I spent a lot of time researching this decision online before heading in-store. I wanted the absolute best picture quality I could afford but didn't care about much else in terms of 3d or curved screens. I knew walking in I was doing 4k and HDR, since my main reason for upgrading was being annoyed at my ~6-year-old Samsung's poor image quality in dark scenes. It looks pretty good for news and such with the lights on, but in a dark home-theater setting it was, frankly, disappointing, which I something I never thought about when buying it at Target in Black Friday madness. This time I wanted to buy something I wouldn't be wanting to upgrade after just a few years. I went in to compare the picture quality on stuff in the same $500-800 range I'd bought in a few years ago, and realized a lot of the benefit of HDR is lost on the screens at the bottom of the HDR price range. The store was busy since it was Holiday season, and all the blue shirts were busy for a while A Sony rep convinced me to look at the next step up, in the $800-1000 range, and I could see immediately that for dark room settings, you could really see a difference. After comparing the image quality on the LG with the top of the line Sony Bravia XBR55X930D, I knew I wanted the OLED instead. I planned to wait for closeout sales or something but they had an open box for the same 1500 as the Sony, so I snapped it up. A month in, I really have no complaints. I got the Samsung UHD Blu-Ray, and the extended cut of The Martian, and it really was stunning to see the color depth, even in a film that's mostly just shades of red. NFL games look great, with no motion blur or any upscaling issues I can detect. I also haven't noticed any washout when leaving news on as I'm up and about with windows open and bright sun in the room. PC gaming at 1080p looks fine, and 4k PC video looks great, although my media center pc isn't powerful enough to game at 4k, so I can't comment on performance at 60fps vs input lag in that scenario. I know there were firmware updates for this so I'm confident those issues will be resolved in time anyway. The magic remote is really cool and convenient. I wind up swapping between it and my Logitech Harmony 650 since the Smart remote is WAY better than the harmony 650 in terms of having air mouse and voice support. One minor annoyance is that the USB ports are always powered, so lighting kits have to be turned on and off instead of activating with TV power. I picked up a BASON LED backlighting kit for 55-inch tv's on Amazon, and it really is the perfect complement. It reduces eye strain in the dark, and it eliminates the need to flip on a light to find your drink or see your way to the restroom. Since I chose a kit that covers all 4 sides, It was a little tricky getting all the wires hidden, and you can see the LED backlighting from the side due to how close to the edge I had to mount it. Since it's a smart TV, I don't need my old Chromecast or fireTV stick, which would have benefitted from always-on power. I wish there was at least an option to have the USB powered only when the tv is. The only issue with the open box item was that I realized the mounting screws for the base were missing. Fortunately, standard VESA screws are easy to come by, and I had some spares from a monitor mount. I feel like I saved $500 just for scrounging 4 screws! I wound up with the tv+2 year geek squad coverage for less than the tv's sale price, so I feel confident if I have issues from the open-box deal I'll have plenty of time to get them resolved. Finding deals like this is why I always try heading in-store before making a purchase.

Initially, I was hesitant to purchase a 4k UHD/smart TV because, I didn't think the improvement in clarity was that big of a deal. Certainly not like the change from standard definition to HD and besides ... there isn't that much 4k programing available out there right now anyway. -- However when my wife wanted a TV in the basement to do Tai Chi, I thought maybe this was the time to give it a try. So we moved the old Sony and I started looking. -- When I saw LG OLED and read the consensus rave reviews , I was sold and Best Buy's sales promotion and 24 mo /same as cash financing sealed the deal. -- I expected the performance of the unit be sterling and without flaw and it is . But what I didn't expect was how it improved the clarity of my old standard definition DVD recordings. The LG OLED has completely enhanced and improved my viewing enjoyment. My jaw literally dropped. I totally endorse the LG B6 55 and recommend it to anyone who enjoys quality video.

Move over, Samsung. LG makes the best 4K televisions now. I love the picture on this screen. OLED makes the color black in dark movies (Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean etc.) stand out like no other technology. I am noticing new details in everything I watch, even movies I have seen numerous times.

Tv is fantastic. However, in the last couple of months a few black spots have formed and have gotten bigger and bigger over time. It is covered by geek squad and I will get it fixed/replaced by another lg oled. Bad luck I guess

This LG OLED 4K tv is fantastic. The colors just blow away anything else in the market to date. The details on the screen are so sharp. It is super thin and the Geek Squad did a super job mounting it above our fire place.

I expected better from a $2000 dollar Tv (purchased 2yrs ago). The first problem was after 4 months of use the screen went out, so they replaced the panel. Now theres like a ghost image on the bottom of the screen, so once again the panel needs to be replaced. other then that nice TV

It's a beautiful clear, almost too real, picture. It's rare to find DVDs for it...& when you do it's not really a movie you want to watch. If you have that cable - yes go for it. I paid $2500 and I don't feel like I wasted a cent. The tv is spectacularly thin! The picture quality is perfect. I would recommend this to everyone. I would recommend this to an enemy.

This was my first real flatscreen TV purchase and the moment I saw it on display at the store I knew this was an amazing tv. I got a great deal on it during black friday and just knew it had to be mine. Quick to set up and get it hooked up to the wireless network. The pointer for the remote isn't exactly where the remote points; but you get used to it pretty quick. I've only watched the tv through my local cable company's broadcasts. HD only. I've yet to watch anything 4k or even a regular BluRay; but if this tv looks half as amazing with the higher end video then I will be beyond thrilled. The colors are absolutely amazing and the blacks are black. The clarity and beauty make even my regular favorite shows on TV look so much more different it's like a whole new show. The only thing i've run across so far is when I watched Charlie Brown Christmas some of the movements of the characters seemed to go in slow motion. I believe that's ghosting; but it's very minor and is the only time i've noticed it. It's probably something that the tv is doing to an old cartoon while i have the UHD turned on and all the way up. May just be a compatibility issue. Like I said before everything i've watched otherwise has been outstanding and I don't have any regrets. Sure, i know you can spend 3 or 4k or more on an even better tv; but this one for this price is absolutely stunning. I honestly don't think you can go wrong.

OLED televisions are not cheap. There are plenty of less expensive ways to get a 4K Smart TV. But, when you enjoy the picture quality of the LG sets, you will appreciate every extra dollar you invested. It goes without saying that every review mentions the black levels, and the level of detail in shadows is outstanding, and when the show or picture fades to black - its exactly black, you cannot see where the TV screen edge is. Color replication is perfect, and no doubt a professional calibration could improve, i've found the built in expert settings give me very satisfactory results. I'm using a Tivo Roamio as source for live TV, Sony Blu-Ray player and the built in Smart Apps for streaming services. The built-in Netflix and Amazon Video apps support 4K HDR. I watch a lot of shows streamed, and my old Panasonic 720P plasma would show bands of color (particuarly with gray), but the LG OLED has non of those drawbacks - streaming from Hulu or Netflix looks as good as broadcast 1080i sources. For audio, I am routing through my Bose Soundbar, so haven't assesed the built in speakers. I deliberated this purchase for weeks, weighing the upfront expense, and potential disappointment if I'd chosen a cheaper TV. I have no regrets whatsoever.

When I first started looking for a new 4k flat panel I wanted one that was top notch. I initially looked at the top of the line Samsungs and Sonys. One thing I noticed on all of the Led panels was they were somewhat overly bright and harsh on the eyes. Because of this the colors on all of them left something to be desired. And the blacks were ok but not correct. Then I noticed the OLED LG. This stopped me in my tracks. The picture quality was so far beyond any of the other panels displayed in Best Buy that it wasnt even a competition.. This flat panel simply blows everything else away. The blacks are incredible, colors jump off the screen I couldnt be happier. Add to that it has standard HDR and Dolbyvision HDR . The remote allows me to control my Tv, Dvr set top cable box, and new Yamaha A/V reciever. I could go one forever but suffice to say you cannot go wrong with this 55 inch beauty. And I saved over $700.00 with the Black Friday sale Beat Buy had. So for a few dollars more than the competition I got something really special. If you have eyes you can see the huge difference in picture quality. And yes I bought the rocketfish tilt wall mount and it fits this tv fine.

Let me preface this review by saying that for the past 4 years, I lived in an apartment in Germany after moving from NJ. We had limitations there regarding TVs, and I said once I move back to the States, I'm buying the biggest and best TV I can find (that fits our entertainment center). I quickly discovered the LG OLED TV and the reviews and information I read about it described it as the best television so far ever created. I usually don't believe the hype, but I was ready to purchase it. We had to go with the 55" model based on our limitation of the entertainment center and went with the flat panel. The setup was intuitive and straightforward. The magic remote does take a little time getting used to.. it's like a WII controller. After it was all said and done... this TV is truly amazing. The picture is crystal clear, the colors are popping, and the blacks are very dark. It is a great viewing experience. The sound quality is good, but limited to the thin television itself. We recently purchased a Sonos Playbase to add to the sound. This is by far the best TV I have ever owned!

Had decided years ago that my nextTV would be OLED. A friend bought the top model of this series for nearly $8000 but not within my price range. I love my TV's but not as much as some of the AV hardcore's. So read all the reviews on this set described as the entry level of this LG OLED series. Universal reviews were all extremely high. Went to my local BB and saw it up close. The 55 not only a perfect size for me but also the center located stand meant that I could keep my current stand which I love. I watched and watched and finally got it at a reasonable price. Put it on my BB CC for reward certificate rather than no interest. Also took the long extended warranty. With OLED tech and TV cost really a no brainer having longest extended. TV itself, simply put, I am ecstatic. Even though I could have bought curved 3d same price I decided I wanted neither, both fads to me. Out of box this TV had gorgeous picture, no calibration needed for me. Though I would normally have buyers remorse spending big bucks when many great 4K tv's out there much less expensive no problem here. I just love this set so much have no remorse. Had a problem programming my FIOS remote but finally realized you have to find good Verizon remote instructions and follow them meticulously. Once I did programmed perfectly. LG's own remote easy and love pointer. I am not one that wants to play with all these settings, and there are many if you want them. Standard is perfect out of box for me. There is a plastic covering back top half of TV that I read about and couldn't figure what they were talking about removing. I kept looking saw nothing, one of those screen type packing coverage you peel off only back upper half. Finally a tiny piece bubbled and I realized had to peel this off.

This is by far the best TV I have ever purchased. The picture quality is amazing, with the deepest blacks and unprecedented contrast level. OLED technology is the next generation, and its here to stay with more manufactures now jumping on board. HD content looks amazing, but 4K HDR content is unbelievable. PS4 games in HDR also look fantastic, and with the new firmware updates there is no noticeable input lag. The WebOS interface for TV apps (like Netflix, Amazon Video, You Tube, etc.) works very well and is extremely user friendly. It's probably one of the best TV user interfaces I have seen or used. The only downside is if you are looking for 3D capability, this TV has none. However, you could opt for the LG C6 model which is the same TV but curved and with 3D. And yes, while the price may also be considered a downside compared to other 4K HDR TVs, I can confidently say that you get what you pay for. My only regret is not buying this TV sooner

Let me start by saying I first purchased the Samsung KS8000 65 inch based on a few reviews. The picture was terrible on the Samsung, even 4K streaming looked grainy and had a fake look to it. I returned the Samsung for the LG OLED 55 inch based on the store display and all the reviews say this is the best TV you can buy. I sacrificed screen size for picture quality and was it the best decision ever. The OLED is mind blowing, I've never knew how much true black level enhance your viewing experience. One truly can not describe this TV with words. The Samsung had ghosting on fast moving scenes, I've seen ZERO motion issue with this unit. If the picture quality could be better I honestly couldn't imagine it. Don't even consider any other screen technology other than OLED. I got this unit on sale at 1900 and that's an expensive price for a 55 inch I know, but it's worth every penny. I would have like to had the 65 inch but 3500 just wasn't in my budge for a TV. If you can't afford a OLED TV I recommend saving until you can, or if you have a budge around 2000 but where wanting a large screen I highly recommend sacrificing screen size to get the 55 inch OLED. My HD cable service looks so close to 4K it's crazy. Buy OLED or keep your money in your pocket because everything else is a disappointment.
