I was very hesitant to jump ship to another TV company as I have been a Samsung fanboy for over 20+ years but after reading the reviews about the HDR gaming and most importantly the price - It was the best value overall! However, as others have mentioned this does not come with a stand so please keep that in mind before purchasing.

I was anxious to purchase the new LG G1 OLED which finally arrived June 10th 2021 so that I could watch it on my birthday the next day. I really enjoyed the clear picture and the built in speaker was impressive. On June 17th 2021, the tv shut off during the Nets & 76er's playoff game. After not believing what happened, I got on the phone with Best Buy to set in motion my protection plan. This is the second consecutive expensive tv that broke down brand new.

Purchased this TV sight unseen based on reviews of the LG G1 vs the Sony A90J. All the reviews state the Sony A90J is superior in all aspects to the G1 except gaming. However, the LG G1 is hundreds of dollars less then the Sony A90J. The reviews point out while the Sony A90J is superior to the LG G1 it isn’t hundreds of dollars superior. So, I bought the LG G1 as the “bang for the buck” choice. The Gallery series LG TV is made to be flush mounted to the wall. But the reason I purchased the Gallery series is for 2021 it’s the only model that comes with the next gen brighter Evo panel. Since I’m not wall mounting the TV, I would have preferred if LG put the Evo panel in another series that comes with feet instead of a wall mount. UHD Picture The main reason I wanted a new TV is my old Sony 4k wouldn’t display HDR or Dolby Vision. Native 4k, HDR and Dolby Vision are spectacular on this set. Standard Def Picture Anything less than 1080 and the picture is very soft or has noticeable mpeg compression artifacts. 720p football doesn’t look good at all. I had my older friends over to show off the TV. They mainly watch old TV shows. Their comment watching the old stuff they like is “Why is it so blurry” This is definitely not the TV to buy if you mainly watch Standard Definition programming. This is a next generation TV for next generation 4k and above content. Gaming I only have an old PS3. Nothing that can really drive the G1 to its limits. So, nothing to really comment on. Sound If you table mount the TV, get a sound bar or external speakers for improved sound. The TV does have a headphone jack on the back and you can split the sound so it goes to both the speakers and the headphone jack. I “think” you can also connect Bluetooth headphones to the TV, but I haven’t tried. Reception Unfortunately, there are no NextGenTV channels being broadcast in my area, so I can’t comment on NextGenTV reception. However regular reception on both UHF and VHF channels comes in strong. The tuner is a little show switching between channels. The over the air channel guide could be improved. Note: The NextGenTV receiver and the brighter EVO panel were the main reasons I chose the G1 over the C1. Otherwise, the TVs seem to be very similar. Warranty The TV is supposed to come with a 5-year warranty on the panel. I don’t know if that includes the electronics that drive the panel, or just the panel its self. Also, its not clear if this includes dead pixels or screen burn-in. Stand Unfortunately, the TV doesn’t come with any feet!! Had to buy them separately for $100. Not everyone can mount this to a wall!! Picture in Picture No Picture in Picture. If you are one of those who like to watch one game while monitoring another and swapping back and forth between games, this isn’t the TV for you. Wifi Can’t comments on the Wifi reception of the set as I have it connected to an ethernet line. Tip: Do a search on how to make the wired ethernet of the TV faster by adding a USB ethernet adapter. Interface The LG uses its own proprietary interface where you point at different menu items using the remote as a “pointer” sort of like a Wii. I prefer the old PS3 interface where you scroll through the interface instead of pointing at stuff. Also, the menu logic and sub-tree logic could be better thought out. Applications To be honest I didn’t setup the built-in applications on the TV. I have an AppleTV 4k that has almost all the streaming applications on it and I didn’t want to go through the trouble of settings them up again. Remote The remote feels good in the hand. For this price you would think it would have back lighting and a chime function to find the remote, but no. The remote functions like a pointer where you point at things on screen and click on them. I put a textured silicone case on the remote and I like it better with the case. Be nice if there were a “display” or “info” button on the remote so I could see the input, resolution, guide info for the show, etc. Would also like a “favorites” button so I can just switch to my favorite channels instead of all the channels I have programmed like an “old school” TV remote.

No Regrets Purchasing Two LG OLED TVs

This TV has amazing picture quality. I have this TV and the CX series as well. I do think this handles brighter rooms even better than the CX; however, I don't think there is enough of a difference to upgrade from a CX. I enjoy the LG OLED TVs far more than other LED TVs. I was always disappointed in my Samsung LED TV's color quality compared to the plasma TVs before them. The OLED TVs seem better in every aspect. I also hooked this up to my gaming desktop, and games look incredible on it (I particularly enjoyed CyberPunk), though running at 4K requires very high end hardware.

Ignore every negative review here, they are probably due to improper install, or not understanding what an OLED tv is, do your research people! Yes it doesn't come with a stand because it is meant to be WALL MOUNTED, that's the whole point. This TV is EVERYTHING! The picture quality is like nothing I've ever experienced! The OLED has me constantly questioning if my TV is off or just loading, and the contrast and color have me saying "Wow" under my breath all the time, just watch Guardians of the Galaxy and sit in awe as you can see every. single. star. WebOS6 is wonderful as well, super simple to use and you can arrange the apps anyway you'd like! The wall mount was fairly simple to install, however I recommend using different drywall screws if you don't have studs to drill into, the ones that come with the TV are a bit too long and thin, and could spin in the wall when trying to drill the screws in. Other than that I would highly recommend this TV, LG even added a 5 year warranty to this bad boy!

    Wonderful OLED

This OLED TV haves an amazing picture colors jump off the screen in a dark viewing environment where OLED works best. Brightness is honestly good enough if put in the right environment true it’s not LED or mini LED bright but at those levels it’s making you close your eyes or look away and who wants to close or look away from your TV when watching it. The gaming features on this OLED are bar setting 4K at 120Hz, VRR, 4 2.1 HDMI inputs, near instant response times(LED tech can’t match) low input latency 10.6 at 60Hz 5.6 at 120Hz, Dolby Vision gaming from the Xbox Series X, and FreeSync works alongside too. As for cons again the brightness could be a tad better also the burn-in worry mindset kicks in at times, but the Best Buy extended warranty(covers burn-in) helps with that. The wall mounting feature can be a con if your not able to which would add to the cost of the TV buying a stand. The dark viewing environment I been mentioning is another truth about OLEDs. They need a environment away from large open windows with natural lighting reason being sunlight can put wear on the screen. A fix would be light blocking curtains during the day. Sound is good on its own but not great which is true about all modern TVs. To sum up wonderful picture in the right environment and gaming features are amazing it’s considered one of the best for a reason folks.

Impressive. There is not much else to say that a pro has already said. I'll just state that the picture is gorgeous if you watch anything that is presented in the qualities of 4k, there is plenty of custom tuning that makes differences even brightness is great for an oled. The sound is good for what is internally given and there is obviously external speakers to sync to. It comes with flush wall mount as it should for its price. The remote is nice just make sure to have extra batteries.

TV is amazing and color also, thought my tv turned off with how dark the blacks are watching an anime, and amazing for couch gaming, best TV purchase by a long shot. Onboard speakers are surprisingly good with the AI sound tech they have, only flaw is os isnt so user friendly at the beginning but only takes a day to get used too.

Worked out of the box with 120hz HDR in windows @ 4K. Using RYX 3000 series card. Lights up a dark bedroom. Only issue is the LG WebOS is a bit sluggish. I recommend an Nvidia shield or Fire stick for movie/YouTube. Also built-in speakers have 0 bass. I recommend getting a QP5 LG sound bar. They are pretty reasonablpy bright and fully computable with single tv remote

A little love hate. The picture was absolutley amazing. Even over air cable looked insane. Its sounds incredible. The bad though. The mount is so stupid, especially if you have a existing mount. Its located at the top of the tv instead of the center. So you have to completely remount. No easy swap. Second no nba league pass app. 3rd the operating system is not my favorite. I ended up replacing it with the sony a80 oled. Lg was so close to knocking it out of the park.

Thank you taking the time to share your feedback regarding the mount. We will send this to our research and development teams for future consideration.

In regards to the operating system and missing streaming apps, you can get the best of both worlds by using a third party device such as a Firestick, Roku or compatible gaming operating system to access their app library. ^Jennifer LG

Amazing clarity. Used to have a Samsung Q90 but the 2 year old decided to play quarterback and broke it. So glad I made the decision to switch to LG. Burn in is a concern but there are a bunch of built in fail safes for that. Handles my PS5 and Xbox much better and having Dolby Vision doesn’t hurt either. I guess the only negative is the LG U/I takes some time to figure out. The menus are not the most user friendly but you’ll figure it out in time.

I've had this tv for a few weeks now and I can confidently say withnout a doubt this is by far the best picture ive ever seen. Color accuracy is spot on, the image is crystal clear, and it gets super bright for gorgeous hdr highlights. Gaming on this tv is equally superb. VRR is a game charger and there is little to no loss in picture quality when using game mode even with VRR activated. This is hands down a better deal if your looking at this year's C2 model, just go with the g1, you won't be disappointed.
