Unbelievable Quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is downright gorgeous. I purchased this set in anticipation of the PS5 and boy is it the perfect setup. The picture quality is unlike anything I’ve experienced. I had a mid-range Samsung 4K HDR tv before this one and it just goes to show, a TV is more than just its 4K specs. I am never going back to a screen that does not have perfect blacks like this LG OLED. The colors pop and the HDR shines with the inherent high contrast ratio. Even the sound system is serviceable enough that I don’t feel compelled to purchase a sound bar. As I said, it’s also the perfect TV for the PS5 too. It allows for games to be played up to 4K 120Hz using HDMI 2.1. Playing Spider-man Miles Morales at 4K 60fps was an unreal experience and I can’t wait to pick up a game that supports 120Hz. While this TV is certainly an investment, I think it’s totally worth it. But be warned, once you choose OLED, you may never see a traditional LCD screen the same way again.

Incredible image
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always wanted an OLED screen and decided it was time. Beautiful image, esp gaming with PS5. OLED is the best image quality money can buy. Perfect blacks, excellent colors and contrast, HDR, low latency, supports 4k@120 on all hdmi outputs. I was suprised the audio sounded pretty good too. Magic remote is ok but I find myself favoring click input over the pointer. Was worried about lights glaring because on the store display it was strong, but in home it just isn't an issue. I was afraid during install that the screen would shatter because it is super thin while the bottom half is fairly heavy. It installed good tho. So far, very satisfied. My previous LG tv lasted a long time and was still working when i got this so well see if they still produce the same quality.

Movies look better than you thought possible!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has been about a month since my purchase of the LG CX 55" OLED. I play video games on it and they have never looked better. Having all HDMI 2.1 inputs and HDR is future proof technology. It has given me two updates since ownership that have improved the performance and picture quality. Don't buy in to the "burn in" hysteria, it is intelligent enough to automatically turn a screen saver on when it knows you're not watching it. The user interface is seamless and all your apps are available at the point of the remote (quite handy). This TV has super fast refresh rates with the best looking colors and they fit it into a panel that is the thickness of 5 stacked credit cards. This TV does not heat up my room like some others I've owned which leads me to believe that LG really spent the time and money on all the components used, this value shows. This level of quality is a bargain at the pricepoint. I seem to only have a couple cons about this TV and they're all subjective. One being that I don't have enough room under/in-front of it for my soundbar and it lacks any points on the top for mounting it. This is something that should not steer you away, the LG does have good enough audio out of the box. But for some cine-philes out there, these speakers don't pack the punch to give you that immersion- if the picture quality isn't already enough for you to forget about sound quality for a couple hours at a time. One other nitpick, the fact that if your in a bright room, reflections may cause viewing angles to be compromised. Big windows, are the kryponite to this panel, its ultra reflective coating does limit the amount of the wandering reflections minimizing total area that will be compromised. Really surprised about the overall brightness of this panel, certainly the Samsung panels offer a bit more brightness at the impact of more gray looking blacks. If you're looking for a TV that can handle your movies without making it look like a soap opera, this is it. Seriously, I am lucky to watch this TV everyday. 10/10 recommended

2020 did not disappoint
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first experience with an OLED tv and I can assure you that it does not disappoint. I had to adjust a few picture/sound settings out the box to minimize “jittering” in standard HD options on Netflix (the office), but the HDR gaming mode and Dolby vision settings only required minor tweaking from their default calibration. I typically don’t write reviews but I figured I would since I spent countless hours deciding between this LG CX OLED and the new Samsung QLED series. I decided to go with LG simply because the OLED technology is more advanced and Samsung seems to be putting less emphasis on their 4K QLED’s this year. I went with the CX over last year’s C9 for a few reasons: it was on sale (probably due to the fact that BestBuy had originally priced it at $1999 which is $200 more than the MSRP of $1799), and I hoped/assumed the “burn in” fear would become less and less of a risk as LG perfects their OLED’s. I can’t speak to the quality of the new Samsung’s, but if you’re on the fence between this and the competition - Samsung in particular - you will not be disappointed in your choice to go with the LG CX. The contrast during dark scenes due to OLED technology is incredible and unless you have a home theatre sound system, I found the need for a sound bar to be a non factor as the tv speakers are pleasantly well calibrated. I must also note that unless you’re planning on mounting your tv you will have a hard time finding a sound bar slim enough to put in front on it - the tv sits very low on its stand (1-2 inches off surface). Overall, this tv deserves the 5-star review. Well done LG.

Best TV for gaming in my opinion.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.5 on image, FPS and gaming. Def recommend. I want to buy the CS version, but the CX is just as good, if not better. The quality is dope, my remote broke and I've been using the remote app for it. It's essentially incredible for gaming on PS5 and the Xbox Series X. The games look incredible AND it has a 120 hz refresh that allows 120 FPS gaming. I honestly don't see a difference in 60 and 120 FPS gaming but you can do it lol. Best TV I've ever had.

OLED for the Win!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After years of sitting on the fence, I can say I wish I'd gone OLED sooner. The picture quality is just phenomenal, even during the day in my bright ambient light family room. Blacks are simply fantastic which aids in delivering amazing contrast and color representation, and Dolby Vision HDR is dynamic and brilliant with the wide gamut color range. Netflix has never looked so good! The new gaming features are also fantastic and it recognizes and automatically activates these features when the Xbox is turned on. The TV is also future proof with 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, which are perfect for the upcoming Xbox Series X and PS5 aiming to deliver 4k 120fps performance.

Wow! Made for next gen consoles!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was expecting things to look better but man am I really pleasantly surprised at just how much better everything looks. I got this mainly because it's the most recommended TV for Xbox Series X gaming by professional reviewers. Man are they right. This thing made every game look a million times better than my 4K Samsung series 8 which is a few years old. I mean eye openingly eye popping in amazement better. All you need to know is my wife looked at the TV while Gears of War 5 was being played which supports 120fps. She stopped in her tracks and said "I've never seen any of the games you play look like that wow". All the other games that don't support 120fps but are series X upgraded or capable look absolutely amazing and way better than they did my other 4K tv. From the colors to the textures to environments in the games as whole. I was a little disappointed at first with my Xbox Series X but this TV changed that. Before this TV I thought the games looked good and played well. Now they look and play INCREDIBLE. I can't say enough what a difference this TV made. 4K movies and TV content looks absolutely amazing as well. The colors and yes the blacks. It's amazing that I always the blacks are deeper and way better and didn't understand that till I got this TV. But for me the gaming on the next gen console is where its at on this TV and was my main reason for the purchase. I was ready to return it if I felt it didn't really make a difference but after just one day there is no way now this TV is here for good. A few other things to note. I have another LG Nano but this CX OLED is in a class of it's own. It automatically switches to game mode and lets you know if what you're watching or playing is in Dolby vision. I've played with the picture settings and found the presets spot on for their descriptions. If you've never owned an LG TV the magic remote they come with are awesome as well. That's about it. Of you're looking for a new TV that supports HDMI 2.1 and 120fps and want to be amazed by your new next gen console. This is THE TV to get.

The most satisfying purchase I've ever made
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While looking for the best TV, oled was always suggested and i thought it cant be much better than regular led TVs because they look so good already. Oh how wrong I was. It is a hugee step up in quality. Im so amazed by the lifelike images that look 3d from that infinate contrast. You feel like you are inside the video youre watching. The HDR pops really well because of the contrast of the TV, it doesnt need to be overjuiced with nits. I was concered with the quality of HDR because you read that these TVs dont get as bright as LEDs but the brightness is more than enough to allow the HDR highlight details to pop. I had a 2018 Vizio P series which had higher nits but it doesnt even come close to the quality of HDR from the oled. This was widely regarded as the best gaming TV of 2020 and I can see why. If you are on the fence like I was i highly recommend buying this because i dont regret this purchase one bit after seeing the quality of the picture. Not to mention the sound is fantastic. Since everybody always says to get a soundbar for any TV, i assumed the sound would be average, but the sound flows around you and has a very decent bass. The sound from the TV is better than the vizio soundbar i bought a few years ago so im not even using the soundbar anymore. I get excited and giddy every time I turn on this TV. It has made me happier each day since buying it.

Great gaming tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Reviewing this now in 2024, bought it back in 2021. Love this tv, amazing for gaming and watching movies and shows, works beautifully in a darker room as sun glares do get in the way. Love OLED and it’s really dark blacks, this tv makes for an enjoyable experience, and it’s really thin!

best 4k tv for gamers!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great value, quality and features, especially for gamers. Gorgeous OLED HDMI 2.1, HDR and VRR. G-Sync and freesync VRR compatible with next generation Xbox, PS5 and PC with with AMD GPU or Nvidia RTX 2000/3000. Amazingly runs 4k VRR 120 fps VRR (no hdr) on RTX 2000 series despite that gpu's lack of hdmi 2.1. Looking forward to 4k VRR 120fps with HDR if I can ever obtain an RTX 3000 series (Best Buy, can't you get more stock?) I bought two of these and have no regrets.

Amazing! I love this TV
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this tv. The picture quality is second to none, it gets plenty bright for any scene and has beautiful contrast. The speakers are average at best and would recommend a sound bar. The LG UI is amazing and is super simple to use, it rarely takes more than a few clicks to get to any setting you want, very few ads, especially compared to Samsung's UI which feels more like a massive ad of a UI that also happens to have apps and settings in it. The stand is beautiful and sturdy as well. I also use my CX with my PS5 and it is amazing colors are amazing, input lag is perfect. So far no issues with imagine retention or burn it. But I also baby the crab out of this tv and have the logo suppression on high which dulls all logos and HUDs in game, I also have the screen saver come on often and never leave the tv on a static image. I have held off for many years not getting an OLED even though they are easily the prettiest tvs because the fear of burn in. For every person that says they have never got burn in i hear of another person who has so that uncertainly has always scared me. I have not experienced any burn in or image retention but it is always in the back of my mind. This is where if you are someone like me who is scared of the burn in or imagine retention I would go with the Samsung QN90 tvs which look almost as good and have no burn in. But if you are willing to take the risk then you will fall in love and this will be your favorite tv.

Excellent, but first unit had a dead pixel.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first LG CX I received had a dead pixel and had to be returned. I was disappointed, as the TV had otherwise been nearly perfect. The second TV hasn't shown any signs of having pixel issues. I'm quite happy with it. My use case for this TV is simple: I want something I'll be able to use for 5+ years as a gaming display for my PC and consoles. This TV hit everything on my checklist. 4k, 120hz, VRR, HDR, crazy fast pixel response times, and very low input lag all sold me on it. The OLED panel also has infinite contrast, which was a huge bonus since I like to play horror games. Perfect blacks in a dark room in the middle of the night just can't be beat. Thankfully, all those gaming features don't detract from it's performance when viewing video content. It's gorgeous. Colors are brilliant, and are really driven home by the depth of the infinite contrast. I've really only got a few issues with this TV, and they're not deal breakers considering the quality of the gaming and viewing experiences. I don't love the remote or the streaming app interface. They feel clunky and inelegant compared to the Roku TV interface on my old TCL 65R615. I don't like having to aim the remote to navigate menus, and I feel like too many button presses are required if you don't. It's workable, but I don't like it. I might end up getting a Roku stick to work around the problem. I'm guessing I'd be able to control the TV with their remote, but I'll have to look into that. My second issue with this TV is with the sound. It works in a pinch, but you can really feel that the audio is coming from around the screen. This is probably amplified by my use case for the TV since I sit within 4' of the screen, but it doesn't sound impressive. However, it certainly sounds better than any other flat panel TV I've ever had. Ultimately, while I don't love the sound, I feel like they did the best they could. I primarily wear a wired headset that I plug into the back of the TV anyway, so it only really comes into play when I'm watching video. The jack on the back of the TV has it's own issues, though. If you set it to audio out it sounds good, but the volume is fixed. It can be too quiet sometimes, even when I max out volume on my headset. When I set it to headphones so I can turn up the volume I get some popping and distortion when I push the volume past 50. It's not a huge issue, but it does feel limiting. It's not exactly a headphone amp, though, and this problem could be solved by picking one up in the same way the speaker problem could be solved by picking up a sound bar. All in all, these issues are minor and there are ways to work around them. The screen is the star of the show here, and it's unbeatable right now. I can't see myself ever going back to a PC monitor after using this screen for a few weeks, and the depth of contrast and color have me wanting to replace my 65R615 in the living room, too.

Amazing dark room OLED tv, expensive price
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m assuming you’re reading reviews because you want to know if this TV is worth the price. OLED’s tv like this one excel at DARK ROOM performance. Meaning if you plan to use this in a dark room then you will absolute love the quality this brings you and no other tv will compare. HOWEVER if you mainly use this in a very bright room you will not notice as much of a difference and this TV would be a waste of money. Let me start by saying 3 good things about it The picture quality in a dark room is amazing, you will not look at other TVs the same anymore. 2)The sound is actually good, however if you want the best of the best then of course I would recommend a sound bar. 3)It’s perfect for gaming, watching movies, and just about everything you can think of. But just remember that in a very bright room it will be comparable to other much cheaper TV’s and you will not really notice as much of a difference. It’s an amazing TV. This is on the very high end of the spectrum. Just make sure you’re getting it for what it’s intended which is dark room performance. Also If you are looking for a TV specifically for a bright room I would highly recommend the Samsung q80 as it’s not only cheaper but also gets brighter than this LG tv, but it’s dark room performance is not as good. 5 stars for great dark room TV, minus 1 star for very expensive price and risk of burn in

Burn in is a non issue so far.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing TV if used for high quality content...Still very good for streaming and lower quality content. Reason being is that on streams the compression can be very noticible in dark scenes making everything blocky. Not the TVs fault per say but keep this in mind when buying this tv. Dont go to netflix and watch a dark movie and expect perfect picture. Blu ray and UHD discs are perfect on this tv though. Gaming with the PS5 on this is also unmatched in terms of picture quality and responsiveness. Dont believe all the burn in warnings either..I bought the best buy warranty so I am covered for 5 years and the peace of mind is worth it buuuut honestly as long as you sortof pay attention to how you use this TV you wont have issues. I play a lot of games and have zero signs of burn in after a year. I play on HDR with OLED light at 100... no problem. Tons of COD too with the ammo huds. When we watch SDR content we just keep the light at 40 if we know we might pause it a lot but for movies at night we crank it up to 80 for just a bit better picture. 40 is honestly plenty though if you wanted to just lock it there and leave it and not worry about it. You could even reduce the OLED light to about 80 for games and that would still provide an unbeatable experience while reducing the risk of burn in to the point of never having to worry at all. I dont mind a bit of risk considering I got the warranty but like I said I have no issues even using full OLED light for games. GET THIS TV and ENJOY it.

If you can get this, great!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I heard a lot about how CX series is a step back compared to C9 series of this TV line from LG. Since I haven't owned C9 series before, I'm not sure why that series was better than this one. but here's what I'm going to say. If you are upgrading from existing LG OLED TVs or just regular UHD ones, I would say just stay with what you have unless you are looking for a replacement. If you were like me and looking to buy a new OLED TV that was not from LG or just plain never had one, I would say go with this one. Picture's beautiful as OLED should be. No issue with PS4 and nintendo switch as long as you have game mode on. TV automatically upscales images that are not UHD pretty well also. Refresh rate seemed better at times compared to my 165 hz gaming monitor too. TV's pretty thin, so if you are going to wall mount it, you don't have to get annoyed by excessively protruding TV. Stand that comes with the TV feels sturdy too. Only issue I have with this TV is that whenever you grab your remote, a little cursor appears on the screen. I mean, for navigating OS, this helps, but it appears at regular viewing moments too. Even the slight bump activates the cursor and ruins the viewing experience. Also, the scroll wheel that is located on the select button prevents me from selecting the correct item on youtube or netflix because it rolls when I was trying to press select. If you have a smart remote that you've been using for a while, use that instead of the smart remote LG gives you...

Lives up to the hype
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is outstanding. I was worried it wouldn’t be bright enough but it’s perfectly capable and the absolute black levels make colors and brights pop from the insane contrast. I am not concerned about burn-in because Best Buy is one of the few places that cover burn-in protection with their protection plans. The OS is easy to use, responsive and intuitive. The picture quality is incredible. The input lag is non-existent and when I get a PS5 I’m sure the 120hz refresh rate will be wonderful. Airplay 2 and HomeKit support work flawlessly, I can turn my TV off with my voice, etc & stream or mirror content in seconds. This is a wonderful tv but I would not expect a long lifespan (longer than 5 years) before you’ll inevitably face burn-in or panel issues. It’s just the nature of this technology. Buy it, use it, enjoy it. I’m here for a good time not a long time so the fleeting quality of this display tech is worth it to me. And if you want extra assurance just but the coverage. Best TV I have ever owned.

Awesome TV. Worth the price.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this TV for a few weeks now and so far I absolutely love it. This is my first OLED tv and I never realized how much better the picture quality is compared to pretty much any other tv. My last tv was already 4K and I was happy with it but I decided to splurge since I was looking forward to some high quality next-gen gaming with my PS5 and my last tv simply didn't have the features for it. The colors and perfect black levels really stand out. Everything just looks so good. As for gaming, everything is just as good as advertised. It's all smooth and looks great. Very few TV's right now have the specs to take advantage of the brand new consoles and this is one of them. Even the sound is actually pretty good. My living room is pretty small so the Dolby Atmos on it actually works really well, I can actually hear the difference in sound quality. Eventually might still want to pair it with a good sound system, but the built-in sound is definitely not bad at all. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. It's a bit pricey for sure but if you can afford it or want to splurge, absolutely go for this TV. Won't be disappointed.

Excellent TV.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could have given it a 4 based purely on the fact that OLED TVs burn in, but that would not be fair. Every electronics have a chance to break. And I think most of us buy OLEDs knowing the nature of the game. So I want to talk about the OLED TV itself and how it delivers. The color of the TV is one of the best I have ever seen. Not too saturated bright especially with the right setting. There are simply no other TVs with color depth and also black and white contrast as this TV. Also, other functions such as smoothing and gaming modes are excellent. The price point definitely is understandable. I bought the 55 inch and am very satisfied. If you like bigger size over any other, then it may be a bit pricy. Highly recommended for all consumer types (gamer, nongamer), and really recommended as a PC monitor to hang on the walls such as music studios or even gaming.
