    Great product!!! Wonderful value!!!

This TV is amazing. The size is perfect for my bedroom. The picture quality is outstanding. For it's size, the human eye cannot tell the difference between 1080p and 720p and it's true. The backlight on this particular LCD is very bright and provides brilliant colors that actually surpassed the SONY Bravia XBR (which suprised me, by the way) when I saw them side by side. Take a trip to the store and see for yourself why this TV is great! However, if you plan on watching this TV from an angle (i.e. in a large room with a chair/couch to the side of the TV, the blacks in the picture tends to fade to a gray, shifting the quality down a notch). But it swivels!!!! =)

    SIMPLY AWSOME

I spent weeks researching HDTVS by both internet and going to stores. I had picked LG right away because through my research it fit all my major needs price and quality on top of less people complaints of things going wrong with them fairly quick. Now i was on my way to the next hurdle. Do i go with a 1080p or a 720p so i had narrowed my choice down to 2. The 37LG30 and 37LG50. Naturally i thought to go with the 37LG50 at first. Then when I was at the store and compared them side by side. The only difference I saw was the price even when they put a blu ray movie on. To play it safe i did a little more research and found out that once you cross over to HD from analog, there is not much more they can improve on. technically a 1080p is better but it is not the resolution that makes the image great, it is the sharpness, contrast, and it's ability to show black. Since i got this TV, i have not looked back and do not regret buying this one. Compare other TVs by both image and price and I'm 99% sure you'll come back to this. And to all of you who don't believe me, i dare you to do some research yourself. Check out consumer reports or cnet reviews. If your on the fence on which is better for you like i was, there is a great artical on cnet compairing 720p and 1080p tvs.

Here's the picture settings that I and most others that I've read are using. Great TV for the Price!

At the $700 level you will have a hard time beating the LG37. At 37" this TV will seem huge in your small apartment or bedroom. 720 vs 1080 is a bit irrelevant with this size of TV. The HD TV programming looks amazing. I have an LG upconvert dvd player so my normal DVDs look amazing as well. The Presets are all pretty terrible. You will need to go into expert mode and calibrate this tv. Do a google search, or better yet, look through these reviews. One user put up some calibration settings and if you use those your viewing experience will dramatically improve. Also, pop in a pixar film like "Walle" and use the menus to adjust your TV...don't pay $200 to have your TV calibrated, there is plenty of info for you online for free. Viewing from "extreme angles" is less than perfect but how often will someone be doing that? We have the TV placed above a fireplace and it is positioned well above our heads (while sitting) and it looks exactly the same as if we were eye level. The Black Levels leave something to be desired. If you are really picky about this you might need to consider the Samsung 37" or one of the many well reviewed 32" options. However, when I was shopping this LG was $100 cheaper than the Samsung and I also have an LG Sound System which syncs up perfectly with LG TVs so that is how I made my decision. The TV sound is not good. The volume levels are so stretched out that you have to hold down the up volume for ever just to turn up the sound slightly which is highly annoying. This TV does not have good sound and if you watch a DVD you will notice this instantly. I have a separate sound system so this aspect of the TV is completely irrelevant to me, but it may not be for you.

    Great Entry Level LCD

Great TV for the price. As most people note, the sound quality is a bit subpar but anyone who spends $700+ on a TV should have at least some type of receiver and speakers to hook it up to. The picture quality is outstanding through Cable HD service and I have it hooked up to a Sony Upconveriting DVD player and it does make my old DVD's look like HD cable service. I still need to purchase HDMI cables for both so that may be even better. I did a lot of research on TV's in this price range and kept coming back to the LG. The specs were better and picture quality was better than the comparable Samsung and Sharp. There are plenty of inputs on the TV also. If anyone is on the fence about this TV, go ahead and pull the trigger on it, you won't be disappointed. For $700, this TV is a great buy. If anyone knows what the optimal expert settings are for this TV, please post. Thanks

This is my first HD flat panel TV. Thus, I didn't know what to expect, nor did I have any experience with the tech. After doing TONS of research, I was down to this and a Samsung. I ultimately went with this one because I found it for about $100 less. Most experts indicate the difference between 720 and 1080 is almost completely unnoticeable. So I went with this 720 because it has a fast response time and a nice contrast ratio. I'm no expert, but it was easy to set up the actual hardware and the picture is lovely, although I finally learned first-hand how sucky HD TVs look up close. Even when watching something in HD. But it's a stunning picture from 5+ feet away. The menus are so detailed and go way beyond my understanding. Which is nice for someone who understands all about this stuff, but to me, it was just overwhelming. Fortunately, there are about seven or so presets that seem to work fairly well for a variety of inputs. Contrary to what some reviews have said, I liked the remote just fine. Yes, the speakers kind of blow. But I understand that's pretty standard for flat panels. Easy audio outputs make it painless to connect to a stereo, though.

    Very good set

    Posted .

I researched different TVs for many weeks trying to find a high quality set in my price range and finally settled on LG and the 37" set. I was somewhat uneasy about some reviews saying the sound on the TV was anywhere from "disappointing" to "awful". However, I have no complaints about the sound at all as it is of a much higher quality than my previous (tube) TV. Some said you have to turn the volume almost to the max to hear well. That could be true for a very large room but for an apt. sized living room I haven't found that to be the case at all. I keep the volume at 30 out of 100 and its quite loud with no distortions. I did notice a loud buzzing or reverberation sound at times but not often and only for brief moments while playing PS3. Gaming looks great by the way, and I don't even have an HDMI cable yet. I've also been quite impressed by this set's performance on standard def. channels, though sports games on standard def. look a little rough. I found putting the stand together to be a pain but that might just be me. I'd definitely recommend this set to someone looking to spend between $700 to $800 and wanting a high quality 37" HDTV.

    Awesome Buy

    Posted .

I bought this LCD last night and it is better than I expected. I think reviewers are right when they say 720p and 1080i are about the same. Definatly save your money with this the quality is worth it. With regular digital cable the picture is not perfect but there are enough settings to adjust that you can get a really good picture out of it and definatly better than a tube tv. The 37' looks much bigger than the 32' and is worth the price. DVD's look awesome even when they are not blu-ray. The only problem I had with set-up was using the stand. The screws were hard to get in place, especially in the back of the tv once the stand is inserted. Most people indicated no problems so mine might be a special case but it took me a while to get them tight enough so the tv wouldn't tip over. I would recommend paying a little extra to have geek squad hook it up. Overall, great picture quality, I liked the sound especially with my speaker system, great features. I am very happy with this buy!

Great LCD tv at a great price

    Posted .

This is my second LCD tv, the first being a 32" Samsung which was my main living room tv. I wanted a larger unit so I went with a 37-incher and must say that the 37LG30 has been superb so far. The unit is sleak and stylish, and was easy to install. I have standard cable and an upconverting DVD player connected with an HDMI cable. Cable shows look good, but the real beauty of this tv is revealed with movies in 720p. The picture is amazing! Sound is ok, but I use a speaker bar/subwoofer unit for everything and it really upgrades the sound. I did not compare this unit with the Samsung LN37A450 (or with my own Samsung LCD for that matter) but I'm sure you can't go wrong with either model. The LG was $150 cheaper at the time of purchase, so price was somewhat of an influence. If you're going to buy an LCD tv and have room for a 37-inch, I definitely recommend it over a 32-inch. The bigger screen size is worth it!

    Awesome LCD......

I bought this LCD for $600. It was a great buy. This LCD is an awesome tv. I have a PS3, Xbox360, and my cable box hooked up to it. The Blurays on my PS3 look freaking awesome, crystal clear picture. I got it hooked up via HDMI. My 360 looks just as beautiful....my games look awesome and it is hooked up via component cables. My cable box is hooked up via HDMI and the HD channels look really clear. Overall this LCD is one of the best on the market today. I did my research before buying one and this was hands down the best one. Not to mention the shiny look is really great. The 3 HDMI's is a plus. The only complain I have would be the sound. I have to put it on 80 to hear it good. In this day and age everyone should have a surround sound anyway. I highly recommend this LCD to anyone looking for a great TV for a great price. Get One. Excuse any typos.

    Great TV for the money

    Posted .

This TV is great for the price. 720p is perfect for this size. 1080p would be a waste of an extra 300 bucks. If you have a small living room like mine, the picture is fantastic. If you have to sit further than 10 or 12 feet, I'd recommend the 42" screen or bigger. Basic cable doesn't look so good on it. Set the picture to 4:3 aspect for a more normal look. Don't be afraid to play with display and sound settings, that's what they're there for. Maybe turn the backlight down to 20 or lower for night time or dark viewing (saves power and TV life a little). Cinema mode is a good starting point. HD gaming systems look amazing, as well as Blu-Ray. This TV weighs several pounds less than my old 26" tube TV. This is a great TV to kick off your HD experience!

    Good TV

We first bought the Sony 37M4000 because there was a Sony rep onsite and they (Best Buy and Sony) "steered" us in that direction. We did not like the Sony because when watching any movie or TV show the nighttime and or darker shots were grainy/pixilated even after many adjustments. We returned it and got the 37LG30. The LG does a much better job on the nighttime and darker shots. There are sooooo many adjustments you can make with the LG but the defaults work fine for us. The sound, as with any TV in the price range, is OK. For the price I am very happy with the LG except for the non HD channels are very poor but all of the channels I watch are HD anyway. (I know higher end TV’s do a better job on non HD channels)

    Great LCD!

I bought this LCD during the Black Friday weekend, and picked it up for a steal!...649! couldnt believe it!, but set it up and looks great! The LCD is hooked up to my Att Uverse and there is no need for 1080, this 720 set is perfect. Great detail, and the football games look great on it. I agree the sound is not the best, but I am running my surround setup through it. I did my research, and compared this LCD to toshiba, sharp, and the LG was unbeatable for the price. I would of gone bigger, but this 37 fit so tight in my curio cabinet. Thats the problem when you go from Tube to LCD, but I tell you this 37 was perfect. Highly recommend it!

Great bang for your buck, but...

I bought this product on sale at Best Buy in East Palo Alto. The people were great and patient. We had researched the product extensively on the web and knew about all the terms. The salesman seemed a little surprised and had to refer back to their own website to confirm what we were talking about, but he had a sense of humour about it. Our main complaint is that we are going to have to switch out for another one because ours has an ill fitting power cord. It fits really loose and if some one even taps the cord the tv shuts off. I haven't seen any other complaints regarding this so I am going to assume it is a one off.

    fantastic picture

This tv has an execellent picture.I prefer it to the sony tvs which seem to have a darker picture no matter how you set them. For those who have complained about the sound not being up to par understand that if you are using the HDMI cable for the sound you will find that the sound will be low enough that you may have to turn up the volume to 100 to get enough sound. If however you use componet 1 you will find all the sound you need.If you are going to use HDMI you may want an external speaker system to get decent sound. The sounds there in the tv but just dosent come out thru the HDMI.

    Great HDTV

    Posted .

I have had this TV for 2 months now and I've had no problems. Plug in a computer, DVD player, Cable, or whatever and it goes right in to setup mode for that addition. Took about 10-15 minutes to search all my Cable channels when first setting it up. Then I had to go and remove manually the channels that didn't come in well. It would have been nice to have channel labels to personalize a bit more. Takes a little to get use to the menu system, but then it's all good. This was my first HDTV purchase so I made sure to get the service plan with it.

    Worth every bit

This TV is fantastic. It took me less than half an hour to put together and has been very very enjoyable. The features are easy to use and it is very easy to figure out different inputs and such. It is sleek and classy and I would highly recommend it for a narrow living room... it almost seems bigger than 37 inches. It fits very well into a common car and so you don't have to pay for shipping too!! I'd say if you were looking for a decent TV that isn't obnoxiously big for your smaller space this is a must buy!

This is my first flat screen tv, I love it, I have freind's that have more expensive tv's and this one has a better picture and has more uses and inputs then there tv's. Easy hook up.Easy use.I did a lot of back ground checking and reviews and this is the best choice in my opinion!! The simplink feature is a pain, it was better just to turn it off. The sound is a little under powered but I had got a home theater system to cover that. For the most part this is a tv I would definitely recommend.

    First Flat Panel TV

    Posted .

I have been doing my research for about a year on TV's now and have come to make my choice on the LG. This is my first Flat Panel TV. I replaced my old 27'' Sanyo Tube with this and i couldn't be happier. I have my Surround Sound Reciever and Xbox 360 Hooked up to it and it all works flawlessly with no problems with setup. I actually look forward to going home just to play on Xbox Live with all my friends. If your looking in the 32''-37'' Range, I definately recommend this TV.
