This soundbar is replacing a LG 2.1 soundbar that was purchased in May 2018. Setting up the soundbar was very simple. The subwoofer automatically synced and paired with the soundbar. I tested the sound with the HDMI setup for a week and then I tried the sound with the optical cord. We really couldn’t hear a sound difference, so I chose to stay with the optical cord to free up the HDMI slot for other devices. I really didn’t think there would much of a difference between a 2.1 soundbar and 3.1 soundbar that’s made by the same brand and only a 1-year difference…I was so wrong. The center speaker definitely makes a difference watching TV and movies. My wife also noticed that the sound is clearer and that we don’t have the turn the soundbar up as high as we did on the previous soundbar. The soundbar is connected to a LG TV and the soundbar automatically turns on at the same time as the TV. As of two weeks, I can’t anything to nitpick regarding the soundbar. I like that wireless rear speakers can be added and I will be making that purchase at some point before the end of the year.

The sound quality is amazing and deserves to be recognized. I added this soundbar with my LG OLED TV and could not be more impressed with how amazing the 3.1 soundbar sounds. It is very clear when I watch horror films and the center channel speaker is outstanding. Great job LG.

Bought this soundbar for my TV in the living room and I liked it so much I got one for my TV in the bedroom. 3.1 sound really works well for making dialogue more distinctive. Easy to set up and adjust sound. Bluetooth pairs seamlessly. It even distinguishes the soundbar in the living room from the soundbar in the bedroom on my phone. Bluetooth has great range. Very happy with the purchase.

This is now my 2nd LG soundbar and wubwoofer in the past few years. The quality of their products continues to impress. I picked this up because it was a 3.1 channel soundbar and I had a 2.1 channel. Was curious to see what the difference was. I’m still not exactly sure as they both sound pretty much the same to me, but this has a center channel in the soundbar, and has an option to hook up wireless rear speakers, which are not included and cost about another $100 if you buy the LG recommended ones. Hookup was a breeze. Comes with mounts if you wanna put it on the wall, and includes an optical cable. It does have HDMI input and outputs which is nice. The one feature I really like is that the LED display on the soundbar AUTOMATICALLY dims after using a button. That is nice and was always an issue on my old soundbar having that distraction while watching a movie. I do have an issue where sometimes the sound quality kind of cuts out or dims really low for a quick second or two, but then comes back to normal volume, and will repeat every 5-10 minutes. I also had this on my old LG soundbar as well and only usually during movies so perhaps its my tv or the 4K blu ray player cable or something. Overall excellent soundbar. Well worth it.

Just got this yesterday. Upgraded from a Harmon Kardon soundbar I have had for the last 5 years. Love the 3.1 setup as it makes the dialog much more pronounced which was the drawback I always felt with the Harmon Kardon. I had purchased the Samsung HW-R650/ZA and returned it because the subwoofer was subpar to me. The LG is very adjustable and has great bottom end. Easy to hook up and subwoofer paired immediately. Paired it with bluetooth to my phone and the sound for music is exceptional. Very happy with the purchase. Highly recommended

The setup instructions were fairly clear. This particular TV is not mounted on the wall (brackets and instructions are included for wall mount) so I chose to just set the sound bar on my entertainment cabinet. There are two feet that hold the sound bar off the surface. I didn't see any instructions that referenced them but figured it out. An optical cable was included, appreciate that, so I was able to use the audio optical output on my TV instead of another HDMI port, just had to change the audio output on the TV. The subwoofer connected to the base automatically which helped the overall setup and installation. Initial impression, sound is definitely better, particularly low end with the subwoofer, than the standard flat panel TV speakers although kind of to be expected. Still want to experiment with the tuning options. I would recommend this for sure!

First of all the sound bar was very easy to set up. I love all the options for connection i.e. USB, HDMI and Bluetooth. The sound bar sounds really well with movies and TV but music....My portable speaker for outside ran out batteries and I told my wife to try to play the music through the soundbar. After a few seconds of Bluetooth syncing we had music outside. However, it was pretty distorted and almost unbearable. I will say it was pretty loud so we could hear outside but even with a sub woofer it did not leave me impressed.

got as a xmas present, I have a very large living room and this is plenty loud, bass from sub is more than enough, just make sure you adjust the settings properly and you will be happy with this

I bought this as a Christmas gift before and they loved it . Loud sound , neat and easy to install . Makes movies more enjoyable.

Went and bought this since it seemed like a good deal and reviews were good. I did see some reviews say it was not that loud and thought it was just over exaggerated but I was wrong. I had it maxed and felt like that is what I watch TV at normally so for movies or music it was horrible. You better have a small living room or maybe for a kids bedroom but not great for your main tv experience. I took it back right away and spent an additional $200 for the JBL sound bar and that was definitely worth the extra money. So much bass and so much louder.

Just brought this home today I bought the spk8-s rear speakers as well for a total of $420. 299 for the lg 3.1.. I set it up easily and the soundbar sounds pretty good but the subwoofer even in bass boost mode is about less than half of my 6 year old toshiba subwoofer 2.1 combo that I paid 120 dollars for 6 years ago! I’m so disappointed that I opened all of the contents up just to immediately pack it back up! I’m not expecting excellence at $299 but I am def expecting more than your basic $120 if I was lg I would be embarrassed for selling this at the low price point of $299 on sale.. I think it’s a joke and I’m bummed about wasting my time.. don’t waste your money! Soundbar great.. subwoofer awful

I purchased this back in august for our living room. I dont use that room much so I never noticed the issues until today. The issue is that the subwoofer cuts out randomly. I googled around and foudn that this was a common issue that is attributed to interfearance with bluetooth and wifi. i spent about an hour moving it around the room and observing performance and finally found a spot where it is working (fingers crossed) without issue. It is not particularly a good place in the room but i would rather have it work than be a paper weight. In doing research it appears that this is not an issue that has a solution as many have had their units replaced with no resolution. I would NOT recommend purchasing this soundbar unless there is no other WiFi or Bluetooth in your room.

This is my first time trying something other than Samsung products and I will NEVER be buying LG again. The soundbar consistently disconnects from the subwoofer, typically multiple times during a show or movie. I strongly recommend you look into another company's product. LG only gives a 1 year warranty and even though this issue has been ongoing they want to bill me for repairs. I will just sell this unit and buy another brand.

I have now had this soundbar for a few short months and I can honestly say I am disappointed and wish I would have gone with another manufacture at the same price point. I switched over to LG and paired this sound bar with one of their 4k televisions in my living room. The sound bar likes to play a lot of bass then none. The voices are either very high pitched or very low. I have adjusted the different types of sound profiles and that hasn't worked.It's like the soundbar has a hard time reading the audio coming out of the tv. I am using an hdmi connection made by audioquest. I have tried using the digital optical cord also without any success. I am now stuck with this product and will be looking to switch to another manufacture based off this soundbar and will not be recommending this product to my friends and family. You can get better sound quality at the same price with other competing manufactures

Owned for 3 years now and it's basically broken. Sound continually decreases on its own. Happens watching tv and now playing music, so i have verified its the device and not a faulty hdmi.

Sound bar worked good in the beginning. Lasted about 1yr before having issues with sound cutting in and out. Now once the bar warms up it totally cuts out.

I bought this yesterday and will return it. I have it connected via Bluetooth and the sound is muffled - especially low tone words. I have to watched everything with closed captioning. I tried connecting via HDMI and the ports just don’t work. I physically cannot connect with them - the cords don’t fit in the ports (tried multiple cords that easily work with other devices).
