I purchased the showroom Demo LG Soundbar, SN8YG for $323.00 out the door. I thought that since 2020 was a lock down year people didn't get a chance to play around with this one. I was right. Before setting up the soundbar I downloaded the Google Home Assistant app to start setting up the soundbar. I also needed to download the LG Soundbar app. After setting up the soundbar in my living room connected to LG 65" CX OLED TV I feel like I am in a movie theatre. The sound can be booming at times. I am very happy with this soundbar and the price. Regular price of the sound bar is $799.00.

Overall I’m pleased with this soundbar system. For the price, you get a decent value. The system is loud and the bass is powerful. Sometimes the bass is too overpowering and I have to change the settings for certain movies. I can’t quite get the system dialed in where I can set it and forget it but for the most part I’m just being picky on that matter. I bought the satellite speakers for the rear which again for the price is a decent for the price. I bought this system for dobly atmos and it does a decent job. After spending 2k on a tv I couldn’t bring myself to spending 1k on a soundbar. Good entry level to see if dobly atmos is right for you. It’s not the best but it does do a decent job on some scenes and movies to experience what the system is all about. The biggest con I have is the set up. I’m not a fan of Google home but I get it makes it easier for set up. I give it a pass on it. The issue I have had multiple times is the app for the soundbar. FYI to get more detailed settings you must use the app. Well for some reason the soundbar can’t be found on multiple occasions. Eventually after messing around with the app and Google home it finds it again. Really frustrating when I turn on a movie and ready to set surround sound and what not and I can’t because the app doesn’t have the device showing. Again, you can’t beat the price. Good entry level and powerful system. Strong bass and decent dobly atmos. The app gives me issues.

A great Dolby Atmos experience at a great price! While there are many other Atmos sound bars on the market that sound more immersive, this sound bar does a great job for half the price! This is my first Dolby Atmos system and I paired it with the new LG CX 55 OLED; an amazing cinema duo that exceeded my expectations! Please note that Atmos is not active automatically; your devices must support Dolby Atmos and E-ARC and you may need to turn these option on... once everything is set up properly, the sound bar automatically switches to Dolby Atmos when playing Dolby Atmos content.

The SN5YG and SN8YG are almost identical in horizontal dimensions however the mount brackets are not exactly the same, most due to the wider dimensions. The mounting guideline is really useful, and it is nearly impossible to make a mistake and avoid to have to make multiple holes in the drywall. As for sound the quality of speaker is exceptional, and the old TV’s sound (specific DTS:X and optic connection to my TV) will transform it into a movie theater experiece. The connection to google home is very easy and basically shows up and can just be added to your home sound system. Play classical, rock or even more modern music loud and quality is great. I received the SN8YG at a discounted price in exchange for for honest review, and I also used it to replace my refurbished SN5YG.

I’ve had sound bar for over a month now. Sound quality is really good and plenty loud for our large living room. I gave four stars due to ease of set up and having to reset it a couple times due to no sound coming out after turning on TV. I had some problems getting the sound bar connected to Wi-Fi at set up and communicating with the LG app to control settings. Not necessarily blaming the equipment as I was setting of Google Home and connecting it at the same time. Finally got it connected and has been just fine since. Connection to Sony TV has been lost twice for some reason and could honestly be just as much a Sony TV problem as the sound bar. A simple unplug of the unit restores connection and sound begins to work again. I purchased the rear speakers at the time of purchase making it a 5.1.2 system. In closing, I’d purchase again and we are satisfied with the sound and ability to change settings in the LG app. Should really be a 4.5 star.

Easy setup (with lg tv of course) and great sound quality. Purchased the rear speakers to get a true 7.1 dolby atmos sounds amazing would definitely recommend. Sun could have a bit more low range but it has seemed to "warmed up" the longer it's been used

I’ve got an LG OLED 4KTV 65B7A, so it just makes sense to get an LG sound bar. Plug in the sound bar, it starts talking to the TV and set up is done. The sound coming from the sound bar is so much better quality than the sound coming from the TV. There is no comparison. You can understand every word being said on the different TV shows on each cable channel. I went back and bought the rear wireless speakers that go with this 3.1.2 system to complete the 5.1.2. system. Very well worth the extra money. Now, watching movies on Netflix is a whole new experience with theater quality sound.

Bought this Soundbar with my new LG TV. The wireless subwoofer is a nice option and the bar itself works/sounds good and connects easily through your smartphone and to your TV. The sound and bass are good, but not great. When watching movies or TV shows the sound quality and bass are very good, because you don't need it to be extremely loud, but if you want a system that booms straight music, this will fall a little short in my opinion. I like my music loud and thunderous, this at max volume will put out, but won't shake the walls. My older LG version Blu-Ray DVD with the wired sub and speakers has a better loud music sound than this and I paid less for that system.

Was very skeptical at first due to the price. I bought the LG CX and this sound bar was advertised to me for $250 off for a price of $500. The price seemed high at first, but for $500 this thing delivers power like a movie theater! The wireless Subwoofer is very impressive as well, without it, the sound bar would not be complete. “Hey google” functionality is nice. Can also connect to your Apple Music or Spotify, which is amazing. Have not had any problems after a month and a half of use. When comparing to Sony or Yamaha sound systems, this LG blows them out of the water. The advertised $700 is a bit too much, so I recommend buying either on sale, in a bundle, or when BestBuy gives you a good deal for being a Member. P.S. a little trucker setup to get the Subwoofer and Sound-bar to connect. Make sure the subwoofer is turned on first, blinking green, then turn the sound-bar on. They will then connect.

Set up with my LG CX OLED was a breeze. My TV is on a stand, not wall mounted, and after researching, this was the shortest height soundbar I could find, and I am glad to report that it does not block the bottom of the TV! Sound wise, to my untrained ears, this gets very loud, and has a very bassy profile which sounds great to me. I was looking at the SN9YG, but since the room I am in is so small, the SN8YG does the job and then some. Only con is the LG Wifi App. It crashes alot and sometimes doesnt see the soundbar, but theres almost nothing you can do on the app that you cant with the remote. The AI room calibration is awesome, and you really can hear a difference in the sound. In terms of sound modes, I am usually between AI Sound Pro and Movie depending on content. I have this connected via eARC, with my shield tv pro passed through it, and there are no lip sync issues at all, from any of my other sources (ps4 pro, fios cable) Bottom line, at 549, this is a complete steal.

For being a sound bar, this punches way above its class. We have been pleasantly surprised with the performance and the amount of bass that is produced from the subwoofer. The atmos works great and surprises you when you hear it in compatible video. Four stars as it could be better with reproduction of music and connectivity. The music is not terrible but it’s not what I expect coming from it after the quality in tv and movies. Google connectivity is a bit annoying. It took will over an hour of troubleshooting to get it to work properly. Connects to phones pretty well but sometimes it will drop and not work anymore until a reboot. I do hear there are rear speakers but not made anymore and hard to find. I was told the one’s in stock now at Best Buy were compatible but there aren’t. All in all, it’s a great soundbar and I would recommend. Maybe obtain the next version as well as an upgrade!

Previously purchased a Samsung soundbar that never really sounded right. I ended up sending it back and spending an extra hundred bucks to pick up this sound system and I couldn't be happier. The sound is amazing, dobly atmos kicks on automatically while watching supporting content, and the setup was a breeze. I actually own an LG CX and the two work together seamlessly. The soundbar comes packaged with an optical cable but throw that out. Get an HDMI 2.1 cord and use that if you have eARC on your TV. The sound will be much better.

Purchased in tandem with an LG NanoCell 90 Series LED 4K UHD. The height is perfect for the television and does not infringe on the picture space due to the low profile working perfectly with the TV. Sound is perfect for a family room for Wi-Fi connected music, television, or video games, and is easy to switch between Wi-Fi and the sound modes for the television as needed. Setup is quick and simple, taking only a few minutes to complete with no issues that would overwhelm. Overall, would purchase again and would recommend to anyone interested in quality sound at a decent price.

Bought this because I got a new tv and my old sound bar wouldn’t work at that high of quality. To tell the truth, I was about to take it back because I thought I couldn’t do something I wanting to do, and then I cranked it up. Let’s just say I still have it and got it to do what I wanted it to do. I got it on sale so the price was responsible, and it has Atmos, which is freakin awesome. Sounds are great, might get the 2 other speakers that pair with it.

This was easy to set up. We used the digital optical cable that came with it but you can also use HDMI ARC to connect. The phone app connected seamlessly as well. Google assistant was included and everything just worked without issue. The only reason we gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is a mid range sound bar. That said the value we received for the money we spent is excellent!
