Love my new LG TV. It was an upgrade from a 47 in LG, which I still have and also love. Many great, new features that I'm still exploring. The Geek Squad mounted and did a wonderful job!

I've had the tv now for over 6 months. It has about the best quality picture of any LED tv I've seen in a well lit room. Unfortunately, in a dark room the local dimming does not work very well. In an attempt to keep dark areas of the screen near black (which it does well) the light areas of the screen end up having a large halo glow around them because they just cannot keep up with the large contrast between white pixels and black pixels. It's very distracting when watching the tv in the dark or with dimmed lights. I had the Geek Squad come and try different settings but to no avail. The only suggestion was to turn off the local dimming (which does fix the halo problem) but that rids the tv of its good black levels. The tv then never goes black where it needs to, just has a grey inferior looking picture. The local dimming is an added feature to improve the quality so I have no idea why you would turn it off anyway. Other features of the tv work well. Easy to navigate between smart features like Netflix when connected to the internet. The remote creates a mouse like feature on the tv which you can control with the motion of your hand. Very simple. So only solution is to watch this tv with some lights on. I dim lights to about 40-50% and it still looks good. In bright rooms the tv looks excellent. The exterior of the tv looks good mounted on wall with very thin edge in silver. I also bought a Sony 43" X800D at the same time. I watch it in my bedroom at night all the time. Picture looked perfect straight out of the box in dim or bright room. I'd go with a Sony or splurge for the LG OLED.

This is a great 4K TV that also has 3D. The clarity is amazing. The 3D is great as well. The web 3.0 is great. There are plenty of apps to go around. The remote works very well and is like the WII remote with the wand part. Even though it only has 3 HDMI ports, it still works. The speakers are amazing too.

I upgraded from a 47 inch LCD Samsung. the picture quality is amazing, it makes cable shows look like movie quality. I bought it for the 3D feature it might be me but the jump of the screen like you experence at the theater just does not rally happen so far I have only watched resident evil but the 3D layering is spot on and looks amazing and sometimes the tv while in 2D makes some scenes look 3D.. This TV is 4k with HDR and Ultra High Defition. With 3D. You can get non 3D for a few hundred less. Which I would recmmond if you don't have the rest of the components for 3D. But this TV is amazing.

Even though this TV isn't really pushing the 3D features this is the reason that I bought this set. This is a feature that is soon to be extinct as most manufacturers are not including this feature in their product lines. I will say that after you adjust the picture it looks really nice and the difference between 4k and 1080p is amazing. If I knew that the picture would look this good I would have gotten a 4k TV a long time ago. The upscaling for other resolutions makes everything look fantastic and so life like. I would definitely buy this again.

Picture quality is great and happy that it is 4K and have 3D feature. It is a smart tv, so we didn't need ROKU for it since it has what we need YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon at the least. I like the remote that came with it. Only complaint is that the remote control sometimes turns on our other LG TV than this one.

This was our first 4k. We love the picture quality and the remote. It is rare to find a TV that still had 3D. We like that the remote has a controllable pointer. We are very happy with the purchase.

A set worth considering if you're looking for a 4k TV but good luck finding one. It has been discontinued by LG. With the lone exception of the OLED models from LG, you'don't be hard pressed to find a better 4k TV. It's picture is excellent as is the remote and app offerings from LG. The only criticisms I have of this TV is visual viewing area could be better and the picture in a bright room needs improvement. An added benefit, only offered by LG at this time, is Dolly Vision. Both Netflix and Amazon's streaming 4k programing are broadcast in Dolby Vision and 4k disks will soon be available in Dolby Vision. Since Dolby Vision is a second 4k format, it's an added benefit to have it. Here's the downside, the Samsung k8500 blu-ray player doesn't interact well with an LG set. It will automatically disable some of your picture settings. It may also do this on other non Samsung 4k TVs. I'd strongly recommend waiting for the Panasonic UB 900 or Philips first 4k player before you buy a 4k blu-ray player. The UB 900 will be available from Best Buy in September and has gotten remarkable reviews. The Phillips unit is due in stores in October.

I was looking for a 55-inch 3-D TV to replace a damaged Samsung model. I decided on the LG 5UH8500 based on price and features. Fantastic picture quality for the price. 3D and simulated 3D work great! Easy setup and great on-line features.

TV is amazing. I got it mainly for the 3D and the size. The picture is crystal clear, the 3D is perfect and just what I wanted. I love the magic remote and all the apps are super quick to open. Netflix, Vudu, Hulu all look great in HD. I have to say though, there are only 2 glasses, and for the price I would think at least 4 glasses should be included. Also there is just a little pixelation around edges of people, and I had to turn off the trumotion because of the pixelation. But I love this TV and am so glad I bought it.

LG 55UH8500 This is an all-around excellent television with a great picture and wide viewing area. It does require some setup of the picture settings for your specific viewing environment. Read the manual! If you don’t like to, or can’t read a manual, then have someone else set it up for you. But don’t complain about the picture in a review if you haven’t done any work for it. Not all rooms are the same. You can try some of the settings that other reviewers have posted. Many are good neutral setups and do a good job of explaining why the user tried those settings, but play around with all of the picture settings. Take some notes, compare your adjustments, and if you don’t like what you did, reset it back the factory default. The WebOs 3.0 is great and easy to use. The Amazon and Netflix interfaces are very easy to use and I really appreciate the superfast loading of a show; however, it does lead to more binge watching than you will realize while doing it. The Ultra HD 4K on YouTube, Amazon, and Netflix look great. You can easily get sucked into the vortex of time-lapse drone footage on YouTube, so be careful. While watching Stranger Things on Netflix, my wife mentioned that it actually looked like it was in 3D. The 3D feature is amazing! I upgraded from a 42” Vizio 3D HDTV and this is a major step forward. Yeah, I was one of those that got hooked on 3D from the very beginning. I have way too many 3D movies, all of the Marvel movies, Star Trek, The Hobbit, and just about everything else released on 3D, even those generic “This is the Universe” discs. Watching all of the other manufacturers ditch the technology was somewhat distressing so I jumped on the upgrade while it was still available. I decided to get this instead of the OLED because of the price. I could almost get three of these for the price of one OLED. The OLED picture is stupidly cool, but I couldn’t explain the price to my wife or my checking account. So, if you are in the market for a new 4K UHD TV and have a bunch of 3D movies, get this TV. If you like watching sports with friends and have a wide L shaped sofa, get this TV.

The upscaling on this tv is good on 1080i and 1080p. The upscaling is decent on 720p. Recently watched some 4k content on Netflix. I was impressed with how smooth the content was. Especially watching Marco Polo in Dolby Vision something that only 3 TV companies are using. I have yet to watch any 3D blu rays. the 2D to 3D feature works properly and is unique if you want to turn non-3D into 3D content. The 40W Harmon/Kardon speakers are sufficient for a bedroom. Soundbar or other audio is recommended for larger rooms or if you want better voice separation.

LG has stepped up their game and is a great alternative to samsung and sony which always cost a few hundred more. 4k picture looks amazing and as well as hdr. Even the 3d looks amazing. WebOS is easy to navigate and i like the magic remote. If you are looking in this price range you can go wrong with this tv.

Was reading the reviews for a number of 4k tv's and looking for the right one for the right price. After extensive research the HDR (high dynamic range) is a MUST when looking to buy a 4k tv. Clarity is amazing when watching movies and playing XBOX one S games. Gears of war 4 looks great with it. What made me decide on this tv also is it's 3D option also. I enjoy a few 3D movies in theaters, now I can watch it in the comfort of my home. Excellent tv I definitely recommend this TV. Excellent for XBOX ONE S .

I absolutely love my LG 55UH8500 TV! The HDR and Dolby Vision capabilities are amazing! The only thing I can complain about is that since this is edge lit, the local black dimming is not as effective since it lights up an entire band from bottom to top when there is one little word one the screen. But I would still recommend this TV!

did alot of research on this particular model along with other brands as well, decided to choose this model due to the fact that its both hdr 10 and dobly vision compatible, which means its set for future 4k content! (samsung and sony are only compatible with hdr 10 not dobly) watched the movie gravity on this tv in 3d blew me away. great picture and sound. could not afford oled so this was next best thing
