The LG 3.1 Channel SG10TY Soundbar with wireless subwoofer sounds great. Wish it could be a little louder but for a smaller house it should be perfect. The set up is very simple and the wall mount set up is perfect. The speaker is very slim, so it does not stick out much more than the TV itself. One thing I wish they had done was made the power cable longer without that power brick. That power brick really is the only flaw I personally feel exists on this soundbar. Otherwise, the sound quality is great and simple to set up, you will no longer have those other speakers sticking out like 4 inches off the TV that makes it look awful. LG has really done a great job with this soundbar, I hope they see this review and offer an alternative power cable set up. Overall, I am very satisfied with the soundbar. I performed a test of raising the volume as high I could while playing music via Bluetooth from my cellphone and it does have very little distortion, however the bass could not be better unless it wanted my house to rattle like a tin can. Highly recommended as long as you know that the power brick will be in the way.

Best Buy advertised this as an open box of a 2024 product. The item looked like the sg10y but when checking the labels on the item it was actually a similiar model from 2019. Best Buy couldn’t figure that out themselves when the information was clearly printed on the item.

Thin, light, no wires needed to interface, LG WOW

First off, this has a really nice sound to it for it’s size and weight. To get started, you need to install the LG Soundbar Wall kit in order to support wall mounting. The new soundbar itself is very light and thin, weighing in at just under 10 lbs. The subwoofer is connected wirelessly, allowing you to place it anywhere in the room, this way it’s not easily seen. It pairs really well with the LG 65 inch and larger TV’s. While it may work with other model TV’s and LG models, it works best if you’re using current LG model that utilizes the LG “WOW CAST Interface” within the last 3-5 years. This combines the TV sound with the soundbar for an enhanced surround sound feeling from live events to everyday viewing. In addition to this, it removes the need for cables to interface with the TV from the soundbar. There is no noticeable delays in sound, from the soundbar. Overall, it fills the room nicely without overwhelming sound playback. It has a built-in display hidden beneath the main cover of the soundbar and may be easily seen for reading a current status when needed.

Super Thin. Unfortunately, So Is The Sound.

TLDR
I initially paired this with my LG OLED TV. It is impressively thin and looks great on the wall, much different from any of the competition. However, being thin makes for thin, tinny sounding audio and unless you can place the sub in an ideal position, makes for sound only slightly fuller than TV speakers, even with the AI calibration. It quickly went from centerpiece to second fiddle.
SET-UP
LG is transitioning the set-up process for their devices. Originally, all LG soundbars were controlled and configured with the LG soundbar app. Honestly, the app was getting long in the tooth and was long overdue for an update. LG addressed this issue and has since moved their products all under the LG ThinQ umbrella. One app to control a multitude of devices.
There lies the first problem with the SG10TY. I have my OLED, my washing machine, and my S95TR soundbar all set up with the ThinQ app. The app works great. Assuming, LG was continuing their roll-out, especially with a new product launch, I tried to set-up the SG10TY with the ThinQ app. Nope. No go. The app wouldn’t recognize the device.
Turning to the manual, I found the QR code for the LG app and sure enough, it takes you to the old LG soundbar app. Which, once installed, immediately prompts you that it is discontinued, and you need to get the ThinQ app. But you can’t, because you must initially configure the SG10 with the old Soundbar app. Once configured, the app immediately updates the firmware. Unfortunately, as soon as the SG10 restarts after its update, it is no longer recognized by the Soundbar app, forcing you back through the configuration process all over again. Not difficult, but frustrating.
USE
I’ll admit, the SG10 looks great hanging on the wall. It is thin and sleek. Much more elegant looking than my current S95. Roughly 6” tall and sticking out about 1.5” with the included brackets, the SG10 tucks neatly under my OLED. That also raises my first observation. LG claims how the new S10 matches their OLED’s, but even using the thinnest Monoprice wall mount bracket, my OLED sticks out a good 4 inches further than the SG10.
After a firmware update, all settings are managed by the LG ThinQ app. I give LG props for the ThinQ app. They have done a fantastic job designing an app that can coordinate dissimilar items from their extensive product line. From using the AI Room Calibration to fine-tuning the various sound settings, the ThinQ app is intuitive and easy to learn.
I also give LG props for the inclusion of a real, alpha-numeric LED display. Unlike their S95 that has a series of 3 multi-colored LED’s that make no sense what they indicate, the SG10 has a perfectly sized, easy to read display. Excellent!!!! Changes to sound settings, fine-tuning adjustments, etc. are all immediately confirmed via the display. And, because the display is behind the grille cloth, it disappears when not making adjustments.
Kudos to LG for endowing the SG10 with nearly every imaginable option today. If there is a buzzword out there, the SG10 should handle it. Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Bluetooth, eARC, 24bit/96kHz upsampling, HDCP 2.3, 4k Passthrough, Chromecast, Airplay 2, etc. There are so many codecs and formats that are supported, it would be easier to name ones that the SG10 doesn’t support. The list would be much shorter! LG has done an OUTSTANDING job ensuring that the SG10 meets all current and most near-future formats. Its compatibility list is truly impressive, and other manufacturers should take note. This is one product that should not go out of date any time soon.
SOUND QUALITY
I hate to say it, but LG missed the mark on this one, at least in my opinion. That thin and sleek looking soundbar also equates to equally thin and tinny sounding audio. Much like speakers in a TV, there is only so much you can do with a limited amount of space. You can’t defy the laws of physics.
Admittedly, if you can place the included subwoofer in a spot close to the soundbar, you can mitigate the thinness to a point, but that means placing the sub with the TV or close by. With the lack of low frequency response from the small, enclosed speakers, the subwoofer becomes more of a mid-bass driver than a true subwoofer. Even with normal TV or movie dialog, the sub is always active and working in conjunction with the soundbar. Peoples’ voices come out of the soundbar and the sub at the same time.
To be fair, all soundbar / sub combos do this to a certain extent, it is far more pronounced with the SG10. My S95 does this as well, but due to the increased volume inside the soundbar, it relies far less on the sub for normal dialog. Its small drivers can reach much lower frequencies. I have a spot to the right of my TV that I like to place my sub. It is out of the way and unobtrusive. True bass frequencies are omnidirectional. Technically, you can place a sub nearly anywhere. But, because this system relies so heavily on the sub module, it sounds odd in my normal location.
This is something that I don’t notice with my LG S95 soundbar and is definitely not something I experience with my other soundbar and sub combo from the leading “whole home” music streaming system.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There’s no denying that the SG10 soundbar looks great. Its thin, sleek, and very modern. It looks different than most other products on the market, and that is a good thing.
The LG ThinQ app is great. It is easy to learn and easy to use. Even with products from all over LG’s product line, the app remains functional and intuitive. You can tell LG invested a ton of time to making the app appealing and user friendly.
However, in the end, the SG10 just can’t defy the laws of physics. Being only 1.5” deep doesn’t leave room for larger, high excursion drivers. Unfortunately, the SG10 sounds like big TV speakers. That is NOT a good thing. The drivers lack a fullness and robustness that even the “sub” can’t overcome. This system relies too heavily on the sub module to make up for the lack of extension of the soundbar. Because of this, sub placement is critical. No matter where I placed the sub, I could still hear audio coming from 2 different places, not one seamless, cohesive product. No amount of AI room calibration or sound tweaking could eliminate it.

So this is my third LG Soundbar system. I love the LG products, and this one really didn't let me down (just a few nitpicks, that keeps it from being 5 stars, more like 4.5 stars)
So I replaced my existing LG Soundbar with this one, because I wanted the Atmos sound. My original one didn't support Atmos. So after easy unpacking, got to setting this one up. I first simply set it up, on the fireplace mantle to make sure everything worked.
Using my LG 86" NanoCell, it didn't have the full integrated connectivity, but I knew that. I just continued to use the perfectly find HDMI ARC connection. I will be upgrading to an LG OLED probably in 2025, so ready to go there with that advanced connection.
Instantly took the connectivity on the ARC and I didn't have to change anything.
Subwoofer was already paired, and we were off.
I fired up the LG App (that I already had on my phone, so no need to setup an account or anything special).. I was quickly able to add the soundbar, and got it up on WiFi and it did a quick update. We were then able to run the room setup. Our living space isn't overly complicated, and I was able to do it's sound setup and configuration quickly...
Now for some fun. I fired up a few movies and clips that I know utilizes ATMOS sound, and AWESOME. If you don't know ATMOS it is a more inclusive overall sound. I just love that sound comes from the TOP. This still being a soundbar, not perfect, but much better then I had before.
Base is very distinct with the subwoofer, so explosions FEEL good as they sound, and music... nice.
Fired up some of my test music like Greatest Showman, and was able to rock the house. Then did the opening to Deadpool/Wolverine, and just had fun with it. Very clear and crips sound... didn't disappoint.
So the only nitpick is the power brick. I was able to zip tie it to the TV mounting bracket. I understand why it is there, but it will be interesting for some installs on the space it will take, so plan for it.
After all this initial testing, I then got to mounting it to the wall. All the equipment is included, just take a little time to measure, make sure things are level. I did then decide to do the test /setup again in the app, and all good there... and now just enjoying the sound.
So if you are simply using your built in speakers on your TV... spend the money and get some good sound going. You won't be disappointed.

Hands down, the first thing you will notice about this soundbar is the design and look. It is very, very, (very) thin and looks fantastic when installed. Clean. Simple. Sleek. It is different than you are used to, however, on some level I think that is for better or worse, or at the very least, something to consider. I do think you trade a little sound quality for the look.
Install was fairly easy for me, but if this isn’t clear, this is meant to be mounted flat on the wall below your TV. You cannot simply place it on a stand/table below. They give you a template and it is more or less a painless process. It is all designed for a very clean look, and I found that to be the case for me…. almost entirely. The one downside to this approach is you will need somewhere to hide a somewhat large power brick. Just something to note. The sub is just a matter of finding the right spot. All in all, no real issues for me here.
Along those same lines, I found set-up to be rather simple. It took a bit of a runaround, but not much, and once up and running I found the app to be clean, intuitive, and easy to use. I think it is a better app than most in the space.
LG definitely also did a wonderful job making sure this soundbar would not only play nicely with most of the current sound standards, but largely brought everything you would want or expect. Be it connections, codecs, compatibility….they have done well here.
As for sound quality, which is more or less what this is all about, it is a bit difficult for me. I think overall the audio is “good.” That said, I suppose I am a little disappointed. The audio just lacks a certain depth or richness I was hoping for. The sub delivers nice and clean lows, and in conjunction with the soundbar, they do pair fairly well, but I just think the soundbar itself lacks the power or size(?) to drive the volume or sound to a degree I was expecting.
Ultimately, I absolutely love the styling of this soundbar. Installed, it looks the part. Additionally, it is easy to use, and the app is fantastic. That said, it all gets a bit complicated when it comes to how it sounds. As a whole, it still does sound “good,” even if I was perhaps expecting a little more. I think a lot of people will be happy with the audio and never give it a second thought. While some, like me, may be left a bit wanting. I think that is where the choice rests, in what you are truly looking for. Audio? Design? The mix? The overall quality is there, just check your use case, and know what you want going in.

The LG SG10TY soundbar is a marvel of minimalist design and immersive audio, promising to elevate your home theater experience without dominating your living space. Designed to complement LG's sleek OLED evo G series TVs. I have one of these in my second home near the pool and this sound bar does nothing but compliment the television not only in aesthetic design but sound. Now by the pool does not mean outside. It is still enclosed so you still get the full effect of the sound bar. The design, audio performance, features, overall value is quite simply hard to pass up if you are an LG TV owner. The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X technologies, adding a height dimension to the sound and creating a more immersive and cinematic experience. While not a true surround sound setup, the SG10TY's virtual surround sound capabilities do a commendable job of creating a sense of spaciousness and depth. Now I know this for two reasons, it sounds amazing in my home and I got the cops called on me the first two nights it was in my house. I have since had to adjust and account for sound and distance. I think I got it right, because the police have not been back. Setting up the SG10TY is a breeze. The wireless subwoofer connects automatically to the soundbar, and the soundbar itself can be connected to your TV via HDMI or optical cable. I recommend HDMI. I bought a third-party high-end aftermarket HDMI cable so as not to experience any lostness in the audio signal. That's a different review for a different time but at its core even what comes in a box is going to be better. I highly recommend this to anybody with LG TVs. I dare say even any other brand will probably compliment and make it better.

The LG - 3.1 Channel SG10TY Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer, Dolby Atmos and WOW Orchestra is a good soundbar. The product came well packaged which help keeps it from getting damaged during shipping. I was able to unpackaged the items and lay everything out in no time at all. The product comes with an HDMI cable. If you wish to use an optical connection you will need to provide your own optical chord. The LG soundbar app can be installed on your smart device, allowing you to interact with the sound bar. All functions of the sound bar and be performed with the remote, but the app can provide an easier user experience if needed. The sound bar comes with a paper template and mounting hardware. The paper template allows you to mark where the screw holes and mounting hardware will go in mounting your sound bar speaker. Even with its slim profile it can sit on top of a fireplace mantel if needed. The sound quality is OK. It’s not what I expected. The subwoofer sounds OK, but the main sound bar speaker sounds a bit cheap. I was able to adjust the settings and add more bass, mid, and treble to the sound bar. Even with those adjustments it did not sound as good as my previous sound bar. Perhaps the slim design is unable to give that full sound, but I wasn’t all too thrilled with its sound. Overall, it’s a good system, but I wish the sound was a bit better.
