I'd also buy the sound bar mount that attaches below the TV. This leaves room on the cabinet below the TV plus raises the bar so when TV is swiveled away from the wall the sound bar goes with it so it doesn't have to be adjusted separately. The sound is greatly enhanced compared with the speakers that come with the TV.

This has been one of my best purchases at Best Buy. A high-quality soundbar with a 75% discount. Originally it costs new about $800 and I bought it for about $200 (open box). I added Best Buy protection for any eventuality.

No firmware update available. Some features are not working such as volume control using cec, power control via cec, etc. System is too new and I would recommend waiting until the new firmware is posted and all the problems fixed. Sound seems okay, but for a 3.1.2 system it really send to be lacking compared to the Vizio m51-h6 I recently had. That system has been recalled it seems like. I will give this system a week to start working correctly or it will likely be returned. For $800 I expected seamless and effortless connection to my LG CX TV

I wanted to upgrade from an outdated but premium 2-channel soundbar (Libratone Diva) with built in woofers to the modern world of eArc, CEC and Atmos for my TCL r635. After much research, the SP8YA seemed to fit the bill. I was already over budget, so I didn't get the back speakers. And maybe that was the downfall – family consensus was that the old sound bar beats this one in base/treble balance and clarity, if not pure boom, and nobody thought the 3.1.2 Atmos added much to the experience in the movies we tried. Made sure to return it before the return window closed. Nothing wrong with it, just wasn't hundreds of dollars better than the old soundbar. Like some other reviewers, I could not set the wifi up through the LG iOS app. The Google Home app added it perfectly, including a software update, and after that, the LG app started working, too!

Have to use cinema or bass blast, the other settings aren’t very loud imo. I hate when you connect to it and it says please wait and then you have to power the bar off then back on for the Bluetooth to connect. Should be able to just update or whatever it’s doing then connect to the phone when it’s done. Super annoying.

NEVER BUY AN OPEN BOX FROM BEST BUY!

Horrible! I ordered an “EXCELLENT” open box and it’s not even in fair condition! I have never had a good open box experience with Best Buy. Can you explain to me how excellent means the sound bar is sticking out of the generic box your shipped it in and it also has no remote control, no instructions…etc….…. Your website says excellent comes with all accessories and usually in its original packaging. The condition of this sound bad is total JUNK.

Since you have had multiple issues with open-box items, you should consider getting a new item that is fresh out of the box instead. You will have all of the accessories and manuals that come with the unit for a better installation experience. ^Jennifer LG

This product terrible. My surround bar started bubbling in less than 7 months. I contacted LG in which it has a year warranty. LG related that my product was an open box item. I bought it brand new. No product should be defective in such time.

I was wanting to upgrade my Samsung sound bar that I’ve had for about 4 years and this is what I got after getting help from one of the workers at the store. This soundbar is able to get super loud and the sound is crisp. The subwoofer is bigger and produces more bass than my older Samsung(which is a cheaper model but still). We really liked this sound bar. It was cool to test out the new Dolby Atmos with the upfiring speakers on this soundbar. Tested it by watching Venom 2, felt like a theater in my bedroom. It’s crazy how loud this was and not turned up near its max. I ended up returning it because the wife couldn’t justify the price. I ended up getting a rear speaker kit for my Samsung, which gives my system more of a surround sound effect, which is what I was ultimately looking for.

This soundbar is amazing, the cripsness of the audio is great, and the bass is adjustable via the app. I love how it is seamless with my lg tv/apple tv, and the dolby atmos is pretty cool for a cheaper setup. Would recomend, however don't place it near a modem/router, it can cause disturbance in the frequency. I look forward to pairing this with the wireless rear speakers LG makes

Wow, these are amazing. I tried the Bose TV speaker, a Sony sound bar, and they couldn't touch these. The base is great. Now to be fair they don't hold a candle to the Klipsch setup I have, but this is a sound bar. And given it's small size, you can't ask for more. It provides a good balance between movies and even crank up the classical music. So honestly spend the little extra and go with these.

    Distracting Status Display. Decent Soundbar

I probably wouldn't have purchased this soundbar had I known the Status Display cannot be turned off. This is really distracting when I am enjoying a movie in a dark room. The soundbar is connected to a C1 OLED TV and is constantly displaying "E-ARC". Even my much cheaper Vizio soundbar automatically turns its indicator off after a few seconds. LG please release a future firmware to completely turn off Status Display! Sound quality is quite decent for the price. Dialog can be easily heard and overall sound is clear. I don't like to mess with sound modes as they tend to sound artificial and lose some details in some way. I just leave the sound mode in the default "Standard". We also cannot change sound mode when Dolby Atmos is active. Bass is strong (and boomy) so I have to dial the sub down by -3 to -6 depending on what I am listening. Bluetooth pairing is very simple in my case. Within seconds my phone is paired with the soundbar and I can start streaming music to it. Music quality is quite good and I hear a lot of details. Wifi setup is also very easy. I downloaded LG Soundbar App and it has no problem discovering the soundbar. The app can completely replace the remote if you prefer controlling everything via the app. The app can also handle "AI Room Calibration" which I haven't tried. Overall this is a decent soundbar at this price point.
