Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the superb picture quality and ease of use of this 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Many appreciate its performance and the fact that it plays various disc types well, while some find the remote control could be improved and the lack of Wi-Fi a drawback for certain users. The compact size is also a plus for many.

I got this player at a great sell price before Christmas. It loads much faster than my older Samsung Blu-ray player. It obviously upgrades any DVD as the picture is nicer than on my old player but it also misses on some of the views with interesting hues and blooming effects at times.

I have a component home theater system and the hook-up for this unit was far easier than the Blu-ray player it replaced. The video and audio quality are excellent and this was a nice addition to my system.

Excellent Blu-ray player for 4K. What I like best is that this is not a "smart" device. I have enough streaming devices as it is. All they do is interfere with each other or want to take over every other device. Nice product LG!

Our old DVD player just died. Ordered our LG UBK80 on BESTBUY's web page and picked it up curbside which took all off 2 minutes. Super service - thanks. The UBK80 was a snap to connect and the sound quality improved so much. Have no idea why that happened. LG is the way to go.

The LG 4K Blu-Ray player presents a great picture paired with my LG 4K TV. Speaking of being paired with the LG TV, when the LG Blu_Ray player is turned on, the LG TV turns on and automatically selects the Blu-Ray HDMI Input. A nice touch. So far, so good.

I have a large assortment of DVDs and BluRays. Most nights the stuff in local channels are not good, so I watch favorite DVD. And I like to watch a series, usually from British TV. So I do wear out units and rely on quality.

I paired this Blue-ray player with a recently purchased LG - 55" Class UN7000 Series LED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV. I have played several 4K UHD wildlife discs on the combo. Wow the detail is amazing. Greens are a bit saturated but overall beautiful.

So far I have only watched Tenet using this device but it seemed to do a good job with playback. The remote is pretty standard but the individual buttons are pretty tiny if you have big hands like me. The pricing on this unit is competitive in the marketplace.

Picture quality is phenomenal! Sound is also very good too. Playing on a quality 4k TV. Replaced a blu-ray player with this 4k DVD player and the picture is noticeably better! If you're ready to upgrade from blu-ray to 4k this is the player you need at a affordable price.

So far, the LG-UBK80 has done a much better job than the previous higher end LG Blu-ray player I purchased did. I like that I can use my LG TV remote operate both the player as well as the TV. So, I don't usually have to juggle two remotes for on/off, play/pause features.

Overall experience with this 4k blu-ray player is pretty good after about a month. Was looking for a simple player, no apps or stuff like that in it, as all my other devices already got those features already built in. Got it on sale so the price was petty good. Have had no issues playing blu-ray or 4k blu-rays so all in all a great buy.

I was not sure how this would work and if it would really meet my expectations, which were huge, I expected significant value for this purchase. I expected clarity, quality beyond imagination LOL...I was not short changed. It was amazing especially with my regular 1080p Blu-rays. They LOOKED great.

Easy to connect to my LG TV. Left the wife try to figure out how to use it and she had no trouble. Provides great pictures on my UHD TV even when playing old cheap dvd's from thrift stores.

The quality of the video is excellent, but it doesn't have a 3D option. The definition of the image and color display is vibrant and well defined.

If you're looking into 4k physical media in this era of streaming, it's probably because you care about the quality of your media experience. Movies in this resolution shine most and show off the most detail with the higher-bitrate encoding that only discs can currently offer, and good HDR grades make visuals truly pop. This player can give you access to all that, but with a caveat that's likely going to irritate you. Like other optical formats, one of the ways 4k UHD Blu-rays scale is by adding more layers on which additional data can be written. If you do a little digging, you'll find that a lot of the players in this price range are prone to freezing issues when switching from the second to third layers of very high-capacity discs. This freezing can range from a few seconds to entirely locking up a player to such a degree that it will have to be power-cycled before it will respond again. Well, this player not only has that problem, it ALSO suffers common freezes even with smaller discs; a copy of The Greatest Showman, for example, is only on a two-layer BD-66 disc and yet this player consistently grinds to a halt during playback, always at the same times. This doesn't happen with every movie, but it's not some rare edge case either; for me, at least one of every three 2-layer discs and three of every four 3-layer discs seize up at least once during their runtime. It can be worked around, but it's annoying and breaks immersion. In fairness, it's entirely possible that I just got a lemon; you might not have the degree of difficulty with it that I had, but the issues with multilayer discs are common to most of the models in this price range, especially the LGs and Sonys. I ended up upgrading within a few weeks, but you don't have to waste your time and money like I did; if you can, buy once and cry once with the Panasonic UBK820-K. It's more expensive, but this is one of those unfortunate cases where you get what you pay for; the Panasonic won't choke on your discs and this one most likely will. 4k on physical media is worth the hype and you don't deserve to have your experience of it soured by bad tech.
