After 13 years the old Philips led 42” 720p tv finally quit. Time for an upgrade! Thought I would go the cheap route and buy a TCL, but after scouring the reviews decided to keep looking. Looked at Samsung 9 series but they don’t offer a 55” version, which is the largest that would fit on the wall of my small living room. Other options just don’t compare to the quality of the OLED, and there was a good sale at the time. Picture quality is just amazing! Upscaling is excellent, making even 480i sources from local tv stations look decent. Colors and brightness are great. TV is in a room with several windows, so it gets quite bright during the day. No problems at all with brightness. The LG OLED really shines with Dolby Vision and HDR content. Images just pop from the screen. Blacks and dark scenes are incredible, sometimes leaving me wondering if the tv has turned off. Turn off the lights at night and the picture is extraordinary. No more pale gray backlight like an led. Sound is quite impressive from the built-in 4 speaker sound system. Was considering purchasing a sound bar with the tv but now glad I didn’t. If you like it loud, add a good quality sound bar with sub or surround sound system but for everyday listening, the built in speakers are more than satisfactory. TV is mounted to the wall using a Dynex 18” swivel mount. TV panel is incredibly thin with the top half being a few millimeters thick! Bottom half houses the electronics and speakers making it a couple inches thick. Mounting holes for wall bracket are on the bottom half of the tv rather than being centered, so keep that in mind if you’re roughing in electric or bracket location without having tv on hand. No regrets!

Fantastic colors and depth with XBox and AppleTV

Color: It's a fantastic TV for XBox and 4K gaming. I did have an issue getting XBox to work and found it was an incompatible HDMI cable. Got a HDMI 1.2 cable and all is good. Sound: I don't care about TV sound, and use a soundbar. BUT, when this TV was on the stand I found the sound to be kind of surprising in volume (gets loud) and clarity. Then I hung it on the wall...and the sound is not so great and sounds boxy. The stand has a curve to it that funnels the sound toward the viewer, and wehn hung, that curved stand is gone so it shoots it all down and the back of the TV gets echo-y. Back to the soundbar. Remote: Works great and is fast to respond. It even stands straight up. Power on: Wow, this TV powers up and is ready so much faster than my previous Vizio. Like, up and ready in 5 seconds. Wall mounting: So, since the TV bezel is so thin (very very thin) that actual screen can bend very easily. When you wall mount this, you do NOT want to us the TV to move it around since you end up bending the screen and putting that much force on it is not good. I find I have to use the bottom of the TV since it a couple inches thick there, or grab the mount behind the TV to move it around. Angle of viewing: This part is insane—you can still see the picture in full color from the side. If you can see the screen you get the full experience, there is negligible degradation of quality from any virtually angle. Glare might be an issue, but other than that this is a fantastic TV for side /angled viewing, if you must. NOTE: There is a thin piece of protective shipping film on the back of the TV (the thin top half. Be sure to remove this! There is no sticker or marking to let you know. Word has it that is left on this can cause heat issues with the screen. The bezel / case helps dissipate heat and this traps it in.

Debated a long time about what TV to upgrade to from my KS8000. I was going to go with the Hisense H9G but it was not in stock in the 55" version. Then the B9 popped up as an open box for $780 and after calling and seeing it was a customer return because they wanted a bigger TV, I decided to go for it. It had the remote, stand, everything except the box. This is my first OLED tv and so far, so good. My wife and I watched Hamilton this weekend and it was stunning. The contrast was amazing. It took me a few days to learn all the settings and the remote, but now that I am familiar with everything, I find it quite easy. Coming from the Samsung, Dolby Vision seems to be a nice upgrade picture wise. About the only thing I have noticed on the downside so far it that the OLED isn't as bright in HDR as my KS8000 could be depending on material. Contrast however makes up for the lower brightness and the HDR/DV content is still quite "punchy". I have never realized how bad the viewing angles were on the led tv's until I got an OLED as well. The blacks are still black even at about a 45 degree angle. I hope burn-in won't be an issue - the TV has some things that help prevent it and as long as you don't want same show all the time, you should be fine. I got a 2 year extended Geek Squad warranty just in case.

Spend that extra money for a quality OLED TV. Picture is amazing, magic remote controls all your devices. Blacks are Black not grayish like other high end TVs. I have 2 OLED’s and I super love them. My friends come over and are amazed with the crazy awesome picture. 4K movies on Netflix, on Apple TV and on Amazon Firesticks are out of this world with HDR, Dolby Vision

After living with this TV over a year: Best TV I have owned by far, and generally still better than any I see when I'm out at a store or visiting someone. The OLED screen is just so superior...perfect blacks, plenty bright for a daylight room, super contrast and detail, wide color, just very realistic looking. No bad pixels anywhere. My only gripe is with the LG ThinQ app, which is pretty much useless, but I don't care. I use a soundbar and sub, but the TV sound is pretty darned good without it if that matters to you.

This is the third LG OLED tv I have purchased. This one is super slim and the sound has improved from the first model I bought. I love the 4K Dolby vision and HDR settings. The picture is clear and the blacks are black! The tv could be on with a black screen but I would never know it because it isn’t producing the blacks so it looks like the screen is off. I use the tv for gaming also and it works great. However when watching NFL the football still disappears from the screen during passes. I haven’t seen a tv that doesn’t do that though. Anyways great quality and great price.

Believe the hype - this TV is near perfect. Picture quality cannot be beat nor overstated. The WebOS interface is intuitive and snappy - though missing a few apps like HBOMax. I've grown to really like the magic remote as well. Burn in has not been an issue at all but I do not play games for hours on it nor have a computer hooked to it. I feel under normal to heavy TV watching it isn't a problem at all.

OLED is mind-blowing if you are going from a several-years-old TV. The 4K and pure blacks are game changing. If you are gaming you will never want to go back. This model features HDMI 2.1. It can do 120hz HDR (like with Ps5 and Xbox). At this point (Jan 2021) you can probably actually find a BX for cheaper than this. But the B9 is still good. OLED for life!

I purchased this tv for the Oled and the smart features, including future proofing with HDMI 2.1 and Nvidia Gsync. After one month I have some thoughts: - picture is incredible. OLED is truly unrivaled to other competing display technologies. - brightness is not an issue. It is brighter than my previous LED tv. - it does not need a sound bar, though I wish there were a setting that could prevent sharp spikes in volume. (Could be there is but I have not found any settings for it) sometimes it is too quiet to hear and then suddenly the content you are viewing becomes too loud when there are sound effects like explosions. - it is heavy. Definitely need two people to set up. - The smart features are way beyond previous Lg models. The smart remote is fantastic. - no burn in. I don’t leave it on the same screen for hours at a time, so I don’t worry about it. - it is pricey for your average tv, but it is not an average TV. It is one of the best on the market. - rtings.com gave this tv a fantastic review. I recommend checking out their reviews.

Spent $900 two years ago on a Vizio P - Series.. Here I was yet again shopping for TV's, I was going to buy a cheap 4k TV for about $500-600 because I didn't want to spend another $900+ for a TV. Well............ After researching TV's I decided to destroy my bank account and purchase an OLED B9... You get what you pay for... PICTURE 10/10 is the best I have ever seen on a TV, clear 4k pictures with DEEP blacks and colors the POP. It's SO clear you can see small details that you normally would never see on other sets. SOUND 10/10: from the Speakers are ROCKING.. I do not need a soundbar... STREAMING APPS 10/10: Lots of apps to choose from, fast loading times, clean interface. Easy Navigation. Magic Remote: 9/10 Mouse navigation makes selecting apps simple, One Click access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Voice Control. BUILD QUALITY 9/10 Plastic stand ( for $1,400 it should be metal ) Stand wobbles but not much, Very Thin, Overall this is one of the best TV you can buy..

Bought this on Black Friday after looking at several options. Initially was thinking more in the 500-700 range but with all of the features and what I use it for this ended up being the one. My only concern was potential burn in but I vary my usage between consoles, cable tv and streaming. Also did plenty of research and feel good about it not occurring. The picture is absolutely amazing and the new Star Wars game looks incredible through my One X. The brief bit of movies I have watched were also great. The apps on the tv are snappy and work well. The magic pointer function of the TV takes a little getting used to but is nice once you do. For gamers specifically the hdmi 2.1 is nice bit of future proofing when the next consoles hit. I know some are concerned about this model being able to do 120 hz at 4K HDR. I shared this concern but one of the reputable YouTube reviewers commented and said he spoke with high level LG engineers and they said it would be able to. Obviously this can’t be tested at the moment but it was nice to hear. Overall, if you’re on the fence or considering something slightly cheaper I would tell you to reconsider. Especially for gamers and movie lovers.

Good for plasma replacement, but not as good

I came from using a Panasonic Plasma that was dying. The Plasma is still much better than any thing available. Motion for me on Plasma (at estimated 600hz) was perfect, like reality. * I got an exceptional deal for an open box model that only came with a normal remote, versus the voice/smart remote that normally comes with this tv. "Voice" remote can use voice commands but also IS USED TO CALIBRATE THE SOUND so sound cannot be calibrated without the "Smart Remote". Best Buy Staff was GREAT!!! VERY GREAT BUYING EXPERIENCE!!!! Thank you! NOTE that I have had the tv for 3 weeks and took several days, up to a week and lots of reading and tuning trials to get image settings the way my wife and I like. Its very good now, but should be much easier to get a "natural" looking image versus over enhanced and inconsistent. PROS: Great viewing angles NEVER END! (this was big for me as my plasma had this too) Picture clear to all edges. Many internet options but I don't use many of them. Blacks are REALLY. BLACK ....unrealistically BLACK, like a cave with no light. WHITES can be like a camera flash bright... can be too much. Internet via Ethernet is flawless (I don't use the wireless) Antenna channels very good. SOUND IS INCREDIBLE after it gets "tuned" (Sound is computer controlled and gets better the longer the tv is used... it adjusts by your user experience, but IS INCREDIBLE!!! Motion handling is pretty good, but not near as good as the plasma. Clarity is EXCELLENT. UP-CONVERSION seems good although most of what I watch is 720 and 1080. If you plug peripherals into TV it will auto-recognize them (but if using an AVR/Media Reciever it gets confusing). CONS: Quite complicated to get consistent good tv picture setting. With all the computer enhancements, the picture can change on its own between scenes. Best settings are minimal enhancements. The "pop" that is regularly advertised for many tv's is exceptional for this tv however it's sometimes overbearing, unrealistic... more pop than reality... unnatural. I have sensitive eyes and the whites can be blinding. With computer "learning" (LG calls this "Ai") the picture seems to become more stable, predictable from source to source OVER TIME due to the "learning" of the TV. Doesn't play well with AVR (Yamaha) that hosts my audio & video components (I got it to work, but it falsely labels my AVR). No Chrome cast or screen sharing for my 10 yr old laptop. (Been told that newer laptops can?) * I WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN and Best Buy associates were GREAT! - The picture now is VERY good, just be patient, and its the closest to plasma available today and I am pleased.

If youre patient, the best thing to do is look at tv's for a month or two before you decide...which i did. Theres a huge debate between qled and oled tv's. I swore over and over, that i made the right choice when i bought my mom the king of the hill...Samsung 55'in 8k Qled 900. After watching it nearly a year,i researched the Lg B9 55in. OLED. I then watched it in the store....and the Oled did it for me. Both amazing tv's. Dark backgrounds ARE better on the oled and the sound is better too. Not to mention, the samsung qled 900 was $2,500...and the b9 was $1,300. Ive had it nearly 3 weeks now,and still amazed, playing with the settings, just a high quality,"leave you speechless tv". Heres a helpful hint: when doing all your settings, such as picture,color,sound,etc...you do it by holding your finger down on the mute button...and it all comes up. LG has the C9 too,but there isnt really a difference in the two...but $2-$300 more. Easily the best tv ive ever bought.my friend is getting one soon too. You rarely will see a bad review on the LG B9 OLED. You'lle love it

This TV was researched heavily. I have never purchased anything but Samsung LEDs. The reviews don't really do this tv justice. Remote is especially nice. Lots of free channels. Calibration of colors is a bit tricky. Patience is required as well as lots of practice viewing! Sharp looking and easy to set up. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a versatile display. Don't worry about burn in as long as you don't keep sports banners and such up for hours on end. It has a feature though just in case you have an issue that should get rid of most burn in as long is caught quickly. Enjoy!

This is a beautiful TV. The colors and brightness and contrast are like nothing else. It’s an OLED TV, so that’s no surprise. I’ve watched a lot of basketball on it so far and done a lot of 4K gaming on it so far (Forza Horizon 4 on XBOX One X), and I’ve been very impressed. If you want a nice TV for 4K gaming, you will be happy with this TV. I was worried that the 60htz refresh rate would maybe hold it back from being superb, but I haven’t been able to notice any trails or jumpiness or blurriness in any of the gaming or sports that I’ve watched so far. Everything has been smooth and crisp. I do feel like the picture quality of my cable service (xfinity) isn’t the greatest on this TV. My previous Samsung 4K TV had a crisper picture when watching cable. But you really can’t tell unless you are up close. My only complaint is the sound. The speakers sound okay, and they can go loud, but it just doesn’t have the greatest of quality sound, even after figiting with all the settings. I’ve also been having trouble getting it to communicate with my Sony STR-DG800 amplifier. The TV has a setting for optical sound output, but sometimes it just doesn’t work and I’ve had to power cycle each a few times for them to communicate. Not sure if the amp is too old or if the software on the TV isn’t that solid, but it’s been kind of a pain. Never had any problem with previous Samsung 4K TV though. I would probably recommend getting a quality sound bar that is designed for this TV. Other than the sound, this TV is pretty awesome. It’s super sturdy and has a very solid construction. It’s My first OLED TV and I am impressed with the picture.

Had this TV for ~ 1 year now. Superb picture and very natural remote and user interface (UI). Fast response and showed very nice compatibility with Spectrum Cable box (got rid of that 4 months ago for YouTube TV), except that you have to restart the box and TV sometimes as the box can't display straight picture to the TV (Blurry). I say almost perfect since its a WebOS rather than Android. Providers do not release all apps to WebOS, but they do to Android based TVs. e.g., ESPN, is NOT on LG. So, for an OLED TV, I'd move to android based TVs, such as SONY. However, since LGs are ~ 10-20% cheaper than SONY, you can buy the new Google Chromcast android and use it with LG, however, you loose the very nice LG remote and UI they have. Its a personal choice.

This TV is dynamite! The picture is beautiful and we can finally see what is going on during dark scenes in movies. Outlast tv was good, but movie night was getting ruined when we had to turn off all of the lights just to try and see what was going on during dark scenes (or scenes in outer space... like in Star Wars movies). Anyway, the user interface is okay, and to too hard to figure out. the remote reminds me of the Nintendo Wii from 2006, and the built in computer is no slouch. With that said, the TV is expensive. Wait for it to go on sale (or clearance) and pounce on it when you get the chance. I really lucked out and this tv for $700, but anything under $1000 is a deal for this fantastic TV.

We first purchased an OLED TV about 4-6 years ago for our living/family room. And OH, the clarity, the beauty of movies and shows were unsurpassed. Fast forward to late Nov 2019 we decided we needed & wanted this one for our bedroom. The TV in our bedroom was purchased from Best Buy in 2009, and while still useful we could not help comparing to the newer OLED originally purchased. So we were excited about the sale & purchased this model... if possible this newest LG OLED may be even better than our older model. The color, the clarity etc and lots of other bells and whistles too. We have been streaming for years. This is a must if like us you prefer to watch movies and shows at home rather than in crowds and theaters.

We tried the 55 inch Samsung QLED 70 Series for a few days but I could never get comfortable with the picture despite much fine tuning. It was okay, but it just did not "pop". Best Buy graciously accepted the return and we exchanged for the 55 inch LG OLED B9. All I can say is that this picture is fantastic. Beautiful colors, great contrast, deep blacks. Yes, it turned out to be a bit more expensive, but it is definitely worth it. I normally do not write reviews, but the quality of this TV demands it. By the way, Best Buy really has its act together with the buying experience using curbside pickup during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have nothing but good things to say about it.
