    Constantly freezes. Screen turns green. Video jitters and gets digitized. Have had problems with every disc I've tried to play. Horrible.

    Ultra Deep mode to go into HDR mode does not work properly and signal will be lost during movies. My Xbox one X 4K player blows this thing out of the water

    The LG - UBK80 4K Ultra HD Hi-Res Audio Blu-Ray Player is a great disc player that delivers superb quality regardless of the media type you are playing. This includes standard DVDs on a 1080p TV but it makes much more sense to purchase this unit if you have a 4K TV and 4K Blu-Ray discs. It should be noted that although this device has an ethernet port, it only seems to be for firmware updates and it does not have WiFi, built-in apps, or any other “smart” features. It is purely a disc playing device which actually makes sense since most 4K TVs already have “smart” features and it would be redundant to have these things built-in to this device. It would have unnecessarily driven up the price so I would say leaving these sorts of features out isn’t really a negative aspect of this product. Disc loading times seem to be about what I expected: it’s not lightning quick but it’s also not unbearably slow. The UI is pretty basic but it gets the job done so it isn’t really a negative and it actually makes the device relatively easy to operate. There is a USB port on the front of the device which can be used to play digital content but the main function of this machine seems to be playing actual physical discs. Since this is the case, it is best suited for those with a large library of discs already or someone who is planning on starting a large library of disc-based media. If this sounds like you, I highly recommend this product and hope you enjoy the sights and sounds as much as I do!

    I say that cause 2 family members have a Sony 4K bluray player and occasionally, not always but occasionally, they'll freeze briefly during playing 4K movies. Check YouTube, it's actually a common issue Sony's current model bluray player. I personally suspect a patch or so needs issued for owners to download. Meanwhile focusing on this LG 4K bluray player, well, it simply doesn't have that issue. Ok your not at all guaranteed to have or develop that issue if you own a Sony version, supposedly roughly a third of owners are all that experience it, but why chance it? Not only is LG every bit as good of a brand as Sony, but the average sale price for a Sony is $200, meanwhile I got my LG for only $150 and frequently see it on sale for that price. So basically it amounts to get the LG version, eliminate the risk of a pesky glitch and save money. If that doesn't sell this model, then nothing does.

    Simple but Perfect

    If you are looking for a straightforward, simple UHD/Blu-Ray DVD player - then look no further; this player is awesome! I already have an Apple TV and Roku for streaming, so I didn't need a player that had a bunch of streaming apps, in fact, that's what makes this player so awesome - compared to players that have all of that bloatware, this player is so fast and so easy to use. There is no WiFi connection - but I have an Ethernet if I need to grab a firmware update or something like that. In an age of complication, this player personifies simplification, which in my opinion is a breath of fresh air! Got mine @$99...so wait for a sale and you won't be disappointed for one second.

    By far the best Player that I have ever owned, the LG 4K Blu-Ray Disc Player UBK80 utilizes advanced technology to provide the ultimate in audio/video home entertainment. Beyond just a 3D picture, the chroma/intensity of hues, tints and shades of the 4K Ultra HD player delivers a dynamic picture with tremendous clarity and color depth. In addition to playing the latest 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc, this player is backward compatible and can play my favorite 3D Blu-Ray and DVD disc. There is even a USB port that allows the connection of a digital storage device for music, movies, photographs, etc. The player can read a multitude of file types and video formats and can even play a CD. The remote quickly lets you find and play your choice media through the various types of media that the player will read. I have found the audio, which is built around Dolby®, to be as awesome and dynamic as the picture’s enhanced vibrant 3D color. The front panel of the player is simple and straight forward. The disc tray open/closes, there is a start, pause and stop playback button, a power on/off button, a power light and a USB port. The rear of the player has a LAN connection, an HDMI out to TV, and an optical audio out for connecting a digital audio device. The remote is also very simple and straight forward allowing for quick switching between the various types of media being viewed. Playing an ultra HD Blu-ray disc on this 4K Ultra HD player, and viewing it on an Ultra HD television renders a remarkable “theater-like” picture for home viewing. The player makes it possible to eliminate several peripheral gadgets used to view or play photos, CDs, etc. and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a quality 'state-of the-art' Blu-Ray disc player.
