I purchased this combination washer/dryer back in December. After having this unit in my house for a little over a month I am so far pleased to say I am happy with my purchase. After purchasing my first home I realized that there was no ventilation ran for a dryer or 220V wiring even ran to where the previous owner had their laundry area setup. This machine solved that issue plus worked well with one of my compulsions about making sure clothes went immediately from the washing machine to the dryer to avoid getting that mildew smell by allowing me to have it automatically start drying after the wash cycle.
As far as the machine’s performance and how it runs. I did some research and read many reviews before making my purchase. One thing that was mentioned over and over through other reviews was the need for the machine to be elevated to help it drain properly. Some people used homemade stands others bought the recommended LG pedestal. Instead of finding out for myself whether or not this machine worked well while sitting flat on the ground I went ahead and purchased the pedestal that goes with it. Something else that was a common mention in other reviews was load size. I experimented with my first few loads to see what worked for me. Since I prefer to wash and dry in my setup I wanted to make sure that I didn’t overfill the machine. It took a few attempts but I found a load size that works well for me, usually a pair of jeans, a few shirts, undergarments, and socks will wash and dry without issue in less than three hours. This works well for my household size of two but if you have a larger household with more laundry and less time this machine may not be ideal for you.
There are a lot of different wash cycles to play with to get your desired results. These may not be for everyone but they are useful and have their functions. Since I generally use a cold wash cycle, extra rinse, and more dry settings I was able to set a custom program so I can just hit a single button to pull up my desired settings each time. Another feature I use a lot is delayed wash. I can load the machine at night and set it to start a couple hours before I generally return home and my clothes will be near done when I return home in the afternoon without setting around getting wrinkly all day.
The only other thing worth mentioning is the lint. There will be some lint remaining in your washer after the cycle is done. You should wipe down the inside of the door and around the rubber seal after each cycle. This doesn’t seem too tedious. There is also a lint trap you should clean once a month. Having performed this task once already I can see that it is easy enough that anyone should be able to do it with the instructions provided. It is worth noting also that I notice that there is a decent amount of lint coming out with the water through the drain hose. I drain into a laundry sink and use a cheap hair catcher to prevent the lint from going down the drain so it hasn’t worried me but it is definitely worth mentioning for those who use another draining method.

We bought this 4 days ago, half price, as an open box return. We needed a bigger washer. We have medical issues, so we are looking to reduce chores. For the same price as a washer, we could get this. 15 yrs ago, we had one of these combos by another manufacturer ... it was not good. For the open box price, we decided to risk it and consider this a "great LG washer with benefits". We've already done 10 loads. 9/10 came out dry - not damp dry. The 1/10 was a load of sheets and towels that became tangled and unbalanced. We never heard the unbalance like the old front loader which banged. We are keeping the dryer for heavy laundry days, so we can just run a load of wash, throw in dryer, then start another load of wash. We are considering adding a laundry location to the main level of the home for aging in place reasons. If it keeps up the same performance, I can see moving this machine to the main level with a cheaper install than a stacked washer and 240v dryer with a new vent. User notes: it does not default to a dry setting when selecting a wash type. We have to select dry level every load. I hooked it up myself. Very easy. Would I pay $1600-1800 new? Before experiencing it, no, based on previous experience with a combo. Now, would I spend the money and pair it with a basic back up dryer instead of getting a 5cf ft washer + separate dryer? Yes. 4 stars is because we haven't had it that long.

I did alot of research before buying this washer/dryer combo and think you have to be honest with what you/your family needs. This is perfect for a smaller household, and maybe not for a larger family. Alot of people tried to detour me, however it works perfect for a single condo. Yes, it does take a bit longer for a full cycle, however it is not the 6-8 hours that many cite.
One of the tips I read was to take the clothes out and "shake/snap" each piece out and it is just fine.
The unit is VERY quiet so perfect for condo living. I also love that it takes up less space, so I can put some shelves where my stackable used to be.
I would recommend this for a small household and just be honest as to your expectations. As the start-to-finish time is a bit longer, you just have to adjust your habits. Basically, instead of doing all my laundry in one day, I've just spaced it out.
Lastly love that it is energy/water efficient and feel my clothes are cleaned well and rinsed better.
As a side note, I was VERY impressed with my Best Buy experience. I had visited other major appliance stores and was greatly disappointed in the customer service (read completely ignored as a single person and not a couple).

This has been a pretty good product as of now. It does take quite some time to complete normal wash or dry cycle. I did find one trick though. When doing the laundry start with just a wash cycle (no dry). Then once it finishes you can open the door and put in a softener towel if you wish. Then close the door and select just a drying cycle and choose "no spin" on the spin setting. believe it or not that seems to cut the overall time a little.
So far i'm pleased. and as with any "new tech" item, Just give it time to get used to it and experiment with the cycles.

Takes Some Getting Used To

This machine takes some getting used to. It cleans very well with minimum wear to fabrics and uses less water than a top loader. When using the drying cycle, the clothes come out feeling damp even tho they're not. I know that sounds weird, but once the clothes cool, the damp feeling goes away. I wish I'd known that from the first because I kept putting the clothes back in for another drying cycle until I figured it out. Main complaint: it can take 2-3 hours for a wash/dry cycle to complete.

My husband and I have a small home, about 700 sq ft, and just had no room for a washer and a dryer. I found this machine and have never looked back! It is spacious inside without taking up too much floor space. I love that I can start it and don't have to worry about it for a couple of hours and when it's done it's dry and ready to go. Make sure you take it out sooner rather than later otherwise I have noticed a lot of wrinkling but that doesn't bother me much. Others are also confused about the lint and because it's an electric dryer and it doesn't have a vent the lint stays in the machine. Just wipe down the door and the seal every load just like you would empty out the lint trap, yes it is a bit harder and more annoying, but not that bad. Best solution for small spaces and families that don't have multiple loads everyday. (Not that you couldn't but it would be hard if you weren't home to change it mid day) I highly recommend!

I needed a ventless dryer in my new apartment, and a washing machine as well. The previous tenant had used an on-site laundry facility, but that is not for me. I decided to go with this combo product for the space saving, the ventless feature, and the decent reviews. I've lived here with this machine for 6 months now, doing wash nearly every day. When we bought our home, it included the previous model of this washer/dryer combo. That model was slightly smaller, had some trouble balancing spin cycles, but was otherwise functional and a great space-saver for urban apartment living. We then purchased this new version of the LG combo washer/dryer, with its larger capacity, and we have been very pleased.
Washing is exceptional, even using minimal detergent, yet also gentle and has not harmed our clothes in any way. The dryer works very well for a condensate model, but word for the wise: When adding a load of laundry, fill the tub only about 1/2 to 2/3 max. This is because condensate dryers need room for the air to circulate so it can suck the moisture out during the drying process, and it also reduces incidence of wrinkles. The tub has a large enough cavity that this should not pose any issues for singles and couples, but may be a challenge for families as a combined wash and dry load takes about 3 hours (1 for wash & spin, another +/- 2 to dry). It is a ventless drying system that sucks water out of the interior air of the drier and then spits it out into your drain. It dries using the same regular 120v plug, so you don't need special wiring or a 240v outlet like standard electric vented driers.
I load it, set the timer and head off to work. Clean, dry clothes await my return, with the auto-tumble feature preventing any wrinkles from setting in if I’m running late.
Notes:
- This unit does not have a lint screen, but rather you need to wipe out the rubber lining and the inside door surface and seals to remove where lint accumulates. It is more work than removing lint from a standard drier, but for me it is worth it for the space-saving options.
- The dry-only cycle does not include the auto-tumble wrinkle preventer function and does not include the steam function (these features are available on the LG standalone vented electric drier models). It would be nice to add this functionality, especially considering the cost of this unit, and it would let you freshen your clothes without having to actually run a wash & dry cycle.
- The drum is large enough to handle large items like our relatively thin king sized comforter. Drying it did take longer but came out ok. This machine can also handle the washing part of a heavier/thicker king sized comforter easily, but it might not be able to dry it.
- It is a very heavy machine! Make sure you or your contractor are prepared and that the surface you are using is strong enough (if you are using a pedestal, for example). I had Best Buy's expert delivery and installation service take care of everything, and they were very courteous and efficient.

Works Exactly As Expected

Our needs were very specific.
1. Our condo has a very small, built-in, closet space for laundry, we needed something that fit in there.
2. HOA rules prohibit venting outside our unit, so we needed something that could vent within the space.
3. We needed a washer with a large enough capacity to wash a king-sized comforter.
This unit fulfilled all those needs. I've found the wash cycles to all be very quick and efficient, however, when adding in drying, that time does extend quite a bit. My usual habit is to throw a load in before I head to work, so this works nicely for me as it's done when I get home. I also prefer to hang dry as much as possible, so again, these cycles work really well for me. I can definitely see it being an adjustment for some, it would be really inconvenient for someone who typically washes and dries multiple loads in one day. I was specifically looking for a machine that met certain criteria while conforming to the way I already preferred to do laundry. This fits me perfectly!

Washes quickly however does take a long time to dry. The area I have for a laundry area is small so this fits perfectly. I didn’t want one of the tiny washer/dryers that you can’t fit a towel in and this one is a regular size washer. Just don’t get in a hurry to have dry clothes

I really do enjoy how this allows you to save space. However it does take a long time (3-4 hours) to do a full cycle and you do have to clean out the lint in the washer each cycle as well. It works great for me since I only do one load a week and I’m single. I would recommend it to someone if they have a small family and want to save space.

Love this combo very big and spacious. Different settings allow for easier and simple loads. The only thing that is a drawback is the dryer process is a little longer than expected; but with a ventless dryer that is reasonable.

Loved the concept of only having one machine but the reality wasn't exactly what I expected. The machine worked if you have 3 hours to devote to one load of laundry. You can't use the dryer without a 20 minute spin cycle first which is annoying. If you want to dry anything quickly this is not going to work for you. You can't fill the machine more than half full either so you cant take advantage of the large size either. Things I liked were the ventless machine and the fact it runs on 110 volt power rather than 240 volt. There were lots of settings to pick from too. Overall it's okay if you're good with waiting for each load.

If you have a small space and don't have room for both a washer and a dryer, this could be a good choice. It looks really nice in a room and seems fairly sturdy but, personally if you have the room for two separate units, I would not purchase this. While it's super nice to be able to put clothes in dirty and not have to worry about forgetting about them or switching them to the dryer, that's not enough to make it worth the higher price in my opinion. You definitely can't wash/dry anything quickly with this unit, even with a quick wash function because it essentially steam dries which takes forever. It can take 5+ hours to complete a single, average sized load of laundry. Even though it steams, I also have issues with jeans and some other random materials ALWAYS coming out wrinkly no matter what I do. It doesn't allow you to customize the cycles enough compared to individual washer and dryers either. If you don't have the pedestal, its quite low on the ground and has a large drum I have to almost crawl into to get all the laundry out. And one of the most frustrating things about this is the lint collection. There's a rubber ring around the door that collects all of the lint during a cycle. I find it difficult to get it all out of the folds of the ring which will cause it to release back onto your clothes somehow during another wash, or it gets back on your clothes when you pull them out of the machine. If you have pets, this is a nightmare. Also, even though it had it professionally installed and balanced, in less than a year it shakes SO bad to where it moves/knocks things sitting on the top of it off. You also have to be careful with what you put on top because it heats up quite a bit. Overall the idea is really nice, but it isn't the style for me.

This washer/dryer combo is no joke. It holds huge loads and actually dries them completely. I highly recommend this if you need the convenience of pushing one button and letting the machine do everything for you. It's so nice not having to take out the wet clothes and put them into a dryer, especially if you're going to be out of the house for a few hours.

A Solution for Small Laundry Spaces

I picked this model after a long search for a solution that would allow me to fit a large, full-sized washing machine in my condo's small laundry space. This unit lets me wash king-sized bedding in my little area, and it saves on energy, so I love it. Just be sure to read all the info you can on it, because it may not be the unit for everyone. The full wash and dry cycle can take hours, so it can be hard to do multiple loads if your habit is to do all the laundry in one day. If you prefer to throw in a load before heading to work and return home to clean dry, clothes, then this will work.

This is the second one we own. Have had the first one for 10 plus years and this one has a bigger basin. It does take a little longer to dry compared to a separate system. This way if you are always forgetting to switch your laundry its okay because its dry and clean when you remember.

Takes about 5 hours to wash and dry but it's large capacity and you can just put it in and not worry about how long it's been in the washer wet.
