The dryer for the ENERGY STAR® Certified LG Single Unit LG WashTower™ with Center Control™ 5.0 cu. Ft. Front Load Washer and 7.8 cu. Ft. Electric Ventless Heat Pump Dryer, Model # WKHC252HBA, is an Electric Dryer.
Unlike Gas Dryers that come with an attached power cord, for Electric Dryers, even stand-alone Electric Dryers a power cord (pigtail) connection between the wall receptacle and the dryer terminal block IS NOT supplied with them.
The reason that the power cord IS NOT supplied with Electric Dryers is that Electric Dryers have their own terminal block that must be connected to a separate 240 VAC, 60-Hertz, single-phase circuit, fused at 15 amperes. The type of power cord (pigtail) connection between the wall receptacle and the dryer terminal block must conform to your local codes and regulations.
Depending on what your local codes and regulations dictate, you can use a 30-amp, 240-volt, 4-wire, UL-listed power cord with #10 AWG-minimum copper conductor and closed loop or forked terminals
with upturned ends, or a 30-amp, 240-volt, 3-wire, UL-listed power cord with #10 AWG-minimum copper conductor and closed loop or forked terminals with upturned ends.
A 3-wire connection is NOT permitted on new construction after January 1, 1996.
A 4-wire connection must be used where grounding through the neutral conductor is
prohibited for (1) new branch-circuit installations, (2) mobile homes, (3) recreational
vehicles, and (4) areas where local codes prohibit grounding through the neutral conductors.
Just as with your Electrical Range Ovens, this is common among manufacturers, especially in regions like the US. It’s because of variations in the electrical requirements of each appliance, different electrical codes for each region, and varying electrical outlets in the home.
As annoying as that may be, dryer manufacturers don't bother giving you an appliance cord because it might not work for your situation. That's why the cords are sold separately...^Ivan.
