Great big refrigerator with a few flaws

We needed a new refrigerator in a hurry and with a family of five (including three teenagers), it has to be a big one. It replaced a slightly larger LG, which has caused most of my issues with it. Pros: - I really like the door within door for drinks more than I thought I would. - This one feels like it is higher quality than the previous fridge. - In particular, the ice machine and water dispenser on the door are a significant improvement. - Craft ice - did I mention this also makes ice balls that are particularly delightful for bourbon? See pic below. Cons: - The deli drawer is too small and doesn't come out far enough to get to the cheese or lunchmeat way in the back. - I wish it had three produce drawers like the previous LG. - With the door within door, we can store far fewer condiments in the doors than before, so we now have a shelf that is almost all condiments. Overall it works for us and I would recommend it if you need a big honking refrigerator.

So we've had this for a few months now. Purchased to replace essentially the same model, but in Kenmore Elite branding. This new LG version has most of the features we came to love in out old fridge, but not everything. Wasn't sure if the door in door was going to be a useful feature or not, but it turns out we use it quite a bit. It really is nice for grabbing milk or peanut butter/jelly or ketchup or mustard. The other feature I wasn't sure about was the craft ice maker in the freezer drawer. So far we have not had any issues with this as others have mentioned. The ice is pretty nice and last a lot longer than the cubes do. Space and shelf functionality are great. Overall quality of fit and finish are top notch. So really the only gripes are 1.) that because of the door in door, we lost the ability to put a carton of eggs in the door like we used to 2.) There is only one retractable shelf, where is our old one had two 3) the controls for water and ice have to be pushed twice to make a selection. It's more of an annoyance, but about the only "child lock" to prevent accidental touches without actually activating the lock function. All in all it's a great fridge, we just got spoiled by some of the features our old one had that are no longer available.

We have had this fridge for a few weeks and we are very pleased. Our favorite feature is the door-in-door. We keep all of our most used items there for quick access. Our next favorite feature is the large water/ice dispenser. We could not fit many of our water bottles into the water dispenser on our old fridge and it always caused a mess. This fridge can accommodate tall water bottles and pitchers and there is no mess. The ice maker on the door is so compact and it frees up space in the fridge. We are able to keep our fridge neat and organized with ease. The craft ice maker is very cool and my kids love the big ice balls. Overall this is a well designed and spacious fridge.

This LG French door in door refrigerator is huge! The new refrigerator is great and with the door in door it makes getting milk, butter and salad dressing easier to get. It takes about 24 hours to start getting ice but both ice makers work well. The craft ice is slick and it makes the drinks look special. The water has 4, 8, 16 & 32 oz automatic pours that are spot on from my tests. All in all the LG seems to be a good purchase for us.

Purchased this unit from the Best Buy Outlet on January 16, 2022. We are thrilled and beyond satisfied with our purchase. First, we totally appreciate the design. LG really makes in-door water and ice accessible without compromising much needed storage space. I thought I'd miss the gallon depth door shelves from our Samsung but we don't. The convenience and energy cost savings of not having to open the doors to get dispensed water and ice has been a far more rewarding feature. Second: The door in door quick access has proven much more useful than we thought. This is where we keep our milks, juices, butter and condiments including hummus. Takes a minute to get used to, but totally a time saver. Third: The freezer capacity. At first glance I thought the pizza tray was going to be too thin to be useful. On the contrary, this is where I freeze breakfast "meats" and thinks like tortillas and peppers. The top drawer is great for ice creams and breads while the deeper drawer holds vegetables and fruits. The size of this unit is incredible and serves our 6-adult household very well. A minor irritation is that this unit does not have a dip tray for the dispenser. We bought a fabric one from a 3rd party vendor online. Also, the deli drawer does not extend far enough for you to easily see the contents in the rear. This may be due to the fact that the drawer provides a little shelf that can be used while loading, searching or cleaning. The craft ice is cute but we don't get the appeal. I had thought the system would allow you to choose between craft and cubed for the additional bin. We would have opted for the more cubed capacity, especially when entertaining. But alas, these are really minor critiques. Lastly, let me tell you this refrigerator is QUIET. For the first few hours we were concerned that it wasn't even on! I've never been as satisfied with an appliance purchase. This is clearly my most favorite refrigerator!

We had the first crew come and showed me the handle to the freezer was bent. Great attention to also finding a small dent in the bottom of the top left door and ordered them to be delivered which went flawlessly. Second crew came and had the new door and handle changed out without a problem. Now I have a beautiful new fridge in our home. This fridge holds so many items in the doors as well as the inside. The freezer has so many pull out drawers I can't remember which shelf I placed something on. Total experience was awesome!

We have enjoyed the fridge for the past 3 weeks and are very pleased with it. It is extremely quiet. Don’t leave milk in the exterior William panel as the temp isn’t cold enough there. The sphere ice is fun for the kids.

We decided to purchase this LG refrigerator on the recommendation of a Best Buy geek squad technician. We were having difficulties finding a refrigerator online that was available in our area and would fit into the designated space. We though it best to schedule an appointment to have a Best Buy tech to assist with the measurements. This turned out to be a very good decision on our part and we are extremely pleased with this LG French Door-in-Door 29.7 Cu. Ft. Refrigerator.

Don’t like this fancy ice, 24 hours for 3 balls ice, and not able to change for regular ice. New one and doesn’t work, have to wait 6 days for geek squad to come and check what wrong.

Our old refrigerator developed a nasty habit of freezing up at the evaporator port. As a consequence, our kitchen was flooded every other month or so. We had hoped for a white replacement, but there are now few available. We opted for the LG LRFDS3016S and have not looked back. The capacity, 29.7 cu.ft. is excellent for its overall size, but there are some sacrifices… most notably the in-door ice and cold water capacity are less than our old refrigerator. We have never run out of ice cubes, but the cold-water capacity (1-2 cups) is limited. Doors and drawers work smoothly. The middle freezer tray is a bit shallow, but the overall freezer capacity is excellent for our needs. We thought that the “craft ice” was a gimmick until we started using it. The craft ice maker is in the freezer compartment and generates 3 or 6 ice balls per day. The 3 ball/day option gives clearer, longer lasting ice. These slow-melting balls of ice more than make up for the limited cool water capacity in the refrigerator door dispenser. The craft ice dispenser has a convenient on/off switch if you want to use the space occupied by the ice tray for more freezer space. We thought that we would do so until we discovered the “wonders of craft ice”. The door-in-door feature is great! Milk, butter, canned drinks, and frequently used condiments are stored there. We opted for the stainless steel door-in-door (rather than glass) since we don’t want to see into our refrigerator with the door closed (and we make good use of the extra magnet space ;-). We did not enable the ThinQ internet connectivity option. We have never had so much as a casual conversation with our old refrigerator and don’t need an app to facilitate communication. Overall: The available “cold” space is excellent for its footprint. We were surprised by the functionality of the “craft ice” option and use it daily to make up for the limited cold water dispensary capacity. Be sure that your doorways will accommodate the 32” width (without doors attached).

Best refrigerator we have ever owned. All the others pale by comparison. Fit and finish are perfect. So quiet you have put your ear to the side to hear the compressor. Triple threat ice maker with cube and crushed bracketing the water on the door. Craft ice can be programmed for 3 or 6 cubes per day and these mega large round cubes are dropped into a holding tray on the upper floor of the freezer. The fresh food section has adjustable shelves and 3 compartments for whatever you want. Inside, the back wall is stainless steel as opposed to the normal plastic. Steel helps hold the temperature. The door-in-door feature is a home run. Wifi capable using the LG ThinQ app on your phone. LG tech support is as good as it gets. Everything about this product says "quality, versatility, and leading edge thinking".

So I had a very similar 29.7 cu ft fridge from LG and we loved it. Then it died...it was only 6 years old. Very disappointed. One day, we just noticed that it wasn't cooling anymore. Called the fridge repair guy, who said that it was irreparable. He said LG made this "Y" splitter in the back that couldn't be replaced b/c you'd have to take the entire fridge apart and it wouldn't be able to be put back together. So I tell you all of this b/c I was going to buy anything but an LG for that reason. But, right now we have the CoronaVirus thing going on and everything is closed. I can't get anything delivered for 2 weeks, so I found this LG at Best Buy. But I had to pick it up myself. Wow, what a job to move it. It's enormous...had to take all the doors off the house and the fridge. But I'll tell you, this fridge is really something else. They fixed the "Y" spitter in the back so that it's not there anymore. There's also a door-in-a-door, which is a new, surprisingly nice feature. The backlighting inside is like a broadway show...beautiful. Fades up to a full lighting. The water dispenser is faster and easier than the previous LG that we had. There's this really cool ice tray in the freezer that dispenses big, round, 2" balls of ice for cocktails. Apparently balls don't melt as easily as large cubes. This fridge is about as big as you can get before you go commercial. Tons of room so it never feels cramped, which you get used to pretty quickly. You'll go to your friend's houses and their fridge will seem so tiny, with everything squished on top of each other. LG seems to have made the changes they needed to make with this version of this 30 cu ft fridge.

Replaced our old LG with this one for bigger capacity. No problems at all after one month. Most important - nicely quiet. Controls are intuitive and easy to use. Ice crusher does a good job. Love the door-in-door feature; we use it constantly. Also like the addition of a middle tray in the freezer. Great for easy access to things we need to get at frequently, like Popsicles or Hot Pockets. No more digging for them as they migrate to the bottom of the large compartment. The craft ice maker is a novelty that works well, making neat ice balls, but we aren't liquor drinkers and don't need that second ice maker taking up space in the freezer. So the first impression is great overall, but it remains to be seen how the refrigerator performs over time.

My 4 1/2 year old LG French door refrigerator compressor failed. I had just bought alot of frozen meats during the CoVid-19 pandemic. Was a little skeptical until I saw this one for a great sale price at Best Buy. I wanted dual ice makers again. Didn't know too much about the lower craft ice maker. We don't have alot of cocktails at my house. I must say, my husband commented on this refrigerator first, as he was not involved in the decision making for the purchase. It is roomy and I live the door in door aspect. Hope this refrigerator makes it past 5 years.

We upgraded from a side-by-side GE fridge to this LG fridge. It is -large, and has good space distribution. Regarding the particular features we were interested in: Door-in-door: It is a nice feature, but takes some getting used to knowing when to push the button to access the inbetween items. Considered the clear Instaview door but we were glad to have the extra front steel magnet space to hang the junior "artwork". Main ice maker: It has a small compartment so it doesn't hold a large reservoir of ice, which is frustrating if a lot of people want ice at the same time. Craft Ice: This is one of my favorite features. It does make clear ice, but depending on the water quality coming in, it does leave a little residue on the outside of the ice, which I have to rinse a little in water before adding to a beverage, but otherwise the ice is nice, round, and clear. (I live in a city with particularly hard water). Water Dispenser: Didn't realize when we bought it that it had 4 metered volume fills (4 oz, 8 oz, 16 oz, and 32 oz). It comes pretty close to the measurements when filling in a measuring cup to verify. Overall, we have really enjoyed this fridge. The only real issue is the normal ice capacity, otherwise, we have been VERY happy with the unit.
