This TV is outstanding. I upgraded from a CX oled and the difference was very noticeable. The picture quality is top notch and this TV is BRIGHT! Blindingly so at times. The sound quality is acceptable but I use headphones so I don’t use the onboard speakers much. Overall, this is a fantastic TV that will look great for whatever you use it for, whether that’s movies, sports, or gaming.

LG OLED are truly best in their class. I've had Sony and LG OLEDs and they're both great, but the thinness of this panel for mounting on a wall is amazing. Everyone compliments this TV when they see it.

Very expensive, but good quality. I use it for streaming services but also as a gaming monitor with my Pc. Some vertical lines appear in the first week or so but they disappear soon after. Software can be better. The pointer on the remote is very annoying too.

A top-of-the-line LED smart TV replaced my old plasma smart TV in 2016. (The recipient of that now 18 year old plasma screen still uses it.) It was part of a system with a soundbar, a PVR with cable, a cable box, and a DVD player. But my current television had to be rebooted constantly, and I finally grew tired of this. It was most fortuitous that I could take advantage of November’s electronics sales. I drove to Best Buy, and I was soon setting up my new OLED55G4SUV. I am pleased with it, but there have been a few hitches in installing the set: lack of a robust quick set up guide, absence of the PBS app, an insufficient number of HDMI ports that are physically too close to each other, and no RGB/audi cable inputs. First off, the product does not come with a printed installation guide, a cost cutting feature adopted by most manufacturers today. LG offers an online interactive user guide on its website, but I found it cumbersome to use. There is a PDF version available, but it’s not listed on the LG product page. But you can find it by searching the web. Oddly enough, the user guide fails to provide a diagram or schematic of the inputs on the back of the set. It’s sometimes just helpful to have that rather than reading the minuscule print. There are two inputs on the left side and two inputs on the bottom. I have found the placement of the four HDMI inputs to be inconvenient. I also feel that I do not have enough HDMI ports. I used the two bottom ports to connect to my cable box and TiVo Edge. While configuring my apps, I discovered that there is no PBS Passport app for webOS. (LG devices use webOS.) This was quite a surprise and a great disappointment. Had I known this, I probably would have bought a different brand for which there is PBS Passport support. Shame on me for not verifying app support. Fortunately, I had an Amazon Fire TV Stick that I had used for AppleTV on my old LED TV. I installed this on one of the side HDMI inputs. Now this solution has two downsides. One is that the Stick protrudes beyond the edge of TV. The second is that its width makes using the remaining port difficult, if not impossible because the two ports are so close to each other. I have resolved this issue, but let’s go on to configuring the remote and then to how I used my remaining port before I discuss this issue. There’s no quick install guide to quickly speed you through setting up your set, but LG’s automated initial setup isn’t so bad. Actually, set up is probably pretty slick for a lot of people, but it’s not all so intuitive. Two configure my three HDMI inputs, I first pressed the setting button on the remote. Stymied by the icons displayed, I eventually figured out that you have to figure out that you need to select the Setting icon in the upper left hand corner to display the basic setup page itself. (Sometimes pushing the settings button on the remote will take you directly to this screen, but I haven’t figured out when.) Then select General from the displayed list of options. Then scroll down to select External Devices on the next list displayed. (I took me a while to figure out that there were more options in the list and that I had to scroll to get to them.) Then select Universal Control Settings on the next list. After selecting the input that you want to set up, a wizard makes this pretty straightforward. I eventually discovered that the best choice for my TiVo Edge was to choose box setup. Unfortunately, TiVo is not listed as a manufacturer, so you have to choose your cable provider. Typically, most of your inputs will default to a friendly name, but I now had two inputs that both displayed the name of my cable service provider: the cable box input and the TiVo input. You have to use an entirely different workflow to edit the labels. To do this, hold down the Input button on the remote for a while to display the Home Hub screen. Then select the three dots in the upper right hand corner to display a list of options. Select the Edit Inputs option and then the input to be modified. Ostensibly, I would use my remaining HDMI port to connect my DVD player. While I rarely watch CD’s anymore, save perhaps for my archives of digitized pictures, I do play music CD’s. But connecting the DVD player to the TV was a problem because my ancient player doesn’t support an HDMI cable. I had been using three RBG cables and two audio cables. The LG set doesn’t have these “archaic” ports. So, what was I to do? Drop $400 some dollars on a new premium DVD player with features that I don’t need? I settled upon ordering an RBG/audio cable to HDMI adapter. But I was going to need access to the port that was blocked by the Fire TV Stick. Plus, I wanted to hide that stick. So I also ordered a package of assorted HDMI elbows to deal with my Fire TV Stick issue. These purchases arrived the next day. It was time to test the new HDMI adapter. The HDMI cable packaged with the adapter was too short to reach the television when the adapter was connected to the surge protecter. I had a spare HDMI cable that was longer, but only if I used a bottom HDMI input, rather than the now open side HDMI input, and moved the surge protector closer to the television. That was a lot of work in tight spaces, but I attacked the dust that had accumulated over the years below my bedroom chests. The adapter performed beautifully; I was thrilled. Next I had to connect the HDMI cable that had been using the e-ARC port to the remaining side HDMI port. That input was partially covered by the Fire TV Stick. I used some HDMI elbows to resolve this. While there are some HDMI 180° elbows, I did not order one since I could verify whether their dimensions would provide enough clearance around the set’s physical features. I tried two 90° elbows to create a 180° elbow. It worked nicely. Having the Stick sit proud of the set might be a problem for wall mounting, but I was using the set’s stand. But I decided that it was better to reduce the number of elbows and chose a 90° elbow that turned the Stick downwards. This entailed moving the Stick from the top HDMI port, where I had originally installed the Stick, to the bottom input. Fortunately, the upgraded USB cable that I had purchased to enable my Stick to work on my old television had enough length to reach the USB input above the two HDMI ports. Now, the wide surface of the Stick sits parallel to the back of the set, resolving any potential wall mounting problem as well. But this configuration also prevents installation of the back cover over the wires. This is not a big deal for me, and the cover will just sit in a closet. The next discovery was that I was going to have to repeat universal remote control setup for the inputs that I had moved. No big thing, but it was still one more step for me. During this, I discovered that my Fire TV Stick remote could no longer communicate with the now invisible Stick. Fortunately, the LG universal remote does! I was now out of HDMI inputs on my television. Since the set supports Miracast, I did not need my Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter that I had on my prior set. Whew. But what happens should I decide to upgrade my old Sonos Playbar? It uses an optical cable. A new Sonos soundbar requires an e-ARC/ARC HDMI input. Which device do I give up? Fortunately, I am not going to do this in the near future since I’m not sure that I really need surround sound.

Our plasma TV is still working after almost 15 years but we decided to upgrade to a new TV recently. After reading dozens of reviews and comparison tests we decided to get an LG G4 55" smart TV. Best Buy did the installation (awesome crew!) and the TV has so far lived up to the hype. Great picture and easy to use controls. I find the freehand remote to be less useful for navigation but we're getting used to it. Very pleased with this purchase so far!

I really like this TV. It's the most I've ever spent on a TV but the color, picture quality, and sound are amazing. On the sound from the TV, I purchased a sound bar thinking I would need one because of prior experiences with sound quality on flat screen TVs but I highly recommend you try the sound from the TV before you get a sound bar. I was impressed with the quality and loudness of the sound from the TV alone. I wish I hadn't spent the extra money on a sound bar. I also use this TV for gaming and the picture quality is top notch. No buyer's remorse at all.

Hands down the BEST TV I've ever purchased. Was it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it?... Is the cost of quality toilet paper worth it? YES! Sure, you can buy a 4K TV for a few hundred dollars, but if you care about image quality when it comes to sports, movies, or gaming then don't hesitate scooping this TV. G series vs. C series?? Do your research! G series is far and away superior if you care about image quality. I'll have a hard time NOT buying an OLED TV from now on.
