I purchased this to replace an 18-year old LG front loader that I loved. I don't think the new one works as well. With the reduced water usage, I have found that I have to use liquid detergent or the clothes don't get clean, especially with cool water - the powder detergent isn't even dissolved all the way and the clothes don't smell clean. Liquid detergent works fine. The detergent dispenser is annoying. If you are using liquid soap and want to do a pre-wash, you have to put the pre-wash detergent directly into the drum. If you try to put it in the dispenser, there's a hole and it runs underneath before you can close it and doesn't get used. If you want to use powder, you have to remove the plastic container for the main wash cycle or half of the powder will remain in the container. Also, it leaves small pools of water in the dispensers, so I have to leave it open to let it dry so it doesn't mold.
It doesn't have a hand wash cycle like my old washer, and the delicate cycle is definitely harder on my clothes than my old one, even in a mesh bag, so I have to manually wash certain items that I used to run through the washer. If you have pets that leave fur on your clothing or people with long hair, expect to find clots of hair on whatever you wash. This washer does not deal with hair or fur well. My old one wasn't great in that area, this one is definitely worse. If you're dealing with animals (I have older cats) that are incontinent, you better presoak anything you used for cleanup before dumpingit in the washer or it will still smell. I haven't tried the steam yet, maybe that will help. While this washer has many different programs, the instructions say you need to wash any large items on the bedding cycle. So what about large, delicate items like lace tablecloths? They need to be done on delicate. Not sure how I'm going to handle that one. I like the large selection of temperatures and spin speeds - especially the ability to not spin at all. And the spin cycle is amazingly effective. I haven't used anything above medium and even my jeans are drier than high spin in my old machine. The entire machine is definitely quieter than my old one. I can barely hear it when I'm on the first floor (it's in the basement). I also like that you can do up to 3 rinses. I don't like the wifi function. I have no intention of using it, and wish there was a simple way to disable it, so I unplug the washer every time I'm done using it. I don't like having the controls on the front - I use the top for folding and sorting laundry, and have inadvertently turned it off while it was running and inadvertently enabled / disabled the control lock just by standing or leaning too close. The selection panel on the right is really hard to read. My basement doesn't have bright lighting and my sight is not great, and the lights that glow to indicate what has been selected overshadow the writing, making it difficult to read. The words need to be back lit or written in a contrasting color or something. The drum on this is larger, deeper and lower than the one on my old washer. Not a problem for me as I'm short, could be an issue for someone with back or knee problems. At the same time, it's several inches taller than my prior washer due to the controls in front. If I had added a pedestal it would be shoulder height. Washing times are comparable to my prior machine. The longest cycle so far was 90 minutes for some very dirty bedding, and it came out really clean except for the hair clots that I had to pick off. The time estimate that appears on the display is accurate, so I can set a timer and come back when it's done. I like that the signal to notify you that the washer is done can be turned on or off. Overall I'm happy with the washer, but am not impressed with this new high efficiency technology.

Awesome washine machine! This one is super high-tech. Every feature this machine has is useful. I greatly appreciate the Turbo Wash feature that saves time. The sanitizing steam cycle is also useful. The LG ThinQ app is also very useful. From important notifications to mashine maintenance, it's a must-have. Sometimes I forget to close the door. The app notifies me so I don't regret it later. My next purchase will their dryer.

I purchased this unit to replace an 11 year old LG front load washer. The old unit had provided great service, but the control board was getting unreliable. This new unit is a substantial improvement over the older unit. For the same physical footprint, it has a 30% larger capacity, is quieter, has more wash selections, and has WIFI to support built-in intelligence. I can now wash a queen comforter in this unit which I could not in the prior unit.
Only negative is it comes with a really short drain hose. Be prepared to purchase an extension.

Beautiful machine. Washes even large loads so quietly. LOVE the remote laundry start and app features!!! Can’t wait to try out remote laundry when I’m thousands of miles from home to see if still works from that far away.

This is our second LG front loader, which we purchased to replace the old one that died after 14 years of service. My clothes are definitely cleaner and the larger capacity is nice. There is a great range of settings (which our old one also had) and it's easy to operate. I don't understand why I would need to start my washer remotely (there is no magical feature that loads it or transfers the load to the dryer) so we have never connected it to our wifi or explored those settings. But it's paired with our original gas dryer we purchased in 1994, so we're clearly not hung up on new technology. :) We've had it for over a year and still love it. Cleaning the drain was easy. Highly recommend!

LOVE this new washer! It is much more efficient and quieter than my old washer. It cleans clothes inn almost half the time as my previous washer. Very satisfied.

I've had washer for about a month and it seems to be working great. Cleaning performance has been great. Capacity is great for a family of 4. Easy to use and alerts my smart watch when cycle is done which is good when having laundry room in the basement.

This is my first time buying a washing machine. I read a lot of reviews and went through videos on youtube. LG came out on top in-terms of economical and techy machines. It has been a month since I have been using it. Best buy installation and haul away service was amazing, efficient and did not take much time(though I do feel I could have done it myself but it was my first time). They balanced the washer and set it up as requested. Machine is linked to the LG ThinkQ app, cool way to track when the machine is due for a cleaning cycle. Make sure the delivery bolts around the drum(4) are removed before you use the machine, if they are left then the drum will make a loud noise and may even break. It's pretty quiet, does not vibrate a lot as long as it is leveled. Runs fine for regular loads, but heavy loads like beddings and comforters cause issuses if placed together, when the machine hits the rinse and spin cycle for beddings it fails to spin due to unbalanced load(basically the sheets and comforters intertwine), you have to be alert and check on the machine when it's time for the spin cycle as it will be stuck at the 15 or 10 mins mark until you pause and untangle the load and distribute it evenly. Besides that, I love the techy stuff with the machine and I can track things on my phone. I use both pods and liquid detergent and no issues with either, gets hard old stains, I work in a hospital, clothes are fresh and clean, all kind of stains come off. Highly recommend it, if you are willing to spend more, buy the dryer that comes with it, both the washer and dryer communicate with each other and are cheaper if you buy them together, my old dryer broke a month later and I ended up buying it's recommended twin a month later at full price :(, but love the machines. They are a beast, and if you love AI and are techy then you can look at the newer versions with touch screens that LG recently released.

This washer replaced an older LG front loader that died. It’s quieter than the older washer, especially while draining. It doesn’t have the usual buzzing drain pump that the older washer had. I also like the larger capacity: 4.5 cubic feet vs. 3.7 cubic feet of the older unit. And the interface with the ThinQ app is a nice bonus.

Only a few weeks of use but so far very happy with it. Easy to use and good overall performance. Fits bedding and good sized loads. Rinses clean. Fits in a compact space and is quiet. The only thing I don't care for is the smell the interior gives off. It doesn't seem to transfer to fabrics but it's unpleasantly chemical and hasn't yet gone away with use.

This LG electric dryer is a game-changer. Its standout features? Whisper-quiet operation and remarkable efficiency.
It runs so quietly I forget it's on. No more disruptive rumbling—just tranquility, day or night.
Efficiency is top-notch. Clothes dry quickly and evenly, even bulky items. Plus, it's energy-efficient, saving on bills and reducing my footprint.
The sleek design fits perfectly, and controls are intuitive. It's durable too, showing no wear after months of use.
In short, if you want a quiet, efficient dryer that's built to last, this one's a winner.

The washer cleans well. However, you do need to download the full manual (not the short one that comes with the washer). Then, look over not only the process of washing clothes but the maintenance required. Specifically:
1. Choosing the right setting.
2. Wiping the door seal after finishing and keeping the door open until it dries.
3. Running a tub cleaning cycle after every 30 washes.
4. Cleaning the drain pump filter on a regular basis.
Many of the low ratings come from owners transitioning from top loader washers. All top loaders basically require is throwing clothes in, dumping in detergent, and pressing start if you don’t need to change settings like temperature. The WMA4000HWA is somewhat more complicated. When you turn it on, it seems to default to the Normal cycle. However, you need to turn the Cycle Selector Knob one click before the washer actually is in the Normal cycle. Otherwise, you won’t be able to select the cycle modifiers (what LG calls settings such as temperature and spin rate) on the control panel. Because it always defaults back to this semi-Normal state after power off, you can’t leave it in your favorite cycle. You need to be aware of that if this bothers you.
Other low ratings come from people who don’t understand how the washer works. As an example, clothes won’t be sopping wet at the end of most cycles. The spin cycles remove a lot of the water. However, some of the fault is on LG for not explaining certain things in the manual. Besides the issue of the Normal cycle at start-up, I regularly get the “Sud” or Oversudsing Detection warning when washing dish towels. The manual does explain what the warning is and how to get out of it. However, it doesn’t suggest how to avoid the error by selecting the Bedding cycle which is for articles that don’t absorb water very well.
The LG ThinQ application does have some value so long as you recognize it’s basically a monitoring tool The remote start function is of value only if you are willing to set it up before “going remote” and then want to send a signal to start washing before you arrive back. Also, it doesn’t warn you if you are getting the “Sud” warning. Instead, the time until cycle completion display never changes so you must figure out something is wrong. Finally, the manual doesn’t give you step-by-step instructions on how to configure the app and pair it to the washer. Instead, the manual expects you to understand that you need to download the app, create an account with a username and password, and then let the app walk you through the process. There supposedly is a QR code in the included manual to help but I never found it.
The washer does what is supposed to do. It cleans clothes while using less detergent and water. However, you must be willing to understand how the washer works to get the best results. Otherwise, a top loader especially a commercial style top loader would be a better choice.

In all of my research I did not read anything about "TrueBalance" feature (see logo far right under control panel). I love, love, love how quite this machine is. The slosh of wet clothes is the loudest thing you'll get from this machine. After set up with a level, the spin cycle is sounds like a purring cat. My last LG high capacity never got close to being this enjoyable.

It's big enough for my biggest comforter. it's not to loud and very easy to use. Definitely user friendly. The color is sleek and nice. But if you're like me and don't wanna pay for install don't forget to take out the bolts in the back. Lessoned learned LOL!

My wife absolutely loves this LG 4.5 cu. ft. front load washer, especially the 15-minute quick wash mode—it’s a real time-saver for small loads. The machine is quiet, efficient, and handles large loads with ease while still being gentle on clothes. One important thing to note is that you’ll need to do a bit of regular maintenance to keep it in top shape. Be sure to dry the rubber gasket around the door after each use, as well as the inside of the glass, to prevent mildew. It’s also a good idea to drain the water from the bottom filter about once a month to keep it running smoothly. These small steps go a long way in keeping the washer fresh and functioning. Overall, it’s a high-quality machine with great features and performance. Highly recommended if you’re willing to stay on top of light upkeep

This washer is beautifully designed with many unique features and amazing fit and finish. It is quiet and, as with most LG products, I am sure will be very reliable.

I received this washer 3 weeks ago to replace a 13 year old Whirlpool Duet Front-Load washer. So far, I have done about 40 loads and have used most of the wash cycles. I am very pleased with this washer. It does a great job at getting our clothes clean. The spin cycle is excellent at removing as much moisture as possible so our clothes dry quickly in the dryer. The washer is very quiet. The chime that signals that a cycle is done is a pleasant tune but it is almost too quiet for me to hear, with the washer being located in the basement. I found the online manual to be more helpful than the more brief instructions that came with the washer. I have not been able to use the wi-fi function as the washer is located too far from our router. Overall, this was a good purchase.

We upgraded our laundry with this machine, for sure!! This is one of the machines PSEG gives a rebate for, plus it was on open box deal, so it was right there for us as far as price goes. We rented a truck from Home Depot next door and drove it home for $20. We installed it, first thing was the pistons that hold the barrel inside had pulled apart, probably when the BB guys were loading it on the flatbed and dropped to the side.. once we figured out how to reset those, we were in laundry heaven, this thing cleans so nice, I find my favorite setting is 'Heavy Duty' it gets out even stubborn protein stains. We haven't connected it to our phone, that's just not necessary, my laundry doesn't need to know that much about my life...
We've been using this machine for well over a year and have no complaints, it's quiet, does it's job well, and uses water efficiently. We use Earth Breeze laundry sheets so there is no soapy build up, we don't let clothes sit around and when not in use we leave it open to dry out.. there is no mildew smell and our clothes are always fresh.
Plus, there is a drain access right at the front, which is super helpful, and the tub clean cycle is great to keep everything fresh.
