I did a lot of research before purchasing a TV and even with all that research ended up buying the wrong TV from Sams Club that was supposedly a SHARP that turned out to be a knock off HiSense TV and in the end I ended up returning to Sams Club in anger. So just a heads up on things like that. Do your research because when it comes to TVs you never know what is under the hood. And I started this review with this fact to help other consumers avoid that mistake and to point out that it was a much better buying experience when purchasing my TV through Best Buy. After that I decided to purchase this TV from Best Buy, I noticed an immediate difference between this TV and the SHARP TV I returned both in picture quality and with the smart TV abilities on it. The WEBOS smart TV software built into the TV will do well for most, but coming from an apple TV user I found the WebOS interface some what limiting. As an example with Apple TV I am able to cast anything form my iphone to the TV. But in WebOs your are limited to whatever is in your photos and videos on your phone. There is also a lack of many of the apps I was used to having access to on my Apple TV that I would have liked to see on this smart TV like CW as an example. And for a smart TV the WebOS system is not bad but it's no Apple TV and the only reason I am using the WebOs vs my Apple TV is that I have the older Apple TV that is not 4K. And so to enjoy 4k and HD quality content through streaming providers like Netflix I have to use the Netflix app included in the TV's smart TV app line up until I can fork over money for an Apple TV 4k. It is also notable to mention that PLEX is an available app on this TV which I use a lot. And was presently surprised to see that it detected my HomeRun device that streams my digital antenna signals thought my home network and streams those free antenna channels with much more reliability than going through the PLEX app like I used to with the Apple TV. I was also able to connect the TV to my Amazon Echo device and can now instruct Alexa verbally to turn my tv off among other commands which I am finding useful. The remote is okay, and for this model does not come with the "Magic Remote" that allows you to use a pointer and scroll wheel to navigate around with your TV. However, I did find that the LG Remote app for your smartphone does include this feature but is not as cool as having the "Magic remote" that higher end models provide. I also looked into if I could upgrade to the better remote and it os not possible with this model to do so. As for the actual picture and sound quality, I found so many reviews about deeper blacks and refresh rates and all of that. And in most cases more is better, but when I have this TV hung on my wall and am watching 4k content or anything for that matter it is amazing looking and am very satisfied with what I see. The TV also has a few preset picture settings that you can adjust and you can even adjust the motion settings to help reduce that awful "Soap Opera Effect" that I do not like and for this TV it is not that noticeable, especially after making some custom tweaks to some of the preset picture settings. The TV also has a decent wide viewing angle. I can not comment on the sound much since I pass my audio to a soundbar, but at least there is an ARC output on the TV that I was able to connect to my ARC compatible soundbar which allows me to seamlessly control the soundbar through my TV. However, I did notice some audio sync issues, especially on Netflix but was able to adjust the audio sync in the TV audio configuration. So if your looking for a decent and affordable large 4k HDTV, in my opinion you can not go wrong with this one!

    Great Entry Level 4K

This LG is a great entry level 4K TV for those on a budget. I was originally going to get the 4 series TCL Roku but saw really bad reviews. I found this TV along with the Samsung priced the same and decided to go with LG. This TV has three HDMI ports and several others that the Samsung didn't have. Some other reviewers said the the number 1 HDMI port went bad after a few days and I have to say that when I hooked it up I thought mine was damaged as well. However I unplugged and plugged back in and it has worked fine since. The picture is amazing even considering I don't have a 4K streaming device or 4K content. I don't use this TV with an antenna I only use streaming services and all come in so real to life its almost scary. I definitely would go in and turn off the energy saver setting and play around withh the picture settings. It did appear a little dark with the energy saver on, but once it's off and played with the other settings found the one that was perfect for my set up. Overall I would recommend this TV for those on a budget, if money is not an issue LG and Samsung have better 4K TV's.

This is my second LG TV, i upgraded to this one from the 43” I loved. It has a very user friendly interface and intuitive remote. Great picture. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars was because it has this feature that doesn’t let me enable HDR on my PS4 because of some feature that has to be turned off on the PS4. It blocks all signal from the console so it was hard to change the setting on the PS4 because I couldn’t see a display on the TV. This is the same on all LG TV’s in this class and not a big deal, it is still 4K when using my PS4 Pro. Other than that, its great and the only TV in this class with a component input as well as 3 HDMI inputs which is nice because I have a PS2 (that I barely use) but its nice that I can still hook it up.

Overall value of this TV is great. Picture is great, you can definitely find better pictures, but your gonna be paying $1000+. I'm extremely happy with the sound. This has been a sore spot for flat TV's since they came on the market. Speaker placement was the culprit. Seems LG has figured this one out though. My only real complaint is the "Quick Start" feature. It basically keeps the TV in sleep mode. Would be a great feature if it played nice with my Nvidia Shield. Seems the two couldn't communicate with "Quick Start" turned on making it impossible for the TV to detect the Shield. I was on the verge of returning the TV before I finally discovered the cause of the problem. Bottom line, for the price you can't go wrong with this TV.

My personal pros & cons Pros - TV comes with lots of settings (Simple or Detailed) for customizing the picture and other aspects for your needs. - Blu tooth makes it so i can connect it wirelessly to my Blu tooth sound system - Tv supports more video file types through its usb ports than my previous 4k Vizio did - One of the cheapest prices for a name brand 55inch 4k HDR Tv Around. Cons - Legs only have one position to place them which is very wide - TV stand legs are somewhat unstable ( TV can easily wobble if pushed) - TV brightness appears low making some scenes appear too dark (adjusting picture brightness too high completely dulls the picture)

Good TV, much better picture than our older LG TV and our main Samsung. The interface is a bit over complicated at times (many steps to do something simple) and God forbid you ever lose the remote because doing anything via the TV button is miserable. I much prefer the manual button on our older LG TV for those purposes. The interface is slightly slow and laggy at times, but nowhere near as bad as our Samsung TV, so that's an improvement. Oh, Alexa can't turn the TV on and I think that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

Very nice picture, but if you’re in the energy saving mode, the screen seems a lot darker. The sound is surprisingly good! There are a couple minor things that prevented me from giving this tv a 5 star rating: 1) The stands are too darn cheap and wobbly, even with the 2 screws. 2) It doesn’t have the audio connection for my older receiver (will get a converter for that, no biggie). Overall, good TV for $399!

You get what you pay for. Good overall picture. The 4K aspect, I am still trying to determine the difference. Need a legitimate 4K source to view. Everything else is good. the remote is easy and has direct buttons to Prime and Netflix. Sound is adequate. Lite weight, and easy to move around. The two stands the TV sit on are a little flimsy. Viewing angles can improve. Watching from an angle, there is a difference in the color of the picture.

Picture and sound are very good. I have only owned this TV for about one month and the HDMI 3 port has given me an error message of not recognizing the device twice so far. Unplugging the power cord, waiting for about 30 seconds and reconnecting resolved it each time. LG was contacted after the first time and took note of it. They said they would send a service person if it continues. If it happens a third time I will request service.

I didn't know what I was missing until I watched an action movie in 4k. As a novice, I needed the help of a friend for fine tuning which led to discovering just how advanced this TV really is. I love it. Since it is still new, the jury is out on longevity. Overall, I am very happy with it. Almost forgot, the only fault was that the leg stands were a pain to install.

This TV is probably the best 55" for the price. The UHD picture is amazing. It has many of the features that you would expect in a high end TV. The only reasons that I didn't give it 5 stars are that the legs for the TV are rather flimsy and the documentation is not very good. It's a shame to have all of these features and have to figure out how to use them.

Great picture, great quality. The only reason I gave a 4 is the legs are not good at all, tv is wobbly. the leg are not a stable support. If lg reads these reviews.FIX THE LEGS. also if they have a solution to this problem,DO TELL ALL that have purchased this item. I would not recommend this product with little kids and hyper dogs or cats.

i like it a lot but it does have a dark type screen which is more deep blackness to it and so far tv viewing seems good but some games with my PS4 will appear darker and it taking me a bit to get used to it but over all i like it but if you like to have something more dark or black in the tube then this TV is good for what you want the spec you prefered

Pros - Great picture quality, fast. User friendly remote. Cons - Flimy construction of back shell and stand. DOES NOT COME WITH A MAGIC WAND STYLE REMOTE, and the remote provided is absolutely terrible quality. And poor ergonomics and button design and spacing. Would only recommend for young couples and college students and budget oriented shoppers.

Looking for an additional smart tv for the home, wanted 55" or bigger with a good balance of features. Got this on special during the holidays, & very pleased. Quick setup, picture & sound as good as a Sony Bravia purchased last year. WebOS is faster and less buggy than Android. All in all very good value for money! And Best Buy service was great.

I love the picture on this TV, and love the ease of use. However I have had to reset it three times already to get rid of small wonky things like an app not working etc. I also don’t like how I can never get the screensaver to save. Also, I cannot use Bluetooth speakers with this tv which is a bummer when buying a sound bar. But quality is still decent

Have had this for about a month. It doesn’t compare to a premium tv but very good for under $400. Only 3 hdmi ports. Wish all of the ports were on the side as with a slim mount the tv doesn’t clear the wall from the plugs in the back. Audio out only has an optical. Picture is very good but not great. Good value.

Great TV for the price I paid, updates apps quickly, not the best resolution out there. Speakers are loud. Sometimes I have to switch the HDMI outputs so it will recognize my xbox. Overall happy with my purchase but wish I could've afforded a better TV.

I have a tiny apartment so this makes it seem like I'm watching at a theatre in the comfort of my own home. It's easy to set up; sound and picture quality are great. I haven't used any of the internet-reliant features because I don't have internet at home. It works just fine connected to a Blu-Ray player.

Disappointed with the LG web ecosystem. Prominent apps don't exist, connecting to the LG TV with my phone is not the easiest and the remote is not the finest quality. Happy with the audio and the video quality but expected more with regards to it being a 'smart' TV.
