When my hundred year old Maytag died I needed to get a solid basic washer without a lot of bells and whistles. The fact that this one saved on energy and water was a plus, but I didn’t buy this machine to prove that I was a card carrying conservationist. I wasn’t used to seeing washers without agitators, but it looked like an interesting concept. While I had considered a front loading washer, the many complaints about mold made that a less desirable choice. So primarily based on the recommendation from consumer reports I bought the LG WT7100. First of all the Manual is surprisingly poor and I used the online Manual as it supposedly had more information in it. It’s poorly written, missing information, and has inadequate illustrations. Now onto the machine. As others have mentioned and complained about the normal cycle in particular does not have enough water to get all the clothes to circulate throughout the water to get wet and exposed to the detergent. The normal cycle seems to only be there to meet the standards so that they can say it is energy and water efficient. This cycle is basically nonfunctional. It is analogous to the miles per gallon listed on new cars; in order to get those miles the car is virtually empty of everything including the passengers, spare tire, and any superfluous weight except for maybe the driver, such that it is inapplicable in practice. That’s what the normal cycle is like on this machine. I thought at least that I would be able to hit the Water Plus button to increase the water level on the normal cycle but it does not function in the normal cycle, something that you’re not told in the Manual specifically for this machine. The way to get a reasonably functional wash is to use the Deep Wash cycle which uses more water to begin with and allows you to press pause, then press the water plus button, which you can do more than one time to add even more water. If you watch the clothes during this cycle they mostly all get exposed to the water and the detergent, but it doesn’t inspire confidence. One would think that LG could find an engineer who understood hydrodynamics well enough to design the wall and floor of the basin in such a way as to circulate the water and thus the clothes thoroughly throughout the cycle. I will reluctantly recommend this machine because the price is not exorbitant and it seems better than many of the other machines with so many negative reviews. Not the strongest basis for a recommendation, I know, but it’s the best I can do. Hope it helps others. By the way, while it's fine that someone from LG seems to read the reviews, the expressed agony on hearing a negative review is meaningless, similar to apologies one gets on the phone after every sentence when you call any of these companies for help. Clearly scripted with staff ordered to profusely apologize non-stop. Doesn't mean anything if you don't fix the product.

We recently (3 years ago) purchased a GE washer to replace a Maytag washer that was 18 years old. Imagine our surprise when only 3 years had passed and the washer failed. We made the trip to Best Buy because they not only have a good selection but all of the models on the floor are in stock. We needed something right away and after looking at several models we settled on this LG machine. It is a smart system with a direct drive drum. The washer takes the time to sense the load and its weight distribution, and then selects the right amount of water to add. It uses less water than some other models as well. It is very quiet compared to our previous machine and we have not had any issues with the load becoming unbalanced (something that plagued our previous GE machine). The washer has a glass top that allows the user to peer inside and make sure that everything is functioning properly. We are very pleased with the design and functionality of this model. The spin dry cycle does a great job of wringing most of the water out of the clothes prior to being transferred to the dryer.

I think this washing machine is great! It's easy to use and does a great job cleaning my clothes. It doesn't have an agitator, so their is more space for laundry. I purchased an LG brand due to Consumer Reports saying that they were less prone to needing repairs. Yes, clothes need to be peeled off the sides at the end of the wash cycle, but that's what one would expect with a HE washing machine. Yes, if you don't select the water plus option, there won't be a lot of water available for washing your load. The machine doesn't seem to walk during the spin cycles, but I haven't tried using the high spin setting yet. The only weird thing about the machine is having to separate the load by weight of each individual item and then lay them in the tub in a certain pattern. I'm sure it's something I'll get used to. Overall, my wife and I have been using this washing machine for about 3 weeks now, and we love it. We are extremely happy with our purchase.

Great washer; manual missing the operation section

Washer is great. Is very quiet during wash and rinse. Spin is a little louder than the Samsung of 4 years we replaced but it definitely gets the clothes much dryer. For darker clothes you probably want to use deep wash or extra rinse as they sometimes leave a little soap behind. This is typical of most new washers. As another review has said, though, the manual is lacking. The section on how to actually USE the machine (cycles, options,etc..) is manly missing. It's in a section called "Operation" and is not in the paper manual. That section appears in the online version of the manual. Other than the manual being somewhat lacking great product. Really needs to be 4.5 stars but can't give 5 if half the functionality is hidden from the user.

Wash cycles have not been overly long, clothes come out clean, simply to use, no weird smells. Experienced an out of balance load once and it was an easy fix (simply rearrange clothes) washer continued where it stopped. The only complaint I have is that water hangs out in the soap/softener dispenser and there is no way to take out the whole tray and dry it. I worry about bacterial growth in the dispenser if the washer sits idle for days. I do leave the top open but have also started leaving the dispenser pulled out as well which has helped some of the remaining water evaporate. Otherwise, I am very happy with my purchase. Too soon to tell how well it will hold up over time but I am confident in the LG brand.

Because of space limitations, we chose to purchase this energy saving top loader rather than the more highly rated front loader. (Unless you have room to keep a front loader door open ALL the time, you might consider this top loader). No, the clothes won't be submerged in water. That is not the way this washer operates. You'll be wondering how on earth your clothes will get clean. But, miraculously, they will. We've now had this washer for about a month, and we are 100% pleased; Reviewers who fault the machine for not submerging the clothes entirely are unclear about how the machine operates. It is just a different technology.

BEST WASHING MACHINE!! ( I've had several over my 60+ years) SO HAPPY I purchased an LG. After having a horrible experience with Samsung products I did a lot of research and decided on the LG brand. Wow! It's beautiful, quiet, easy to operate, and best of all it has a deep water wash cycle so you can actually get a super good cleaning if you desire of things like towels, personal items, etc. The efficiency of low water washing is great, but it's really awesome to be able to have a deep water wash available. I LOVE THIS MACHINE! Seriously!! You will too!

I like the fact that the washer top door slowly goes down without it slamming. It can handle a big comforter with no problem, the glass door allows you to see the load being washed. I do like the fact that you can download the LG Smart ThinQ app to diagnose any issues with the washer if needed. Noise level when washing a heavy load is pretty quite. The different wash levels are simple yet they work well, you do have the option to customize wash type. The chime that it makes when it’s done is is ok wish I could customize it, but it’s fine. Overall I would pick the washer again.

Got a lot of the features of some of the more expensive washers, but at a more moderate price. Made for water and energy efficiency this machine actually will not completely cover your clothes in water on the deafult setting. In my opinion unless you have really dirty clothes this doesn't matter as everything ends up wet in the end, but my girlfriend insists on the clothes being completely submerged. There is another setting that you toggle on and adds sufficient amount of water to cover. Bedding towels and blankets all wash good in here as well. No complaints, easy to setup and install.

My Samsung front loader recently threw a bearing and needed to be replaced. The tech that tried to fix the washer told me that top loader washers do not have this bearing problem. That along with the fact that top loaders tend to be a little less expensive than front loaders prompted me to give this washer a try. We used it a few times but found that it didn't seem to get clothes as clean as our old front loader. So we ultimately returned it and got another front loader. The washer was nice and quiet though which we liked.

Old washer gave out on us so we were in the market for a new one. After looking and comparing other washers I chose to go with this one and Best Buy had it for a cheaper price than competitors. Had Best Buy deliver and install which was extra but they did a good job. Unfortunately when they first delivered unit it was damaged in the front so we refused the delivery and they sent out a new washer a couple of days later which was fine. Machine works great, very quiet and cleans clothes well. I am happy with this purchase

Love this washer! It replaced a 12 year old whirlpool duet sport that I hated. This washer is a cubic foot larger than the one I bought it to replace and OMG, the extra space is awesome. Like another review stated, the detergent tray does still have water in it after the cycle has finished. I just leave the lid and tray open and it's evaporated by the time I go to do another load. I've had the washer for 2.5 weeks now, so I've done about 10 loads. No complaints so far!

When selecting this LG washer I looked on all the large websites and all washers were within $2 of each other. Old washer broke so couldn't wait for a sale. Then looked at the online reviews for this model as well as checked out the Consumer Reports. CR gave this model a great review. So without even going to a store to look at it I ordered online. I was delivered a few days later. I couldn't be happier!

Purchased another LG washer, after my 15 year old LG front loader finally died on me. 15 years is an amazingly long run for something that got used everyday, multiple times. It was hard to say goodbye, considering it had washed all my children's clothes since they were newborns. This new one works like a charm. Great install by Geek Squad. Nice guys even threw in new water hoses for free.

This washer is very smooth and does a great job of washing all items. The washer that this one replaced was also a HE machine and supposedly self balancing but would frequently display the dreaded UE (uneven) code which required manually rearranging the load. The LG machine handles all sizes and types of loads with no problems. Really like it so far.

Bought this to replace a twenty five year old Kenmore, it washed the clothes for our family of seven. It is an agitator, and has two dials. The new machine is a very different approach to washing. The clothes come out clean, it uses less water, the deep tub is nice. It would be great if this lasts twenty five years, I’ll be ninety one.

After previously having a front loading washer, I knew I never wanted one again. We LOVE this washer and would buy it again! Huge capacity, quick load times, gets clothes clean, stains come out easily. We have had no issues with balancing or clothes getting tangled and not having an agitator provides so much extra room.

This washer is so much more efficient than the one it replaced. It spins the clothes so that drying now takes less time (in the dryer we've had for 15 years). I have had a little difficulty learning how to use the different wash cycles. The information is not in the manual that came with the machine but needs to be referenced online.

Washing machine. Love it so far. For a senior citizen its a whole new learning experience. Cleans clothes very good. First washer I have ever had without an agitator. Choose this particular washer because of high rating from Consumer Reports. Price was reasonable. Delivery guys were great. I do love Best Buys Geek Squad. Very dependable.

Didn't need/want hi-tech features, because I'm simple, not a professional laundry service. This model is middle of the line, but very easy to use, quiet, efficient, made for tall folks (I'm 5'10") to reach the controls and the bottom of the tub (where all my socks like to lay and wait for me. It's a pleasure to do business with!
