    Noisy Door!

The washer works great. No excessive vibrating as some other reviews indicate. HOWEVER, during a spin-cycle the front door rattles and vibrates in such a manner that you think the door is going to open. When door is locked, it is not tightly held against the rubber seal. If I gently pull on the door, it is loose but then is still locked. Attention: LG if you are reading this, IS THIS NORMAL? Thank you!

The big issue with us was the door was not switchable so it must be placed on the left hand side of the dryer, which created a real problem of installation. we purchased the platform to go with this system which makes it very convenient to use.

So far, pretty good. Only complaints: washer doesn't completely drain water to where you have small puddles left after every wash (have to leave door open to dry); moisture sensor on dryer is inaccurate -- clothes aren't always dry when it says they are.

Received the Washing Machine two weeks ago. Great machine. Must leave the doors open after the wash so it can air out to avoid moisture build up.

We purchased the LG washer/dryer after our Samsung w/d of 10 years could not be repaired. The repairman (and Consumer Reports) listed LG products as the ones to buy. I suppose I am happy with my purchase overall, but for what they cost I am a little disappointed. My Samsung appliances felt sturdier/heavier/better constructed - my new LG's squeak a lot and don't control vibration during the spin cycle as well as my old washer. I agree with other reviewers that it would be nice if the entire control panel was backlit - thankfully my laundry room is well lit enough that this isn't a big concern for me. The stacking kit for the w/d isn't nearly as aesthetically pleasing as with the Samsungs. I have noticed that the dryer tends to have excess lint and materials piled atop the lint trap and this stuff falls onto the floor whenever I open the door after a cycle. The lint screen is doing its job, but I think the shape/design of the opening and door allow stuff to build up there and fall out when I open the door. We did purchase the extended warranty out of an abundance of caution based on the short life (only 10 years) of my last w/d set.

This washing machine is not good, IT'S GREAT! This machine quietly washes loads with less than half of the water my previous washing machine used. I can wash clothes while my little ones are sleeping (not the case with my old unit). The only drawback is that the door is a little low to the ground and I'm bending down a lot to use the machine (I'm 6'2").

Attractive washer. Steam function works very well. Quiet machine. Door not well made; cracked after 1 week. I had to return the unit.

I have had this a few weeks, and it does a good job. The only problem I had was with left over soap suds near the door seal. I have had front loaders before, and have always used HE with no suds left over. A helpful LG support representative told me I am using to much soap. He recommended using less than the amount recommended by the detergent manufacturer if I still had leftover suds at the recommended level. My clothes seem to be coming at clean with little or no left over suds using the reduced amount of detergent. I do wonder if this problem is why the machine offers up to 3 additional rinses on some cycles.

Bought the pair. Beautiful design. Clean look. Can wash a lot of clothes. The door is a little finicky, but otherwise no complaints. Gets things clean. Really wrings the clothing out so dryer time is much less.

    1) Enough capacity to wash about 5 bath rugs nicely 2) very quiet, make sure though ...that it is installed correctly on the pedestal washer or drawer. 3) "end of cycle" signal chime can be turned off, if doing laundry at night or when people are resting. 4) longer wash cycles than my old kenmore elite. 5) clothes come out nicely wrung out 6)Washer door either swings Wide open (or )can be left open in a Slit . . not half way. I always leave it wide open to aerate: Advantage: dry, no smell at all. Disadvantage: difficult to move in my light laundry room with a widely open door.

Have owned this set for 2 years

When we bought our house we decided to finally update our washer and dryer. I was excited to get front loaders and we were looking for something very quiet. This fits the bill! We have owned these (this washer and the dryer) for 2 years and it's still amazing. We sleep with king size coverlets/coverlets and it easily washes everything perfectly. There is a lot of space inside and I also love the custom program setting. I'm so happy we went with LG and that the salesman helped us pick these! They are so quiet I can leave the laundry door open and not hear it when I'm in the kitchen - which is right next to the laundry room. I highly recommend LG for washers and dryers. :D

I've had this about a month. I'm not sure I love it yet. It replaced a 13 year old front loader Kenmore HE4 Pros: *larger washer capacity *doesn't vibrate much *Uses less detergent, which is also a con since I've had some sudsing issues adjusting to it. @@@@@ It is so quiet when it stops running that I had to turn on the load complete signal to know the wash was done *clothes seem to come out very clean Cons: *Doesn't have an extra rinse cycle if it senses extra suds remaining. The old Kenmore would run an extra rinse automatically if it sensed suds. @@@@@ No way to permanently change the defaults - it defaults to turbo wash, but I don't want turbo wash, so I've to always unselect it. @@@@@ Can't change the stupid signal tune. @@@@@ If the soap dispenser drawer is fully pulled out, the machine door will hit it when you open or close the door. I keep the drawer and door open to avoid musty smells, but now I've to be careful not to have the drawer out too far or it will hit the door. @@@@@ No shelf on the pedestal to rest a laundry basket. My Kenmore had a shelf so I could put the laundry basket below the door when the pedestal is pulled out. I made one myself, but the door is so large that I can't have the basket on my shelf and open and close the machine door. General observance - doesn't seem to use much water at all, yet the clothes seem clean. It just seems odd to use so little water, even for a front loader.

I fell in love with these machines at the Best Buy store. They are so beautiful and had all the features I wanted. The salesman at the store asked me which way I wanted the doors to open which is very important to me. It is frustrating to have doors in the way when transferring wet clothes from washer to dryer. Only that is how the doors opened on this set when they were delivered. The installer kindly reversed the dryer door but that still left the washer door in the way. The washer door is not reversible and Best Buy NOW tells me that not only does LG not sell front loading washers that open from left to right--no one does. They tell me that all new construction puts washer connections on the left and dryer vents on the right. I find this hard to believe considering the last four houses I've lived in, including the one I bought new in 1992, were all set up for washer on the right/dryer on the left. Definitely something to check out before buying any front loading washer. I'm having to send these back and replace them with a set that has a toploading washer. At least that will get the washer door out of the way. While waiting to have the new machines installed I've been using the LG's. The only other thing I found disappointing is that the washer doesn't spin loads as dry as machines I've used before so drying takes longer. The Samsung's I'm replacing them with are much plainer but still cost the same. I hope they are better machines.

    Worst Machine Ever

I'd not recommend this machine or LG appliances. Brand new machine delivered setup took 3 hours to complete the first load. Machine was level and set up by Geek Squad so it was installed properly. Machine would not spin out and in trying to do so the front door flexed so far out you could get your hand between the door and the machine. Called Geek Squad to come look at it and it will be going back. I reordered a Samsung set that I'd started with but in the meantime had to keep this piece of junk for two weeks only able to do a third to a half a load at a time. When the machine was able to spin out correctly it sounded like a jackhammer or a machine gun going off. I can't believe a brand new machine would be this broken. I do not trust LG and in fact this experience has made me scared to do laundry until it is gone. No commentary on how the machine controls work - when turning the machine on it seems like you had to spend the dial forever to get to the cycle setting you wanted and the dial does not spin nicely like Samsung's. It was nice you had the option to turn the signal at end of cycle to three different volume levels. There was a nice selection of Cycles to choose from had the machine worked. When the machine filled with water it was very loud. Having now had Samsung machines versus LG machines I have to say that Samsung dial controls spins better and overall is much quieter in performance. If any of you have a brand new LG machine and it is very loud when spinning like a jackhammer or a machine gun as I mentioned, call and get it serviced that is not normal. The door on the front might jiggle slightly but at no point in the spin cycle should it flex out very far from the machine like mine did.
