If you're looking into 4k physical media in this era of streaming, it's probably because you care about the quality of your media experience. Movies in this resolution shine most and show off the most detail with the higher-bitrate encoding that only discs can currently offer, and good HDR grades make visuals truly pop. This player can give you access to all that, but with a caveat that's likely going to irritate you. Like other optical formats, one of the ways 4k UHD Blu-rays scale is by adding more layers on which additional data can be written. If you do a little digging, you'll find that a lot of the players in this price range are prone to freezing issues when switching from the second to third layers of very high-capacity discs. This freezing can range from a few seconds to entirely locking up a player to such a degree that it will have to be power-cycled before it will respond again. Well, this player not only has that problem, it ALSO suffers common freezes even with smaller discs; a copy of The Greatest Showman, for example, is only on a two-layer BD-66 disc and yet this player consistently grinds to a halt during playback, always at the same times. This doesn't happen with every movie, but it's not some rare edge case either; for me, at least one of every three 2-layer discs and three of every four 3-layer discs seize up at least once during their runtime. It can be worked around, but it's annoying and breaks immersion. In fairness, it's entirely possible that I just got a lemon; you might not have the degree of difficulty with it that I had, but the issues with multilayer discs are common to most of the models in this price range, especially the LGs and Sonys. I ended up upgrading within a few weeks, but you don't have to waste your time and money like I did; if you can, buy once and cry once with the Panasonic UBK820-K. It's more expensive, but this is one of those unfortunate cases where you get what you pay for; the Panasonic won't choke on your discs and this one most likely will. 4k on physical media is worth the hype and you don't deserve to have your experience of it soured by bad tech.

alot bigger than i expected, plays awesome. i only have 1 blu ray atm, played it flawlessly and ive played several dvds in it and have not had any issues. it seems to enhance the picture on dvds, making them more clear. i saw this on sale for $100 and im glad i got it, well worth the money.

Easy setup and operation, user friendly priced right

Easy to use plays every DVD I have put in so far which includes ones from the public library and these DVD’s are not in the greatest shape The low end Samsung’s model I bought at Costco was so buggy I threw it out and it’s also nice to have some controls on the DVD player instead of everything on the remote!! controls

Very simple player, no display on unit (just on tv screen), good quality of picture, ARC feature with your TV (I have this connected with also an LG tv) comes in ip

Needed a 4K player with an optical audio output. Hard to find. But still like my older receiver that lacks HDMI input. So far, so good. The interface for a USB drive full of videos is clumsy. But gets the job done. Seems to get stuck more on Blu-ray than my older Panasonic. But has excellent recovery. After about 5 sec, will advance to good section, rather than requiring a reboot like my older player. I can't fault the player too much, a lot of the disks are well worn library copies.

The player ejects smooth, not clunky, and the features are good.it's a little on the big side, so measure where you are going to put it. The remote it good, but the buttons are a little small. The remote in general along with the buttons could be a little bigger.

We were so sad when our blu ray player that had a sound system broke for the final time. I’m also kinda sad that you can’t buy those anymore. So we bought this one as a replacement. Very good quality so far. I would buy again if needed

Excellent picture day set up remote is too small..

Replaced a Sony 4K with this LG unit due to two fatal flaws (The power button became an op, and the unit would freeze on a particular function which required rebooting). The LG is much preferred. It works perfectly and all the controls/menus are much more intuitive.

Needed 4K player option. Able to buy during great sale period. Works great. Good picture & sound quality. Got excellent price. Love shopping at Best Buy. Very helpful staff.

If you have a smart tv this is a great option. Fast at running any Blu-Ray. Excellent sound and picture. They have added display for time left on movie which is nice. Doesn’t have streaming, but if you have a smart tv no need to pay for it twice. Very pleased with this purchase.

Didn't need all the frills of top model since they are already installed on my LG OLED so I decided to purchase this model instead. The picture is incredible with 4K, Blu-ray, or DVD's. Extremely happy and amazed at the same time!

Nice item but I have give it 4 stars, it comes with a user ready but not good user friendly cord. I like it but if you purchase an additional 4k.. cord u your are SOL.. BUT it plays well and out flat 554 inch make all movie look great in 4k HD bluray with our theater experience sound

I honestly thought I had some DVDs that were just unplayable. We tested a few in my son’s Xbox and they were fine. I just needed to replace a cheap old player. This one is much bigger but worth the space it takes.

Just love the ease of setting up. And of use. Am 70 years old. And doubted I could get it set up. But am pleased to share, I did it. And it’s working exceptionally well with my brand new Samsung 82” QLED HD TV. I’m I. Happy land and so is my wife.

I love my purchase of my new Blue Ray Player. I am impressed with the 4D and the color is amazing. I really notice a big difference and is compatible with my New 70 inch flat scene I just got for Christmas. I look forward to future business other upcoming items thank you.

I'm new to the whole 4K thing, but I love this player . . . which I'm obviously using with a 4K TV. Even regular blu rays and dvds look better on it. A little pricey, but I figured I better have at least one, just in case 4K becomes the new standard.

Performs as expected. Like the compact size of the unit and the remote. Lacks a display button you have to go digging through the menu to see how much time has elapsed. Wait for half price sale.

Mates to our 86” LG television, the TV recognized it right away as a blue ray player. Decent picture. Haven’t messed with all the bells and whistles yet. Pretty darn sad a 2020 model 86” LG tv would be so limited on Apps that one must get an Amazon 4K Fire Stick too....
