with Best Buy and LG on getting money to replace our flooring. I have always noticed the refrigerator makes a lot more noise then it should and we were having issues with it making ice. Little did I know there were more problems to come. On July 7, 2021 the refrigerator quit working. There was a pool of water under the refrigerator when we came home, and everything in the freezer was thawed. My husband started doing research and found out this model had many compressor issues. We are under our five year warranty and currently working with LG to find a certified LG Tech to come look at it, but being in the middle of Iowa there are very few. They put me into contact with AE Factory Service and they are awful to work with. LG is currently trying to find another person to come. In the mean time it is summer and we have no refrigerator for a family of five. I will not be purchasing another LG refrigerator in the future and I am very concerned with the stove/oven, dishwasher, and dryer that we own which are all LG brand...

2 Years in - AVOID, not worth the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this in August of 2018, this week out of nowhere the freezer no longer "freezes" and the fridge part is not cooling anymore. The milk is lukewarm. Does LG use a compressor that other companies don't? What else could the issue be? I wanted to wait some time before posting a review because Day 1 reviews are useless for major appliances. This is my first LG product and can honestly say will most likely be the last. Considering LG has great TVs and a respected brand, I am totally surprised by this failure. 2 years!! Is that how long LG thinks a refrigerator should last? Absolutely unacceptable. My prior fridge before this lasted 10 years without issue. I do have Geek Squad protection plan thankfully so will check with them on repair, should be free labor/parts. LG's warranty is 1 year. Think about that for a second. 1 year for a fridge. Some parts* may be covered but not labor. How long will it take to diagnose? Is it the compressor or something else? How many additional visits are required? Food can't wait. AVOID, not worth the money and scrambling to put food elsewhere. This isn't right.

Bad compressor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We bought this beautiful brand new fridge 3 years ago, and I have loved it! However, 2 weeks ago, it stopped working. The repair man LG sent out (1 1/2 weeks later) said it is the compressor. He also said they have a lot of calls about these compressors. It will be 2 weeks longer before a new one can be acquired and installed. He also said it will likely go out again in another 3 or 4 years and that is why LG gives you a 10 year warranty on the compressor. We won't be buying another refrigerator from LG.

DO NOT BUY!!

I wish I knew before buying this piece of junk. It will cost you money to repair it, miss work and ofcourse all your food goes to waste. Total piece of junk. No more LG products from me, I learned the hard way. Buyer be very AWARE! I would hate for someone else to go through this issue.

Ice Maker Issues

Major issue which we've had service done at least 5 time is our Ice Cube maker either not working or working poorly. We've had several replaced and are now currently working on another replacement service call. Not happy about it. Fortunately purchased the Geek Squad extended warranty or don't know how many hundreds of dollars we would be out by now.

HUGE WASTE OF MONEY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this refrigerator brand new full price. 14 months later to the exact date of purchase, the compressor went out and ruined all my groceries I had just purchased the day before. Call LG and they’ll tell you there’s no LG tech in your area and they'll have you go through a low rated appliance repairmen who’ll charge you $500 in labor but the part is covered. Plus $100 to just come and look at it. So if I get this fixed I’ll have spent over $2200 within 14 months on a fridge that is more than likely going to break again. I’m not the only one who’s has this issue with this fridge either! Don’t fall for going with the covered tech LG recommends, call around and you’ll be told NO ONE will repair LG products or deal with LGs warranty’s. It’s bad enough in my area that retail stores won’t even carry LG or Samsung products. Save yourself the stress and struggle and buy a whirlpool!!!!

Very dissapointmed

At one point the whole unit quit cooling both freezer and refrigerator. We lost hundreds of dollars of frozen and refrigerated food. We had a repair man come and replace the compressor which was the issue. It took him over a week to be able to come look at it. With in one week the unit quit cooling and freezing again. Once again making us throw out hundred dollars of food. Now we can't get a technician for a week. This makes two weeks for us not to be able to keep any type of food that needs refrigeration or freezing.

Don’t buy. Won’t last. Not worth the price you pay

Ruined all the food I just replaced from Hurricane Beryl power outage. Did some research and apparently LG has issues with their compressors and they know about it but won’t recall the product or fix the issue. They are also have a class action lawsuit against them. I will be joining in on that law suit.

Horrible LG Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Turns out the LG compressor is a known problem. Our LG fridge quit working 11 months after purchase. Easy enough to get it repaired, right? I mean it is under warranty and all. Three months later, four visits from the repair firm contracted by LG and three other confirmed appointments missed (wasting a while each time), LG finally ponied up and refunded the purchase price. Of course, they never paid the promised loss of food or for the promised penalty for missed appointments. The law means nothing to them. Only buy LG appliances if you have the funds for a good consumer rights lawyer!

Meh fridge

Ice maker no longer makes ice after 6yrs and ice make stop working. For the price and brand we expected longer life span 10-15 is average. This fridge is 6yrs.

Water line for ice maker freezes up daily
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased this refrigerator in January 2018. Around March 2019 it stopped making ice. After researching this issue, I found that this is a common problem with this type of LG refrigerator. I have verified the water pressure is within acceptable limits per LG recommendations. I have even replaced the water inlet valve, but still the water line to the ice maker continues to freeze up. The only way to keep it working is to use a hair dryer daily to unfreeze the water line. The only other solution is to have the door replaced for $600! We paid a good chunk of change to get this refrigerator and it is unacceptable to have to pay $600 within 2 years of buying it to replace an entire door to fix this problem. Based on the number of other people that have experienced this issue, I'm surprised that LG is not covering the replacement of the door to fix this issue. Outside of this refrigerator, we have been happy with our other LG products (TVs, washer and dryer, dishwasher), but I can say that I will not buy another LG refrigerator if they cannot stand behind their product and resolve this issue!
