Awesome 4k Monitor for my PS4 Pro and Xbox One S

    |
    Posted .

This 4k monitor does work with PS4 Pro and Xbox One S. You have to change a few settings within the LG display menu for it to display in 4K from the HDMI inputs. It takes a couple of seconds to do, then after that its great. Amazing fcolor and details on PS4 Pro and Xbox One S games. Even the 1080p games upscaled to 4K look so much better. It has two HDMI 2.0 inputs which means both inputs will display 4K in 60Hz. This monitor does not have built in speakers but it does have a headphone output jack to hook up external PC speakers which does output the sound from the game consoles using the HDMI inputs. Also its a flicker free monitor. Very happy with this 4K display and can't wait to hook up the Xbox One X (Scorpio) to this monitor in November.

    Great overall 4K option

    |
    Posted .

While shopping for monitors, this was my basic list of needs/wants/likes... Needs: - Solid build that will last 4-5 years - Color accuracy for design - Vibrancy for multimedia/video/gaming - Adjustable height - DisplayPort/HDMI/USB-C vs. VGA/DVI for high quality output Wants: - curved monitor (I liked the idea of a curved multiple monitor setup) - Small bevel for multiple displays - 4K for potential photo/video production needs Likes: - Swivel capability - Sleek look - Thin Profile When looking at a lot of options, I ended up bailing on curved monitors due to this LG display. To get the same specs this offers in a curved version was pushing over $1000 per display. To get everything I needed and most of what I wanted and liked for less than half that, I'm been pretty happy. I do a lot of code/writing work and the ability to Swivel this display vertical is really, really nice when the length of the document is a hindrance on the display and ultimately sealed the deal for me. At 4k, 150% zoom, I can view 125 lines of code at a time! My other 27in display (1920x1080) I can only view 50 lines for comparison. If you're a professional who does a combination of code and design, this really is a perfect option. Oh and the picture is incredible in 4k.. that's just icing after everything else.

Amazing for Xbox One X and PC

This monitor is amazing for the price! Picture quality, refresh rate, color, contrast ratio, and size could not be beat unless going up a couple of hundreds of dollars. I had been reading up on monitors for a while and i was waiting for he 4K 144hz from either Asus or Acer but once i found out they were going to be around $2,000 i decoded that this would be a better fit for now! Everyone should enjoy this monitor! I even plan on buying a second one in he near future so I don’t have to switch inputs between Xbox and PC My only negative to the monitor is that the high refresh rate and expanded color are not set as a default out of the box and require you to adjust it for the Xbox one X to communicate to those settings.

Best 4k monitor for the price

I love this monitor! Ive had it for the past month and have been using it on my 2017 13inch MacBook Pro as an external monitor. At first i thought this monitor was kind of laggy, but i realized this was because it was running at 30hz when i was hooking up my macbook via an USB C to HDMI converted. Once i figured out that I had to use a USB C -> DisplayPort cable, it started runnning in 60hz and it made a HUGE difference! Now the monitor is running great and im in love with it. The colors are really accurate which is important to me because i work with editing phots quite a bit. The extra 4k screen real estate is a huge step up from 1080p, now i will never be able to go back. If you want a very solid monitor for the best price on the market go for this monitor.

    Great Affordable 4k Monitor

This monitor looks amazing. After using it for about 2 weeks I couldn't stand looking at my lcd (second monitor) so I went and picked up another one. It seems they go on sale quite often for $399.99 and for that price you can't really beat it. They're the perfect size, has 2 hdmi, 1 displayport, and a headphone jack in the back. The stock monitor stand that comes with it moves up and down for personal preference with great ease. Default stand also rotates 90 degrees clockwise for vertical viewing. I personally picked up a dual monitor stand as it gives me more desk space on my desk, again, personal preference.

    Awesome Gaming Monitor

This is my 2nd Freesync monitor and the difference between my Samsung and this one is hands down night and day. My display port would not stay connected to the latter, so I used HDMI. When I upgraded to an Alienware computer, I needed an upgraded monitor as well and I am so glad I landed with this one. The colors are amazing. My pics and videos pop like never before. My games run at 60hx at 3840x2160 resolution and have never been faster. There is not one thing I do not enjoy about this LG.

    THE best monitor, hands down

    Posted .

This is hands down the best 4k monitor under $1000 right now. I will say that I am a perfectionist when it comes to displays and am very picky and have tried 3 other monitors over the course of the past 4 weeks that did not satisfy me either due to poor blacks, fuzzy graphics, bland color etc. Finally decided to bite the bullet and just buy this one because of all the positive user/critic reviews and i am so glad I did, it is so worth the price, and immediately I was impressed by the uniformity of the screen - dark blacks, very vivid and pretty colors, great brightness (i only keep mine set at 75 and it is sufficient even in a lit room!! granted I sit about 2 feet from the screen - which is honestly perfect at this size since it is 4k and gaming is very immersive and great this way!). The monitor has tons of ways to adjust settings although it seemed to look perfect right out of the box on the "custom: game" mode. The stand is heavy and sturdy which is awesome, and the tilt/height adjust feature of the screen is super smooth and easy anyways this is THE BEST MONITOR - i've had IPS monitors with the standard 1000:1 ratio and, with this monitor being a little higher at 1300:1, you can DEFINITELY tell it makes a difference because it makes the contrast perfect and colors really pop - you would almost swear that this is "HDR" because that is how good the contrast and color is. get it while its on sale $100 off!!! you will be so happy you did. p.s. the pics I uploaded are with screen set to "custom: game" mode - i left all settings under this mode to default except the brightness which is at I believe 70. so you can tell that it gets sufficiently bright and the colors are amazing.

This monitor far exceeded my expectations. My son uses for games as well, and said he never seen anything as good as this with regard to gaming requirements, and the search for the holy grail of good graphics. It basically has no negatives. Fantastic design and performance. Worth every penny.

    Worst 4K Display Output Quality

    |
    Posted .

The display gives off a 1080p quality of the display. It appears gray in a lot of angles and compared to my 5K iMac, I just don't believe this is even 4K. You can see pixels on all icons and the resolution is just terrible. I've never experienced a "4K" display this bad. I've used it for a secondary monitor for a MacBook and even changed the GPU and calibrated it several ways through the NVIDIA app on my Windows 10 machine. I work in IT and work on computers for a living. I would have returned it, but I waited too long trying different things and now I'm stuck with it. The quality is so bad I even refuse to sell it and let down someone else's expectations.

    Better than U28E590D

I just love this one. It has 1300:1 contrast and you can even play games at lower res which I was not able to on my Samsung E590D was It was getting blurry if I change from 4K. This one has height adjustable stand and also allows monitor rotation to 90dig tilt or say Pivot. It looks so good on the table compared to E590D which looks like a monitor from 2010. Picture quality is way better than 590D and also black level which matters to me. On this monitor black is black which I love and factory calibration is way better and if you can tweak a bit, you will get Samsung quantum dot KS8000 series tv quality on this monitor. You need good picture quality and deep color and barker black. This is the best choice and worth extra 99$ over 590D

    Good, Better, Best Buy

    Posted .

Most well-designed monitor I have owned to date - both mechanically and electronically. I was particularly impressed with the user interface which is 100% mechanical and easily accessible from the front of the panel but not the least bit obtrusive. I expected great graphics and I got them. The colors are fully saturated. The black has an enormous dynamic range. The white is extremely white. There is no overcast hanging over the display such as exists in so many other monitors out there. The stand looked a little awkward at first meeting but you will find it extremely stable and the concave design allows for stuffing things like clocks, wireless speakers and other paraphernalia under the monitor and out of the way. The dual display using the 27 inch diagonal size makes it easy to get what amounts to a four-foot horizontal length on my 6-foot desk top. I have never been so pleased with the freedom to work with multiple screens. I run them at 150% when doing a lot of text work which is a display setting in Windows 10 OS. Make sure you have the 1080 NVIDIA graphics card when running dual displays, You can get by with the 1070 for a single display. Adjusting the height and tilt is a breeze (you just push gently in the direction you want it to go). It even flips easily 90 degrees if you want to work with large portrait displays. Highly recommend this monitor (or two of them).

    Awesome 4K monitor

    |
    Posted .

I had bought an open box, ACER PRedator 27" however coming from a 5K iMac, the 2560x1440 wasn't going to cut it. I checked this monitor out on Best Buy .com and bought it. The text is amazingly clear with 4K it's like night and day difference. Now, the colors look very, very nice. I am no color expert but they look vibrant and realistic, not overblown saturation, right out of the box. The only thing I'm not impressed with is the lack of speakers, it only has a headphone plug, which I didn't notice before buying. However, the monitor is amazing, nice white finish, very elegant looking compared to those gamer monitors. Yes it is 60hz, but it's a fair trade off for the resolution clarity. Definitely recommend checking it out.

    Good monitor for the price

    |
    Posted .

Bought this monitor on closeout for $370. Zero pixel defects, some uniformity issues (not excessive), average IPS glow. The controls, inputs, functionality, fit and finish and appearance are all great. The stand supports height adjustment and pivots vertically, but does not support swivel. The monitor is a great value at this price point if you don't need higher-end features like USB-C or hardware calibration (which in all honesty is generally so poorly implemented on the lower end displays that it's useless). 27" is a good size to achieve "retina-like" crispness at a useful viewing distance (30-36"). It works great in retina mode on my Macbook. Deducting a star for the lower than average warranty (1yr), the useless "gamma" settings (there is no definition of what they mean or do), the lack of an "info" screen detailing the input signal and operating mode, and lack of per-input settings. The "Custom" preset is theoretically tied to the claimed "99% SRGB" and in my opinion is the only usable preset on the monitor. There are many settings that will mess with the calibration for which the descriptions in the manual are worse than useless, including so-called "gamma" settings that have no meangingful definition and multiple "dynamic" settings that mess with contrast and black-level. Calibrating this monitor was a challenge, but it is possible. After lots of experimentation and testing I was able to achieve an adequate but not great calibration that mostly agrees with my color-accurate Dell monitor. Further complicating calibration was the need to use HDMI for my dual display dual PC setup. When using HDMI inputs one must be very careful to select active cables and adapters, otherwise the monitor will operate in crushed YPbBr "TV mode" instead of full-range RGB "monitor mode". This is not a fault of the monitor - it performs identically on both Mac and Windows in this respect and seems to be a quirk of the HDMI spec being geared toward consumer audiovisual applications. Because the monitor does not display input mode information the only way to tell which HDMI encoding was negotiated is to examine the poorly described "HDMI black level" setting which silently changes from "low" (crushed) to "high" (full-range) when using full-range RGB signals. It took far more experimentation to figure this out than it should have because HDMI compatibility features are so poorly documented. Again, this is the fault of HDMI rather than the monitor which apparently faithfully follows the specification.

Pay attention to the model no.

    |
    Posted .

This is the 2017 version with the model no. 27UD69P-W: 27 = display size UD = 2017 69 = no speakers, no USB ports (88 would have these features) P = adjustable height W = white back panel (B would be black) The 2018 version is also available at BestBuy, with the model no. 27UK600-W: 27 = display size UK = 2018 6## = no speakers, no USB ports (8## would have these features) #00 = height not adjustable (#50 would mean adjustable) W = white back panel (B would be black) The only obvious difference between both monitors is, that this version has a stand with adjustable height and the 2018 version does not. However, the 2018 version's display features HDR and a higher max. brightness. So, both monitors have their advantages. I suggest to simply buy whatever is cheaper right now. In the end, these LG monitors are the best 27" 4K (60Hz) monitors you can get for under $500!

    Unbelievable Monitor

    |
    Posted .

I use this monitor for gaming and light work from home use. I will say that this monitor has far exceeded my expectations in every single way. From setting it up to turning it on for the first time, the quality of this monitor is great. It comes with DisplayPort and HDMI cables. Once you open up the packaging, the cables feel very..."Apple-ish". It was very easy to assemble and the stand is quite sturdy. You can only adjust the monitor up and down. Viewing angles are great (being an ISP panel) and I have no dead pixels or light bleeding issues after running numerous tests. For general, everyday use you may want to knock the resolution down to 1440p. Reading text in 4K at this size screen can be a little difficult and may strain the eyes real quickly. 1440p I found to be the sweet spot. Color accuracy out of the box was phenomonal; however I did do a little of my own tweaking to my liking. The panel used in this monitor is an ISP panel (In-Plane Switching). These panels are extremely good for heavy graphics and video editing. Additionally, they're very good if you're more of an "eye candy" sort of gamer looking for color accuracy vs. faster response time. As for gaming - breathtaking. However, you will need quite a beefy computer with some high-end specs to even consider playing at 4K with a respectable framerate. I have a Core i7, 16GB RAM and an nVidia GTX 980 graphics card. I can play games like Destiny 2 and DOOM at 4K with a respectable framerate, but with some settings set down to Medium/Off. Games like Shadow of War I actually had to bump the in-game resolution down to 1440p because my graphics card just couldn't handle it. Overall, if you're an office user or gamer - I would definitely get this monitor. Coming from an old 1080p VA panel monitor to a 4K ISP panel goes beyond the concept of night vs. day. This encourages me to upgrade the rest of my computer to truly tap into the potential of this monitor.

    BEST MONITOR FOR PRICE

    Posted .

I have been doing a lot of research from IPS to TN panels for 4K. You will not find another monitor cheaper than this one with everything you need. So any other IPS panel that's around 350-400 dollars is either 2-3 years old, small screen, bad backlight bleed, with very thick bezels. HP has one but is getting bad reviews and it's the same price. I noticed this model is different from the 27UD68P-W. That's when I jumped the gun and picked one up. This model has a higher contrast at 1300:1 to last years model which was 1000:1. Plus, you can pivot the screen to portrait mode. If you are worried about bad backlight don't worry about this model. It is 100 percent what an IPS panel should like. Nothing that stands out (like a really bad corner). It's very doable. That's the flaw with IPS though. But IPS are the best panels. Bright, accurate colors and most importantly the viewing angles. So go to best buy right now and pick one up. Best monitor on the market for its price...

Terrific monitor for my 2016 MacBook Pro...but...

    |
    Posted .

I picked this up thinking it would be an okay monitor for my 2016 MacBook Pro 15" until I could get the 5K LG Ultrafine. After using this one I have totally forgotten about spending almost a thousand dollars more for the Ultrafine. This monitor is terrific, however there is one vital piece you'll need to make it perfect (for my computer), and Best Buy doesn't sell it. I'm talking about a USB-C to DisplayPort cable. This is a must for the new generation of MacBook Pros because it allows you to run the display at 3840x2160@60Hz. Using the included HDMI cable will limit you to 30Hz on the current MBPs. There are no USB ports on this thing and the speakers aren't so great, but that's not why I bought it; I have studio monitors and USB hubs. I bought this for the display, and it's great. I'm actually going to get another one soon.
