Good for price point but missleading marketing

To save space I'm replacing a pair of higher end Dell monitors with this model. So in some ways it's a step down. However, the display is nice and it's great having the horizontal space for use for software development in Visual Studio. It does have a few week points. The stand is flimsy and not adjustable. There are only two connections on the back, no USB hub. The back panel is not concealed. So if it is used in an outward facing configuration it will look a bit ugly. This isn't a problem if facing a wall. My biggest complaint is the marketing images of the product are not accurate. They show nearly a bezel-less image being displayed on the box and the images being shown on this site. In actuality on the sides and top there is a 1/2 inch total bezel. So if you put two of these side by side you would be looing at a 1 inch gap. Odds are it was just a graphics artist trying to make it the images look nice.

LG Ultrawide 29" Monitor is AMAZING!

I really recommend this monitor! I was blown away by the beautiful picture and colors! Bought it on sale for $249, and I couldn't ask for more. I'm using it as an external monitor for my MacBook Pro, and everything works perfect. This is my first ultra wide monitor, and I don't think I'd ever go back to 16:9 ratio. Buy it!

Bought this beauty on Black Friday for $190...best monitor I have ever owned. It is honestly almost too wide, but not really! Will want to adjust the settings to your comfort, as prolonged use can be just a little taxing on the eyes. Would buy twice, very pleased with this purchase, would be inclined to use one of these over a dual monitor setup,

    The Real IPS deal-Vivid Colors.

Just to clarify, I bought my model from bestbuy. This model "LG 29UM60-P" and the "LG 29UM68-P" are basically the same model with the only difference being: one has 2 hdmi /1 display port, and the 60P has 1 hdmi /1 Displayport. I believe the 68P is suppose to have a height adjustable stand not just tilt. Bestbuy sells the "LG 29UM60-P" and that's what i bought. This monitor is amazing. The color reproduction is incredible and very good, colors are vivid and blacks are really deep. This is true IPS, very good color reproduction and the viewing angles are on Par with IPS panels. It is 75hz refresh (you have to use nvidia/radeon settings to achieve this, windows wont give you the option). The bezel is very thin. The joystick control with on screen control, is brilliant, why can all manufactures learn from LG?! I wont go back to annoying buttons that confuse the heck out of me with their foolish up/down/left/right button overlay. For its size its very light. I did not test this speakers much so I cant say how good they are since i use a surround sound. The ability to split the screen and/or display two complete different sources at one is incredible. Yes you can use 2 display sources at one and just split the screen ( I can use pc and my Nintendo Switch :) ) If you have a 1080p, this upgrade is still worth it. If you have less than that, don't look further. Don't be fool into buying a 4k LCD/LED for under 32" inches, thats a waste of a screen and over price. Bottom line you wont regret getting this monitor, and you can get the "LG 29UM60-P" for around $200 at bestbuy. To summarize: PROS -Vivid color -True IPS/ amazing viewing angles and color reproduction -Very lightweight -29" incredible coverage, very good for multi tasking, no need of 2 monitors anymore -Incredible thin bezel -Built in Speakers CONS -Wobbles when I type( could very likely be my desk as the it also wobbles xD) -Wish it had 2 hdmi ports instead of 1 display port and 1 HDMI -Even though bezel is thin, there is a 1/2inch display gap ( wish bezel would be on LCD borderline) I would recommend, please buy.

I needed this for work on the fly, I specifically chose this one for size and the display port. First- not related to product itself, but unbeknownst to me, the product had been opened, probably return. It had opened packages in the box and screen protector removed and missing ANY documentation. I needed 2 of these and store inventory both online and on phone said they had 3 in stock- no human picked up the phone for a full 20 minutes before I decided to make the trek, so I got what they had and powered through- Back to the product. You need your own cables if you're not using HDMI (included). The screen is not what most of us are used to. Not a particular issue, but if you like viewing things on a desk top on top of each other you'll be more cramped than a regular screen. This would not be ideal for my particular needs. It also has a CD for installation or go to web and download drivers. I have a laptop with no CD and wifi is spotty, doesn't really matter since it's a work computer and you need admin/IT to allow mods to a govt laptop. The power cord is one of those annoying bricks and those delicate little wires, not nice when you've got a few things on a power strip- they are a peeve of mine. I prefer a heavy cord with ground. I cannot tell you the quality, except when I was in the store. I saw the display monitors side-by-side and this one was blah- something I was willing to overlook for sake of need. I'll be returning this for above reasons. I purchased the DELLs 27" IPS also at Bestbuy, and am really happy. YMMV.

    Spend a little more....

I got this for $179 in December 2017. It's actually a very good price for the monitor so maybe my rating should be more like 3.5 stars. But I ended up returning it and getting the LG 34UM69G (34") for $279 instead. Yes it was $100 more but... 1. The 34" has a stand with adjustable height. The 29" does not, so I would've had to place it on top of a box to be at the right height. 2. The 34" has more inputs (HDMI, DP, USB). The 29" has only HDMI. 3. The 34" screen is bigger, of course! And believe me when I tell you that you can instantly feel the difference. That alone is nearly worth the extra $100 even without the other advantages above. Both monitors come with FreeSync and support only 60Hz and 75Hz. So if you're looking for better refresh rates, this isn't for you. Also, there is some very slight backlight bleed on the corners that is visible only during dark scenes. Also the max resolution for this is 2560 x 1080, so if you're looking for 4K well... you're going to have to spend quite a bit more money. Overall it looks great with text, graphics, and movies. I'm not a 'gamer' so I'll leave it to someone else to give their opinion on how it performs with those. While this 29" monitor wasn't for me at $179, the 34" version is GREAT and a decent bargain at $279. To be honest, I can never imagine myself going back to 16:9 again!!

    Disappointing

I purchased this monitor on March 19th, 2018. By April 26th, I was calling LG to set up a repair. When I bought this monitor, I did not realize it does NOT have built-in speakers. So, I then bought speakers from Amazon that worked perfectly. Within a few days of having the speakers, it appeared they were shot already. So, I asked for a replacement from Amazon. Got the new speakers, plugged them in and immediately the same problem was occurring (super loud, fuzzy static noise). Come to realize, it was the monitor itself that was the problem. LG finally received my unit on May 24th. As of today, they deemed it un-repairable. As for the monitor itself, when I got it home I was disappointed about it not having speakers as I purposely bought it for gaming purposes (and some at-home work use). The widescreen was very tough to get used to as the Xbox doesn't readjust to fit the screen size so everything was squished vertically and pulled horizontally. But, I got used to it and was happy up until the audio issue. Totally happy with Best Buy and LG's customer service center as they are giving me a full refund. I am only giving 2 stars because of the monitor itself - the quality of the picture is great, but just bummed about the whole experience.

Have had this monitor for 6 years and it has been great. I would suggest at this point to get a more updated monitor to keep up with gaming tech.

    Missing PBP function

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Unlike other 29UMXX models, this 29UM60-P model DOES NOT have PBP function. PBP function allows you to view multiple inputs(HDMI/Displayport) simultaneously side by side therefore the Dual Controller feature won't work unless you toggle the inputs. Dual Controller is over-hyped because you will need to run the Dual control software on both(main PC + secondary PC) machines to control the Second system over network. Therefore Dual Controller will not completely replace the KVM switches or your extra keyboard/mouse because you will need it if the Sub-PC is rebooted. If this monitor had the PBP function I would have given 5 stars but it was an oversight on my end. Otherwise its a great product. -3 stars for missing PBP function and not documenting it. I would recommend 29UM68-P. So, pay attention to the model numbers the PBP features.

These monitors are great. I liked it so much I ended up buying a second one a few weeks later. I'm a busy professional and grad student. I found this to be a great setup for making it happen. The monitors act as home base for the MacBook Pro. Love the new setup.

the only thing is its refresh rate if only 75. Its only 15 hertz above a mac book and i think it could be alot better for the average price of 350$ but if you dont mind a low refresh rate get this monitor
