LG calls it simplink and I was under the impression that HDMI-CEC was an industry standard for compatibility but the player does not function in conjunction with the Samsung TV remote as my Panasonic 3D player does. My Panasonic 3D player is several years old and I wanted to upgrade to a 4k player to watch movies on my 75" Samsung 4k tv but using the standard remote that comes with the tv is a must for me. Juggling more than one remote means that additional appliances are antiquated technologies in some sense. Optical connection to my Klipsch surround is sketchy at best so I reverted back to connecting the optical audio cable to the tv where again, I can use the tv remote to power on the system and have full control. Green "power on" led is annoying. Video quality is great, the lack of apps is a plus for simplicity but LG really missed the mark on this unit. Now I'm in the market for a 4k player that functions as advertised.

Pairing with LG allow volume match and even allowed TV remote to also be an extra control. will be adding soundbar soon....nice to be able to minimize moving volume so often and much between TV and Blue ray viewing. simplicity is so nice!
