I got this system for my best friend as a surprise. She lives in Conroe, TX so I have not heard the system myself but she says it is awesome so I'm taking her word for it. If she didn't think it was a good one she would tell me. I have had LG phones, washer/dryer/refrigerator and have been very pleased with all of them.

Bought this as a gift for my son. I was just looking for an affordable stereo system so he could listen to his music in his room. I was blown away by the quality of sound this got. Definitely worth the little I paid for it.

I like this LG system because it's basic like a boom box and has a detailed equalizer capable of providing exceptional sound quality for the price. This LG system functions similar to that of a compact stereo with a pair of over sized dials to adjust volume and equalizer, Wattage is ideal and permits the correct amount of power. The radio and CD player are just fine and easy to operate and program.

This is a capable little system with inputs galore and best of all, boom. The sound can get quite loud with deep resonating bass. The versatile speakers not only hit the bass strong but also produce good overall sound from high to low. It has a basic equalizer with presets instead of self-tuning capability. The presets are categorized by “Sound Effect” and “Region EQ”. The sound effects include pop, classic, rock, jazz, sports and standard. There are also bass blast and bass blast + sound effect settings. Both boost bass significantly, although the bass tends to get a little loose and muddy sounding at higher volumes. The Region EQ optimizes the sound for music from different world regions including Latin America, Middle East, Indonesia, Africa and India. The system is super easy to assemble and start playing immediately. The remote has all the features needed yet is uncomplicated. It will control both the volume on the system and the device streaming via bluetooth. Volume goes beyond the indicator on my phone. My iPhone will reach max volume but the system still has plenty loudness left to crank out. There are numerous inputs for music which include CD, Bluetooth streaming, USB and over the air radio. If anyone wants to go really old school, it even has a set of RCA inputs on the rear. The USB input can browse and navigate folders on the drive. There’s no requirement to place the music on the root of the drive. The system has a companion app called “Music Flow Bluetooth”. In addition to a visual remote, it’s supposed to offer other cool features like a party mode where multiple Bluetooth devices can be connected at once and share music from each phone simultaneously. Sound great and probably would be if the app worked. I should have known better when I saw the one star rating in the app store but I tried it anyhow and, like all the one star reviewers claimed, the app failed to realize I was connected via Bluetooth to the system. I was even streaming music to the system while the app kept insisting I was not connected to the system via Bluetooth. I finally uninstalled the app after it refused to progress beyond the not connected error screen. I’ll try again when the app store rating goes above a single star. However, I'm not very optimistic because LG has not updated the app in over a year despite the repeated complaints of numerous users, some of whom claim they can't properly operate other LG devices more dependent on the app. If you're considering this for the party mode features offered by the app, I'd say steer clear and find something else. Just being honest. From the looks of it, LG doesn't appear to be particularly focused on the app right now. This is not a large system but I’d be a little hesitant to call it a bookshelf system unless you have a pretty large bookshelf. It’s definitely small enough for the top of a large dresser or large desk. I measure it at twenty eight inches wide and nine inches deep with the center and both speakers all lined up and closely together.

TONS of Features, but maybe a little too big

Let me first start off by saying that this system has a TON of features. On the outside, it's a pretty decent looking system. It does stand out with it's very large Volume and Sound Effect Dials that look like jet engines on either side of the main unit. The dials have enough resistance where you can't accidentally turn them. All the buttons are very solid and clicky however the layout of all the controls is odd. They clearly wanted the 2 dials to be as large as physically possible and then kind of crammed the rest of the buttons in the center and inside the 2 dials. It would be much more user friendly and easier to access if the controls were closer to the top of the unit. It does have an LCD screen on the front which shows stuff like volume level, track names, etc... Like I said earlier, it has a ton of features. Starting at the most basic, but often times overlooked in this new age of technology, IT HAS A TUNER! Music streaming services are great and all, but I find it nice to see a tuner. Second, it has a CD player. Yes, I did have to go into my basement to rummage around some boxes to find an old Beastie Boys CD to play, but it's nice to have that capability if you have music laying around that you can't access elsewhere. And I have to say it was fun to check out all my old CDs. You can plug in USB stick or drive to one of the two USB ports on the front of the device and that is super handy to play MP3s, WMA and AAC files. It does also have Bluetooth as well as the LG Music Flow app and then finally, it also comes with an Aux-in. You can control pretty much everything with the included remote and there are some things that you can only do with the remote like setting radio station presets. The Speakers On the outside the speakers are loud, and I'm talking about how they look. They won't exactly blend in with much decor with it's red-colored woofer. One kind of bummer is that the speaker cables are permanently attached to the back of each speaker so if you do need to replace one of them, some splicing will be involved. But how do they sound? Decent. The system can get pretty darn loud and it's quite bass-heavy, however, the bass is so heavy with some tracks (Beastie Boys) that they can easily sound muffled with those types of tracks. However mids and highs were crisp and not ear-piercing. My biggest 2 negatives would be the size and the lack of headphone jack, the latter being a very odd omission. In regards to the size, it's much larger than it really needs to be, however it is light weight (meaning there's plenty of room to reduce the size). Overall, this is a VERY decent system especially for the low price. Design could be better in my opinion, but it offers a ton of features both old and new so this can work for those with legacy audio laying around or even people who rely on music just from their smartphone.
