Works great with my new LG TV and soundbar. Also, wonderful to listen to CDs via the soundbar.

With every device today having netflix, hulu, prime etc i did not want or need another streaming device. can stream via tv or cablebox. that said, save 50.00 bucks and skip the wireless enabled unit here .. you don't need firmware updates or similar if your not going to stream so you don't need wifi bluray player.. few tips here: some complain that a dvd does not re-start at same place you left off.. when you press the stop button, leave it alone.... DO NOT SHUT THE PLAYER OFF!! the green[power lite] will change to red[ standby] in a couple minutes. 5 days later you can just hit your remote play button and your back where you left off assuming you have left the disc in.. [the players movie icon comes up and your back in business.

A lot of the content on streaming services is not HDR 4K (yet) so although your smart TV is a pricey 4K HDR TV you need to be playing a Blue Ray 4K HDR movie disc to see the full capability it has. This LG-UBK80 player does that. Please be certain to also use a good quality HDMI cable and you are set. Use that HDMI cable to connect to an HDMI input audio receiver because it also plays music CDs that we all have from the 1990s. The remote is a bit too small for my preference but it works. The unit matches the width of other home audi video equipment so it looks good alongside other components you own. A good product !

Picture quality was good as the Xbox One X that we use on our main TV. No issues with HDR playback. There is no app support at all for streaming services like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime. There is a ethernet jack port that is only use to update the software or for blu ray that support live features that required an internet connection. Most of the 4K Tv's have support for streaming apps. If you’re looking for Blu Ray player that can play back 4K Blu Ray disc and only for that you can’t wrong with this player. It supports HDR which improves the picture quality for TV’s that are HDR capable.It’s also capable of playing 3D Blu Ray Disc and DVD Disc.

This player is good for bluray discs. No flaw. Picture and sound quality are excellent. But when I use a pen drive to play an 1080p video, it is struggling. I can see the pixels in the video.

As a person still in love with 3D Blu Rays, yet moving forward with 4K, it can be tricky to find players to support it all...besides gaming hardware. Well, here we are. This little beauty does both, and does it well. Quick set-up and operation. Sleek design with all the connections I need to get the most out of my movies. Have only tried the "play from USB" a few times, but so far, everything tossed at it played. Very happy with this unit.

WiFi: no Streaming: no I hate to expose myself as possibly slow, but when I was shopping for this, I intended to get a different model (bp350 for $70). They were sold out. This one was sitting beside the empty slot. I inspected it and figured it had to at least be an upgrade ($100 marked down from ~$200). I was in a hurry and quickly read the box and skimmed the bestbuy.com page and must have assumed some things. I got it and was disappointed. It didn’t at least do what it’s obviously inferior brother did. I also had a lot of difficulty getting the specs. Neither bestbuy.com nor the packaging were clear on what it could AND COULD NOT do. I guess my main gripe is that it doesn’t do what would be assumed it could and isn’t clear about it. The 4K image was good. Really sharp. The user interface is poor. It seems strait forward enough but just small things aren’t thought through. “Play pause” doesn’t double as “select” in case you lose the remote (many players do this and have saved me much hassle when you just want to play a movie). The play time or progress bar doesn’t appear when you pause. It just has a minimal-effort and basic-model quality and appearance. P.S. I would love a standard spec sheet for similar items. They all refuse to be clear about what it is you are actually buying. Especially if it’s a feature that isn’t included. I know it makes little marketing sense. Just makes for a happier customer.

This is a replacement for an older LG player I had. It works good. I just didn't realize I needed a LAN cable and had to order one.

Good picture and Home Screen no static or resolution issues.

Timely, inexpensive and was exactly what we needed.

I was looking for a no-frills Blu Ray player and this seemed like the perfect machine. Lo and behold, the one thing I needed it to do - play DVDs and Blu Rays - doesn't actually work properly. Maybe it's my machine that's a dud, but regardless, it's frustrating to get a whole system installed to then find out that the Blu Ray player is defective. The issue is that when I put a disc in, it goes to the LG player menu, and when I hit the disc image to start it playing, it will play for about 3 seconds and then it kicks back to the LG player menu. Even if I just get to the DVD/Blu Ray menu, it will hang for a few seconds and then kick back to the LG player menu. I've tried multiple discs (both DVDs and Blu Rays, old and new, scratched and unscratched) with no luck. When I called both Best Buy and the Geek Squad (who installed it), they said they'd send someone out but "couldn't promise that it would be free of charge", which is absurd considering I paid $4k for all of this equipment and installation and we've only had it for a week. Total bummer that the machine doesn't work and additional salt in the wound that it seems like it's not a simple customer service fix that would include coming out and replacing the machine with a new one or a different one. I'm going to have to convince them not to charge me money to get what I paid for to begin with. So as the title states, very disappointed.

Unit keeps freezing when playing 4K discs. Not freezing right away though. Starts after 45 mins - 1 hour of play. Restarting the player fixes the problem but it seems to happen every time I play the first disc from a cold start. The player has been updated with the latest firmware and has adequate room for cooling.

LG manufactures great products with terrific value. I have their TVs, refrigerator and now a Blu Ray.

This unit does not have RCA style audio output jacks if you want to play a CD thru your receiver. Also if you have concert DVD videos, same issue - you have to play audio thru the TV. To play audio thru a receiver you need a newer higher end receiver that accepts digital audio input.

It's OK so far, but I was expecting more. I thought it would automatically switch an LG TV to it when a disc is inserted. But no.
